Avis sur B Star San Francisco
1st time here and had no idea why to expect. Boy was I excited and can’t wait to come back. Everyone friendly, place and bathrooms clean, food was amazing. I had the fresh spring rolls and Filipino Breakfast, simply delicious!
We booked a 10 people dinner. The food was excellent, service was excellent, and the atmosphere was cute. We ordered appetizers, mains, wine and a beer pitcher. Didn’t order dessert, we had other plans for that. The total after tax/tip was $550, which means it was $55 per head. Reasonable prices.
My husband and I celebrated our post-wedding lunch at B Star. We rented out their beautiful patio in the back. Their team was so easy and incredible to work with (extra shout-out to Diane), and all of our guests raved about the drinks and the food. Highly recommend working with them for any events or special occasions!
We have been dining at B-Star since it opened. The food is excellent, and the interior is pleasant. My favorite is the Miso fish with ginger noodles. It's delicate and exquisite. The tea leaf salad used to be my favorite, but since the COVID it has gone downhill. No worries, there are plenty of very good choices! The happy hour is worthwhile if you can arrive early enough. Service is always efficient and friendly. Mark, the manager, handles every obstacle very well.
The nonprofit I volunteer for hosted a private event here and were blown away. The staff was kind, attentive, and incredibly accommodating, and the food was fantastic. B Star created a warm, welcoming atmosphere that helped make our evening a success. Highly recommend for private events or a delicious night out. We can't wait to come back!
We loved B Star! Being the sister restaurant of Burma Superstar (which I love), I was super excited to try B Star's fusion menu for lunch. We ordered the Fresh Spring Rolls, Pumpkin Pork Ginger Stew, Salmon Donburi, Salmon Ochazuke and Thai Green Curry Pot Pie. Everyone loved their dishes which were super flavorful and tasty, and we all felt that it was a great value, given that their prices were very reasonable for lunch. I especially loved the Thai Green Curry Pot Pie, although I would also get an order of rice to go with, if I were to get it next time. I wasn't sure about how green curry would taste in a pot pie form, but it tasted like a delicious green curry that was a little thicker than normal, which paired nicely with the flaky and crispy puff pastry. I will definitely be back!
Excellent, friendly service, lovely decor and ambiance, and tasty food and drinks. We had a great table in the back dining area, and enjoyed everything we ordered – mostly off the happy hour menu – including the sake flight and Sauvignon blanc. The tea leaf salad, samusas, and Brussels sprouts were especially delicious.
This was our first time dining at B Star and we were wowed by the variety of dishes that were offered. We started with mini ribs, Brussels sprouts and the platha dipper all of which had good flavor and were well done. The entrees followed the same quality and deliciousness with my personal favorite being the duck skin fried rice. Overall, a great dining experience and the service was also really nice.
The food was overall good. Enjoyed the salmon rice soup bowl the most. The cauliflower was not bad but it was a bit too sweet and greasy. Thinner skin or just grilled would have been nice. The pancake was good! Not too oily. Staff were nice and kind.
Sister restaurant to Burma Superstar, with a much faster seating and similar menu. We have been here for restaurant week and when we were a large group of 10. For the large group, after we got directed from Burma Superstar to B Star, they seated us within 10 minutes. The menu is similar but B Star has their own standouts, like the Salmon Ochazuke, and honestly, the tea leaf salad is just as good as Burma Superstar if not better. I highly recommend coming here if you have never had Burmese food!
Four of us had a nice dinner. The selection or choices is great and gives you some nice flavor options. Two of our group needed gluten free and the Resteraunt was very attentive and careful which was really nice. Our food came to the table a little too randomly, another words one of four entree came came five or six minutes ahead and then the next two dishes came then another five minutes and the fourth dish arrived Not a deal breaker. Everyone in our party enjoyed the meal. I found my rice noodles softer than I would have liked but don’t have enough experience to know if that is how they are served in Burma. Cost of the meal was fair and the ingredients were fresh Quantities were all good as everyone left full. Atmosphere is urban casual. With plastic chairs and patio style tables. While the staff were very busy they were also friendly.
Have been to B Star a few times for dinner and each time has been an overall good experience. The Curry Pot Pie is one of their more popular items and I can see why. The bread topping was super flakey and pairs super well with the curry. Lots of veggies and chicken in the curry as well. The salad on the side that it comes with is okay. I also really enjoyed the Firecracker Cauliflower - it's a must try! The service was fast and all of the staff were friendly and accommodating.
The ambiance and service were delightful...while the food was delish. The appetizers of Cauliflower and crispy Brussel Sprouts were amazing! The 4 stars were for the main courses. Although both were tasty and gorgeous...the Longanisa was a bit salty and the Kau Soi did not have enough soup/sauce. The Banana Shake was refreshing and perfect!
This is a 'sister' place of the Burma Superstar. At least that's what we were told by the guys at Burma Superstar. We had Khao Sui, Fiery Cauliflower, Jasmine & Coconut rice and an additional chicken dish between the four of us. The food was decent. The portion size is enough for just one person. If you are looking to share, you should order an additional dish.
Came in for the tea leaf salad and samosa soup. The salad was… fine, I guess? Mostly lettuce pretending to be tea leaves. Not bad, just not exciting. Then came the samosa soup — halfway through, surprise! Meat. In my vegan soup. Plot twist I did not order. To their credit, the staff were absolute gems. The server immediately got the manager, who explained that sometimes chicken samosa filling “accidentally” makes its way into the soup. (Which raises questions, but okay.) They remade it vegan and even brought out free vegan Brussels sprouts — which ended up being the star of the entire meal. Service? 10/10. Food? 4/10. Accuracy? Somewhere between “oops” and “whoops.” Overall: lovely people, meh flavors, and one unexpected game of “guess that protein.
B Star gets high marks for its friendly and attentive staff. They were incredibly accommodating when we requested to move our reservation to an earlier time, which was a huge plus. The restaurant itself offers two seating areas – a standard indoor space and a patio area in the back. The patio looked charming, but we opted for the warmer indoor space on this particular visit. Their SF Restaurant Week menu was a delightful exploration of Pan-Asian flavors, with Burmese influences taking center stage. We tried a variety of dishes, with mixed results: Laksa (traditional Burmese soup): This coconut curry broth-based soup was a flavorful adventure. The combination of rice noodles, grilled shrimp, crispy tofu, and fresh herbs offered a delightful mix of textures and tastes. Burmese lamb curry platter: The lamb itself was beautifully tender, and the pickled mango added a nice tangy counterpoint. However, the overall curry flavor profile felt a bit muted. It could have benefited from a bolder, more complex spice blend. Tea leaf salad: This classic Burmese salad was a textural and flavor explosion. The fermented tea leaves provide a unique savory base, while the nuts, fried garlic, and fresh vegetables add delightful contrasting textures. This was a definite highlight of the meal. B Sprouts: The Brussels sprouts were delicious and cooked well but the crunchy bits (furikake) were too crunchy and after a few bites, we were just simply picking the brussel sprouts and getting rid of the furikake and the popped rice. Rice pudding: As we were one of the first tables seated after opening, the lychee panna cotta wasn't ready yet. We could only opt for the rice pudding instead. While the rice pudding itself was creamy, it lacked any real standout flavor. We were also full by then. Thai iced tea: The Thai iced tea was watered down and lacked the rich, bold flavors. Overall, B Star has a lot of potential. The staff is fantastic, and the menu offers intriguing Pan-Asian options. However, the execution of some dishes fell short.
This was one of my least favorite meals I’ve ever had in the bay within the last 5 years. The vibes were totally fine, great wait staff. But the quality of food was appalling. I had the firecracker cauliflower to start off. Tasted like overly tangy flour ? No crunch, no life, no fresh kick. Just mushy flour flavors and a too sweet tang. the salmon ochazuke was horrible. The temperature differences in the various elements of the dish were grossly contrasting, the rice was stale, the crunch on the broth was disorientating, the actual broth was “green tea dashi” & felt sickly (no dashi came through), and the salmon floated within all of this completely irrelevant despite it maybe being a decent piece of fish on its own. Such a horrible combination I really am surprised. I normally don’t love bringing down smaller businesses but I can tell this is a venture project from the steady service of Burma Superstar. I love Clement I want it to thrive. The street would be better off without this spot. (Side note my friend mentioned the Kau Soi was “okay,” which is almost more offensive)
