Our waitress was super attentive and helped us pick our meals because we are on a restricted diet at the moment. Food had great flavor and filled us up. Nice cafe to go to!
Great food, have eaten breakfast there several times. Good service, reasonable price.
Staff is awesome, the food is fantastic. They have perfected pancakes and eggs. Only complaint is that the owner just needs to specify that they charge $1.00 extra for debit card. There’s a sign up front that says credit card purchases will be charged $1.00 but doesn’t say debit. 5 stars for Staff, would be a 4 star because the owner is misleading people with the sign but wanna commend the staff and food mostly.
Impressed with this small town diner in the middle of SF. Blueberry pancakes were awesome. Others in my group had chicken and noodles and the strawberry shake. They were pleased as well. I was impressed by the quick and efficient service with only 2 staffing the place. They were also friendly. Recommend stopping in if you're in the area.
Always love this place. Food is fantastic and I'm amazed how much they can get done with such a small number of staff. Service has always been great, and I question what others have done to staff, or their own personalities when they say the service was bad.
After searching the city for a good diner- I’ve finally found it! Might be more expensive than a side-of-the-road diner but that’s to be expected. Prices are par for sf and the food is great! They also have the perfect diner coffee
All we got were eggs, ham, pancakes and coffee, but we were very pleased with our food and service! Delicious, fast, reasonably priced. Indoor and a couple outdoor seating options. They have lots of eggs Benedict and other options I'd love to try!
Rain Tree Cafe on Irving is a true gem. My wife and I have breakfast there often. I also use it as a meeting place. It has a family atmosphere and they make us feel like part of their family. The food is good.. best pancakes in town! The prices are reasonable...and so are the staff. Sometimes I have guests in town and they do everything possible to accommodate us. I love the crowd.diverse in every way and everyone is welcome.
Cute cafe, very quiet and calm atmosphere. Didn’t wait long to get seat on a Sunday morning and food was very tasty. My recommendation would be the corned beef hash if you’re a fan :)
Okay, so, the food was not spectacular. It's very typical diner food. The setup and amount of windows is nice, however, and the service was absolutely impeccable. I mean, these were some of the nicest servers and chefs I'd ever encountered in the city. Good on them.
This place doesn't promise to be more than what it is, simple food for a good price, cooked fresh right in front of your eyes. A small town diner nestled in the heart of SF. I went during lunch time, ordered a cup of coffee, & a blt with a side of French fries- even had a little chat with the cook about the local news. This is the safe haven for those from sleepy towns.
Great local cafe/diner. Love the breakfast burrito with chorizo!
This was an incredible place to have a great and very nice breakfast. Good price, amazing flavor

All around yummy food with a cherry atmosphere. Nothing more to say
Good for an omelette breakfast and calm day, Try not to finish your meal quickly if you like to stay longer, like any place in America they will try to kick you out the moment you finish the last bit! I had to order another thing just to stay longer
Wonderful place to eat, walking distance from where we were staying. Food was delicious. It was a Monday morning not sure when they do orders but they were out of items I would have ordered, eggwhites and English muffins. Other than that this is a must go to for a good old fashioned breakfast!
This is a nice little place to pick up or dine in for a traditional diner meal. The food was quickly served and well prepared. Generous portions. A little high priced but so many places are post COVID. Worth returning for another meal.
Was not initially planning to eat here but walked by and decided to stop in. There is quite a lot of indoor seating along with a bar area. Extensive menu, with lots to choose from. Semi-friendly staff. Fast service. Especially yummy hot chocolate!

Fun diner spot, honestly most of the food was really good for the price. We got blueberry pancakes, a breakfast burrito, orange juice, and the California omelette. Everything aside the orange juice (not good, wouldn’t order again) and the burrito (would’ve asked to swap out the cheese since it was American, but otherwise not bad) were great. The guy cooking everything was a machine and very efficient. Three employees worked together to take orders, serve and cook. Honestly surprised there was no line since Cafe arte down the street was so busy. I’d come back here over Cafe Arte for sure.
Ate with family that's local and has been a happy patron for a while. I had Joe's special (eggs with meat spinach and onions). Server kindly took our picture. Place was pretty quiet so we could talk without problem.
All-American diner experience. Very friendly staff. Quick service. Deep menu. Food is well prepared but not fancy. They do need better coffee options, though. UPDATE: They now have espresso drinks. Our cappuccinos this morning tasted a 3.5OK, but not great although they definitely hit the spot. We'll continue to go back each year we visit San Francisco.
Solid basic diner spot. Food was better than I, initially, expected, so was pleasantly surprised. Breakfast was fresh and filling - nicely seasoned home fries and well cooked, eggs and chorizo was perfect. Friendly staff and nice place to sit and people watch.
Food here is comparable to New Taraval cafe or any other old school diners. Price was expected and quite affordable, so I’m not sure why people complain about that in the comments- do they even live in SF? Service was friendly and fast enough and we didn’t have to wait for a table. People in there seemed mainly to be locals which is great!

How can I explain this. Good prices, for simple light tasting meals. Some meals served in large proportions and others in small proportions. This includes, breakfast, lunch & dinners. Not very much seating. Service can be very slow or very fast. Depending on how crowded it is or how many are serving. Very nice people working their to not so nice. All I can say is, I don't mind it for breakfast only and the prices. Try and be there when it isn't busy. Give it a try and see for yourself. Look it up on your computer and read the other comments, look at the menu.
The food was decent, as was the service. Nothing really stood out. Potatoes were well cooked but under seasoned. My ham and cheese crepe had more onions than ham or cheese.
I had a decent burger but did not appreciate feeling rushed. They close at 3pm and at 230 the waitress was asking all the tables to pay up. I'm trying to enjoy my lunch and so was the couple next to me and the waitress keeps asking to be paid.
Don't be fooled by the menus posted online, their prices are much higher than what is advertised. My girlfriend and I ordered two scrambles both of which were ~$19 each. What we got was soggy toast, undercooked eggs (not very much either), and bland wet country-style potatoes. This used to be a great spot but I don't know how they'll stay in business if they're charging this much for underwhelming flavors and portion sizes.
Great diner-style breakfast. I came here just to eat and draw for an hour or so. Only one waitress on staff but it wasn't so crowded. They had a pretty nice sized menu. I got two eggs any style for about 6.95. It was pretty good, nothing crazy amazing, but exactly what I wanted. I got exactly what I expected, which I liked.
All American breakfast and brunch restaurant. Decent food selection with pretty good coffee. It has the old school cafe charm to it. However, there's sternness and unfriendliness to the waiter which gives a negative vibe. As of 5/21, both outdoor and indoor dining are available. In addition, mandatory handgelling is required per waiter's demand though health guidelines have been updated. Give it a try yourself for the decent food and the demanding vibe.
Not bad. Went on a Sunday at 8; was fairly busy and had only one server so it took a hot minute to even get water, but she was nice and as attentive as she could be. Food came out quick, and was tasty, but nothing special, and adequately priced. Never thought I'd see an eggs benedict in the city for under 10 bucks. I'd go here again if it were to my convenience.
Good good. A bit of Mexican added to the standard American diner fare. Eggs Florentine and Greek Scramble both very good. Great window seats. Not noisy. Decent prices. Fast service. Nothing fancy about the place.

Well I least they fed me right? I mean come here expecting little and maybe you won't be disappointed. But don't come here expecting to be both nourished and satisfied, my dear you are barking up the wrong tree. What I liked: Not a huge wait we were able to get in fairly quickly. They do have a nice variety of food options. The english muffin was toasted well! What I didn't like: The food was decent. Wasn't well seasoned and lacked a bit of charm. Chicken apple sausage was even flavorless. I got the Chicken Apple Sausage and 2 Eggs which was about $10. It just didn't seem worth the price in its basicness. Service was decent I suppose.
On the weekend this place is packed with people waiting to get in. So, I decided to give this place a try. I headed in late afternoon and ordered a Raintree special - blueberry pancakes, with 2 eggs, and choice of sausage or bacon. I asked for runny scrabbled eggs which was decent, the pancakes tasted a bit burnt, and the sausages were ok. This place just doesn't do it for me. The food was unimpressive and honestly a bit boring.
Tough review! I ordered a pork chop breakfast. And then I got some of the best home fried potatoes I've had in a few years. But also, surprisingly, in the same dish, I got a super thin, frost bitten, and irredeemably tough piece of scrap. I say that because I could hardly tell that it was a chop. Obviously I'm speaking to the owner here. I'm sure he or she wouldn't serve this same frozen "dish" to a family member. So why did you have it served to me? Get involved or go out of business. I'm sorry I wasted my time here.
Looks good but tastes terrible. Espresso was cold and not good (wrong beans?). Service was slow and incompetent. Restaurant was empty and we still had to ask twice for water. Cappuccino was also undrinkable. Orange juice was only good thing.
Eggs Blackstone: sold as poached eggs on English muffin with tomato and parmesan. What I got: unseasoned poached eggs on Walmart brand English muffin with wet tissue tomato and a slice of American "cheese." This would have been fine if it wasn't sold for 14$. Also, waitresses bus tables and handle money, then swap to food prep such as buttering toast, without washing their hands. Gross.
Very mid overall. Old school diner vibes, friendly staff. But $21 before tip for French toast, 2 eggs, and bacon with coffee seems a bit high for this quality and style of food.

Our experience wasn’t great. We didn’t really enjoy the food. The server was not impolite, but we had a spill that got us and our neighbor wet, and we had to wait a while and then do most of the cleanup ourselves because the server was busy running a credit card. But, yes, not impolite.

Ones of the worst eggs Benedict's I've had. Hollandaise sauce was lumpy, appeared to be from a can. Staff were friendly enough, but the food was simply terrible considering the price.
Don’t go! Food is poor quality (read yelp reviews) and unfriendly staff. They gave us a table for 4 even though we were a party of 5. My 4 year old was looking forward to a pancake breakfast with his 60 and 70 year old grandmas, but that was cut short we tried to get a larger table for 5. Our order was cancelled, they demanded we leave for asking why we couldn’t get a 5 person table once two had opened up, then they threatened to call the POLICE when we asked if they had seriously just kicked us out!? We were not fighting or arguing with them at all and felt the staff blew the situation out of proportion instead of diffusing the waitress, which would have been the appropriate response given there were several open tables that would have been able to accommodate our group. Anyway, I’ve contacted the Better Business Bureau and various neighborhood organizations because this seemed a bit...well, racist. My mom and I were the only black people there and they threaten to call the police on us — ordering breakfast while black I guess. So bizarre, humiliating and rude!
The cook here, Edwin, was totally out of line and treated my girlfriend and I, like trash. He was rude, cussing at us and totally being absurd. He was trying to "mansplain" us and totally talking over what we had to say. All because, our food order was wrong and we asked to have it fixed. The waitress though, was absolutely amazing and helped the best she could. We definitely won't be going here again.
Not welcome. They hate families. They asked us to leave the stroller outside. However I come often and I thought they would be more attentioned and helpfull to find a solution (for a stroller…not a car, a stroller) but they prefered let us go. « It’s up to you » said the lady which was clearly unhappy to see me and my stroller. That the first thing she said when we arrived. « Put your stroller somewhere else » instead of « good morning ». Nice…. But it the end I thank you because you made me discover « crepevine » juste beside. They welcomed us so well and even gave toys to occupy the baby. Amazing. You’ve lost a customer. But it’s in the good of everybody. You’ll never see this awfull stroller again and I’ve discovered a much better plase. So, in the end, thank you ! (Yes, it’s up to me…)
The waitress was not friendly at all. I came here for breakfast. She saw me just one person she just said "sit at the counter/bar seat" its like she tell a 2 year old where to sit. She doesn't welcoming her guests and not even have smile on her face. There are plenty of tables are available in the restaurant she didn't even asked me where I prefer to sit. I asked her if I could sit the table outside she said there is no menu outside! She asked what do I want to eat on the menu and just want me to start my order. The way she answered me questions make me feel she is not welcome me as a guest. So i am already ready to leave. I came to the brunch place want to have a enjoyable breakdast with a good mood. She changed everyhing! I was wondering why this place is always seems empty compared to other brunch spaces nearby. Now I know the reason and I am not walk into this door ever again! ***if you don't know how to smile you should not open a restaurant!
My to go to spot to eat breakfast in Irving was closed due to family circumstances, was showing a friend around town and places to eat so since I haven't gone to this cafe thought it was worth a shot. Lets start with my friend order eggs benedict was good but the uncooked potatoes he didn'teven touch, my food well another story: runny scrambled eggs (wet and with no flavor), and the french toast were just mediocre. No flavor; I felt like I was eating a piece of sponge. Lastly, the bacon was a piece of burnt meat that tasted like char. Being the french toast a house-special, I actually had high hopes but was just utterly disappointed. But good and fast service and cheap prices.
Forced to pay for misordered burrito that a friend ordered angrily responded “there’s nothing I can do” and lectured me even though it’s not my order. Refused to remove food item from bill refused to take uneaten order back refused to be nice refused to acknowledge customer being lectured wasn’t the person involved. My pancake was dry and heavy
Rudeeeee staff messed up my order and when I asked them to fix it, they doubled down into the mistake and made it with even more of what I didn’t ask for and then yelled at me for not wanting it. Very disrespectful crew.
The bad reviews are well deserved. Eggs came cold. Coffee was lukewarm. Side potatoes were bland. I’ve never had such bad diner food!
Service was good. The food was horrible. I can’t believe we spent $45 on two meals that looked like it had been pulled from an oven and two days old. The bacon and potatoes were definitely not made that day even.
