I am Tatar and I am in love with this new restaurant! One of the key ingredients for the pastries is that they have to be freshly baked. The owner and the chef take it seriously and that is why every single dish that I’ve tried is scrumptious! It is true home food prepared for you so you can walk in and enjoy it. As I live in San Jose, I also got a few things to go to try at home, and they were even better than the ones I cook! Also, it is very considerate that the packaging for to go items are recyclable (carton boxes are my fav), which is important for me when I choose a restaurant. Will be back for sure 👍

We went on a Saturday around noon and the cafe quickly filled up after us. Didn't know what to expect from this small café but the host was super hospitable and explained they served food from Tatarstan. We had a small borscht with pelmeni added on (blasphemous but so tasty) and the uchpuchmak. The quality of food was high and looking forward to coming back for more.

Delicious, homemade Tatar food in San Francisco! I loved everything I’ve tried - Abika’s broth, uchpuchmak (beef, potatoe pastry), peremech (cottage cheese, rice, raisins), and belyash (beef, potato pie). They also had Russian salad Olivie and borscht. Their tea and coffee selection is amazing. I love their herbal Tatar tea. I cannot wait till my next visit. What a gem in the heart of SF. Thank you

Todo perfecto! They speak all languages you need: Spanish, English, Russian and even Tatar. I’m from Tatarstan and proudly can tell that uchpochmak I ordered was the most delicious in whole world! As Mexican I can assure they serve very good Mexican coffee. For parents with kids - they have a tiny playground! Bring all your family to enjoy healthy, fresh and comfy food ❤️

TLDR: tartar pastries with delicious coffee and excellent service I walked in wanting to try something new and that for sure was successful. I got two pastry items and one butter coffee. The berry pastry was tart and not too sweet, the homemade jam oozed out of the center. The sugar zang wasn’t too sweet and it has a nice caramel coating on top, crispy bottom and soft buttery inside. They speak Russian, Tartar, Spanish and English as well!

Amazing food as my grandma would cook it or maybe even better! Super friendly team and owners, highly recommend trying everything from the lunch menu, which is predominantly Tatar food. Will def come back any time when back in SF.

I love everything about this place. Pastries are unique and absolutely delicious, Turkish coffee is perfect, and has a relaxed atmosphere that allows you to actually focus on the person you’re with, or just have a relaxing breakfast solo. I love the lavender in the water jug, great touch 10 out of 5 stars

This is not my first time eating at Aydea, I also enjoyed the food at the catering. I really love Tatar cuisine and this is exactly what I want, always incredibly delicious, great service. I definitely recommend it!

From the moment you step into Aydea, it’s clear that this is no ordinary coffee shop and restaurant. This local gem, recently opened, brings a breath of fresh air to the city’s dining scene, combining the art of Russian cuisine with the finesse of a chef who once graced the kitchens of Facebook. At Aydea, the quality of ingredients is paramount. It’s a place where the butter is not just butter, but grass-fed goodness, and the oils used are not only organic but also carefully chosen for their health benefits, like avocado oil. Such attention to detail in ingredient selection is a rarity, making each dish not just a meal but an experience. The ambiance of Aydea is another aspect where this establishment truly shines. Beautiful and peaceful, the interior is thoughtfully designed to offer a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the city life. The decor is both elegant and inviting, creating a perfect backdrop for the exquisite meals served. What truly sets Aydea apart, especially in a city where space is at a premium, is its child-friendly alcove. This small area, dedicated to children, features a play kitchen and reading nooks, making it a paradise for the little ones. This thoughtful addition is unheard of in the area and transforms dining with children from a logistical challenge into an enjoyable family outing. I not only got to enjoy a high-quality meal; I also got to experience the joy of dining in a place that feels like a community, where families can come together, and children are not just accommodated but celebrated. I walked into Aydea with high expectations and left with them not just met, but exceeded. It’s clear that the chef’s expertise, coupled with an unwavering commitment to quality and community, has created a space that is both a culinary delight and a haven for families. I will definitely be back, and I encourage everyone to experience the magic of Aydea for themselves.

The best beef patty (if you will) I’ve had in a long time. The scrambled egg in the egg sandwich was so delicate and smooth. All the kitchen item was perfect and so were the pastries. Great spot to enjoy great food with coffee/tea in sunny SOMA😊

This place is a gem. The cuisine is from a region of Russia with some twists, and everything I had was great. The Zang Madame and the Kohelet Zang were both things I’d get again. Want to try the tzar egg and the pancakes next time!

AyDea is definitely worth a visit if you are near 6th Street and Bryant Street. The coffee ☕ is so unique and has hints of cardomone. The Chak Chak is complimentary to the taste of their unique spices coffee. I admire this place for its food flavor, choices, and presentation.

I recently visited AyDea, and it was a truly fantastic experience. As a first-timer trying Tatar food, I am now a fan. The cafe offers an array of tantalizing dishes that are a feast for the senses. The bone broth was rich and deeply savory, while the beef borsht stood out with its robust flavors. Their uchpuchmak, reminiscent of empanadas, is filled with a satisfying mix of beef, potatoes, and onions. Peremechik is a fantastic deep fried pastry filled with juicy beef. Another highlight was the blinchiki- delightful crepes filled with either apricots or apples. The ambiance of the cafe is equally impressive, evoking the cozy feel of a summer cottage ( dacha, reminiscent of those often found in ex-Soviet regions. It’s refreshing to see a non-Russian cafe but especially one that celebrates Tatar culture. The history of the Soviet government's horrific treatment of the Tatar people makes this family-run business's dedication to sharing their heritage even more significant and joyous. My only suggestion for improvement is to include short descriptions of the dishes on the menu, which would be helpful for those unfamiliar with Tatar cuisine. Overall, AyDea s a must-visit for anyone looking to explore new flavors in a welcoming and culturally rich setting.

Friendly staff, eclectic table and music mix, and delicious food. Had the Zang Madame and it’s one of the better breakfast sandwiches in town. Buttery croissant/brioche-like bun. Salty kielbasa layer with cheese and soft cooked egg presented cleanly. Oh so good! Cream topped pastry was light, slightly sweet and great too. Across from San Francisco BMW Motorcycles.

Wow what an absolute delight. I tried the Uchpuchmak and was blown away. The staff are all incredibly friendly and the atmosphere is fantastic. I should’ve taken a picture of my cookie from the beginning but once I started it was extremely difficult to put down.

Bought a dea zang yesterday while waiting for the 8, and it was so flakey and buttery and delicious, so I came back today for breakfast. 10/10 on the zang madame. I am swooning. Will be back for dinner.

Update: the place consistently closes or runs out food way before expected including on weekends which results in wasted time. The food quality also dropped. Last time we visited the place played music so loud like it was a night club. I’ve asked the music to be quieter multiple times and the DJ who played to a crowd of 2 just ignored me. Well I don’t eat at night clubs. Previous update: Tatar food here is like Michelin-level and better than in 99% of places in Tatarstan itself. Mind blowing.
