We were looking for a quick yummy taco Tuesday heading to the airport. My son found this place. WHATTTTT A treat!! Service was quick n guy was super nice. Food was FANTASTIC! I got one of each street taco. Yummers My son got 6 4 pastor n 2 carne...Delicious!! Great price too!! I highly recommend when down this way!

Never disappoints. I tried something different- the Acapulco Shrimp cocktail with clamato. It was served with crackers and the portion was pretty big. It was fresh with avocado, onions, cilantro, lime and tomatoes covered with clamato. The clamato was mild, not spicy. The shop has salsa available so you can spice it up if you like. It was served in a container ith a lid - good thing because I had to take half of it home. There were large shrimp as well as some shrimp pieces. Delicious and I would order it again. The restaurant was clean and has nice decor, plenty of seating and the staff were friendly and service was quick.

Were close to the Pacific Beach area and saw this taco place on Google Maps. It was on Morena, so it was pretty close. We decided to give it a try, especially given that it had very high ratings. Definitely didn't disappoint. We tried the pollo asado burrito and the carnitas taco. Both were excellent. The carnitas was nicely done. Crisp yet chewy on the inside. We had a side of chips and beans and the red salsa was amazing. Definitely worth the ratings. Thanks for watching!

This place is so yummy, we came for lunch and then again for breakfast the next day. Their Carnitas Burritos are delicious, the carnitas is cooked perfect, and you get big chunks of meat. We also had the Albóndigas soup, which was full of flavor, the Huevos Rancheros was great, and I'm glad we got the Chips & Guac--this place has great Guacamole! They also have this really special dessert item, it's like fried pieces of a very flaky dough, almost like a cracker of some sort, covered in cinnamon and sugar. They are seriously spectacular, and you cannot leave here without getting a pack of them. Definitely come here, everything is so very good, the staff is kind, and the next time I'm in the area, this is for sure the spot :)

7$ for two large Mexican cokes. Food was delicious, service was fast. There was parking available at 0930 on a Tuesday. Would come again! 12$ for a California Burrito. It could have easily fed two. They have a .30 cent surcharge for credit card.

I had two fish tacos. They were simple and delicious. I would definitely go back, I wish they had a taco sampler. If they do, I sadly missed it. The man who took my order was so nice, as a solo diner it was a great experience, easy filling meal and I didn’t even get the rice and beans! (Next time 😉)

We picked some food up on the way to the hotel. Food was SO good we came back for more 2 days later. We tried the taco Tuesday offer for 7 dollars. 3 mini tacos, and a drink. We had the fish and shrimp tacos. Also tried the chicken enchiladas. Everything was amazing but you have to get the steak tacos. So so good and very generous!

This restaurant showed up, and after reading the existing reviews, I had to give it a try. I ordered their Taco Tuesday special and California Burrito. Amazing prices considering it's 2024 California. (Can be seen in the photos) This place does not disappoint. The flavor here is unique and authentic. It's interesting how you can go to any Mexican restaurant in San Diego, and each has its own distinct flavor. JV's Mexican Food is built different. The food here is the best Mexican food I have ever tasted. The people here bring Mexico to the States. Burritos the size of your hand, prices you can't beat for the portions and quality of food you're getting. This place is so amazing, you can't miss it if you're in San Diego. It's a must-try for anyone who loves Mexican food. This has quickly become my go-to spot whenever I'm in the area. Whether you're a local or just visiting, JV's Mexican Food is a culinary experience you won't want to miss.

JV’s Mexican Food was a local restaurant with a very personable friendly vibe. They had a lot of unique and interesting options and I wish I lived in the area so I could try more of them. Their refried beans and rice were excellent as were their enchiladas (chicken and beef). I liked their green sauce it was very flavorful and not too spicy. Oh - great prices for the amount of food. One entree easily fed two of us.

People were really friendly, especially the lady, super sweet! Our food came fast. The burritos were delicious. The meat was for me personally a bit too dry. I loved the beans on the side! This place used to be really good. Fresh and well done. I dont know what happened over the last few months but this place dis a complete 180 on their food. The people are still very nice but I dont even recognize the food anymore. I ordered a shrimp burrito and got cooked tomoatoes, rice and one shrimp....never seen a burrito like that and I've lived in san diego for 32 years.... The fish taco was litterally fish sticks and iceburge lettuce.... Really big bummer after loving this place for so long. The prices went up and the food went way way down.

Disappointing experience today. We’ve been coming to JV’s for years because my mother-in-law loves it for quick Mexican food, and it’s usually been a good experience, until today. The woman at the register was extremely snappy and impatient with us. When we asked for a fork, she responded with a nasty tone toward my mother-in-law. When I asked for a knife, I got an annoyed look like I was asking for a favor instead of basic utensils. What really left a bad taste was watching her immediately switch to being cheerful and friendly as soon as male customers stepped up. The contrast was obvious and uncomfortable. If the food is just “fine,” then customer service really matters. And today it completely missed the mark. Customer service like this ruins the experience. Basic courtesy shouldn’t depend on who’s standing in front of you.

I was starving before we stopped here. I was really excited to try the Mexican food. We got mole enchilada with a side of black beans and salad. The beans were slimy with no flavor. It was pretty disappointing. The tacos had double tortillas and had a lot of potential for great meaty tacos but the cilantro and inconsistently sized onion pieces that didn’t make the taco look appealing took the show for that. The rice pudding was a little undercooked but the flavor was good. Overall, it could have been better. The red rice tasted like it was overnight and super dry. I do appreciate how clean the restaurant is and the bathrooms. The food is just survival food. I wouldn’t expect to get blown away or wowd.

I love JV’s, but… they really did us wrong this time. The chips with guac had less guac than two of the ten rolled tacos we ordered. The torta was pretty burnt and half was split lengthwise and cut in half, making it really hard to pick up without losing the contents. I love the huge menu, and the workers are great, but I’ll never order a torta or chips and guac here again. I basically have to make my own dinner at home while my family eats their Mex order.
