Stumbled upon this place on my way to a hiking trail and it did not disappoint. I feel like the challenge with local coffee shops is that the drinks come out too milky or not flavorful. Kakawa does not have that issue, the drinks were so balanced and special. Their breakfast sandwich was light and tasty too. I’ll be going back to grab another cup and a bag of beans:)

Cozy coffee shop in Point Loma with excellent service. High quality curated coffee by owner that is ethically sourced. Espresso beans make a great gift.

A nice and interesting place to get coffee! I enjoyed trying a new coffee, a matcha Coconut iced latte. I also loved they had some gluten free treats to enjoy as well. There were some seats to chat for a little while and relax. Overall a nice neighborhood spot!

Kakawa provided Coffee and Hot Cocoa for my students and their families at our semi-annual Piano Recital in Point Loma. It was so nice to have everything taken care of-cups, drinks, creamer, sugar, etc. The coffee and hot cocoa were excellent as was their service (as always). There was also more than enough for everyone. Thank you Gladys for going above and beyond and making my event amazing! I look forward to our next recital!

Wow the Arabian Mocha is DELICIOUS. You can really taste the different unique flavors with each sip. It's probably the best mocha I've ever had. The quiche is amazing as well! You've got to try this place!! Very kind staff also

Love this place. This is our go to in OB. My wife and I have been coming here for years. Whether it's dropping to get a quick caffeine fix or to hang out and catch up, this place is our jam. The drinks are all coffee forward and they use nothing but the highest quality ingredients. Gladys, the owner, is one of the best, she's been doing it for years and takes a ton of pride in her coffee. Every beverage has been thoughtfully crafted and intentionally made, moreover the Arabian/Latin influence of the drinks is superb. Personally recommend the Mayan Mocha (with hints of Cayenne), the Arabian Mocha (infused with Cardamom) - even the sweet drinks are lighter on the sweet. We have a young daughter and she loves going there to see the owner and baristas - she'll sit and talk to them for hours during slow times. The ambiance is cool, hints of culture throughout with that neighborhood coffee vibe. They're a staple in the OB/PL area. Don't miss it!

Fantastic coffee shop. Great selection of seasonal drinks. Friendly and helpful staff. I had 3 different drinks while we were in town: gingerbread latte, polar mocha and Mexican mocha. The shop is small, but there is seating inside and outside. Bonus: They know what a steamer is, so our granddaughter was really happy.

Best Coffee in the area literally craved it because it’s so strong and delicious. I know they don’t play around with their quality espresso beans which are a unique blend of amazing Coffee Beans. They also have food and amazing pasteries.

This place is great! It's got really nice neighborhood coffeeshop vibes. The staff are always very kind and friendly and the coffee is delicious. My usual is an Americano but I recommend trying one of their mochas. The food is also really good, especially the avocado toast!

Gladys and her team always take care of me, whether it’s a specialty coffee, tea, or larger orders for meetings. Her knowledge is impressive and her commitment to quality shows in the details. It’s a small shop but is always full of interesting people and good tunes :). Great gem in our neighborhood and supporting a local woman busting her booty makes me happy. Try it!

5/5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I just had to rave about KAKAWA coffee shop! The coffee is truly exceptional, and the service is top-notch. We recently ordered coffee for a small gathering of 15 people, and everything was perfect. The team was friendly, efficient, and clearly passionate about what they do. But it's not just about the great coffee - this shop is a true asset to our community. They're doing something special, and we appreciate it. If you're looking for a reliable, high-quality coffee spot, look no further! Highly recommend! Thank you Gladys!

This is the best coffee I've ever had. Had the Kakawa latte and my husband had the Arabian Mocha. The quality was amazing. I tasted the coconut notes and the arabic coffee. It was so good that we wanted to circle back and grab more. Super friendly staff that made us feel at home. Very good location. Amazing place. Will definitely be back!!

Aesthetic small coffee shop with a few seating available. I felt rushed at the order counter from the lady. After our orders though she asked how we liked our drinks. The drinks were a little dark for me. I wanted to venture out and try new things. This place is worth a visit. Beef empanada: 3/5 (little dry) Kakawa iced latte w/ oatmilk: 4/5 Mexican mocha iced w/ oatmilk 4/5

The service was good and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi wasn’t working and there was no restroom available, which made things a bit uncomfortable. I ordered the Mayan Mocha — I usually enjoy this drink elsewhere, but here the spiciness really overpowered the chocolate and coffee flavors. It was a bit too intense for me. Overall, it’s an okay spot, but there’s definitely room for improvement.

The Americano was good and avocado toast was good (ask for ciabatta roll to be toasted golden mine was just warm bread). I came here for the avo toast and coffee because I heard it was so good. However, this will not be a destination coffee shop for me because no bathroom, nowhere to wash your hands, & only paper cups, Definitely a grab and go vibe. Also, kind of pricey. I spent $5.50 on an americano and then once I finished it, I asked if I could have just another half cup of house coffee and I got charged another $3.75 for coffee. I was told it's because it's organic coffee. Actually, if she had just filled my cup half way and let me know that next time I'd have to be charged for it that may have been customer service and that may have brought me back here, but I'm out. With gratuity, charge for 2 coffees ($10), and Avo toast, I spent $30 bucks. That seems a bit excessive for a coffee stop.

A cute little coffee shop but the amount they charge for food and drinks even in San Diego is crazy! For two 16oz coffees and two avocado toast the total came to $57! Not only that but we had finished our coffee and after 20+ minutes we asked about our toast… turns out they forgot to make it. (Understand if they were busy but it was fairly empty) After asking about it we had to wait another 20+ before it was ready. I think the toast was good but for almost $60 and having to wait so long for a very small serving I don’t think I’ll be back.

Getting a coffee here is painful every time. $8.50(!!!) for a coffee with half & half + honey is OUTRAGEOUS! They do have amazing coffee, but every time I leave I feel like I’m getting ripped off. I get the same order everywhere else I go, and the average for my order is about $5. I drink coffee every day and would come here wayyy more often if their prices were fair. It’s disrespectful and a turn off to the community for gouging them with prices like that. They have a great product and would probably have much more business if their prices were reasonable.
