Avis sur Masala Dosa San Francisco
Criminally underrated The food is very good and reasonably priced for SF (e.g. lamb biryani for $16). The meat and portion are generous. The lamb vindaloo is excellent and the mango lassi tastes just right
My go to place for dosa! They have a great selection for dosa, I loved their mysore masala dosa — the tomato chutney was cherry on top! Chicken Biryani is also pretty good. Beautiful decor and peaceful atmosphere. Servers are humble and kind. The owner is very welcoming. Worth a visit!
Love, love this restaurant! Everything—from the atmosphere, food, to the service—was beyond expectations. 💕 You must come and visit this place; you’ll love it! I had the chicken dosa, and it was absolutely delicious—the dosa was fresh and perfectly crispy! The rest of the food was amazing too. I ended the meal with my favorite dessert, gulab jamun—so good! 😋 Next time you’re visiting San Francisco, make sure this restaurant is on your list. 👏🏼
Masala Dosa Restaurant deserves a solid 5 stars! The Veg Pakoda was incredibly crispy and perfectly cooked. Tea was very refreshing, service was very fast, and the overall ambience was fantastic. A delightful dining experience worth recommending.
Stopped by for a late lunch on Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was not too busy, so we got our food quickly. Had a spring dosa (vegan), an okra curry dish and chicken biryani. Everything was very delicious and tasty. The server was nice and kind, and knew the menu very well. Parking was relatively easy, there was also a MUNI stop close by. Clean area and restroom.
Great Dosa and quick service despite not much staff! The restaurant was pretty quiet at noon on a Friday, and our waiter was very kind. I got the Maysore Masala Dosa. The dosa was very good, and came with a hot sumbar along with two chutneys. Unfortunately, one of the people in our group did not receive their order, but the waiter acknowledged the mistake and offered to make the dosa.
This place has some delicious Indian cuisine! We had the Garlic Naan, the Goat Cheese Stuffed Naan, Basmati Rice, Chicken Madras Curry, and Seekh Kabab Uthappam (made with lamb). We had enough leftovers for another meal the next day. My fiance is Maharastrian from Pune, India and he said we will definitely be coming back. This place deserves a much higher rating! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

There’s 4 different Indian restaurants within a block but this one is by far of my favorite. It’s more casual than the others, but prices are reasonable and the staff (or at least the owner/manager) is very friendly. In case it wasn’t obvious from the name, you should definitely try the dosa!
Wonderful friendly staff and probably the best chicken tikka masala I’ve had in the states. If you live in the inner sunset, be sure to check this place out!
The dosas were fresh and tasted so good, the chutney accompanying the dosas was delicious. I requested for the dosas to be less oily and the server was accommodating with my request. Medu vada was crispy and well made. Order the tandoori plate , it was alright might not go for it again.
The food was above average (6/10). But service was great(9/10). The location is perfect for tourists visiting the golden gate park. Their masala dosa is definitely not giving them good points especially with their name being the same. It is not an very large place but small and cozy.
I tried Masala Dosa and Mysore Masala Dosa. They were both exactly same . The spice level was mild, which I love. The dosa was Delicious. The atmosphere was great too. The Parking there was Limited. Overall great experience must visit
A relaxing place to enjoy some healthy Indian food with friends and/or family. I like that they have some of the dishes which I don't find in many other Indian restaurants, like Idly and Dosa. Papadum and Mango Lassi are always my favorite. All the curry dishes are good. There are also gluten-free dishes available. Service is courteous. A good neighborhood restaurant that's easy to bypass.
After a stroll up to Golden Gate Bridge in the dense fog, we needed to fuel up ourselves. Tracked down Masala Dosa, a casual food joint based on a busy street, however, surprisingly, it wasn't too busy. Found a cozy corner and ordered for South Indian delicacies along with Murgh Masala (chicken). Our food was served in the next few minutes. I liked each and every food item served to us— Masala Dosa, Idli paired with yummy tomato chutney and Sambar. Don't be confused with the name of the restaurant, they also serve North Indian food and I believe their strong suit is the Mango Lassi. Parking- No designated parking space, we street parked our car one block away and walked a few steps. Our server was respectful. #Day1 #SFO
Grabbed a quick lunch with a coworker here, as the restaurant we wanted to go to was unexpectedly closed on a Friday afternoon. We went here not expecting much, ordered their garlic basil naan, chicken tikka masala and lamb biryani. I have to tell you, the Lamb biryani was heavenly! Perfectly spiced basmati rice, lamb meat was very tender and was not gamey. The naan was great as well, apparently the yellow tinge of the naan is like what it is in India and not a lot of American Indian restaurants have this yellow naan. I was not impressed with their chicken tikka masala, was a bit runny for my liking, and seamed like it was missing something, but could not pin point what... but otherwise, this restaurant is quite good!

Sambar, sides are good! Dosa/Uthappam are decent/good, met our expectations. Tandoori flavor could be better (it didn’t meet our expectations).

The restaurant is in a good location but there was no parking space available nearby and we had to park our vehicle in a parallel street. Food was delicious but the customer service was not great. The staff at the restaurant was a bit rude. We ordered fried idli, sambar vada and chai. Everything tasted good and I especially loved their fried idli and the chutneys that came along. 4 stars for taste and only 2 stars for service.

Food quality needs huge improvement!!! When I first saw Rogan Josh, I wanted to walk out however we were starving, worst decision ever! Our waiter was great though. Please avoid this price!
The WORST spring dosa I have ever had in my life!! They have No clue or probably have never seen a spring dosa.. There was no spring or grate, just whole boiled vegetables in a dosa that was not even cooked properly.. WORST place ever! I wouldn't recommend anyone for this place! Save your money and look for another south indian restaurant- Don't go by the name!

We visited this restaurant with high expectations, especially given its name. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not meet those expectations. Service was courteous but slow, with dishes arriving one at a time, which affected the flow of the meal. An incorrect order was initially delivered; although it was promptly replaced, it added to the overall wait time. In terms of food quality, several items did not match the descriptions or the standards we anticipated. The sambar-dipped medu vada, vada was not dippped, they were served separately and was different from what was presented on the menu. The idlis were unexpectedly dry and firm, and the dosas were average without any standout flavor. Given the restaurant’s name, we especially looked forward to the masala dosa, but it, too, fell short of expectations. Service was courteous.
Would not recommend eating here - the food is bad and does not taste fresh. Don't be fooled by the promising location and chic interiors - the namesake Masala Dosa was sour and burnt both times I went. The chefs and management really need to up their game.

Masala Dosa cannot make a Masala Dosa! We went there and ordered Medu Vada and it wasn't even Medu Vada.. when asked about the ingredients the waiter said he would enquire the cook but never came back with the asked info. Masala Dosa wasn't even good and keeping the restaurant name as an item they can't prepare is ridiculous!! If you're looking for good Indian food then stay away from this place!
