Avis sur Chestnut Diner San Francisco
I was in SF for the weekend escaping the polar death of NC. I was averaging around 10-12 miles walking a day. If you need a good, solid breakfast to fuel your city wandering, this place is perfect. It’s quaint, has delicious food, and is your classic no frills diner - which was exactly what I wanted.
This little greasy spoon is exactly what it says on the tin. Great food, both our breakfast dishes were awesome. Small but wasn't crowded or uncomfortable. Quick service, had our food in less than 15 minutes. Super reasonable prices. Overall very happy with grabbing Sunday breakfast here!
A cute, classic diner with great service. Everything tidy and well organized. All the breakfast classics with a wide variety of omelettes. I really like this place. Felt relaxed and friendly. Enjoyed my breakfast and chatting with a friend for a good start to a day in San Francisco.
We are on a quick trip to San Francisco and wanted to drop by a local joint for lunch. We picked this place at random and are soooo glad we did. It has such a casual vibe and the food is amazing. It's very friendly and down to earth and feels like you're stopping by a friend's place to eat. We couldn't make up our mind, so we ordered burgers and pancakes. 10/10, would definitely come back.
The best french toast! We were in San Francisco for 3 days and we had breakfast the 3 days in a row there. excellent service, delicious coffee.
Food is great. The service is horrible. Wants us to order everything at once, else she gets annoyed as if we are eating for free. Most of the customer requests are ignored.
I've found this place here on Maps and followed the positive reviews: they were right! The place is quiet and cozy, food is on point and at the right price range. Coffee was good! Loved those hashbrows. Would recommend and eat again here.

Very good freshly prepared food, ideal for breakfast or lunch, would recommend.

Went for a quick bite for lunch, did the trick. The food is simple but good and Nancy seemed to be the only waitress working and was great with all the customers. Atmosphere is kind of meh but isn’t that the point of a diner??
Decided to stop by on my way home from my morning walk and enjoyed a nice solid breakfast (got the "Annette and Frankie" omelet with rye toast and home fries) at a decent price! The service was friendly, coffee was strong (in a big cup!), and the food came out without much of a wait. Nice to know that this kind of small classic diner still exists in some corners of SF!
Simply good, nothing fancy and not over priced. Great service and chill atmosphere. This spot is a great low key place if you want to be out in the city but not feel like you’re in a crowded place. I’ve been here a handful of times and they always delivers on the basics. Thank you Chestnut Diner!
Quaint little breakfast place. Excellent food. We have tried the French toast, pancakes, waffles on two different visits. And I didn't know the plain vanilla scrambled eggs could really have a taste! And we love the hostess (owner?) - all business and efficient, and manages to be friendly and courteous at the same time :)
Got omlette 11 "Annette and Frankie" very good, very cheesy, perhaps a touch overcooked but in a way that helped the texture and may have been intentional. Potatoes were great. I ordered an Americano and I don't think it was prepared with Espresso and ended up putting cream and suger in it and it was just coffee, that was the low point, but not a catastrophe. Just get drip. I came on a slow day. Very quiet. Attentive service. I'm staying at the HI Hostel near Fisherman's Warf and I'm glad that there's a sub-20 neighborhood option close by.
The food was good and service was fast. We got the Annie & Frankie omelette with hash brown and toast, and 2 stack of pancakes with sausage and 2 eggs. I was craving “diner pancakes” and this hit the spot. Great little neighborhood diner if you’re in the area.
While they can be slow, great place to eat! Your fix for a home cooked breakfast! They only had 2-3 people working on Sunday so don't come if you need to be out fast but they are working hard to give you a cozy breakfast!
While a little slow (only a couple working then someone else came in to help clean) was great food and super sweet. Will def come back! Great "mom and pop" type diner. Come support local business!

Was a delightful experience from start to finish. I think it’s the best food 🍲 I ever tested in all the states 🇺🇸

Decent little hole in the wall restaurant. Chicken BLT was good, fries tasted like they used last months burnt oil. Service was decent. Food came quick!

This place is textbook "no frills." I stopped here with my girlfriend for some breakfast before a conference. It was not crowded, and it was fairly quiet. We waited ~30 minutes for our food, which was frustrating for diner fare. But when it arrived, it was well worth the wait. The french toast was flavorful but not saccharine. The coffee was plentiful and strong. The eggs and sausage were perfect. If I were to go back, I'd adjust my schedule accordingly so I didn't have to rush. All in all, a happy experience.
Gotta be patient around 10:30-11:30, but if you’re up for a good omelette and crispy hash its amazing.

Local breakfast/lunch dinner. A step back in time. Waitress was fast. Food served quickly. Economical priced matching the proportions. My omelet turn into a scramble. Pancakes thin, and were not light and fluffy. Coffee, only one free refill. Not an IHOP chain restaurant, so its an adventure trying the owner owned/operated business.

The chestnut diner is a classic American diner. It reminds me a lot of of the diners I dined at frequently as a teenager in young adult in New York City. At first I really appreciate it the nostalgia factor, And sitting at the counters with barstools, just like I did when I was a teenager, and ordering two eggs over easy with homemade fried potatoes. Which was my go to breakfast order at the diner down the block from my Chinatown apartment growing up. I ordered a burger and fries here, which is only $14. It wasn't bad, I still prefer In-N-Out Burger though. I was planning on giving this restaurant for our five stars, simply because I appreciated ordering from here during the past week while I have been staying in this area. But I'm instead of giving them a one star review. I ordered the California breakfast omelette here for my 13-year-old son. There was something really weird and off about the omelette, like something that was non-egg material, was mixed into the egg batter. Not only was it disgusting, I couldn't put my finger on it, but there was definitely no -dairy filler in that egg batter. A shudder to think of what might have been in his food. Also, on the days that I ordered from here, I I felt kind of sick. It's really hard to pinpoint exactly what I ate, on those days that was making me sick, but after seeing and tasting my son's omelette, I will never again order from Chestnut Diner.

Worst service I’ve ever received in my entire life. She wanted me to GET UP and bring the menus to her and there were only 2 people in there. Rolled her eyes whenever I talked to her and was EXTREMELY RUDE. It was the weirdest interaction I had this week.
