I went to Nola for the first time today for happy hour. I got the wings on special which were delicious and a few beers. $5 beers! What a deal and they had a great selection of local breweries. They have a dog friendly patio and even offered my bulldog some bacon which he greatly appreciated. The server and manager were so kind when I spilled my drink. The service was excellent and the music was right up my alley. I can’t wait to visit again!

I had heard about NoLa on 5th a while ago and finally decided to check it out and I’m so glad I did. From the moment we arrived, the experience was top notch. We were greeted immediately with a warm welcome, and the service throughout our visit was absolutely amazing friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The outdoor look of the place was beautiful stylish, clean, and gave off a relaxed New Orleans vibe that set the mood before we even sat down. It wasn’t super busy when we arrived, which had me wondering at first… but once the food came out, that doubt disappeared quick. I ordered the catfish gumbo, and it was packed with bold, rich flavor. The catfish was tender, well-seasoned, and the gumbo itself was comforting and full of depth. My partner got the Cajun catfish pasta, and that dish was out of this world creamy, spicy, and satisfying with perfectly cooked pasta and crispy catfish. We ended up sharing both dishes because they were just that good. The beers were ice cold and hit the spot served at the perfect temperature. Everything tasted fresh, and the portions were generous without being over the top. This place is a hidden gem that deserves way more attention. Great food, great service, chill vibe, and a beautiful space. I’ll definitely be back. NoLa on 5th, y’all are doing it right!

After a day of travel and work, I wanted a tasty simply meal and their sliders on Hawaiian rolls spoke to me. And what they said did not disappoint. The food was good and the service was great. It was my first time visiting and I really enjoyed the atmosphere as I dined alone. The bartender gave top notch customer service and deserves kodus of his own. Go check this place out.

We had such an excellent lunch here today, and couldn't recommend it more. The food was delicious and the service was great. Greg was the best and really elevated the already great time we had. So good! We got the etouffee and the Cajun pasta, they were super flavorful and had a nice kick of spice! Defo hit the spot. If you love spicy comfort food, this place is a win!

Some items were very good. They definitely had flavor. I had the the Nola burger with Truffle. fries. The next time I did brunch and the bottomless mamosas. chicken and waffles. With the bacon baked into the waffles was nice and crafty. A big hit however however the The shrimp and grits was a big miss for me.

This was a great time! Service was epic and everyone was so personable. Greg is such a cool guy. Loved the food and drink, but the atmosphere and friendliness really put it over the top. If you go, you have got to try the crawfish and andouille egg rolls! We went back one last time before moving cross country. Oysters, egg rolls, shrimp etouffe and Po’boy were epic. We will miss the food and Greg!

Food Phenomenal. Service was Amazing. Our Server was "C" She was Super Nice and made us feel at home. Great Place. Will definitely go again. True Southern Food. Locals/regulars at the counter singing along with music, I had to join in.

Great find! Food was delicious, and service was great. At first glance walking in, I thought I should leave as I was with 3 kids lol (total bar atmosphere) but as I was led to the back seating for dine-in my worries were put at ease. We all had a great time and felt very welcomed ☺️

My boyfriend and I visited the restaurant for the first time this past week for our birthdays. What an amazing experience! Even on a Monday early afternoon. Not only was the food amazingly full of flavor, the owners made us feel as if we were regulars. So very hospitable and welcoming. Hands down the friendliest service I have ever received while out to eat! Can’t wait to visit again!

I've been here twice, once for bottomless brunch and again for a date night. Both times were excellent! I've tried the chicken and waffles and the peacemaker po' boy and oh boy do they not disappoint! Also got to try the fig burger and you really can't go wrong! The breading on the fried items is well seasoned and the sides like the rosemary potatoes and sweet potato fries hold up as well! They also have excellent service, special shout out to Oliver for giving us some history of the location and showing us the top floor where they have another bar and do events! Also shout out to bartender Citlali for being an amazing host, they really make you feel like you're at home here at NOLA. I will be coming back again. (did I mention they have a great selection of beer too!)

This place has become my new favorite restaurant in San Diego. The food and service were amazing! We sat upstairs by the window and had an amazing view of the street or you can seat outside on the patio. Everything we ate and drank was delicious from the trio, to the peacemaker and the G Bahama. The big stick shot was simply nostalgic and delicious. We will definitely be back!!!!! Ask for Greg his hospitality was nothing less than southern comfort. If you like good food and great customer service then you will love this place!!!!!!

The food is A-1 and the people working there are amazing! Is you like a taste of southern food this is a good choice!

Nice place to have a drink in the Hill Crest area of San Diego. I had a few drinks the only thing that would have made it better is if they get some malort in other than that super happy with what I had 10/10

Originally came for the bottomless mimosas but ended up ordering some brunch too, did not disappoint! We got the chilaquiles, egg rolls, gumbo and white chocolate bread pudding French toast! So so good!! Our waiter was super helpful and friendly as well made a great overall experience.

Really great place! First time here and it was nice. Saw it while walking and wanted to try it out. Nice beer list. Great Cajon food. Nice patio space. Nice staff. Wonderful First time.

San Diego's hidden "sports bar" gem. This place goes crazy for New Orleans Saints on NFL Sundays upstairs, but it's a great place to catch any game. Chef Ruben will create something delicious for any appetite.

We have been walking by for a long time and saw their taco Tuesday menu and decided to give it a try. Glad we did, service was fabulous, thank you Maren, food was fabulous and served hot. We will come back often.

The catfish is unreal! The atmosphere is much more of a bar feel, but it doesn’t take away from the experience. I’ll be back for the catfish for sure!

Great food and atmosphere! I have always had a good time at Nola on 5th. They are so accommodating and I hold my business networking upstairs once a week and it is always so easy. Anytime they have a crawfish boil it is a must!

Super friendly bar. Great food. 1st time here and definitely coming back when I'm town. How good was it? Well I bought one of their hats on the way out the door. Finished work the white chocolate raspberry bread pudding!

Great service even though they've been understaffed - their attitude and service has been amazing. Order the chicken and waffles and OMG. They got it got down. Highly recommend splitting the dish as you'll want to try other items. Don't forget the biscuits!

My girlfriend and I came in for lunch on a Monday and there was only one other person there making seating and service easy and fast. We sat outside on the patio which was nice because the weather was great. Drink options were pretty standard but I did not try any cocktails. The food was really good, especially the black and gold po boy. The etouffee and gumbo are delicious but the jambalaya was lacking in flavor. Overall a great dining option and will come again to try the other po boys on the menu.

The food here was outstanding. We shared the Guy Fieri special, which was a beef and shrimp po'boy with fries and jambalaya. The sandwich and jambalaya were so good they rivaled the food in the real New Orleans! The white chocolate bread pudding was also delicious. A generous serving which was dense and moist throughout. The bartender was the only one serving, but he did a fine job. Definitely recommend!

How did I not know about this place???? The food WAS PERFECT! And the sweet potato fries was amazing! And the tomato sauce! Yummy! Yummy! Yummy! Definitely going back.

This is some of the best food I have ever tasted. It was so well seasoned. The portions were so huge. The atmosphere was wonderful. The service was excellent. We got seated right away, and the food came out quickly. I can't wait to get back.

Early Birthday Brunch with Bottomless Mimosas $22. It's always a fun time when me and my friends go. Definitely preparing for October 1st. Loved being able to see the college games today plus. Everyone was amazing from start to finish. It was a lot of us and everything was 🔥... Thanks 2 my vets . Definitely would recommend having a party or get together.

This is a great spot to grab lunch, snacks and drinks. I can see that it is popular with the locals as it is conveniently located near Balboa Park. The Triple D special was quite good and so was the catfish platter. Our server was great too. If you are in the SD area and like Cajun food give it a try.

Loved it here. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. We got service right away, the food is amazing. Shout out to our bartender Arlette she had the best vibe and gave us a good time.

Came on a Tues for dinner. It was slow which was nice. We got some of the cocktails, all of them pretty good! We got the Mac n cheese as an appetizer (not pictured) then we got two of the flatbreads and a jambalaya. Overall good experience and gold tasting food.

My first time there (yesterday)and only ONE person was working and she did An amazing job taken care of EVERYONE!! Place was pretty busy.. I wanted to try out the place because I seen it on guys DDD. It was pretty good would definitely come back again.

This place was wonderful! They had the sound on for the Aztec game. They had a good selection of beers on tap. I sat at the bar and had the catfish po'boy, which was delicious! The catfish breading had the perfect amount of seasoning. When it came out, I wished I had remembered to order it blackened, but one bite, and I knew I had hit the catfish jackpot! The red beans and rice are the best I've had in San Diego. They have great flavor as well! Can't wait to bring my other half with me next time!

Fun & chill vibes of indoor/outdoor settings!! A perfect selection of food & drinks. If you're into trying a burger outside the box...you MUST try their "Fig Burger"...it consists of Grass-fed beef burger, topped with feta, caramelized onions, organic mixed greens, house-made roasted garlic aioli, and from scratch tomato fig jam..AND their "Argentina Burger". The best burger EVER!!!!

This place is delicious! The food is just like New Orleans, and the setting is authentic and comfortable, lotta southern hospitality!!! A fairly nice experience with a few twists here and there to give each item its own unique flair. My friend ordered the burger and it was cooked perfectly and was super juicy. The étouffée tasted nice on its own but took some liberties on some additional spices which I’m not familiar with having had it multiple times in Louisiana. The egg rolls were really great, being freshly made and with a ton of seasonings. Also, Abita on draft is a slam dunk in my book.

What an amazing place in San Diego! It’s totally authentic New Orleans style food. The owner flies in leidenheimer bread and gulf shrimp 3 times a week! This is place to be for all the Saints and LSU football game.

NOLA on 5th was amazing!! The Po'Boy sandwiches were so delicious!! The vibe and ambiance was great! Definitely coming back again!

Mardi Gras Spirit has dropped a wonderful taste of New Orleans right on fifth Avenue in San Diego. Service was excellent even with our bartender taking care of the whole place ( understandable during current times) . She Knew the beers and had great suggestions. Lunch was a full meal and a great price during this time of inflation. It pains me that I could not ask for a “to go” cup and wander down Bourbon Street but in true hillcrest fashion there’s always something going . Wish the Tin room could’ve made it in this spot , but glad that a tasty option has filled the vacancy. And they have been here for a while but I finally made it. 👍🏼

Food is a 10/10 amazing! Honestly better than Louisiana Purchase. But you should still try both. The have bottomless mimosa for only $20. Food price range from $8-$26 having fries as there cheapest and a New Orleans trio being the most expensive from their brunch menu. I highly recommend you this place a shot you won’t regret it! I had the shrimp po’boy and French toast with bacon and a ginger beer which came out to $40 not including tax and tip.

Delicious food. The shrimp etouffee and the wings are my favorite. Good size portions. Service was great! Parking is difficult to find on the street free on Sundays.

Did the trio and the flavors hit the spot. The gumbo had a sid spice to it. Reminds me of being back in N'Orlans. Hurricane was so, so though. Needed more flavor and was bland. Service was tremendous. Our bartender/waiter was on point. Quick with the drinks, always checked in on us and did a great job despite having a full bar. Its a fun neighborhood type place. Worth the stop and worth coming back to.

For seafood lovers the Shrimp Etoufee with Fried Catfish is the perfect choice. Fresh. The bar has a great selection of local IPAs and beers. Happy Hour helps (3 to 6pm). Will definitely return for their many other New Orleans Menu items.

Yeah I hate going to places that call themselves new orleans louisiana but they are in another place. 😒 But, Not here I had a great time if you can purchase some of the hot sauce that they make it is absolutely f****** delicious. The staff was great very cool bartender the atmosphere was cool and the food "hell yeah"

The food is delicious! A little taste of New Orleans in San diego. The jambalaya was way too wet, but the catfish was crispy and flavorful. The drinks were super tasty. I suggest the G Bahama. If you're there for happy hour, the wings are a major go to ! I couldn't stop eating them plus the mango habanero to go with it is delicious.

Cracking little place. Was quiet, service was fast, barmaid very pleasant. A few dishes weren’t available unfortunately. Had catfish and a poboy sandwich, both excellent. Good prices. For what it is, very very good.

This was a cool little neighborhood spot! I sat at the bar since it was just me. I got to chat with the bartender, and 2 others that were either owners or managers. Angie I believe her name was, she was super cool. That's what I love about places like this, they don't care if you're a local or not, they just treat you like one. THAT is what makes me go back. I got the trio sampler which included: gumbo, etouffee and jambalaya. They were out of the red beans and rice. The jambalaya was spicy, just beware. The gumbo could have used a better roux and the etouffee was okay. I was asked how the food was and I was honest in saying the dishes were very heavy on the rice and not so much on the other ingredients. I left a lot of food because of that, I ate all the good stuff though. I was told a new chef was starting next week, I hope they make changes to the the rice ratio. If I get to SD again, I'll go back and try the po-boy!

Nice spot for drinks and dinner. Wings and burgers are good, and there are many Louisiana inspired choices on the menu, of course. We had a fun time as a group of five on the outdoor patio with good service from Mitch the friendly server. The overall condition of the restaurant needs some refurbishing, but it's a decent choice for a casual night out.

The flat bread pizza is delicious. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. Good customer service. The tables look clean. Try the meatballs. The bread they serve with the meatballs not good, everything else was delicious. Prices reasonable for the area. Wait time was regular, great atmosphere.

One of the best beer menus in hillcrest! Food options are plentiful and I always want to try a new item. Located in an older building which adds to the charm.

The food was great in this local New Orleans Saints bar. I had fried catfish that was super crispy and came with a nice tangy sauce. We sat in the back room with the dust bunnies and spiders. The dinning area could use a good cleaning.

The Shrimp and Andouille Gumbo tasted as if it was made from a frozen tv dinner meal (not tasty), the shrimp were a little darker than I like but they were the best part of the gumbo meal, the Bleu Cheese Burger was good, and the chicken wings were also good. Not a bad spot just don't get the gumbo.

Delicious étouffée but lacking some sustenance. Fried catfish was really good. Great drink selection. Not a fine dining restaurant at all but pretty much a gastropub.

We watched Guy Fieri‘s DDD, and they featured this restaurant. My husband has been expecting this place for a while and tonight we finally came to check it out. The good thing is their Po’ Boy is kinda delicious, I really liked it but my husband thought it’s lack of flavor. The sweet potato fries are very yummy. But the Jambalaya was not good, it’s too plain, both of us didn’t like it. The service was a little bit slow.

I went to this place case I saw their catfish on the menu, and I was told they make a good sazerac. Unfortunately the catfish was a huge disappointment, they used a batter similar to something you’d put on cod, and they seasoned it up. The consistency of their drinks were also different. I would say the young man that made it was better than the girls. Maybe they’re known for a different food and the catfish aint.

It’s was alright. I ordered the special they had that Guy Fieri had and it was good. The fries were bomb, the sandwich itself was alright, but I was really let down with the jambalaya. The service was good and the place was smaller than anticipated, but it was pleasant for dinner. I don’t think the price reflects on the quality of food and location. For two people we had spent 90$ including the tip. If you want a spot to sit down and share a drink it wouldn’t be a bad spot to start the night off.

The place was pretty slow at the time of my visit. The server/bartender was pretty slow in bringing refills or asking if everything was going well. The service lacked what the food didn't. The food was delicious.

Mixed feelings on this place. We tried the red beans & rice, gumbo, and jambalaya. Overall, despite decent service and ambiance, the meal was quite expensive for the quality of food. I will say the wings were excellent - especially the dry rub they use. We got them with the house hot sauce which was a bit too vinegary for our preference, but the ranch they came with was good. The bread that came with the stews was incredible and for the most part the stews were tasty, but the rice in both the gumbo and red beans was super dried out and crunchy. The jambalaya had a nice flavor and kick to it, but the rice was so overcooked and mushy. I didn’t care for the gumbo - it lacked flavor and had a kind of anemic color, like maybe the roux wasn’t cooked enough? We’d come back for the wings (and bread) but that’s about it.

In the picture is a Louisiana hot chicken and it was just okay middle of the road what I should have got and they gave me a small sampling of it was the shrimp and grits on that little small bowl the spice was popping the food was delicious it was savory it was everything you wanted and that's what I should have had.

This is not a bad place but I will admit I expected more. I spent a lot of time in New Orleans, and the food was lacking. Of course, I am comparing it to actual food from NOLA, so my assessment is biased. The service was good. They sat us early but our food cane out staggared and some was not very warm. Now for the positives! Nice beer selection and the atmosphere is great. Bar service was awesome, and the staff was ready to answer questions. Do not set your expectations too high and its great. If I visit again, it will be for the bar.

I ordered the black and gold, poor boy and it was good but dry. I asked the staff for a side of gravy to put on and they looked at me like I was crazy. They said we have no gravy. But now I’m watching an episode of triple D and I see that there is gravy put on it. Like I said, the sandwich was good but dry if it would’ve had the gravy it would’ve been amazing. Not sure if it’s worth it to go back (I really want that poboy the correct way) service was nonexistent because we didn’t sit at the bar. I am an LSU alumni and huge fan of Domilise's wet shrimp poboy in the ninth Ward and I have a feeling if this poboy was made correctly It would’ve given all of New Orleans a run for the money.

Gumbo much too thick. If using okra use a cup of flour. Also tasted raw seasoning and a bit too muchnpepper. Other than that tasty. Thanks for the sample. Jambalaya only a bit spicy,but itoo was delicious!! Thank you

I ordered the black and gold, poor boy and it was good but dry. I asked the staff for a side of gravy to put on and they looked at me like I was crazy. They said we have no gravy. But now I’m watching an episode of triple D and I see that there is gravy put on it. Like I said, the sandwich was good but dry if it would’ve had the gravy it would’ve been amazing. Not sure if it’s worth it to go back (I really want that poboy the correct way) service was nonexistent because we didn’t sit at the bar. I am an LSU alumni and huge fan of Domilise's wet shrimp poboy in the ninth Ward and I have a feeling if this poboy was made correctly It would’ve given all of New Orleans a run for the money.

Drinks were amazing. New or replacement chef is strongly recommended. I prefer to post incredible experiences, but the food here is lacking in many areas. Jambalaya was a fail. The rice was crunchy and undercooked. The gumbo is a definite no GO. It was bland and lacked creole seasoning. It looked good but was tasteless. The shrimp etouffe was good, as well as the fried chicken wings. This restaurant came highly recommended, and I assume it was for the fried food. This is far from NOLA style cuisine. Location and bar tender Isabella is worth the sub average food

I hate to rate this restaurant so low as the food was incredible but the service was some of the worst I have ever had. My friends and I had lunch on 10/27. When we entered the restaurant, no one greeted us. We had to ask at the bar whether to grab a table or wait to be seated. We were directed to grab a table by someone seated at the bar and they would be right with us. I'm assuming he worked there but maybe not as I never saw him move from his seat. We seated ourselves on the patio. It took almost 15 minutes before anyone came to the table. A young woman dropped off menus and walked away. No inquiry of whether we wanted to order drinks. She came back about 10 minutes later with a pitcher of water, filled glasses for each of us and walked away. We tried to let her know we were ready to order but she ignored us. She returned again when another table sat down near us. We again indicated we were ready to order. She nodded her head our way but instead went to the other table. When I saw this person had zero personality or pep in her step, it's no exaggeration. We finally ordered and our food came very quickly. It was absolutely delicious. The server never refilled our waters or asked if we wanted any other drinks. The food is appropriately spicy for Cajun food and we certainly needed additional drinks. She never returned to clear our empty dishes. I had to go find her server to request the check. I found her hanging out behind the bar. We waited more than 10 minutes for her to return to process the check. My friend again had to go look for her and found her hanging out behind the bar doing absolutely nothing. Sadly, even though the food is great we will never return or recommend this place.

I used to love this place. I went on Wednesday at lunchtime. What a disappointment! Starting with off-duty employees hanging out and loudly having drunk fun (yelling and running around as if they were at home), less-than-stellar service, an incorrect item delivered to the table, and food that had seriously deteriorated since my last visit around the holidays. The appetizer and main course were delivered within a couple minutes, and the appetizer was not hot. Shrimp Etouffée that did not taste as I remembered it from last time (too wet and too spicy), and a really crap Shrimp Po'Boy with tiny shrimp and not a lot of them. Even the fries weren't good. The sad part was last time I went out with the same friend, we went to Bud's. I told her NOLA was better, and we both ended up agreeing that it wasn't. Bummer! I won't be going back.

The flavor was lackluster when entering with intentions of bursting New Orleans. No spice or Cajun, pretty much a doctored up alfredo sauce with tomato. I’m not sure why I received multiple mini catfish pieces instead of the advertised whole filet but the flavor of the fish was good.

Not a good experience - unfortunately it was empty on Sunday at 1pm. Bottom of my poboy was super soggy and you can tell the shrimp were frozen. It’s unfortunate the only waitress working and the kitchen were overwhelmed.

No idea how this place had auch a high review. Maybe location or dumb tourists. Dont come fore the food. Fries were soggy, "fried" fish was soggy, pastas were greasy. There were 3 other people when we showed up, and 4 when we left, took 2 hours from order to check, and we didnt hang out more than we had too.

We did carryout. 2 in our party had fried catfish and were very happy & enjoyed their dinner. The 3rd had the ridiculously overpriced red beans & rice with andouille. It came in a quart container which was 80% rice and rest dry undercooked red beans, with no sauce, scant if any vegetables and andouille. Thoroughly disappointed. And on a Monday, too.

We went to Nola for the first time. Arrived shortly after opening. No one to seen. Finally a gentleman walked by and told us to take a seat - gave us a menu. Said her worked there but not working that day .... The music was very loud and certainly not appropriate for that time of the day. We sat there for 15 minutes - no one to be seen. Other customers came in still no one to be seen. We waited for a few more minutes and left. We eat out everyday. Too many great places in the area to waste time on a place that ignores their paying customers. Left there went to the Mission and had a great lunch.

We went there a little after 12pm on Thursday, June 12, 2025. There were no people when we went, so we went in without waiting. However, the overall smell of the store was not refreshing. It smelled like urine or fish. The problem was that we ordered gumbo, and I'm not lying, it tasted exactly like campbell chunky. I ate it all because I was hungry, but it was really disappointing. And we ordered salted pretzel, but that wasn't so good either. The only thing that was okay was the burger and fries. Don't be fooled by the pictures in the review. The pictures turned out well.

I will NEVER return here again. I grew up in New Orleans and know authentic NOLA FOOD. First things first they charged me 19.51 dollars for half a bowl of gumbo and a tiny side of rice(rice was 3 dollars and gumbo was 15). I asked the bartender if it was home made and made from scratch and he said yes which I believe to be an absolute lie. I’m from New Orleans and I know what real gumbo taste like and this gumbo is literally a 15 dollar can of Campbell’s soup, I’d bet 100 dollars on it. Do not waste your time and order food from here.

Rough day at this restaurant. Apparently only 2 servers were there, huge parties, and an exceptionally slow kitchen all merged together to make our Sunday brunch sub-par, at best. Lots of items we were willing to try were either sold out (shrimp & grits, a particular draft beer), were being dropped from the menu (pretzel balls with beer cheese), or made particularly mediocre (beignets), so what we did end up ordering were ok (jambalaya, po'boy, andoullie sausage omelette). Perhaps if we had been regulars who just happened to catch them on an off day it wouldn't have been so disappointing? Not sure, but will give other restaurants a try before coming back

This was the absolute worst food experience that I have ever had. We tried the charbroiled oysters and the catfish plate. The oysters were shucked (which I have never had broiled that way) and floating in a souplike substance that had a strong, vinegar taste. I ended up sending them back. The catfish was fishy and the breading was wet and falling apart. The jambalaya rice was sticky and clumped together like oatmeal. I was highly disappointed with the food, presentation, and the venue as a whole. There were several flies flying about as we ate, some even landing on the food. I would strongly recommend a menu change and/or new chef.

I was REALLY hoping to enjoy the food here. Guy Fieri can't be wrong, right? Unfortunately, they need to add a server because the bartender was either WAY over her head to serve the dozen or so people that were here, or she was not competent. I arrived at 5:05 pm and ordered a tap beer. Shortly after that, I ordered 6 wings. They are $1/each during happy hour. Once finished my first beer, I sat for nearly 15 minutes before she asked if I wanted another. I figured wings take some time to cook, there were a few tables there as well, so I didn't ask about my wings. I figured they would get there soon. Shortly after that, a guy just down from me at the bar ordered wings. He got his wings in about 10 minutes or so. A couple that ordered food behind me got theirs. The guy that got his wings must be a regular, because he eventually moved his stuff to the other end of the bar when the bartender asked him to "come down and join the party". A couple of young girls came in, asked a guy to slide over so they could sit at the bar together. He slid over. They sat down and waited. About 7 minutes went by and they got up and left because they didn't get served or even acknowledged. After an hour and a half of service that was GARBAGE, I decided I was going to get an Uber and find somewhere else to eat. While I was waiting for my ride, the bartender came over and I told her I needed to cash out. She asked if everything was OK, I said, YES, except for the wings I didn't get. She offered to put them in for me. I declined. I would have ordered the PO Boy thing that they recommended after the wings...the thing Guy Fieri featured, which is why I came there. Very disappointed! I may try this place again if I am back in San Diego for a few extra days, but based on my experience, try it at your own risk.

Very disgusted. First time I felt DISCRIMINATED against in a restaurant in my life. We arrived and we were watching the game. Someone who didn’t even work there went to the bar to change the game we were watching and switched the channel to please a couple that walked in after us. When we arrived it took them 20 minutes to even recognize us. They got service right away. As a Marine Veteran I am disgusted. We are not in the 60s anymore! Guess I need to find a new place to try out Cajun food.

This place is freaking dirty! And yes, there are roaches here. Food lacks flavor the owner is rude and you'd be better off eating at any other establishment around the area who'd appreciate your business, Nola on 5th is not it!

My statement of "not a lot of options" is extremely kind, because you actually only have two salads that cost $14 for vegetarians. Technically, I wrote the initial review before even ordering. Second: When I looked at the menu to see if I wanted to join my group to eat there I saw the Mac and Cheese which I thought cost $10-15 (My mistake was it was an old photo of the menu when the Mac and Cheese was the third cheapest option) which I was content with because I wanted to enjoy the company of the other people I was with. But when we arrived and saw on the current lunch menu there are notes for what options can or are vegetarian, there are the two salads at $14 and that is it. Yes I saw the Mac and Cheese. No it doesn't have a note it can be made vegetarian, so why would I ask. Regardless if it could have been made vegetarian I was blindsided that it was the second highest cost item regular item on the lunch menu? Also how many meat focused establishments go out of there way to make a meal specially vegetarian that isn't already or isn't stated so on the menu? I'm in no way asking or suggestion that you should have more vegetarian options, it's not your brand and what you offer. I'm not going to go into BBQ joint and complain about the smell of meat. Third: Your commenting on "hating" a poor small business owner, first I am a small business owner and have had a brick and mortar so I am not ignorant to how little effort it takes to offer quality service. Assuming whoever replied to my review is the owner, no body forced you into having a restaurant in one of the most competitive, most expensive neighborhoods in the region, state if not possibly in the country. So why whine about being a small business? I made a choice to eat at NOLA knowing I wasn't going to enjoy it, but was surprised at the options and quality. My review was not about the business but to inform future patrons. I left out of my review how simple and cheap the salads are for vegetarians, how ridiculously cheap the silverware is and the plastic glasses. Instead of replying to my review from the weak position of being a small business trying to succeed etc, you had the opportunity to support and strengthen your brand and say... "Sorry about your experience, NOLA serves mostly meals with animal products and our menu is clearly and publicly displayed. We aren't for everyone but offer an authentic NOLA experience. The Mac and Cheese is one of our favorite menu items because of the unique care we put into it. Our prices reflect the quality and service our customers expect and are willing to pay."

I saw it before I drank it, and the server was embarrassed. She made up for it and we tipped her well. I feel that was a warning shot, but certainly we were willing to give it another go. This time though. Sunday afternoon, there is a game playing and it was a bit loud inside. So took my 81 year old mother down the stairs to the outside patio. After we were seated, the bartender/server Anthony came down and said "we aren't serving the lunch menu here." No "sorry but....", I commented there were no signs not to come down and it was loud inside. He literally said "well you didn't ask me to turn it down." As we walked back up the stairs he continued and said he didn't want to have to deal with us today. Hoping it was a different server, we sat inside in the back. He came to the table and said "let's try this again and you better be nice or I'm not serving you." I bit my tongue. But he couldn't be bothered to ask if we wanted anything else, or to take my credit card he had the busser do it. I am shocked. Being apologetic for the inconvenience would have made it all better. Yet we were met with rudeness. So no, I guess we won't give you a third chance. What a shame..
