Sweet, cozy, and delicious Ethiopian food. Felt like going home to your mama's house - made with love, fresh, comfort food with great flavor. We got the lamb dish, and the veggie combo. If you like lamb, it was great to pair it with the veggie combo because the juice soaked into the injera bread and was SO good to eat with everything else. The veggies were all great too. Would recommend to anyone looking for a comforting bite and new experience for food. Also the fact that it's family owned since 1985 also was really comforting. Looking forward to going back and for their coffee ceremony Saturdays ❤️
Food was great. Service was excellent. Ginger tea was amazing. I really enjoyed the me combo. I usually eat the vegan combo meal, but this time I decided to try the meat combo. It did not disappoint. Very nice environment to have a nice conversation with my friend. Music was not too loud.
Excellent food. We had ethiopian wine and beer that actually paired very well with each other. I had a veggie plate while my partner had the lamb.
I have taken my friends here twice. Would be way more if I lived closer! The food is delicious!! The portions are large and the service is fast. The owner is very kind and funny. I love coming here. Please give it a try!
They have redone the dining room beautifully. The service is, as always, amazing they make you feel like a member of the family. The food is incredible, it's so delicious and they even have gluten-free and injerra if you let them know that you need it. We will always be back. It's a family tradition and such a fun place to take food adventurers.
Husband and I loved the food here!! Staff is nice. Food is delicious. Restaurant is cozy. Would def dine here again 10/10 !
Had a spectacular dinner here. We got the veggie platter and Awaze tips. highly recommend. 10/10.
Stopped by here for lunch and enjoyed every bite! This place will be my new go to ethiopian place in San Diego due to the freshness of the meat/veggies and wonderful service. Great atmosphere and kind owners. Meat combo portion was perfect for one person. Would recommend getting both veggie and meat platter for a larger group of 2 or more.
So scrumptious and delicious. Pleasing and comfortable atmosphere, we always have a delightful time coming here
This hidden gem is DIVINE for Ethiopian food. Portions are perfect and the LAMB is phenomenal. Highly recommend if you like this food. The owners are sooooo lovely but be sure the food is cooked fresh so it could take like 30 mins so sit back and relax.
If your wanting the cleanest tasting injera in San Diego that isnt loaded in canola oil then keep reading… this place is clean. Ample seating. Staff is attentive yet they let you eat in peace. Food is soooo tasty. 4th time here. The portion size is great. Roughly $17 for the veggie platter. Flavors are sooo rich. Bathroom is clean and parking is out back or on the street. Did I mention, the feeling of eating with your hands and licking the seasoning off your fingers taste sooo good (given that you have washed your hands👀). Overall, love this place hence why I keep finding my car in the parking lot.
Overall, good restaurant. The decore was nice and welcoming. The servers were very pleasant. We had a meat and a vegetable combo platters. Both were good. It may not have been the absolute best Ethiopian food, but the atmosphere makes up for any of those shortcomings.
Really enjoyed our meal. We got the meat combo, the veggie combo, and a chicken stew. A few Ethiopian beers to round out the meal and it was fantastic. The stew and lentils were a favourite of mine so well spiced and flavorful. Will be sure to go back.

This place is a gem. Had the most delicious food in a lovely environment/atmosphere. Service was top notch and everyone was so friendly. Most importantly- Addis was the best Ethiopian food I've had in San Diego, wow!

This is a restaurant run by an Ethiopian from Africa, which has been in business for many years. The shop has a very unique style, full of local cultural characteristics. The owner is very enthusiastic and will guide you on how to order. Traditionally, Ethiopian meals are served on a large injera—a type of flatbread—topped with various stews, meats, and vegetables. You eat by tearing off pieces of the injera and using them to scoop up the dishes, which is a distinctive experience. If you’ve never tried Ethiopian food before, it’s worth a visit. However, the injera has a sour taste overall, and neither my friend nor I were quite accustomed to it—but it was all part of the experience.
I came to Addis Ethiopian Restaurant recently and had a pretty good experience overall, though it wasn’t the greatest Ethiopian food I’ve ever had. The seating is mostly normal tables and chairs, though there is a couch and some traditional seating areas against one wall. The service is good, and they try to take care of you and ensure you’re enjoying your experience. I ordered Doro Wot (stewed chicken), Yebeg Wat (stewed lamb), Gomen (collard greens), and Fosolla with carrot (carrot and string beans). While the spices and flavors were on point for everything, the chicken and lamb were a little overcooked, making the meat a bit tough. The Fosolla was really good, and the Gomen was cooked perfectly (even though it slightly lacked flavor). For drinks we had green tea and herbal tea, both of which were Ethiopian brands. They also serve Ethiopian beer here, and have traditional coffee ceremonies you can RSVP for. Overall, it’s super authentic, I only wish the meat and collard greens were prepared a bit better.

Me and my wife was really looking forward to trying this Ethiopian restaurant, but unfortunately my experience wasn’t great. The food took quite a long time to arrive, and a few items we ordered were missing in the Kitfo.. The service felt a bit disorganized and inattentive. The flavors were not bad, but the overall experience didn’t meet expectations. I hope they can improve the service, because the potential is there…
