Super shout out to Carlos the manager on duty tonight!!! The food is always good. But the last time I ordered on door dash they didn’t give any hot sauce. I loooove a ton of hot sauce and it makes the meal for me. I didn’t see an option to add hot sauce so I called in. Carlos said he’d make sure there was plenty in there, and oh man, he Hooked it up!! He was super nice and I just want to say thank you :) Idk about the rest of you but Mexican food is not the same without the salsa. Lol
Superb tacos! Friendly staff. Fun place to eat. Kid-friendly and outside seating if you want to bring your dogs. You know this place is great when no one you came with is willing to share their tacos. Drink and food selections are not too diverse but when I asked the cashier what was the best thing on the menu, she answered, 'Everything'.
This is, perhaps, the first taco shop where I took one bite of my food and realized that I should have asked for extra meat if anything. I'm definitely going back. I love the meat here. Very good quality. Update: went back the following day for a crack breakfast burrito. I added grilled onions and cilantro. They gave me some of their extra hot sauce and it was great. Strongly recommend the Crack Taco shop.
Went here last week with my family while in SD! Heard amazing reviews about the corn tortillas so had to come see for myself. Got a tri-tip, al pastor and a Baja shrimp taco to try variety and all were amazing! With an orange bang to drink they’re even better, def can’t wait to come back!
I ordered the 8 chicken rolled tacos meal and they were the best rolled tacos I've had in a long time. They are filled with chicken and no fillers, just chicken. The green salsa is really tasty and just the right amount of heat. I recommend this place if you want great Mexican food for a quality price. I will definitely coming back for sure..5 stars all the way.
I've had Crack Taco Shop bookmarked for a while and finally made it in tonight. We ordered the surf n' turf burrito minus the rice, crack taco and cactus taco with 2 bottled drinks. They also have beers, if you like. For those that don't trust tacos north of the 8 freeway, give these guys a try. I really enjoyed my burrito and their salsas were awesome! Now for the bonus part...this place gets 10 ⭐'s for the music playlist!! Hello 80's flashbacks!!We met Stephanie, one of the managers, when she came by our table to ask if we enjoyed our meal. I asked her who was responsible for the jams and it was HER!!! Awesome tacos at a joint that's run by people with awesome taste in music. Just go here, already!
Delicious food! Tri-Tip tacos are so good and l love the simple bean and cheese burrito 🌯 with rice! 🤤
Tri-tip tacos are divine. All the sides are excellent as well as the fresh tortilla chips and salsa. Always very friendly service. Had a mishap on an order once, and they immediately made it right. Very pleased and will be returning more.
Crack nachos are an excellent choice for sharing or enjoying on your own. They are delicious and satisfying, with the perfect balance of flavors and textures.
Always great with to-go orders. Friendly team, place is clean, and food is always great! We also love that they have a rewards program for discounts. A go-to for quick burritos. Lately it’s been the bacon breakfast burrito, but the fish and tri-trip are also good choices. The crispy potatoes, amount of cheese, and the type of bacon make it a great classic breakfast burrito and the delicious salsa tops it off. Thanks Crack Taco Team! See you again soon!
This is the easiest 5-star rating I’ve given in awhile. Service: A+ Menu: A+ Food: A+ Ambiance: A+ Good to know: NO seed oils, everything fried in Beef Tallow: A++++++++++++ They have done everything right. We sampled about 9000 calories worth of food and every bite was amazing. Everything tasted really clean and fresh. Surf and Turf burrito, absolutely amazing, don’t miss out on this one. Crack Nachos, fish taco, pollo asado, all were divine. We lucked out and got to meet one of the owners who was working tonight, really nice guy, you can tell how much he cares about the product he puts out. Looking forward to trying the rest of their menu and being a regular here!!!
Hungry? Go straight to Crack Taco Shop, the team will take great care of you! Best food to get at any time of day. Already been in a few times since it opened. Joe at the front of house always has such an amazing attitude, and this team really cares about the quality of product they put out. Each bite explodes with flavor. Highly recommend the Crackafornia Burrito (Cali B with WORLD FAMOUS Cardiff Crack) with some churros on the side! 10/10 would recommend. Go support this amazing locally owned taco shop!
Good food! Taco was delicious the tortilla was really good and fluffy, the meat was fresh and hot, however the cilantro and onion seemed old and didn’t have that crunch and flavor that one looks for in a taco. Nachos were so good! This is the first place I’ve seen in this area that actually uses nacho cheese on their nachos 10/10! Atmosphere was good and we’re able to quickly find a table but the place has a distinct smell almost like a carnicería which is understandable because of the meats. Overall great spot and can’t wait to come back!
Wow so so good! I got the Crack burrito with guacamole no pico and am ice cold Happy Dad to wash it down! I asked them to cut it in half so I could eat half and save the rest not a chance it was so good I had to devour it all - the place is super clean and as long as they keep serving Happy Dad flavors I’ll keep coming back!
Started a beautiful day with a Crack Tri Tip Burrito. Quick, delicious by friendly staff! What’s not too like!!
I think I found my new favorite taco shop in San Diego! The crack tacos and al pastor tacos were PHENOMENAL. The meat was so tender on the crack tri tip steak tacos and the meat was nice and charred on the al pastor to give it that authentic flavor. The lady working there was super friendly and helpful. She brought me all the salsas to try with my tacos. All of the salsas were good but I think I liked the "mild" green salsa the best in combination with the other flavors of the tacos. Everything is made fresh and you can tell the difference. I'll definitely be coming back to try more of the tacos and other menu items!
Amazing food went there over the course of of 2 days lunch and dinner the first day and lunch the next. The fountain horchata is awesome and refillable. The chicken quesadilla, the crack taco, the pork taco and a chicken burrito is what I got over the two days. So good I had to go back.
The last time I took a trip to San Diego I came across this restaurant, On the menu they had a chilaquiles plate so I made a special request I asked if they could make me a breakfast burrito with chilaquiles, egg and cheese and they honored the order. I also ordered a chorizo burrito and carne asada tacos for the family everything was very delicious the carne asada tacos had a very good flavor I highly recommend. Will be visiting this place again the next time I'm here. Thank you again for making me the chilaquiles burrito 🌯👍
im a regular here food is amazing service great and also good value and can eat healthy here!!
We tried the veggie burrito (made vegan) tri tip burrito and taco, potato taco (made vegan), and baja shrimp taco. Y’all, that potato taco was amazing. Hard shell tacos are superior and this one truly delivered! The veggie burrito was nothing to sneeze at either! I loved the flavors! My partner also really liked the tri tip burrito and taco. Will be coming back!
This place is amazing! We ordered the Crack fries (Cali fries), Crack nachos (Cali nachos), Mexican Street Corn Nachos, Al Pastor tacos, Crack tacos, and the Crackafornia burrito. Everything was incredibly fresh and packed with flavor. It's hard to choose what I liked best but one thing I appreciate is they use real nacho cheese for their nachos. That's something most places don't do when they have nachos on their menu. So kudos to Crack Taco shop. I also liked their interior style of the place and everyone is friendly as well. Definitely will be going back again soon. 10 out of 10.
Accessibility: I didn't see any wheelchair accessible parking, only normal parking spots and 1 hour regular spots. The door is a pull door, propped open when I came, and the building is all one story, wheelchair accessible, including their one bathroom. They have tons of seating inside as well as outside under a covered patio. All of the seating is wheelchair accessible with moveable chairs (see photos). Experience: friendly employees and the cutest style inside. Shoot, I would love to live here because it's so cute! The food was very good in taste and the price was pretty average. For 3 rolled tacos, another meal, 2 horchatas, 1 chocolate cake and 1 flan the cost was $45 dollars. Honestly the desserts cost almost as much as the meals so if you want to save, skip those (although they were delicious).

I am very picky with my mexican food, due to my mom's cooking and I have to say this place serves authentic Mexican food and with high quality ingredients. That is hard to find. Do not look further. Crack taco shop is the spot. I had their Tacos and was amazed. The birria Taco specifically was mouth watering. I look forward to trying more of their menu. Recommended 1000%.
The Crack Taco Shop might not be the most famous in San Diego, but the Crack tacos here are fabulous! Their claim to fame are their signature tri tip beef tacos, using the San Diego famous Crack Tri Tip beef that is specially seasoned and marinated to perfection. $5 Crack Taco beef tri-tip roast is juicy, tender, and flavorful, with a rich beefy taste and a nice crust for extra texture. Generous spreads of fresh rich green guacoale tops the tasty beef, all of this happieness is wrapped in freshly made tortillas that are made on premise. Pick of one of fresh zesty salsas to perfect it! $5 Al Pastor is nearly as delicious as the tri tip. The sweet pineapple infused pork meat is tender and juicy with a nice crisp char on some bites for that extra sensation. These also come covered in the gradiouse guacaolme and wrapped in the same freshly made in house tortillas. I love the Dia Los Muertos themed décor throughout, very Mexican, very San Diegan, and very very awesome.
Been here on multiple occasions and the California burrito is always consistent and delicious!! Also they have a killer green salsa. Employees are really cool. And the music is cool as well.
I’m not a really a fan of Mexican food. My husband introduced me the this restaurant. I have to tell you the quality of the meat is amazing. When and if I’m a craving or feeling tacos. This is my go to for Mexican food.

Food always taste great, the one and only problem I’ve ever had is my order is wrong 9 times out of 10. I’m not sure if the music is too loud that they don’t hear me correctly. I’m a creature of habit… I order the same thing every time, crack (tri-tip) BREAKFAST bowl.. but instead they always make the salad version instead. Today I was in a hurry and didn’t think to check the order before leaving and when I got to where I was going and my bowl is a salad. There’s nothing more disappointing/frustrating than being excited for your food and then not having what you really wanted. My suggestion is maybe name the breakfast bowl something different.
A really good taco spot in Mission Gorge. They use a tri-tip known as “Cardiff Crack”, that is sold at the Seaside Market in Cardiff. This meat is insane! It is extremely flavorful and savory, and just dissolves in your mouth. While the ‘crack’ taco is the restaurant’s highlight, they also make really great burritos and nachos. And the birria bowl here is wonderful!! This is definitely worth a visit whenever you’re in the College Area.
My first visit here I got a breakfast burrito. Tortilla was heated, but not browned how I like them. I had been wanting to try this place but all the traffic and 5 minute red lights in this area make me eager to put this place in my rear view. If ever you have time on your hands and nowhere to be, head to this place. Next time I visit this place, I will be trying something different…there was no crack in my burro. Staff was friendly and attentive.
The place was really clean and orderly. I ordered the nachos and they were brought out to me quickly. I also bought a Mexican Coke and they had no bottle opener readily available. After looking for one for a couple of minutes I asked the person at the register, who had been watching me the whole time with the coke in my hand mind you, if they had a bottle opener. Usually when you order a Mexican Coke they offer to open it. The nachos were hot and the Carne Asada was flavourful. The cheese used was nacho cheese and shredded cheese on top which was a really nice extra. I love the beans that were included. Overall the food was good! I think it is a little pricey though.
We came here for dinner tonight, ordered the crack burrito, the fried fish taco, and crack fries. My favorite of the three was the burrito. However, it was very wet and greasy. Fell apart by the end, but the flavor was great. The fries were lacking something to me. Maybe ask for chipotle to be drizzled on top? As for the fish taco, it was satisfying, but it’s just not unique enough in a town full fish tacos. I would also skip the canned margarita, had a strange taste. The staff was awesome and quick! Thanks for dinner!
I liked my experience here, and felt the food was very good and enjoyable. The Crack Taco Shop has a spacious interior for solo eaters as well as employees on lunch break. The staff was very welcoming, attentive, and warm. I think for the price, a little more material and flavor (a special interest or something special) could have been added into the tacos and would be appreciated. This isn't factored into my review's rating, but there was a slight hiccup between the first half of the order and the second, and I'm sure it was an anomaly.

*VEGETARIANS PLEASE READ* Went last night, been coming here for a couple years and we enjoy it. Not sure if it's under new management but last night as we were ordering I was choosing between tacos, and apparently they use beef tallow in their potato tacos. The employee said he does have a nopales taco for a plant based option that's not cooked in meat. Appreciated the employees transparency, but not sure if every employee will offer that information, or someone looking to enjoy a potato taco may have sensitivity to meat or avoid for religious purposes would think to ask. Their food is good. I'm a pescatarian so I usually will go for their fish taco. Tortillas are very fresh and they are open late which is a plus. The service is quick and the food is clean and so is the restaurant itself. However they are no longer doing the taco Tuesday plate deal. I still recommend this place because the quality is good, but if you have allergies/sensitivities/restrictions you should ask about your food.

I’ve been here a bunch by myself, the food is ok I like their tri-tip but they loose 2 stars for their kids menu. We all out here trying to feed our kids and your gonna look for margins on your kids menu? $8 for a plate of Costco nachos that cost you maybe fifty cents to purchase and make. Just plain chips and canned nacho cheese. Same with the quesadilla. Moral to the story is don’t order from the kids menu. But stuff like this while it might seem simple will keep me from ever going back to this place.
For a $12 breakfast burrito, you get a pretty decent burrito that will fill you. However, charging $5 extra for just a a few little pieces of bacon is ridiculous. Also, they skimped out on the hot sauces as well. Why? Key to having people come back is quality and understanding what your customers want. Not saying give away stuff, but $5 for probably a piece of bacon and little sauce. Come on. You can do better.
When you hear Crack Taco, you would think they would be so good that you'd want to keep coming back. I had the al pastor & birria taco. My husband had the bran & cheese burrito. I'd say they were mediocre. It wasn't bad, but there are much better taco shops out there. The staff was nice and friendly. The decor was cool. It wasn't too busy and we found a table right away. Not sure if I need to give it another try or just go somewhere else?!?
Price seems to be average for SD but it is expensive. Expect to pay $20 a person, unless your getting tacos but even then 3 will run you $12. We got Nachos and a surf n turf Burrito. TRI TIP Nachos were not layered and overall pretty basic other then the meat they used. The burrito was surprisingly good. Be sure to use the salsa they provide. Overall the food was good and they are open late, downside is the price.
I ordered the regular tri tip burrito to go. It was hot so i didnt open til i got home which is a half hour away and it was NOT what i ordered. So disappointed. Im not a breakfast burrito person and thats what i got even though i ordered the regular tri tip burrito. Make sure to check your order before you leave!
Tortillas are doughy and condiments need to be chopped more, the Al pastor flavor is good, try a better corn/ flour percentage for the tortillas

I’ve never had to use a fork and knife for a burrito before that fell apart from being overly greasy and having watery beans. It was also the most flavorless burrito I think I’ve ever had in San Diego. Apart from that, the cashier that handed us our water cups pressed the lip of the cups against his greasy stomach to stack the cups together. We also witnessed another table send their tacos back because they weren’t correct, and someone else came back in because they only received 2/3 of their order. Don’t know how this place even has 4 stars.
Super disappointed. We ordered 6 Crack tacos & a Chipotle Shrimp Salad. The shrimp were slimy & the salad greens browning & slimy too! I didn't even eat the 15+$ Salad I bought. No energy to complain or go back the 20 miles to Crack Taco. But damn, highly disappointed. The tacos were just ok my son & Husband said.
I will never eat here again just got some pancakes that taste sour!!! I asked for eggs scrambled The owner tells the cook to chop up the old eggs and serve it to me as scrambled nasty work!!! But the kicker when I come in cause I ordered my food he was eating my order the owner and then proceed to tell me oh it doesn’t taste right it took an hour so it doesn’t taste right after a while well, guess what? What the heck you just gave me taste. Disgusting Like it was rotten or something or I don’t know. I need to get the pancakes tested I couldn’t even eat them. I had to keep spitting the food out!!!
I really want to love Crack Tacos because the food is excellent — truly some of the best in the area. But after last night, this was the third time something was missing from my to-go order. Each time I’ve had to drive all the way back, and this time it was in the rain. They also couldn’t credit my card over the phone, which made it even more frustrating. What makes it worse is that I always tip 10–15% for takeout, and I regularly spend between $60 and $120 on my orders. For that level of spending, the very least I expect is for my order to be correct. Instead, I keep running into basic, avoidable mistakes. The woman at the counter gave me a free taco, but the gesture felt disingenuous — more like she wanted to move on than actually take responsibility. And this happened while I was the ONLY customer in the entire establishment. No other distractions, no rush, no other orders. If they can’t get one simple order right under those conditions, I can only imagine how bad the quality control is when they’re busy (if they ever are). Honestly, in a city like San Diego where high-quality Mexican food is everywhere, there’s no reason to keep supporting a business — even one with great food — that repeatedly fails at something as simple as making sure what you paid for is in the bag. There are plenty of excellent taco spots nearby that get it right and actually care about their customers. I genuinely love their food, but I’m done with this place. The repeated failures with to-go orders — especially when I’m the only customer present — are inexcusable. At that point, it’s clear they just don’t care about doing a good job.
