One of the best places in all of San Diego for Cantonese duck, and Cantonese food in general. Free parking lot can be tight, especially during the dinner hour

The roasted duck here sooo nice, duck so crispy and juicy. If you like Cantonese style food, must try here.

Also got pork belly with preserved vegetables not pictured. The food was very good and very filling

We got the Peking duck and a few sides (favorite was cucumber). Everything was stellar and perfectly seasoned. Crowded but quick service…will definitely be returning.

This is the best Cantonese restaurant in SD!! I ordered the roast duck, pea pod leaves with garlic and the steamed fish. All the dishes are very fresh and delicious. You can’t miss out on this place if you like cantonese cuisine. Will definitely come back!!

Great new Cantonese restaurant with some great classics. The main ones to try are the Peking duck and lobster noodle. For 2 people we got the duck and tofu claypot. Both were amazing but way too much for 2 people. Came out to 40$ per person plus leftovers. Would recommend dinner on a weekday due to long wait times otherwise.

Good place, possibly best Cantonese duck I have had anywhere (in the world). Nice options to mix meats. Chicken fried rice and noodles were pretty good to ok, but it would be mean of me to lose this place a star because of this (still better than most places). Service was good and friendly.

I just bit the bullet. Tuesday nights are still a wait but it was way better. We all come for the food right? Well it’s definitely setting a new standard at least for convoy. Competition is starting to get steep. The Lobster Noodles were fresh, juicy, tender, and a good size. I’d say around 2 lbs after cooking. I’m honestly pretty impressed with ‘em. We also had the braised sliced abalone (my god yes), crabmeat fish maw soup, and bbq pork belly (personal favorite). The soup helps to balance out the pork belly after a while. All in all, the food is fantastic! As 3 people we even had a little left to take home. The service ain’t so bad either, the staff filled the teapot without having to ask, came and checked on us multiple times, ordering was prompt and courteous. Not much more to ask, they tick all the boxes for me. If you want a place that reminds you of home, from the background chatter, to the servers bustling around you, to every last morsel, then you can’t miss this spot.

First time here last week. Delicious abalone. Can't think of the last time I was able to have that. And the mustard greens were fabulous too. My friend gave a big thumbs up to the honey walnut prawns and pork fried rice. I'm quite sure we'll be back. Maybe even next time enjoy the group menu that our server said could easily accommodate 10 to 12.

Go early if you don’t want to wait or call ahead for reservation if you have a large party. We arrived at 5:45PM on a Friday evening. Got a table for 3 immediately. There were only 2 tables available. They were already busy. We ordered two items combination platter(pork belly and roast duck), lobster in ginger and scallions with noodle, and salty fish&chicken with eggplant. Food was good quality: skin of roast duck and pork belly was crunchy; meat was tasty; lobster was fresh in good size; and eggplant has good texture (not soggy at all!). My kid really like plum sauce that came with the roast duck. Definitely will go back to try other dishes or get takeout!

Delicious, authentic cuisine. The best Peking Duck on the west coast! Don’t hesitate on trying this spot. Great customer service as well.

The food is excellent and good service! We had the the Peking Duck ( 2 course) , Beef Chow fun, white rice, Chinese broccoli. The restaurant seating capacity is small could be a long wait depending on the time of dining.

Small place with large Cantonese flavors. The first thing on the table is a pot of HOT green tea. Pour your guests cup first! As you sit, you gaze upon hanging roasted ducks and pork belly in a case waiting for service. Food is served family style with small bowls of steamed rice. You hold the bowl of rice, select a tidbit of one of the dishes and suspend it over the rice. Any juices or sauce that falls flavors the rice. You consume the tidbit and then a bit of the rice. Rinse and repeat. Just like you're in Hong Kong.

This is a little restaurant kicking out some beautiful dishes. I came here for the Peking duck but we will get to that. I came in here for a to go lunch order because I heard a lot of good reviews on the duck. The gentleman at the front was very friendly. He smiled and gave a warm welcome while offering me a menu to view. The menu is vast and even has banquet meals. The large party tables have a spinning center so the family can spin every option you choose to share. I must point out I came right at a heavy lunch rush and my food came with in 30 minutes. Everything was cut fresh. The bao buns came steaming and soft, and the full portion Peking duck was chopped down to precision. The duck was a perfect portion for 2, and was so so good! Packed with flavor and was crispy! It was a 10 out of 10 for me. I also tried the wonton soup, it was delicious but I think the broth could have had a little bit more flavor, and a little more vegetables would have been great. But there was plenty of wontons so I can't complain. Every dish I watched hit the tables as I waited for my order looked so good I must find time to sit in and order a few dishes. Easy 5 stars ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️

My go to place for great Chinese food. Ordered the beef chow fun and the pork belly with preserved vegetables. Both were tasty and very good. The beef in the chow fun was so tender and the noodles were perfect consistency. My go to place!

Amazing lunch at Eastern Dynasty! We ordered the lobster salt & pepper with noodles which was absolutely delicious and highly recommend. We also got the steamed Chilean sea bass which was a perfect balance to the lobster. The service was great and everything came out pretty quick. Delicious and recommend stopping by!

Best Chashu I’ve ever had. Ever! But I’m a bit surprised it was only a 4.2. It seems way better than that. The duck was excellent, the shrimp dish was just aight but no other complaints. I get there’s a lot of competition in the vicinity but it’s on my new go-to list off Convoy. I recommend.

Found this restaurant about 2 weeks ago and we’ve been there twice. My husband and I were so happy to have discovered it. I was craving for Chinese food and saw this place. We tried it and got hooked. For this visit we had honey walnut shrimp, steamed whole fish, salt n pepper pork chop, Chinese broccoli with garlic, yang chow fried rice, kung pao chicken, and egg drop soup. They were all so tasty. It was around lunch time and it got busy pretty quickly. Their service is so fast too. Very friendly staff. It’s now our fave Chinese restaurant. 1st time we went there we had their whole lobster with scallions, Honey Bbq pork, French beef, and roasted duck. Seasoning was on point. Can’t wait to bring my family and friends here. Next time we go back we want to try their Peking duck and I’m sure it would be delicious too.

We came for my husband’s Birthday dinner & everything was so delicious. Andy and his team were super attentive. Not our first time here and definitely not our last. If you’re looking for great authentic Cantonese food - this is a must - you won’t be disappointed!!! We came from north county - soooo worth the drive

On a Sunday night. We had a group of 12 and ordered the $498 family meal plus a lobster with noodles. This is my 2nd time there. The place was packed. It is a small restaurant. there were 4 large groups, as well as couples and groups of 4. The food was good, not your panda express kind of food. And the service was top notch. Food came out fast. They even changed out our eating plates. Even with 12 people, we had 8 to go boxes.

The perfect menu for first-timers at Eastern Dynasty—especially with three or four people—is to order family-style and share everything. This is the kind of place where the table becomes the experience. Start with the noodles. You can’t go wrong with the soy pan-fried noodles or the Singapore noodles—both are excellent and give you two very different but equally satisfying flavor profiles. The Kung Pao chicken is the clear winner across the board. It’s bold, balanced, and addictive. I highly recommend ordering an extra one to go for the next day—you will be dreaming about it. If you’re feeling a little daring and want something different, add the mapo tofu. It’s fascinating: not spicy-hot, but infused with numbing Sichuan peppercorns that create a playful, tingling sensation on your tongue. The texture is silky and comforting, almost reminiscent of egg drop soup in the best way. Finally, don’t skip the lobster ginger scallion noodle plate. It’s massive, almost decadent, and absolutely worth it. Rich, aromatic, and deeply satisfying—perfect for sharing and ending the meal on a high note. Eastern Dynasty nails both classic favorites and adventurous dishes. It really is an impressive experience for the pallette.

Came here with friends for dinner and it was clearly a popular spot—we had to put our name down and waited about 30 minutes for a table. Totally worth it though! Once seated, service was good and pretty quick, even with how busy it was. Everything we ordered was solid, but the Peking Duck is the real standout and absolutely worth getting. It comes in two courses: first, the crispy duck meat and skin served with soft bao buns, then a second course of ground duck served with lettuce wraps. Both were delicious and full of flavor. If you’re planning a dinner out and don’t mind a bit of a wait, this place is definitely worth checking out—especially for the duck!

Our group of 4 people order 4 main dishes and 2 bowls of rice to start. Every dish was delicious. Eggplant and fish, French style beef, shrimp and vegetables, and roast duck were perfect. The chef even accommodated our request. The wait staff were efficient and helpful. Hopefully, the pictures will be helpful and appetizing. We arrived at 1pm on a Saturday and there was no line at all, seated immediately. Parking, well, we parked on the nearby street; parking here is tough so plan on circling the lot of parking nearby.

西湖牛肉羹 - Beef soup with cilantro. I HATE this soup but my wife loves it. Though I hate it, I've to admit they did an excellent job with the soup. The egg wash was done with perfect balance. The beef was cut perfectly. It's not minced. And flavor was good. 鹹魚雞粒炒飯粒炒 - Chinese anchovies chicken fried rice - This dish is how you can tell if they are traditional Cantonese style cuisine chef. It was well done. Not everyone like this dish because of the Chinese 燒肉燒鴨雙拼 - roast pork and roast duck combo - Impressive. The skin of the roast duck is crispy and the flavor was very good. It's legit! Roast pork was excellent at well. However, I prefer a more intense flavor. The skin was crunchy too. I'm delighted to find such good Cantonese cuisine in San Diego. I wish I've tried the beef chow fun and sweet and sour pork, that'll tell how good this place is.

This is a small Chinese restaurant specializing in Cantonese cuisine. This is our second visit and were not disappointed at all. The cold chicken is delicious and served with an onion and ginger sauce. The calamari was a bit tough but very fresh. The roasted pork belly and fried tofu is delicious. Each portion was just the right size to share for two people. The whole dinner was about $48. Nit bad for three dishes. The place is clean and well maintained. The staff is very attentive and the manager checks on every table. They have wine and beer. Our tea came with the diner. The service was quick but not overtly fast. Just the right pace. Typical, dishes come out as they are ready, so our cold chicken hit the table first, followed by the fried calamari and then the clay pot. Highly recommend this award winning restaurant !

I heard so many good things about this restaurant and finally came to check it out with my friend. Their foods are pretty authentic and delicious. We ordered a two item combo from their Cantonese special meats - roasted duck and salty chicken. I love both, especially the duck, the skin is crispy, the meat is not really fatty. We also had a eggplant & salty fish clay pot, it’s really yummy! And their special fried rice noodles are good too. I highly recommend this place.

Authentic Cantonese food. We normally head here to eat when relatives are in town as they have a pretty good family banquet set at a reasonable price. The food is consistent and usually comes out relatively quick. While the menu doesn't necessarily compares to what you might find in LA the food is tasty. Kitchen does close at 8:30, so come during dinner time or pick another resturant who opens later. No late night snacks here. The lines on Thursday night was non existent, so perhaps if deciding between the two nights to go out, come Thursday rather than Friday. Parking is still a nightmare in that center (even with handicap) so park on the street. Last night we came to celebrate my dads 94th birthday (relately low key affair) and he was pretty happy with his lobster lo mein, bbq duck/roasted pork plate, fish, tofu/mushrooms, and garlic pea pods. Since it was his birthday the resturant gave him 壽桃 (longevity birthday buns with red bean filling) to celebrate. They even did it after they closed the kitchen. He was very happy. Thank you for a great bday dinner for my dad.

They only take rsvp if more than 5 or 6 people. Best Cantonese cuisine in town. Come early so you don't have to queue. If not, the wait is usually 30' to an hour. The servers can speak English & Cantonese. Their cold steam chicken & beef chow fun & fried rice are amazing. I always order them dining in. Went there for a early evening dinner at 5pm and the seating was great because no one was there. But 15-20 later they started to get a rush. Plus online orders were coming in. Even with the rush after we arrived the customer service remained great as if we were still the only customers.

Probably one of the best Chinese food restaurants in San Diego. Shopping center and area has several oriental restaurants. The food at this restaurant was very good, spicy and a little hot. It's a small restaurant and it's very busy all the time, specially on weekends. The area is crowded and hard to find parking. Overall the restaurant is great but to crowded for me. Service was also excellent.

This was packed out. Once you get inside the service was pretty good, the food is awesomeness and full of Flavor. We had the French style beef, pan fried noodles with chicken, roasted duck, chicken friend rice and a few other items. All the food was really good. The only reason I’m giving it a 4 is because of the wait time, we were quoted an hour and it took an hour and a half.

We recently dined here with friends based on their recommendation. Overall, it’s a fairly typical Cantonese restaurant. The dishes were solid across the board. We especially enjoyed the Pepper Garlic Lobster, which had great flavor, while other dishes leaned toward the lighter and more delicate side typical of Cantonese cuisine. If you enjoy Cantonese food, this is a reasonable option in the area.

We came here for lunch. 8 of us ordered 6 dishes to share. It was the perfect amount. For choice of three, i ordered BBQ pork, roast pork and roast dark. I really liked the roast pork. The house special pepper beef was great. The meat was very tender. Highly recommended. I also really liked the water spinach with garlic. The boiled spicy fish and pork chop were good but not as good as other dishes we ordered. The fried flat noodles with beef got good flavor but i preferred wider flat noodles. Overall, these Cantonese dishes are tasty for the area. It’s usually pretty busy so i would recommend make a reservation. The staff was friendly and i was able to order in Cantonese with them 😆

We came to Eastern Dynasty Restaurant for a weekday lunch and were surprised that the restaurant was not full at all. A year or two ago, people would have lined up for the restaurant to open to get in. Today was our luck day as there were plenty of parkings everywhere in the same plaza as Jeong Won BBQ & BonChon, etc. Normally, it’s a challenge to find parking. The waiter greeted us warmly and sat us down immediately and served us the free hot tea. Restaurant is small but clean with relaxing vibes. The dishes we ordered were salty fish & chicken tofu clay pot, pea pod leaves sautéed in garlic sauce and the deli BBQ combo of roast duck and roast pork belly served with the usual hoisin and the tangy plum dipping sauce. The tangy dipping plum sauce was “chef’s kiss” as it paired so well with the deli BBQ combo especially the roast duck. Food did not disappoint and it was not greasy or salty like a lot of Chinese dishes found in most restaurants here in San Diego. The only suggestion for improvement was for the salty fish & chicken tofu clay pot dish as the portion was on the smaller side and the taste was rather bland. It could have been better to include more ingredients to bring out the salty fish flavor for the dish. The pea pod leaves was cooked to perfection as the veggie retained the green freshness look and taste. The roast duck was moist with the familiar delicious crunchy skins. The roast pork belly was our favorite as the spices used took us way back when we were in Hong Kong. So good. The portions were on the smaller side and the restaurant charged $2 for one bowl of white rice, ouch! It’s a criminal act to charge for cooked rice in a Chinese restaurant. This is a solid Cantonese restaurant. Service was quick and waitstaff members were kind, friendly and the tea kept coming upon request; the waitstaff provided useful information to help us decide on which dishes to order. We enjoyed our meal at Eastern Dynasty and will definitely visit again to try other authentic Cantonese dishes.

This is a relatively small Chinese restaurant on Convoy. I highly recommend that you make a reservation in advance. We over heard that the wait was going to be 15-20 minutes for a party of 3 at dinner time on a weekday. We ordered 8 dishes. All came out pretty quickly. The roast duck bun was amazing. Buns were nice and soft, and the roast duck was made to scrumptious and made to perfection. My family liked the pork belly the most. The pea pod leaves in garlic sauce was my personal favorite since I prefer a good veggie dish anytime. I won't recommend the soup or the house steam chicken. Chicken was dry and tasted old... service was quick. My only complaint was the poor soundproofing of this restaurant. It's so noisy inside you can hardly have a conversation with the person next to you.

The servers might need to organize themselves better to serve dishes on time to clients.

I always dreaded this parking lot. It’s so tight and small. We got here at 6pm to meet our friends at 6:30pm. We got seated at 6:20pm. Get here early if you want duck. There were 3 left, by the time we got to our table we saw one. When it was our turn to order, they ran out. Food came out fairly quickly. Don’t expect any social distancing in here. The tables are close in proximity and the place is packed. We ordered: -Walnut shrimp-large shrimp was a plus. -Pea pod leaves Veggies -Lobster with noodles - I asked what’s popular and they recommended garlic and scallions. You should ask for the secret sauce and go without the noodles if you’re already ordering a noodle dish. I did not like the noodles. It was soggy. -Beef chow fun -4 item Combination plate (since they ran out of duck) chicken, jelly fish, char sui, pork belly Honestly, I think the hype has to do with a Cantonese restaurant opening. That it’s been awhile since this cuisine came into town. Otherwise, I think their food was average. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t exceptional. I can get the same items at Phuong Trang or Golden Island without having to deal with the crowd or parking madness. Didn’t get to try the duck but based on the 4 combo items, it’s comparable to other bbq places nearby.

Christmas Day to go out is already crazy. Waiting line was around 1 hour. The food was a bit salty but delish like usual. Temperature wise… they forgot about us. Gave the same orders to other tables first and they arrived and ordered after us. Our table was practically empty for 30 minutes. The beef rice noodle was just laying there and then delivered to our table cold. I told the, I think, manager, but his response was just “Oh”. LOL. Also, their register machine got jammed. And I was not given the receipts, he just changed the subject. Had to ask another waiter and sum up with the menu to see everything was in place. I like this place, and I wouldn’t excuse their bad attitude and service of today because of the amount of work they have.

请问你们的菜是不是用预制菜做的? 我现在正积极在圣地亚哥找不用预制菜的饭馆。 The food is delicious, and the price is reasonable. But I do not like the way for payment. Instead of giving you a bill the girl takes the phone to come to you shows you bill on the phone and let you pay. it is not a good 1. let you pay quickly because she waiting there. You do not have time to look carefully. 2. The tip options are 18%, 25%, and 30 %. They are too high. 3. I chose 18% but she finally charged me 25% without getting my permission. So this is not a polite way to do business. I hope they change, as I never see any restaurant charge this way.

The food came out quickly. Moderately priced and authentic, however it just was not all that tasty. It will suffice if you are Chinese and missing some Chinese food in San Diego, but nothing special. Decently large portions though! The owners and servers are all kind and the restaurant is nice.

Restaurant for cantonese style of Chinese food. It was a bit blander than I expected. The beef chow fun and cucumbers were our favorite. The eggplant dish our 2nd favorite. Don’t bother with the string beans and shrimp or the mustard greens. It was bad but it didn’t wow us and we aren’t sure we will be back. However, if you’re not a fan of spice or Szechuan style, then you should check this place out. We must just prefer a different style of Chinese cooking.

Duck I was told was good however Kung Pao chicken was like eating dessert with chicken. Loaded with sugar and salt( no idea why). Needless to say it wasn’t good. Maybe other dishes are good however I don’t think I’ll return. The service is good.

The BBQ plate was awesome but the rest of the food didn't really taste like Cantonese cuisine. I'll say this. The food tastes good as Chinese food. However if you're able to distinguish Cantonese cuisine, then you may not appreciate this place. Plus...no AC. Very stuffy.

When we came in, there was a table available but they made us wait ~10min to be seated. It didn't really make sense to us. When we sat down and ordered, the service took forever. The food we ordered was so bland. What we ordered: - beef chow fun: there was no flavor, no salty taste or soy sauce. it just didn't taste like anything but bland. the beef was cooked well though and there was a nice smell of wok on the noodles, just wish it had flavors then it'd be perfect. 2.5/5 - choice of 2 platter (honey bbq pork, pork belly): the pork belly was yummy, the crunch on the skin and the seasoning. the honey bbq pork was okay. both came at room temperature, we had to buy a bowl of rice to eat with it. 3/5 - assorted mushroom pepper steak: there was a lot of mushroom, the beef was delicious. it was well seasoned however way too oily. there was a literal pool of oil underneath the food. 2.5/5 - general (tsao) chicken: it tasted just like orange chicken. the breading was thick but the chicken was at least there. it was decent. it wasn't very crunchy and came at near room temperature. 2.5/5 Overall, if you're trying to go on a diet or eat healthy in the sense of bland food, this is a place for you. if you want a well seasoned, warm/hot food when it arrives, this isn't for you. I wouldn't go back.

I was deeply disappointed with our visit to Eastern Dynasty. Overall, the food was below average, and the servicing timing was not great despite the servers all being nice. My wife had been craving Peking Duck for the last month or so and we finally had an opportunity to go to with family to get that and a few other dishes. In the order we were served, we got bbq pork belly, beef chow fun, dry fried green beans, peking duck, steamed sea bass, chinese broccoli, orange chicken, and honey walnut shrimp. The bbq pork came first and was very crispy, but dry. The beef chow fun came next followed by the green beans were the highlight of the night. The Peking duck first course was crispy, but most of the pieces had little to no meat. We have had Peking duck before and it was surprising to have so little meat in the first course. We thought perhaps there would be more in the second course. The sea bass was perfection. The Chinese broccoli came out and was average, we’ve definitely had better. The walnut shrimp came out next and was really disappointing. It tasted like it was just fried and covered in mayo rather than an actual sauce made for the shrimp. The second course of the Peking duck came out and it was just duck. We were shocked. I kept looking for the usual vegetable mix with water-chestnuts, but it was just the minced duck. Finally we got the orange chicken, which was made with real orange, but was overly sauced. And we found that the tea in the pot was a single bag of tea. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but at least in other places if they use tea bags, they empty it into a tea strainer to make it look loose leaf. The timing of food arrival was off. I can understand if dishes were brought out as they were completed since it wasn’t set courses, but it seemed offset by about 5 minutes. Nothing was piping hot.

It was my first experience, the food was good, but there was a stone in the food that could have knocked out my teeth. The staff's attitude and service were terrible. I have never seen such rude staff before.

Came here with the family this past weekend because a friend of mine kept raving about this restaurant, so instead of going to our normal restaurant we decided to try this place since it also got good reviews. First the place had no AC and was super muggy and hot. So we asked for ice water instead of tea. My understanding was this supposedly a nicer restaurant than the one we usually go at Ranch 99, but who the heck uses red cups for water. Like come on not a single restaurant let alone a dive bar uses red cups. I felt like I was at a college house party ready to play flip cup. Personally I think it's a bit tacky. Next we ordered our dishes...9 of them since there were 9 of us. Normally at our usual restaurant we would have plenty of food. Well the plates were really small, almost like personal size. The food though taste and presentation was really good except for the orange chicken. The orange chicken was horrible it didn't even taste like chicken, but more like a processed chemical flavor. Finally we thought we ordered 9 dishes but only 8 came out. We asked the waiter if that was all the dishes we ordered and he said yes. So when the bill came out the ninth dish was on the receipt haha, so obviously we pointed that out and had it removed. Not really any sort of apology for that, service was below par. We won't be coming back here.

My takeout order of house special children had gone bad. Will never order again. They probably save the leftover for online order and do not care online order customer. I completely trashed the bad chicken as it probably will cause me sick if I had consumed it.
