Avis sur Viet-Nam Restaurant San Antonio
This is my go to place for Pho! The broth is always delicious and comes with all the usual fixings. It's a family owned restaurant and I will continue to visit whenever I get a craving for more Pho!
I have been getting spring rolls here since I was a child. They are the best Vietnamese style spring rolls I’ve ever had. Also, you might not like fish (I usually don’t) but you’re gonna love fish sauce. TRUST ME. Do NOT skimp on that sauce they include. I went in the other day to pick up an order and I could literally hear two different tables both talking about the spring rolls. I haven’t eaten anything else here in years. Just give me those spring rolls!!
The pho here tasted clean and balanced. The broth was flavorful without being heavy. The beef was soft and fresh. A simple but very satisfying meal.
My dad was really excited to have spring rolls and crab claws from here for his birthday. We all enjoyed the delicious food so much—we just couldn't get enough of those crab claws!
This place serves first-class Vietnamese pho — truly one of the best I’ve had. The space and atmosphere are pleasant, and the service is great. The staff’s English may not be perfect, but they are very friendly and attentive. The only small downside, especially for someone like me who’s sensitive to smells, is that the building seems a bit old and has that typical “old-building” scent. I’d recommend improving ventilation, but overall it’s a wonderful spot worth visiting.
10/10 on the spring rolls. I’m sure everything else is bomb but for me, it’s the rolls! I dare you to find me a better spring roll in the city. You won’t. You can’t. These are the best! I’ve been coming here since I was young and it’s always been consistent. I know these rolls are going to be delicious every time! The fish sauce has to be homemade or they’re jazzing up a pre-made but either way I can drink it by the gallon. It’s so good. I’ve tried a lot of fish sauce and most are either too sweet or just don’t have a kick. This one is tangy and it just bursts with flavor. I love it. How they manage to make plain lettuce delicious is beyond me but it goes so well with the sauce and rolls. They’re so generous with the lettuce that I think I’ve probably consumed an entire lettuce head in one sitting. The service is good and friendly although I’ve found it’s just better to order once you get there rather than over the phone.
Another place I have past by for years without stopping. Well that ended today. At this time there is a sign at the door asking visitors to wear a mask to enter. You might want to check before you go, or just have a mask ready... It feels like a house inside that at has been separated into several rooms.. My friend and I were blown away. They had the pho and said they loved it and that this may have been the best they had in a long time. I had the basil lunch with beef. Came with white rice and TWO large spring rolls... I'd go just for those rolls! We also shared a cucumber salad, big enough to share and the chicken wings which were also great! We weren't even done with our meal and we were planning our next visit!
This is by far my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in San Antonio. I have been coming here often for the past two years & I always grab a plate of beef vermicelli & some spring rolls. The food is always DELICIOUS. I vary from take out to dining in and either way my food is always fresh, hot & consistently tasty. Don’t be fooled by appearances - I know I almost misjudged this place as it is quite dated and has the smallest parking lot out front but it is most definitely worth it. This became my go-to location for business lunch meetings (pre-covid) & everyone has always raved about how delicious their pho & other menu items are. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Pad Tai was excellent...taste was on point...fresh veggies... Cucumber salad was delicious.... crabmeat Rangoon and egg rolls were very tasty... but the chicken lemongrass dish lacked in taste...very bland...service was so so... never got asked if we needed refills on our drinks.... Cashier was extremely rude... overall, establishment was clean and had a nice atmosphere... but could use better staff ...just a suggestion...
We've been coming here for 20 years. Reliably delicious food. We always indulge in some spring roles to start (to be fair, other reviewers noted that the ends were hard, and two out the six were remarkably tougher than in past visits, and I would guess that that wouldn't translate well in a takeout situation). Spouse gets the seafood curry, always very tempting! kid gets the crab supreme, an expensive meal, but no imitation crab to be found in it. I always get the clay pot fish, a pan seared tilapia in a flavorful sauce. Two of three entrees are generous enough for leftovers. Sweet jasmine tea all around. Wait staff are typically men of few words, but fairly prompt and smiling. $85 for a hungry family of 3.
I haven't been here in quite a while, and the restaurant needs some TLC. The restaurant needs to be updated, pretty old, with old smell. The workers, I saw one waiter, and one cook, need some help with waiting on people. The food came out pretty fast and was relatively good, but we could have used some more refills of drinks. We had the springs rolls, which were really fresh and had great flavor. I had the chicken curry, yellow, which was hot, and had plenty of chicken and fresh vegetables, highly recommend. My girlfriend had the meatball and beef Pho. The bowl was filled with delicious meats and noodles, plenty of jalapeños, and bean sprouts. I did enjoy the food, but I wish they would spend some monet on updating the place. Try them and let us know, and as always, my 2 cents.
The spring rolls were delicious, crispy and very flavorful. Loved the jasmine tea. Lemongrass chicken had very little flavor. Bun was ok, though not at all what we expected, mostly salad very little meat. Service friendly but a little slow.
Fried Spring rolls were great! Service didn't start great, we asked for more time and the waiter rolled his eyes and walked away without a word. Food and flavor was good, but they really skimp on the meat. My wife got 4 pcs of pork and my plate came with about 6 pcs of beef. Had two sweet teas which tasted like lipton. All that and the bill was $57 dollars and some change. Got it out of our system. We won't be back.
Vietnamese food is one of my favorites and while this food was good it didn’t meet my expectations in terms of flavor and freshness. The bun was good but lacked seasoning. The egg rolls were too hard and kind of chewy. Overall I would try the place again in the event it is an off day. But not an immediate favorite. Service was great though and there were some beautiful Vietnamese paintings on the walls. The bathrooms were also very clean.
This was an unforgettable experience. As I came in I've greeted the senior lady in the register with no reply back. As I proceeded to let her know, I was ordering to go, she looked at me like, I was crazy. Not only to make fun of me as a person with a Discapacity (Total Laringectomee). In sign language Ive told her if I could have a menu on which she mocked me again and made fun of me with the cook in the back. All I've wanted was some vegetable egg roll. During the entire time she kept giving me dirty looks and literally took the receipt out my hand. Ive waited about 10 minutes and saw a waiter that could care less about greeting people coming in for dinner because he was too busy on his phone texting and talking to the girlfriend. Place is dated and certainly disappointing. On the way out the lady literally threw the food at me as I said thank you with no reply. I wouldn't recommend this place to any one. If bad service was given to me, makes me wonder what happens with the food in the back.
I have come to this restaurant for over 10 years. Food is always great. Customer service on the other hand is HORRIBLE! The lady at the counter is always rude, doesn’t greet you. Didn’t tell me the price of my food, just demanded my card. She had a very nasty attitude when all I asked was there extra fish oil in the bag after she ignored me when i first asked. Sorry to say but I will not be coming back to this establishment. Service is HORRIBLE. Staff don’t have a care in the world for their customers.
I love pho but i didn't know pho quality can be so poor before this restaurant. Very poor food quality - pork and beef are hard and definitely not fresh (like leftover). Pho soup oily. This is probably the worst pho i have had in the world. I am skeptical about the hygiene in the restaurant. The waiter behaved like he doesn't care about hygiene. I barley write comment but this time i need to write it down as you should not waste ur money here
Very disappointed about this place where we ate many times when we lived in San Antonio but we moved and we are at 3 hours driving now. But we still buy some spring rolls "to go" any time we go to the city of San Antonio, the last time we was surprised about the quality of the rolls, the taste is less and very different than before, but the price is outrageous ($ 13.95 for 8 small pieces) that's the same price that an entree but it's an appetizer ? For sure we don't go to this place again.
WHAT HAPPENED ? ! ? ! I've been coming for my favorite Spring Rolls for years and this experience has changed my mind about ever going back. I paid $15 for a full order to take out. I ate them as soon as I got home without having to reheat them. The ends were so HARD and CHEWY. That same night, I took back the order and showed the elder Asian lady the bits I could not chew but she was unimpressed and didn't want to try to understand what I was saying (as we did not speak each other's language). I told the waiter that even the sauce tasted different and not in a good way. Neither of them seemed to believe me so I didn't even bother to tell them that the fortune cookie tasted OLD and STALE. Later that night, my stomach was really NAUSEOUS for about 2.5 hours. I went back 2 days later for the replacement and the elder lady was so RUDE to me. When she saw me and I said hello, she looked down to resume what she was working on. Then she walked to the kitchen without acknowledging that I was there. The cook came out and told me he makes the rolls himself and that I should not reheat them in a microwave (which I never have). They only gave me HALF AN ORDER!!! I guess they assumed, since I ate some, they would not replace those. I'm not going back unless they get new management.
It's a shame I need to write this review because this used to be a restaurant I really enjoyed. It feels like a ghost of its former self and I didn't feel confident ordering. I ordered some Spring Rolls and got food poisoning from them. The atmosphere is silent and dated with a stale air. It felt like the person who took my order just wanted me to leave as soon as possible. They came out quickly and tasted a bit odd. I understand this restaurant is run by an old couple/family, but this place probably needs to close. I hope nobody gets as sick as I did because it was absolutely unbearable.
