Avis sur Bar 49 San Francisco
Bar 49 is a great spot for drinks in the heart of Castro. Lots of natural light and great for a sunny day. They have some good food options too. We ordered a grilled fish sandwich and chicken tenders, which were both great. For drinks, we ordered a margarita slushie and the 7x7 which was a mezcal cocktail with raspberry, both were delicious.
Bar 49 — my first time in Castro, and wow… what a welcome. This place is the perfect stop for a drink and some tasty bites to go with your cocktail. Cozy vibe, friendly crowd, and let’s just say — I’ve never seen so many good-looking guys in one place. Ever. It’s also my first time in a real LGBTQ+ city, and the energy here is just incredible. Safe, vibrant, open — like you can just be. Bar 49 feels like a little slice of queer joy on a plate. Highly recommend if you want a drink, a flirt, and a moment to just enjoy life. —Ilya #CyborgRecommends #CastroVibes
Thank the cosmos that this prime location finally has a tenant worthy of it. For a long time, this beautiful corner has been the resting place of terrible brunch place after terrible brunch place - but with Bar49 the Castro gets a nice wine / beer bar with very decent food. It's moody and chill, a great place to go when you're not necessarily looking for hustle and bustle, but rather want a nice night out. Service and staff are awesome. My only complaints? More plants would really warm up the space (look at those windows! come on!) and it would be nice if the bar was a bit moodier after dark vs playing pop music videos at all times.
We’ve been a few times since they opened and it’s been consistently great! Good food, great service and incredible environment. Fair prices. Such a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! The new cocktail menu is amazing too
love this place! stellar service, amazing people watching, and irish breakfast keep me coming back. great value and they have excellent hazy IPA and margaritas. dinner is also delicious (especially the bangers and mash).
We stopped in for drinks and ended up staying for dinner! The fish and chips were sooo good, crispy yet still tender. We munched on charcuterie and hung out, great addition to the neighborhood.

I love this place so much. They allowed me to host my bday party and were beyond professional and helpful. Previous customers were all out way before the reservation started, large food orders came quickly so no pre-orders needed, and the manager Colm and bartenders were very kind and responsive. The space feels like someone’s nice modern apartment and always cozy. Cocktails are great too. Thank you!
This place is a welcome alternative to the very mediocre dark bars in the Castro full of depressing drunks and crappy beer/wine options. One side of the bar is full windows, which gives it a great convivial atmosphere.
Great neighborhood bar Lots of beer on tap including cider Great pub food
First off the service is amazing! The setting is comfortable and inviting, and then the wine and food was amazing. I meant to stop in for a quick drink and ended up staying longer than anticipated. The team was amazing, so kind and great to talk to. Fish and chips, cheese plate and Caesar salad were delicious. The bubbles and Sauvignon blanc were also tasty. I’m coming back again tomorrow!! Finally a great neighborhood spot!!!
Great brunch options! I had a solid breakfast plate. I love the seating options too - casual yet stylish high top seating with airy bright natural light at atmosphere. Their actual preparation of the simple breakfast platter was impressive for the great price - I hate when fancy brunch places charge a ton for simple egg plates so I appreciate that they priced it affordably! Perfectly crispy bacon, tasty premium artisanal toast, and crispy home fries were just all well made and the service was super friendly. The manager also came by to check in and was clearly taking great care of the staff and customers. I didn’t have high expectations because it seemed like they just started offering brunch but I’m so glad to stop in when I walked by. Definitely stop by and try Bar 49!
Great chill neighborhood bar with food that’s popular with locals. Friendly, attentive bartenders and good cocktails. Highly recommended!
Such a great addition to the Castro -- friendly service, broad range of offerings, beautiful tile behind the bar. Here's hoping Bar 49 will be a long-standing presence in the neighborhood! Definitely worth stopping by
Amazing place to go for a night out with friends! Drinks & food are amazing; highly recommend the chicken tenders, onion rings, fries, mozzarella sticks and pizzas. Make sure you try their cosmo and Moscow mule! Very friendly staff as well!
I’ve been to every iteration of this address over the last 17 years and Bar 49 is my favorite concept for this location. I love the chill/hangout vibes. 10/10 That said, what I’m here to review is the service. Hands down, the folks that work here are genuinely the nicest crew in the Castro. I’ve never felt so welcomed & remembered by any other staff and THIS is what keeps me coming back. Most other places in the Castro are friendly too but there is something extra special about how this staff takes care of their guests. Thank you.
Smallish menu, but good food. Service is excellent- friendly, caring, timely. It can get crowded at times, but worth it. Solid selection of beer and wine (good wine is rare in the Castro neighborhood outside of the wine bars).
I’m a long time, former business owner in the Castro. Businesses come and go all the time. I’m so glad this spot is doing well. My sister and I went in for brunch this Sunday. We each ordered an adult beverage. I had the bloody Mary, that I loved so much! My sister got some vodka… Blah… Blah drink. I think she liked it as well. And we split the hamburger with onion rings and the breakfast club sandwich with Potatoes. Both were really good. However, the burger was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. I would go back for that alone. But the service was the best part. Food obviously amazing. But the service was spectacular. I felt welcomed and attended to. Thank you so much for that! I’ll be back. ;)

Great atmosphere and drinks. Came for cocktails, they did not disappoint :) will come again!

It's an odd shaped space. Many businesses have tried to make a go of it there without much success. It should just go back to what it had been for years, the Baghdad Cafe. Some of the food items are tasty and others are too trendy and trying to hard. Portions are a good size. The beverage menu is almost all beer but the food offered does not really pair up well with beer. There are a very few other beverage choices if you are not a beer drinker. The unique paint color that has been chosen as their decor color does not lend itself to a comfortable atmosphere.

It’s a great spot, but the staff decides to close the kitchen early all the time- we’ve literally walked in 10 times in the last year during allegedly open hours only to be told the kitchen staff decided to close early. Tried to be nice about it but it’s happened one too many times for me to keep letting it go.
I really wanted to like this place but it was just okay. Pros: - super cute space, perfect amount of light - always seems to have a fun crowd Cons: - service was meh, not very friendly - menu said the chicken wrap comes with fries but they said it’s an add on when I went to order? For $20 after tax, it was dry and weird. Big chunks of cucumber and had cherry tomatoes instead of sun dried as the menu said. The actual chicken was good tho.
