Classic SA experience, good food, great service, always a good time! Don't miss the iconic schooners. The seafood platter was decent, but I found the tarter a bit sweet. Chicken fried steak is hard to beat. Only place I know with a small, medium, and large Mexican plate.

Those lists are hard to trust but in this case the spot on the list is well deserved. Licking an envelope has more flavor than so many chicken fried steaks in San Antonio, but not this one. They’ve actually well seasoned the meat, the batter, and the gravy. The breading sticks to the steak. The potatoes are homemade. The salad (particularly the nearly-ready-to-throw-out lettuce) was disappointing and our server didn’t make it by often, but all else was a win for this place. So I’ll be back!

This place has been around since my Mom was young. She and I love this restaurant. Everybody was friendly, and the service was exceptional. Our waitress name was Mary and has been there for over 16 yrs! The food was delicious and the tea was so good! I highly recommend this as a local.

Mk Davis has been around since 1956! There are a lot of different things to choose from their menu. The fish is absolutely delicious and service was great although there can be wait this place is always busy. Never a dull moment so keep that in mind, but the food is worth the wait.

We stumbled by mistake into this place on a Sunday evening & glad that we did. Since we had never tried their food we asked the waitress what was popular. She was very helpful & told us how the onion rings, chicken fried steak & chicken fried chicken are popular. We decided to go with the chicken fried chicken, a hamburger & onion rings. Everything was delicious. We were impressed by the chicken fried chicken, this has to be the best in SA. The country gravy added the perfect flavor to it & we hope to enjoy it again very soon. The hamburger was good, but the onion rings really made it better. The atmosphere is a little dated & dark, but this doesn’t affect the tasty food they serve. It was a full house too so you know they are doing food right.

My parents used to come here for their date nights when they were youngins. My husband and I took them here and it was our first time. Loved the food and service. The dining room is a bit dark but it sets a comfortable atmosphere. Our waitress was extremely friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. All our meals tasted delicious. Will definitely be coming back again.

We went last night for dinner for my husband’s birthday. The food was really good. Was it my favorite place in the world, maybe not but it definitely had great flavor and everything was fresh. We had to to wait over 2 hours to be seated. We did have a larger party of 14 people so that is understandable. Still a solid local place that’s been here since the 50’s. I would go back again and definitely recommend giving this place a try. We had the cod 2 piece and the chicken fried steak for under $40. Everyone else loved the food too. Only recommendation is to have reservations available. I feel that would definitely help with larger parties.

Dropped in on this place after hearing about it on Facebook. We were not disappointed, the onion rings were excellent! Both the chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken was tasty and large. The food was okay, it wasn't hot enough, it got cold very fast, it didn't have no flavor. Chips and salsa didn't have no flavor, And the chips itself look like they were fried in old oil. They also charge you $1 extra for you to get beef enchiladas therefore they only sell cheese enchiladas. Basically I'm doing good to give them a 3.

Ok well hm 🤔 I thought it was a Mexican restaurant, but honestly, it's not. It looks like it's been around for a while. The chips are too burned. The guacamole was brown, and they don't have Sprite or coke products yuck. My friends ordered the fish sandwich, but everything on the table was too greasy. I mean, literally everything. So I didn't eat anything at all, only drank water. Im being honest, in my opinion 🤷 I mean look at the photos all the food stayed. Sorry

I visited for the first time a few weeks ago to try what I was told was one of the best CFS's in San Antonio. What I received tasted like a frozen patty, and was similar to chicken fried steaks I've got in sandwiches from snack bars, casinos or from the frozen food section of the grocery store. My salad and fries were great, the service was good, but the chicken fried steak was a total disappointment. I've reviewed at least a dozen local restaurants for their chicken fried steaks, as I do food and restaurant reviews online, and this was one of the worst I've had. I honestly doubted it was battered or prepared in house. As a first time diner, I was severely disappointed by the steak, so much so that I'm not sure I'll be returning. I would be willing to try other items, but Id be highly wary of ordering the chicken fried steak again. I just looked at the reviews from the last 4 months and see a sudden number of people saying their chicken fried steaks were bad as well. Did something change recently?

2-17-2026 day of eating at restaurant First waitress didn't write nuttin down didn't get mine or husband order right asked for splenda git a tea food was dry even putti ketchup mustard and mayo on it ordered chicken fried steak got it less than 5mins so I think it was precooked and just warmed up and last the meal I had gave me horrible cramps after eating it and while today is the 18th of February I'm still not feeling good. If I could give no stars I would. We waited for over 1.5 hours for a table while people around us got seated. Instead of trying to figure out seating they said the table they had for us was still occupied if we liked to walk around and look. How is that good customer service that I have to walk around and look for a table. Another party that was there just as long ended up leaving as did part of our party. This in my opinion is horrible customer service. If u have a party of more than 4 dont go here you will wait shorter times at a steak house I've never even waited that long at restaurants downtown.
