Avis sur Tom Ham's Lighthouse San Diego
It all began with a walk along Shelter Island. Tom foresaw a booming future for San Diego and envisioned a restaurant fit to savor the view for years to come. Tom Ham's Lighthouse Sunday Brunch costs around $78-$90 per adult, with children 5-11 paying about $30, featuring seafood like lobster claws, crab legs, oysters, plus other stations, though drinks like champagne cost extra now, and it's highly recommended to book reservations due to high demand.
A terrific place to take your friends from out of town. The view was incredible, the food was delicious, and the beer list extensive. My husband and I often wonder, when we leave, why we just don't make the half an hour drive to go and have such a great experience. I had the lobster bisque soup and my husband had the short ribs. Both were excellent.
Great views for sure. Food were mostly good. But the scallops were a bit too burnt. But we enjoy the overall experience
Tom Ham’s Lighthouse is an upscale, very nice seafood restaurant very close to the San Diego Airport. In fact, it’s walking distance to the Sheraton. It succeeds at providing an upscale experience without crossing into pretentious nonsense. You can come here and have absolutely world class seafood without needing a tie (unless that’s your gig). Drinks were strong and fairly priced (10-17 dollars based on the drink). Kids meal provided ample portions for children - perhaps a bit more than they actually need. Two small kids can split a meal and still have left overs. We ordered a dozen of oysters (chefs dozen) which were prepared immaculately. The Boulabaise was phenomenal and had a creamy, tangy broth cooked to perfection with a millet of lobster, oysters, clams, and other assorted shellfish. They Scallops were also cooked to perfection. In many ways, Scallops is a test of seafood cooking ability as the prime texture window is quite small. Fortunately, I’m happy to report that they were all perfect with an excellent portion. Please consider this restaurant for date night, family night, or a non-chain seafood experience on the harbor.
This place was really cool has a great view no matter where you are sitting. They have a lot of cool stuff on the walls also. The food here is really good I would definitely recommend the turkey avocado sandwich. The service here was very good. They have a good selection of wine here and not had a bad price.
If I could give this place a 10/5 I would ! The food was amazing ! The view is incredible !!! The service was the show stopper 🤩🤩🤩 Chris was our waiter and he was just amazing and really made our time here special. Honestly, could not recommend this place more. They have lots of seafood, but also not seafood options for those who don’t like. Our waiter recommended really great options for us ! What a wonderful and special day ❤️❤️
A Perfect Oyster Experience at Tom Ham’s Lighthouse I came here specifically for the oyster selection, and Tom Ham’s did not disappoint. The Little Saints, Sapphire, and Winter Sweet oysters on the half shell were absolutely fresh and beautifully presented on ice. Each varietal had its own character — the Little Saints were clean and briny with just the right salinity, the Sapphires had a slightly creamy, mineral finish that lingered in the best way, and the Winter Sweets were exactly as their name suggests — sweet, delicate, and perfect for someone who wants a lighter oyster experience. Everything was shucked perfectly with no grit, and the natural oyster liquor was intact. The classic accompaniments — lemon wedges, mignonette, and cocktail sauce — were on point, but honestly, these oysters were so good they didn’t need much. The view of the bay made the whole experience even better.
I went there with some coworkers and some clients to enjoy a happy hour. We got some cocktails and some appetizers. The high barstools are very comfortable and you can see the great view from the large windows behind the bar. The bartenders were very friendly and helpful too. It’s really fun to enjoy a happy hour out on the patio when the weather is pleasant.
No words other than absolute wonderful place for brunch. What more could you ask for? Seafood brunch buffet in San Diego. Oyster, lobster, crab legs, scallops all you can eat! Omelette station, pasta station to boot! Food and service are excellent. Highly recommend reservation and be seated outside under the umbrella by the ocean and soak in the view of San Diego. I believe you can walk in and get a table of you are early Managed to secure a 930 reservation. At 920am Sunday, there was a huge line people already waiting. Some with reservation, some without. All in all, I highly recommend. Mention Eddy, our server who was attentive and patient with my hungry/hangry mom who needed her coffee ASAP lol
Note that Sunday brunch is mandatory at over $80 a person, otherwise you can only sit at the bar (not outside) and have a drink. I wanted a light lunch so a full brunch ticket was not in the cards. But I did return with a group for dinner and we had stunning views seated indoors next to the giant windows and everyone loved their food. Service was fantastic, definitely a fun experience and perfect for views! Note that it does feel dated inside with a bit of an “empty” dining room missing decor, or just too much floor space. Kind of felt like tables setup in a wedding venue place. Interior was lacking but the expansive views were wonderful.
We came for the Sunday seafood brunch and I highly recommend. We reserved an outside table so we had an amazing view of the water. There was plenty of everything and they kept it pretty fresh and stocked throughout our meal. Of course the seafood was great but there was a good mix of other items. Perfect brunch items. The food was great but the star of the show was the service! Eddie was our server and we was fantastic. He made the whole experience THAT much better. They definitely have a gem and I hope they know that! Thanks for taking such great care of us, Eddie!

Anniversary dinner for my wife and I after leaving Little Italy in the rain. waits were long and we were getting wet. We decided to try Tom Ham’s and weren’t disappointed.
3.5 stars for the food, but bumping it up because everyone knows you’re really here for the views. And also because the service was excellent! It was my dad’s birthday and our server Eddie was so kind in helping us coordinate the surprise dessert and generally being very observant when my parents’ drinks were empty, clarifying questions about the dishes, etc. Food - oysters were fine, had a lot of sediment inside. Scallops were good, linguine was a bit forgettable and watery, yellowtail fish of the day was fine. The chocolate brownie dessert was great. Views are amazing! Beautiful nighttime shots of the lake and city. Prices were very reasonable coming from NYC.
Came in for restaurant week. First time dining in the outdoor area and it was packed but not so loud that you couldn’t have a conversation, which was nice. The salad I got wasn’t particularly memorable though the shrimp in it was delicious. The ceviche on the other hand was perfect- my favorite bite of the whole meal. Only other issue was the oysters were tiny! They were much smaller than expected. But overall enjoyed the lunch experience. The views of the bay from this restaurant alone are worth eating here!
We went for Sunday brunch and it was overall a good experience, I wouldn't say exceptional, but good. Staff would walk past our table empty handed without taking dirty plates (very obviously stacked) because we were running out of table space- we were having to wave staff over while they wondered around. Server was attentive. Food selection is decent, but I'd expect more given the price of the buffet, although it is seafood driven, other protein is lacking. Pasta bar is a nice touch and so is dessert. Also I felt drink selection was lacking. The have their own parking lot, elevator and stairs as restaurant is located on the second floor, and bathrooms available. I wouldn't say this is wheelchair friendly as most of the tables and warmers are higher up. Not a lot of vegetarian options (as most people are coming here for the seafood). Didn't see a lot of kids, but did see a sign for children under a certain age are free. Mostly an adult atmosphere.
I visited Tom Ham’s Lighthouse and overall had a really nice experience. The location is beautiful, the views of the water and skyline are truly the highlight and make it worth the visit. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the service throughout the meal was very good. What felt a bit strange, though, was the main dining area. It’s set up more like a large hall or event space rather than a cozy restaurant. Because of that, it didn’t really have the warm dining atmosphere I was expecting. It felt a bit open and impersonal, even though everything was clean and well-kept. That said, the place itself is unique, the setting is lovely, and the environment outside the dining hall is very nice. With such a great view and good service, it’s still a spot worth trying, especially if you’re there for the scenery and experience as much as the food and ambiance.
A very cool restaurant that was a lighthouse. Great for groups and has beautiful views overlooking then city. Food is pretty good and the history is pretty cool. There is plenty of parking too so shouldn’t be an issue. I got the Bouillabaisse and it was very flavorful with a good assortment of seafood. The Cauliflower was also pretty good and was nice to share as well. Service was friendly and attentive too.
The place was great, it was an old light house. The view outside was breathtaking, you can see the buildings and Coronado bridge perfect view in fine dining. The food was delicious I got the lobster bisque with bread and their perfect butter herb love it. Beer braised short ribs with mash potato and grilled asparagus. For the dessert I got the vanilla fruit creme brulee.. Love the ambiance and wonderful service. Price was reasonable since its Restaurant Week. My friends and I had a great time.
Great location and views. To be honest, food could have sucked and would have still enjoyed the views. Thankfully, food and service were both top notch. Lobster bisque really stood out for me. The chefs choice oysters and whole fish of the day, which happened to be salmon on this occasion, were definitely good choices as well. Only wish we had room to try some other dishes. I guess we will have to go back for more. Check in could use a little improvement and the outside heaters were a bit overwhelming for me, but I’m sure that’s a me issue. Such great history here and plenty of free parking too!
Tom Ham's Lighthouse offers a dining experience with a stunning ocean view and spacious seating that enhances the atmosphere. My girlfriend and I were a party of two, yet we were seated at a large, comfortable table, which was a pleasant surprise. The bar is beautifully designed, and the fresh pasta station available during Sunday brunch added a delightful touch. However, the setup for getting food could use some improvement, as the small room creates some traffic. Despite that, the food presentation was excellent, and the service was top-notch. Overall, it’s a great spot for a relaxing and enjoyable meal.
Easy parking, great views, wonderful service, good food (lobster bisque, fish and chips, crab Louie, and brownie à la mode). Fun place to bring out-of-town guests
Great brunch spot. The eggs were baked to perfection and the pastries had a home baked taste. The atmosphere is easy going and friendly

We had lunch at Tom Ham's Lighthouse, the view was absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and not crowded at all, which made for a really relaxing experience. The food was okay, just not particularly memorable compared to the amazing location.Glad we went once for the scenery, but I pro wouldn’t go back; however, it would be a fantastic spot for events or special occasions cuz the setting is truly great.
The view terrific and the service was good. The food, so, so. I had the special "restruant week" . Salmon was nothing special and cevichi very plain.
