Excellent food. So tasty! Very good! I had the risotto special (ate the entire plate). Had the caprese (was perfect, so fresh). Had the ravioli special (very, very tasty) & tried the pork chop (yum). Also, what great service, what a super staff! They're so sweet & friendly & on top of things. Cozy, yummy spot. Recommend 👍👌
really charming, authentic and delicious Roma style restaurant. attentive service without being stuffy and clearly a beloved neighborhood eatery. simple dishes in the Roma style made with high quality ingredients and an attention to detail. the menu is small and straightforward- probably not a haven for the vegans and definitely not the gluten free eaters but that’s not what they’re trying to do. it’s home style Italian cooking done exceptionally well. truly a gem- in a city with so much overpriced italian food, Lupa offers excellent value, beautiful presentation and superb flavor.
Had a great dinner at Lupa! Was impressed with the salmon (gluten free) and everyone enjoyed their pasta dishes (which aren’t available gluten free, but there are a ton of other options!) The vibe is wonderfully warm, charming and cozy. Service was exceptional. A great spot!
Great local find that serves authentic offerings with a spin. You almost feel like family when dinning here, service was delightful and food was well balanced! The bruschetta was divine!!!! Crème brûlée was slightly over toasted. Would return!
Everything was great. The flavours, the temperature of the food when served, just fantastic. I did find that my spaghetti was just a tad bit underdone, the other pastas were al-dente. Sorry, I forgot the names of all the dishes. The tiramisu was also so so good! This might be my new favourite Italian in town!
An absolute joy to eat here with very affordable prices. The pasta was delicious we ordered the tortellini with creamy tomato sauce, the mushroom fettuccine and the roasted cheese all of them DELICIOUS the service was fast and friendly. It was very fast as well.
Great place for Italian food, feels very authentic (including the attitude of the waiter, which, like a true Italian, didn't really try to be nice or chat with us). The lasagna I got was a good size portion that tasted great and the tortelloni alla cardinale was a delicious dish, but not really big. Overall, a good place.
I can’t believe I have not written a review on Lupa Trattoria before. I have been coming here regularly for the past 12 years. This, in my opinion, is the best Italian restaurant in San Francisco. The secret is simple dishes, executed perfect every time. Stefano, the owner maintains the quality of food, service, and wine selection extremely well. This restaurant, truly, is one of the best kept secret in San Francisco.
A delightful Italian spot in the heart of Noe Valley. It's very quaint in the interior, and in the back is a larger-than-expected space with firepits. If it wasn't so cold, I would have preferred to sit in the back. The service is excellent and the servers are so attentive. Every item comes with an offer of fresh-cracked pepper and cheese. I ordered the pasta with seafood, which was a little bland, but my partner had a flavorful truffle pasta that was divine. It is a classy but not too over-the-top place for dinner.
Great Italian food ! Great prices ! Great service! The carpaccio is the best I’ve had . The bread and olive oil they serve is delicious. The bread was warm and crusty. The pasta dishes are incredible, the spicy pink sauce is just right, not too thick and lets you taste the fresh pasta the lightly toss into the sauce . We ended with the profiteroles with a warm dark chocolate sauce . Love this place. I had my moms 80th birthday here and the service staff was amazing.
Another fabulous meal at Lupa! Couldn't have asked for a better Valentine's Day dinner!
My friend said I had to try it cuz I liked the Mona Lisa down on Columbus, she was not wrong. This is an AMAZING little hole-in-the-wall place that is a tiny little gem amongst this city. I'm home and sooo STUFFED ❤️ 💙 💜 💖 💗 💘 (don't forget dessert...we had the cream puffs in chocolate sauce 😋)
Ordered the Pappardelle with lamb Bolognese sauce, Caesar salad, and the Bosc pear w/mascarpone cheese and prosciutto. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend.

One of my favorite Italian places in all of SF! We drive out of our neighborhood to come to this place! The truffle pasta and the pink sauce pasta are the best! They have an outdoor (heater) patio in the rear as well as plenty of indoor seating. Friendly staff and just general neighborhood feel
Food was good, wanted to order everything on the menu. Decided on the rack of lamb. Perfectly cooked but there was a thick sweet sauce on them. Not my thing. Next time I would know (and now you know) and get it on the side. Pasta was great, salads were great, everyone enjoyed their meal.

Food is fine but nothing special. Service is attentive and kind. Atmosphere is nice - a homey, traditional feel. My wife and I came here on a Monday morning. We made a reservation 15mins in advance and had no issues getting a table. We shared a salad and had a pasta each. The pastas were perfectly fine but nothing amazing. My seafood spaghetti had a generous portion of mussels, clams, shrimp, and squid. The salad was disappointing - for $14 I’d expect more than a small plate of mixed greens with a lemon vinaigrette.
Our first visit here was a mixed experience. Service was a strong point. It was attentive and efficient from start to finish. The food, however, didn’t quite hit the mark. The salads were fine, but the main dishes and bread lacked distinction. Nothing was bad, just nothing memorable. One notable downside was the seating for two. In the main dining room, we were initially placed very close to neighboring tables. After asking for something more private we were placed along a busy walkway used by staff. It made private conversation difficult and didn’t feel ideal for a date night. On the positive side, while the restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived, it filled up quickly with families and larger groups. That’s usually a good sign. I’d say it’s worth trying if you’re in a group of three or more, but it's probably not my pick for a more intimate meal for two

Average food overall. Slightly greasy and a tad salty. The noise level was not conducive to a relaxing evening. All the tables around us were filled with very loud conversations that appeared to be competing to be heard. We couldn’t hear each other talk. After a long week at work, this was not the place to start the weekend. The starters were not removed before the entrees arrived. We were missing a knife to eat the entree with. Long wait to order and between courses. Definitely a place for local folks to enjoy.
