Great place for hu tieu. I like how you can customize it by picking the type of noodles you want. I got the combination noodle with soup on the side. The bone is the soup was excellent. Their black sauce on the noodles was tasty, it was on saltier side vs sweeter but it’s fine. I will be coming back here for the hu tieu

Great food. Prices are regular. A lot of flavor. They have about 15 tables tables total so make sure to get there early or they may be busy. Quick service, too!

Amazing! Worth every dollar. First, I didn't even know here located a kind of historical Chinatown which the map won't tell you. This place is like an old style Cantonese(Chao Zhou flavor) restaurant. Even I am Chinese, I am not familiar with dishes from that area, and auntie patiently explained some dishes. We ordered No.44 BBQ pork ribs and rice, 22 fish congee and 10 beef or seafood Sha-cha noodle(forgot the names). The pork ribs is so crunchy and with special spices and a sense of sweetness. The wide noodle is spicy(Cantonese Sha-cha sauce) blended with some peanut butter. You can let her know what combination you want for the sauce. It can go very spicy by default. The fish rice congee we ordered surprised me. The portion is big and the fish fillet inside is pretty big(not sure how they can keep the price so low). We will definitely come back and also explore this area. Notice: as I mentioned, this area is like old eastern Asian gathering area. The security might not be good. I would suggest you go by groups during daytime.

Legit. We are from OC and very tasty like OG Trieu Chau in Santa Ana, which we have been going to for 30+ years. They got all the classics: Noodle soup, duck, Chinese donut, fresh soy milk, sate sauce, wonton noodles and today we tried popcorn chicken... Goes perfect with rice. Friendly and mom and pop owned.

The best asian food in san diego. Been eating here since I can remember as a kid. I was so small that my late mother will order one bowl for me and split it with my little brother. As a grown man and living miles away no longer in the area, I would still go eat there. Took my new family (wife mexican (speaks no English), and the kids (I'm Asian) there, she loves the food so much, that with the tradition of my mother, I make it a once a month vist/eat there. Afterwards we always order a take home order cause it's that good. Also of note, this is a family resturant that the family has been running for years, like I said as a kid (maybe 8-10 years old, and now early 40's).

If you’re from Southeast Asia, all I can say is it will taste just like home. Definitely will be back.

Love love love the food at this place. I go there when I crave Thai/Cambodian food. Everything I've tried so far has been out of the world. Seems like a family run business. They told us that they are a Cambodian restaurant but their family is Cambodian Chinese, so their food has that influence. Really love their Pad Thai. Fried rice is really good too. They have a pork intestine in appetizers that is delicious. Really recommend this place.

I ate here about two years ago and remembered it as being good. Well, it was excellent! More Thai and Vietnamese than Chinese. All the dishes we had were well done. The fried calamari was well seasoned and not greasy. We also had the lemongrass chicken and drunken noodles. They adjusted the heat for my wife. Both dishes were flavorful with generous amounts. It's small and I like walking in and seeing all the locals and there families eating there. You know it's going to be good!

My husband’s favorite spot for noodle soup! He always orders the BBQ pork thin rice noodles with intestine. I’ve tried a few dishes, the satay dry beef noodles and wonton noodles weren’t my favorites, but overall everything is pretty good. Family-run place with smooth, efficient service. We’ve never had to wait for a seat. A reliable and comfortable spot for a satisfying bowl of noodles.

I hope this place sticks around forever, stumbled on this spot after a haircut one day, and I’ve been 4 times now. It’s so good, the sons and the mom are so kind. Fried rice with bbq beef is amazing

Oh my goodness… if you love finding hidden gem/ mom and pop own or privately owned restaurant that are so good, THIS IS ONE OF THOSE! I came here with some friends after a retirement ceremony down town and we tried everything we wanted and it was amazing!! First we got the Chinese donuts with a side of warm condensed milk, at least I think that’s what it was. The donuts were so delicate but had an amazing crunch and the side dip of condensed milk was just the cherry on top! Just a nice sweet starter. Then we got sat and pepper calamari and salt, salt and pepper shrimp and egg rolls as appetizers (I know it sounds like a lot but I was with a few people) the salt and pepper seasoning on these was absolutely amazing! The peppers were so pronounced but not in an overwhelming way and it complimented the salt on both the calamari and shrimp! It was really such a beautiful stunning and tasty appetizer! We were trying not to take to many at once! The egg rolls were also delicious, nice fresh flavors inside them and just really delicate! My friends ordered the pad Thai which was pretty good. My other fried ordered orange chicken a it was so fresh! It taste like they had just made the sauce five minutes ago from actual oranges! It was so pure! And I got the bone beef stew with rice noodles and oh my goodness it was so wonderful! If you like pho you will enjoy this soup! It is not pho but PLEASE, don’t limit yourself to just pho because there are so many more soups out there! It was so light and fresh and the meat was so tender in it! The staff was so nice and tentative to us! They were also very welcoming! Ugh I want to go back already!! Update: came here after so long and oh my gosh it's just as food!! We order2d Lemon Grass Chicken, Salt and Pepper Popcorn Chicken and Chinese Broccoli. The Lemon Grass Chicken was so good lots of veggies and sauce. The Salt and Pepper Popcorn Chicken was lightly fries and had great flavor. The Chinese Broccoli was served in a home made garlic oysters sauce and it was so comforting! I also ordered the chiesw donuts with sweetened condensed milk and a Thai ice tea that was made on the spot and taste so fresh and authentic. I love this place!

Great soups! Fair portions and prices. Favorites are duck egg wide noodle soup, served dry w/soup and bone on the side; and the combo egg wide noodle soup, served dry w/soup and bone on the side. The taste of the broth is rich and exceptional. The duck isn't overly fatty or mostly bones as is the case in other duck soup restaurants. This is an example of a mom & pop restaurant that takes pride in their food and wants to serve the best to their customers. The owner is super friendly and makes you feel like a guest at her home. Update: We got the duck egg wide noodle soup, served dry w/soup and bone on the side; and the combo egg thin noodle soup, served dry w/soup and bone on the side. Both were excellent as usual! If you are having trouble deciding which soup to get, you can't go wrong with the combo. It has BBQ pork, duck, chicken, shrimp, ground pork, and fish balls. Update: Prices have increased, but still excellent quality. Update: Got the duck egg wide egg noodle soup and the beef and meatball thin egg noodle soup, both dry w/soup and bone on the side. The duck soup was excellent and the beef soup was very good. Update: Got the large duck egg wide noodle soup, served dry w/soup and bone on the side; and the large combo egg thin noodle soup, served dry w/soup and bone on the side. Both were excellent. Update: Got the large duck egg wide noodle soup, served dry w/soup and bone on the side; and the Sate Beef egg thin noodle soup, served dry w/soup on the side. Both very very tasty. Update: Got the large duck egg wide noodle soup, served dry w/soup and bone on the side; and the large combo clear thin noodle soup, served dry w/soup and bone on the side. Both were excellent. The upgrade to a large soup charge has increased to $2, and the soup dry with bone soup on the side now has a $1 charge. Update: Got the regular duck egg wide noodle soup and the beef drunken noodles. The duck soup was excellent as usual. The drunken noodles were not Thai style, but were very good. Update: Got the Seafood Pad Thai and the Duck Wide Egg Noodle soup. Both were very tasty. However, the calamari in the Pad Thai was a little rubbery, so just getting the shrimp version would be best.Update: Got the large duck egg wide noodle soup; and the large combo clear thin noodle soup, served dry w/soup and bone on the side. Both were excellent. Update: Got the regular duck egg wide noodle soup; the large combo egg thin noodle soup, served dry w/soup and bone on the side; the basil beef entree; and fried bread. Everything was excellent! Update: Got the regular duck egg wide noodle soup. Excellent as usual! Update: Got two regular combo soup with added wontons, one with thin egg noodles and one with wide egg noodles. They were both excellent. Update: Got the regular duck egg wide noodle soup with added wontons, and a combo egg thin noodle soup with added wontons. Both were excellent.

I fell in love with their fried rice!! We live in the area and found incredible reviews on this restaurant. One day we came to try their food and it was absolutely delicious. Just like the other reviews this place is a hidden gem here in City Heights. I always get the same order which is the House fried rice. Their food comes in big portions and I love to have left overs to enjoy the next day! I highly recommend this Chinese noodle restaurant to anyone!

Was curious about how much Khmer food I would find there. A great fusion. Small, busy restaurant. Table service was great! Cambodian+Chinese+knowledgeable chefs made for great food. Food was flavorful and I could tell the broth was homemade. Having the choice of noodles was a huge plus. We chose the flat rice noodles which is my preference in noodle soup. Only thing my dining partner complained about: bone-in cuts of neck meat served in the soup. I would order extra meat next time but generally noodle soups do not come with much. I always try the pin noodles wherever I see them served and not only was it full of flavor, the chicken was tender and well flavored which is a nice surprise considering many restaurants do not focus on the meat in stir fry noodle dishes. Nice extra: chili oil was spicy. Haha. Rare these days. You know they care because it’s a necessity. Everybody seemed accommodating and nice. I would go back any day.

IS INFLATION A MYTH? How did they whip up our food in like 3 minutes? Why did my huge portion of soup (pictured) that came with 2 slices of duck, 2 shrimps, meatballs, a drumstick, a bit of pork and my choice between different types of rice or egg noodles, only cost 11.50? My buddy got the bone marrow soup (not pictured) and it was only 5 bucks! Quality food perfect for struggling students in the area (lol), hearty and healthy. The soups taste like pho soup btw. Whatever garlic sauce/pieces they use are are also packing with flavor. They put it in our soups and also in the popcorn chicken. Just one thing to note though, all the garlic deliciousness are in one spot on popcorn chicken plate. I recommend picking some up and eating in conjunction with a piece of popcorn chicken. Will be back. Prices like this are like a relic of the past that we need to take advantage of! What a gem of a place.

This is a hole in the wall place with an amazing variety of delicious food. Although the place doesn't look clean, surprisingly, the restroom is fairly clean. The salt and pepper wings and shrimps are amazing. The chinese sausage fried rice was flavorful. The vietnamese style sour soup was small but tasty. We order a couple of shave ice with everything included for the kids. It was large enough for us to help the kids. Overall, great food at a fair price. Parking is tight. Try to avoid the rush hour and you won't have a problem with parking.

old school mom n pop restaurant with excellent dishes and friendly service. they are a bit understaffed, but they do their best. my family and I have eaten here for the past two decades. the lard na, crispy egg noodles and fried rice are all amazing. while it is a bit small and dated, I genuinely think it beats overpaying for the aesthetic as you would with your average modern spot these days. I do miss the free Chinese donuts they used to give as an appetizer, but it's no biggie. sometimes you gotta just enjoy the food and keep things simple instead of constantly trying so hard to curate the perfect Kodak moment.

Down to earth Chinese restaurant serving some of the top rice noodle dishes in San Diego. Our favorite is their No. 1 house combination noodle that comes with duck, chicken, beef ball, fish ball, shrimps, Chinese BBQ pork, bean sprouts, and pork bones soup (烤鴨,油雞,牛肉丸,魚丸,帶殼蝦,叉燒肉,綠豆芽,豬骨湯)and you can choose to have all these ingredients in the soup or have the soup on the side. A hidden gem in City Heights, run by a kind and hardworking family. It's an unassuming hole-in-the-wall that serves family style Chinese-Cambodian cuisine. Great bang for the buck with big portions, especially in this economy!! The salt and pepper series (chicken, tofu, calamari, and shrimp) are a big to-go hit at parties, but taste best freshly cooked for a dine-in meal. Most of their dishes are really good to solid. Definitely worth a try if you've never been. You may find yourself going back...again...and again...and again. Take pride in knowing you're supporting a local mom and pop shop that's been around for decades!

I ordered amazing duck egg noodle soup and my friend ordered bbq pork chop. Both are amazing. BBQ Pork chop has a hint of lemongrass and would definitely come back again for it

I had a combination of egg and rice noodle with soup on the side and seafood rad na. The rad na use to be good. Reason for the four stars. Otherwise they have many great dishes.

Looking for khmer food and this has both khmer and chinese menu. Oum speaks khmer, english and chinese and i wasn't disappointed in the food. After a busy day on the ocean, the samlaw machoo yoeun was just what we needed..noms!

Soup noodles are the best. You can't go wrong with their soup noodles! The broth is loaded with yummy, fried garlic and is very flavorful. Fish congee is also very good. Some of the dishes are ok.

1 of the best authentic Phnom Pehn noodle soup around (combo rice noodle special #1). Broth was excellent; plenty of meat, fish balls, 2 shrimp; rice noodles al dente. Also ordered a big bowl of pork neck bones on the side. Only comes with the wide rice noodles instead of egg or glass noodles. Why the low rating if food was so good? Points off for poor customer service. Asked the young male server there to hold the chives twice; dish still came with them. Pointed them clearly floating about but he claimed that they're cilantro!?! Had to be brought back to kitchen to scoop out. Not good practice to argue with guests when it's obviously his error.

Food was mediocre. Service was good. They were attentive to their customers. But I don't know how the restaurant got an "A" rating from the food inspector. They have empty boxes stacked in one corner all the way from floor to almost the ceiling, things all over the place, very disorganized, messy and that is in the customers' tables area. Very much like a hoarder's house. Relate that back into the kitchen. Not for my taste if you know what I mean.

Hate to give three stars for a mom and pop place, but it didnt hit the spot for me. Good portions and price, fresh. I got the fried popcorn chicken and ginger chicken. Popcorn chicken was fried well but was too sweet? Ginger chicken straight up tasted like chicken and vegetables just fried with sugar and soy sauce. It might be that cambodian food is not my type of cuisine, but everything was TOO sweet, no spice and barely any salt. People were nice though, try it you might like it.

I had their seafood mix egg noodles soup and rice porridge. Both smelled really good and looked good but the broth is really really bland. The chinese donuts weren't fresh. It was probably previously frozen because I know how homemade ones are supposed to taste like.

Found this restaurant while searching for a place to eat for lunch. I am not sure while it received good reviews. I ordered egg noodles with wonton. But I got egg noodles with wonton, roasted duck, shrimp, chicken wing, meat balls. I couldn't finish the bowl since the duck tasted badly since it was days old. The shrimp was not fresh. The broth was not flavorful to my liking.

I just don’t get it. I ordered student noodle, pad Thai, and a combo noodle soup. I called my order in on the phone and they said 20 minutes. I arrived 25 minutes later expecting my order to be ready, which my soup was but they didn’t even start my student noodle or pad Thai. I had to wait 20 more minutes before getting my food. While I was waiting I wanted to sit down but then the waitress looked at me like I wasn’t supposed to so I stood back up. 1/5 on service and atmosphere. Now the food. The student noodle and pad Thai were just terrible. It was dry and inconsistent so you get random bites of no flavor and bites of overly saltiness. See the pictures for how clumpy they were. The eggs weren’t cooked well either with burnt edges and sogginess. 1/5 on food.
