Avis sur Din Tai Fung San Diego
Din Tai Fung was definitely worth the wait. We made our reservations a few hours ahead, drove down from Temecula and arrived right on time. It turned out to be such a great dining experience. I really loved how accommodating they were for our 2-year-old. They had a silicone plate already set up for her, which made it feel extra thoughtful and family-friendly. The food did not disappoint. The Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao was our absolute favorite. so flavorful and perfectly done. Service was great, super friendly staff. We’ll definitely be back!
Great food. Great service. Exactly what you expect from this chain. Having eaten in Seattle and NYC, the San Diego location maintained the high quality. Go for the dumplings and my personal favorite is shrimp fried rice. Wait time was an hour … you can roam around nearby stores.
Great restaurant — there’s a reason it’s so hard to get a table. The food is incredible. I came with a group of friends (three couples), each with a baby, and the staff accommodated us wonderfully. There’s stroller parking in the exterior lobby, but if your child is too young, they will make space for a stroller inside—just be sure to ask. The atmosphere is amazing, and the interiors are warm, though slightly overwhelming. Our server was friendly, attentive, and overall fantastic. The food: We started with the Sweet & Sour Pork Baby Back Ribs, which were delicious—sweet but not excessive. For my drink, I had the Matcha Jasmine Latte, which was amazing; I ordered it plain with no sweeteners. The Shrimp & Kurobuta Pork Spicy Wontons were my favorite dish of the night, and I highly recommend them. The Chicken Dumplings were also a nice addition. For dessert, we had the Shaved Snow with Fresh Mango and the Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao—both excellent.
This was my first time and the experience was nothing less of amazing. The bartender Ally was so sweet and personable. She knew I was from out of town and recommended a Christmas night market . The food was fresh and flavorful. Highly recommend the cucumber salad , pork chop fried rice and and a DTF old fashioned ( Ally, makes them the best, I'm going to sleep like a baby) . Can't wait to return. 1000/10 highly recommend
Worth the hype. Even the appetizers are awesome. Great staff. Very helpful. Very friendly. Favorites were the pork dumplings, chocolate dessert dumplings and the string beans.
I visited Din Tai Fung and it definitely lived up to the hype. The restaurant is famous worldwide for its xiao long bao (soup dumplings), and after trying them, I can see why people line up for it. The dumplings are delicate, juicy, and packed with flavor—the broth inside is rich and comforting. The restaurant itself feels modern and lively, and you can often watch the chefs carefully folding dumplings behind glass windows. Every dumpling is made with precise technique and thin wrappers, which is part of what makes the experience special. I also tried the spicy wontons and noodles, and both were excellent—simple dishes but executed perfectly. The service was professional and efficient even though the place was very busy. Overall, Din Tai Fung is more than just a meal; it’s a dining experience. If you enjoy dumplings or Taiwanese cuisine, it’s absolutely a must-visit spot in San Diego.
Din Tai fung was an incredible experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, and full of flavor — you can really taste the quality in every bite. What truly made the night exceptional was the service. James was our waiter and he was clear, attentive, and completely on top of his job the entire time. He made sure everything came out smoothly, answered all our questions, and made the experience feel effortless. Between the amazing food and outstanding service, this place definitely deserves 5 stars. We’ll absolutely be back!
One of my favorite Asian restaurants in San Diego. Picture this hand rolled dumplings and hand pull noodles. This is a Michelin recommended restaurant for a reason. There’s always a long line so be prepared! Located in utc mall, grants you the advantage of walking around after you stuff your face in dumplings. Recommended Xiao long bao (shrimp, chocolate ) Pork ribs Cucumber Spicy wontons
The food here is phenomenal!! San Diego never disappoints, I always eat good here! The Sweet & Sour Baby Back ribs were perfectly tender and juicy! The Kurobuta Pork Baos were savory! Lastly my dessert, the sweet Taro buns were a deliciously soft low calorie snack ideal for a late night DoorDash order.
Let me address the first question everyone has about this place first: "Is it worth the 3 hours wait?" Absolutely yes! (Although you don't have to be there for the enter the waitlist or can use bar seating too but I think you got my point) This place offers an amazing experience for Chinese cuisine. Everything we tried was amazing (appetizers, drinks, main dishes, and desert)! The service is very professional and they even offered us instructions on how to prepare the sauce or enjoy the food in the authentic way. The dishes are very tasty with a lot of flavors combining and complementing each other. Such an amazing feast of flavors! The location is nice and ambience is chique; yet a bit crowded almost all the time (which is natural due to their popularity) Aesthetics was on point too with the food in authentic looking containers and the drinks served in CB2 hand made cocktail glasses (or exact copy of them).
Great experience and the food was fresh and flavorful. The staff provided excellent service and gave excellent recommendations. A perfect spot for dumplings and don’t miss ordering the cucumber salad and the Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao. PS: highly recommend joining the waitlist early
I'm still on a cloud from my absolutely incredible experience at Din Tai Fung La Jolla! This place is an absolute must-visit for any foodie, and I'm thrilled to share my glowing review! Let's get straight to the point - the food is PHENOMENAL. I ordered a bunch of dishes, and every single one of them exceeded my expectations in ways I didn't think were possible. The spicy noodles? OMG, game changer! The perfect balance of heat and flavor, cooked to absolute perfection. The noodles were springy and chewy, and the sauce was rich and savory, with just the right amount of kick. I devoured the whole dish in minutes, and I'm still dreaming about it. The sesame noodles? Equally delicious, with a delightful nutty aroma that will leave you craving more. The sesame flavor was deep and rich, and the noodles were cooked to a perfect al dente texture. But the real stars of the show were the spicy vegan wontons - WOW! The combination of the crispy exterior and the spicy, savory filling was absolute magic. The wontons were perfectly cooked, with a delicate crunch that gave way to a flavorful, spicy burst. I ended up devouring the whole plate, and I'm still thinking about them. And let's not forget the wonton clear soup - a comforting, soothing bowl of goodness that was the perfect start to our meal. The broth was light and clear, with a delicate flavor that was both refreshing and satisfying. The wontons were tender and juicy, and the scallions added a delightful pop of color and flavor. The vegetarian fried rice was also on point, with a delightful mix of textures and flavors. The rice was cooked to perfection, with a nice crispy edge that added a satisfying crunch to each bite. The veggies were fresh and vibrant, and the seasonings were spot on. And yes, I also tried the chicken dumplings, and they were, of course, perfection. The perfect bite-sized bundles of joy, cooked to a delightful crispiness. The chicken was tender and juicy, and the wrapper was delicate and flavorful. The service? Top-notch, as always. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable staff who clearly take pride in their craft. Our server was happy to answer all our questions, and the kitchen was happy to accommodate our requests. Overall, I'm blown away by the incredible quality of the food, the impeccable service, and the overall dining experience at Din Tai Fung La Jolla. If you haven't tried it yet, RUN (don't walk!) to your nearest location and indulge in some of the best Asian cuisine in town! 10/5 stars, hands down! *My Order:* - Spicy noodles - Sesame noodles - Spicy vegan wontons - Wonton clear soup - Vegetarian fried rice - Chicken dumplings *Would I recommend?* ABSOLUTELY, without hesitation!
Din Tai Fung never disappoints, everything from the dumplings to the noodles is perfectly made, but the real showstopper is their Mango Coconut Snow dessert. It’s light, refreshing, and the perfect way to end a delicious meal. The mango flavor is fresh and vibrant, balanced perfectly with the creamy coconut ice. Service is always friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is clean and modern. Definitely a must-visit spot for anyone who loves great food and wants to finish with something truly special!
This restaurant has always line and waiting list but is worth it, only one in San Diego, my family went here for dinner to celebrate my son’s birthday and all of us is our first time, all the food was delicious we all enjoyed it, we tried mostly everything, we really liked it. They also have takeout.
Din Tai Fung is the kind of place that has relatively few items on the menu, but every single one of them is incredible! They find a way to take something as simple and humble as sautéed cabbage and make it a standout dish. The Xiao Long Bao is delicious and a great mix of textures and flavors. We finished off with the Mango Shaved Snow, which made me think that all other desserts would be envious of it. Our server, Tiana, did such a great job taking care of us from start to finish. She knows the menu and has great recommendations on anything they have (and even a few “secret menu” suggestions). Today was a “kids back to school” lunch date for my wife and me. We can’t wait to come back here with the whole family!
Went for lunch with a party of 3. The wait time can look daunting, but the restaurant is big with plenty of tables - and the waitlist process is easy! Put yourself on the waitlist before you even leave the house and by the time you get there, your table may be just about ready. Hostess was very kind when we arrived to check in and offered to answer any questions we had as first-timers. The seating process was quick and easy, especially when you can look at the menu before seating and decide what you want. Our server Cat was very friendly and accommodating. We were asked by both the host and server if it was our first time and if we wanted anything explained. It all looks very authentic and doesn’t seem to be a bad item on the menu. Everything we ordered was delicious! I am gluten-free and found several dishes to order: greens, fried rice, cucumber salad, etc. The rest of my party was not gf and enjoyed all of the buns. Definitely don’t skip on a beverage! I ordered matcha milk tea with boba and it wasn’t too sweet, and the boba was soft and delicious. Will definitely go back and recommend to friends!
One of my favorite restaurants. Their spicy chicken wontons and dumplings are some of the best. Everything is made fresh. I’ve tried many things on their menu and they’re always delicious. Their cocktails are amazing too. I would highly suggest to make a reservation ahead of time due to the popularity of this restaurant.

We’ve wanted to visit Din Tai Fung for a while and while in San Diego, I was able to get a reservation for a Monday birthday lunch! Though, as first-timers at UTC, it took us some time to figure out parking and locate DTF, so we were 15 minutes late to the reservation. Thankfully, the staff did not charge or remove us from the list, but we had to wait for around 10 minutes for the table. From there on, the service was good but you can tell they are very busy and there’s a lot of hustle and bustle, even for a Monday. The lychee martini and mojito were super tasty and refreshing! We got the cucumber salad, which was delicious but not sure it’s worth the price. The peanut noodles were good but the best part were the dumplings, especially the soup dumplings and the directions they give for people who are new to the concept. I’m glad we got to experience DTF but would recommend you go for an event or occasion rather than going for a casual meal.
YES, is true. Its complicated to have a reservation for 7, we waited more than 2 hrs on a waiting list. This place has great food and the service is vey helpful. I strongly recommend 4 thing: Kurobuta Pork XLB Chicken Spicy Wontons Noodles w/ seasame sauce Chocolate & Mochi XLB Ley me know if you liked my recommedations

My wife and I were in San Diego for a quick getaway and had identified Din Tai Fung as a place we wanted to hit based on reviews, and honestly, it was just okay. Even at 2pm the place was a madhouse, which set the expectations pretty high, but the food didn’t quite deliver. • Hot & Sour Soup (Pork): Pretty standard—nothing that stood out. • Crab & Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao: Disappointing, especially given this is supposed to be their signature dish. We’ve had much better versions at traditional dim sum spots. • Shrimp & Kurobuta Pork Spicy Wontons: Tasty, but nothing special • Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao: This was the surprise hit of the afternoon! Unique, well-executed, and easily the highlight of the meal. Service was solid and professional, but overall, the food just didn’t justify the wait or the hype. For me, this was a 3-star experience—glad we tried it once, but with all the options in the San Diego area probably won’t go back.
The food was disappointing. Eight spicy wontons appeared as one wonton as the 8 were all stuck together. Impossible to separate.
