Avis sur The Original Mexican Restaurant San Antonio
I can't write about the food as we only stopped for a marg, chips and salsa, and to rest. Of course, view was great and the staff was exceptional.
Fantastic food!! Some of the best Mexican food we have had in a long time! The environment is like being in Disneyland. Absolutely wonderful! William is an incredible waiter and Ian and Tracey did fantastic on their first night!! Will absolutely come back here time and time again!
From the incredibly enthusiastic hostess playing “follow the hostess” to the service personnel, this place is great. I come back every time I’m in San Antonio. William was a phenomenal server, very knowledgeable, friendly and a pleasure to talk to. I can’t recommend The Original Mexican Restaurant enough! This spot is a must if you’re looking for good food and margaritas on the riverwalk!
Warmly greeted when arrived and then staff helped us moved to a different table, which I we right along the riverwalk. Staff is very friendly and outgoing. Our server was great. Helpful with suggestions and ordering and very outgoing and professional. I had the chicken burrito which was huge and very reasonably priced. Itt tasted fresh and absolutely delicious. The chips are not too salty and the homemade salsa is spot on. We also got the chicken fajitas which again the portion was huge and everything was so fresh and delicious. This place is an absolute MUST if on the riverwalk.
Honestly we were a little skeptical about stopping here due to other reviews, but the chips and salsa drew us in and I’m glad that it did!! We have a great waiter who was friendly and our food came out so fast. My husband and I were both very happy with our meals and I honestly had no complaints. Would recommend stopping!
We came from out of town and decided to eat here with the family and the service was fast and good. Food was good and hot. We got the fajita plate And tenders for my child. We did get a margarita and it was amazing. Def recommend. Paid about $68. If you want fast service maybe show up around 12 pm.
With so many options for food on the river this location caught my attention. The visit started with the hostess who was very knowledgeable about the menu and quickly sat us. It was st Patrick weekend so it so it even made it a special evening visit. The manager walked around and also greeted us and ensured we were well taken care of. The food was out quick and hot and tasted as if mom was back there .. Will recommend well worth the visit..
Bear with me here, My Husband and I came in from San Francisco to visit family, we love the aesthetic of the riverwalk in downtown San Antonio. While we were enjoying our margaritas together by the water this lady sitting with another woman started shouting “My name is Hannah Webber! And I demand you do what I say” Followed by a few inapplicable remarks that were very degrading towards the staff. Pointing her finger to the manager while he was trying to help her out and calm her down. If we had someone try to workout a situation like that our experience would’ve only been better. But just how disrespectful she was to the staff blatantly insulting her waiter then demanding for the staffs mailing address was completely inappropriate. My husband was very upset and almost told her something for Pestering the workers. We felt very bad. The rest of our night went well after that. The food was okay but our waiter was very friendly and the margaritas were delicious. We also got to hang around and didn’t feel like we were being rushed out or bothered while we enjoyed the scenery.
Great food! Would definitely recommend if ever you're in the Market area. Its dead center, and you have the option of having a pet outside. Long as it doesn't disturb the others. Curdeos staff, very efficient. Always checked on us, and were kind to sing Happy Birthday to familia. A must try spot in San Antonio.
We stopped here not realizing that it wasn't the right restaurant. We intended to eat at the next Mexican place down the Riverwalk, Casa Rio. It turned out to be good. The food was good, drinks were good, the atmosphere sitting outside was good. I'm not really disappointed that we got it wrong. Service was pretty slow, but the place was busy. I wouldn't have any problem coming back.
The food is greasy, mostly because of the cheese used, but tasted delicious and had terrific consistency. I especially loved the salsa verde on the chicken enchiladas. The interior is basic and feels more like a VFW hall than a restaurant, but I suppose the idea is to enjoy the outside views of the river. But considering the tourist destination, I was very happy with the prices.
Just "okay" nothing to write home about" \nIt's all about the view ! Ate on the river with the ducks and pigeons asking for snacks!

Unfortunately, we had to sit inside because it was cold outside. Atmosphere was okay. Food was typical tex-mex, which was good. The blue Curaçao margaritas was very good. Survive was okay.
We stopped here for lunch. Great spot with nice views. Food could use a little bit more flavor. My steak tacos had no flavor. Everything else was good. I went to use the bathroom and it was disgusting. Reason for the 3 stars
Everything was great except for your hostess. She is rude, non welcoming and obviously doesn’t want to be at work. I watched as her and another employee look and judge other people with disgust. Sad because it makes them both disgusting. I say thank you anyway. She says BYE. WHAT A RUDE PERSON TO HAVE AT YOUR FRONT DOOR. I run a business. I would be telling her BYE as an owner or manager. Go find another place to work.
The service was slower and inattentive but I am giving grace as we had a large party. The food was messy, greasy, and over priced for the smaller portions. They charge for chips and salsa that I did not ask for. They brought the chips and salsa well before we ordered anything to drink. The nicest feature is being able to sit next to the riverwalk. There are several other options I’d recommend over this one.

Very mid to low quality food. chicken fajitas were so dry. They clearly were not made to order. Chips and salsa were good. Beef fajita was okay. Service was friendly. I'd skip this one.

Good food but very bad service. It took a long time for anyone to come to our table and they never asked how our food was. Room for improvement. Ordered 2 drinks, queso, and a taco platter.
Atmosphere is lovely, and the view is great. However, the food is so mid. The chicken tasted bland, I think it was canned like the beans, and the rice was fine. Edible, but definitely not worth the price or time.
We were seated immediately, but waited a while for someone to come and take our order. Food was less than average! the 2 things that bothered me the most The bartender on her phone eating hot Cheetos. The waitresses and waiters, long hair, not tied back. At one point, I witness one of the waitresses carrying a large tray of food with her hair laying on top of someone’s plate! Completely disgusting! I believe this place needs to be better managed!
We went there on Christmas Eve and the service was slow, food was overpriced, not a good quality and bland. They charge for 20% automatically for a party of 2, just 2 dish order, which I had to dispute. They didn't let us know about the bean champagne coming for a non- Vegetarian source, and we only found out after the order, despite telling the server about the dietary restrictions ahead of time. Overall, 43$ plus tips total bill for 2 dishes of bland food that ruined our Christmas Eve. Overall, disappointing experience on riverwalk. Advice to the management: improve the service level, food quality. There are other competitors that can easily replace you.
This menu needs a refresher and potentially changing of the management. How can you serve Tostitos chips or similar instead of true restaurant style chips. The menu if lacking a lot of options. The chips and salsa are an upcharge of $1, which is fine but it’s not quality. The food items taste like the cheapest option they can purchase. Hopefully the owners read theses reviews and not only the managers because I would completely recommend a change. The servers are good people and deserve better. They could have a packed house with better quality foods and an improved menu. The location has so much potential, they can seriously do better.

Buckle up… Ordered enchiladas with a gluten allergy. As other reviews said, the enchiladas came out without sauce. I asked for a new order, but the new order had rice (which according to the restaurant is not GF, no biggie). I pointed out the risk of cross contact, and the same enchiladas were scraped onto a new plate and presented to me once again with rice still stuck to the tortillas. Attempted to talk to the manager, Sean, who very rudely claimed they did not make the order incorrectly and that “they remade it three times” - that was not the case. He then claimed he made it himself before again claiming the kitchen made a mistake. It’s a shame how a manager with complete incompetence can change the entire dynamic of a restaurant… the wait staff was lovely and I hope they are at least treated with respect since their manager clearly lacks communication skills and empathy.
So, I didn’t actually eat at the restaurant and cannot speak to the quality of their food. However, their service was some of the worst I’ve experienced during my time in San Antonio. We stopped at the menu to look over the options, and a lady walked over and said she would sit us at a table now, even though we were saying we weren’t going to eat there in the first place. Since my boyfriend and I are polite, non-confrontational people, and we were hungry, so we just agreed to sit down. The menu and signs do not have anything posted about their hours. The “hostess” working outside said nothing about the hours. AND there were multiple tables of people eating outside. She sat us at a table then told us our server would be right out THREE DIFFERENT TIMES while we sat there waiting. Then she comes back out after a while (mind you, no one has come to get our order or even check on us) and flipped over the menu. I overheard one of the other employees asking if they are closed now, so I looked it up on Google to see their hours. When I realized they were closing, I politely said that I was so sorry, and if they were closing we didn’t need to eat and keep their kitchen open. Instead of responding and kindly saying she was sorry or not to worry about it, she was incredibly passive aggressive. She basically sarcastically commented, “no one came out to see you? Sorry. Yeah I don’t know what to tell you. If you want food go to McDonalds or Whataburger.” There are very few situations that warrant someone hired specifically for customer service to ever treat a customer/potential customer so rudely. And, to recommend such minimal options nearby as if we weren’t in a busy area with a different Mexican food restaurant + bar literally less than a 5-minute walk away (one that is STILL OPEN and has better reviews). So yeah, wouldn’t recommend going here. The food reviews look bad. The menu looked basic. The service was beneath subpar. Clearly, they do not intend to cater to you having a good experience, nor do they view their customers very highly. But, if you do happen upon them late at night, walk a few minutes further toward the mall and hit up Alamo Biscuit Company (the food and service there will be far better).
Went here as the wait time at a neighboring establishment was super long and this place had no wait (should've been a tell tale sign). Took forever for a server to arrive, but no worries, its a friday evening and they are busy, i get it. However, the part that blew my mind, is the food took over 75 minutes to come out. Just 2 of us. Basic entrees. No alcohol ordered. I ordered the beef fajitas and they only gave me 2 very small (albeit delicious tortillas). The beef was dried up and hard to pull apart. Rice was so so. Horchata was made from mix. The brand was rather depressing too. They all seemed like very nice gentleman, truly, but I don't understand the businesses philosophy in having to pay $20 for 1 song. We were there all in all around 2 hours and we didn't hear them play once. Wouldve been nice if they just played every now and again in a central area for the whole restaurant to hear. Probably would attract more customers. Unfortunately between the dead service, questionable beef, and lack of ambiance, I won't be returning.
Got seated right away but after 30 mins we were about to leave and the server came so we ordered. Beer was not cold, and what kind of meat do they use for the fajitas. It came out right away, rice was dry on the plate and the beef fajita meat tastes so bad!! This is San Antonio how dare they. Just don’t. Texture, taste, awful sent back right away and left.
Please don’t even think about giving this place a chance. We ordered guacamole and chips, one plate of enchiladas and Carbon tacos. The guacamole was completely tasteless. The enchiladas didn’t even have salsa, rice and beans were dry and tasteless as well. On top of that, restaurant is in a very bad shape, dirty, old, not well maintained. Restrooms are GROSS. Waiters and waitresses are dirty, service is slow. Really bad experience in general.
I like the club music upstairs it sounds like they had a better time than I did. We had a party of 7 and were seated immediately but the party of 4 who came after we're severed drinks and food sooner than we were. Crispy taco? More like Soggy Taco, that taco plate was more moist than my chapped lips. But hey the kid burger was delicious unironically.
Went to eat here yesterday afternoon, we got sat the host didn’t seem all there and it took a while to see the server the place was dead inside some people sitting outside and honestly this place seems short staffed as well. Our waiter took the drink orders and didn’t have a pen and notebook to remember our drinks and ended up giving me the wrong one, I didn’t ask for a change of drink because they took long enough to attend to us. My girlfriends food had a piece of paper in it as well and the food was just cold and dry, the waiter just seemed like he didn’t like his job. Also we ordered a extra salsa and that even took a extra 20 minutes- I don’t know why considering there was barely anyone eating there indie was empty and outside had about 4 tables seated. For the price too you’re better off going to any other place but this.
The food was not authentic Mexican food at all. The nachos plate was 8 pieces of chips with beans pasted on them with weird large chunks of meat that didn’t taste fresh with some sort of velveta cheese thing melted on them. There was no flavor to the food at all! Don’t waste your money, get real Mexican food elsewhere please! 🙏 Try Maria Bonita if you’re outside the river walk.
