Avis sur Mayes Oyster House San Francisco
I come here a handful of times, and it always ends up with some drunk wild events. I think they may just oversell you on the alcohol, with bottle services costing upwards to 300 dollars. There's not a lot of space to dance, and there's a cover fee. But it's still fun for what it is.
Matt (the owner), Tim and Larry were amazing for my graduate schools event. In all of the planning they were flexible and accommodating. The event turned out a great success. Honorary mentions: Great customer service day of Event space was well prepared for us Support throughout and great drinks
I've never had the food here but they have a great open mic for comedy here on Wednesday nights. It's a lot of fun. The bartender Tim is excellent. Definitely go back.
I went here over the weekend at night when it turns into a club. It was bangin'! The bouncers were not bad and the drinks I had were not watered down. Bar service was quick and friendly too considering there is only 1 bar. The DJ was spinning hip hop and everyone was dancing.
I have only been to Mayes to dance, but it is a really great place to dance! They play really good music and the dance floor is really large. They play the music videos on the tvs that are on the dance floor as well. They have nice clean bathrooms and lines are never too bad. It is such a fun place!
Love this place! My favorite spot in San Francisco to get some dancing with my friends on the weekends or to just chill at the bar. One of the best happy hour in San Francisco from 5-7pm weekdays/ 3-7pm weekends. Food is awesome too, Oysters are their specialty.Staff is superfriendly and fun. Also great venue to host events - tons of beautifully designed, versatile space.
Mayes is one of Nob Hill's best kept secrets. Open late most days of the week, this mid-sized club is HOT, featuring local DJs, great music, and always packed with young, diverse crowds. It's also right across the street from several late night pizza places—great when you're starving after a huge night out. If you don't like giant establishments packed with losers but still want to dance your pants off, this is definitely the place to go. It's also clean and has the most hospitable staff out of any club I've ever been.
Me and my best friend came for crawloween and it was a 10/10 experience, the drinks were cheap and good and the music/club vibes were everythinggg.
This place is off the hook till 2 in the morning. DJ was killing it. Everybody was grooving. No review for the foodie I did not eat food
Excellent food, environment and friendly service. French toast with lots of flavor, eggs, bacon and salmon. Nice drinks. A pop up. The manager came by twice to visit. Id do it again anytime!
Two girls and I had a good time here for Saturday night dancing, music, and drinks. Hospitable owner and staff. Proper restroom. Young 20s crowd and music to fit. Integrity true to their web-posted lost and found policy: I left behind a personal valuable and the owner and staff kindly found it and had it ready for pickup the next day. Thank you Mayes!
Great spot to grab a drink and watch the boats come and go!❤️
If you like sweet drink you will love this! See Tiffany and she will hook you up. Fun, energized and she knows what's doing. 5 star for sure!

Mayes Oyster House in San Francisco is a historic gem that delivers an enjoyable dining experience with a lively atmosphere. Known for its seafood and raw bar, this spot is perfect for oyster lovers and anyone looking for a great night out. Food: The oysters are the star of the menu, and they do not disappoint. Fresh, flavorful, and served with a variety of sauces, they’re a must-try. The rest of the menu offers a good selection of seafood dishes, including crab cakes, clam chowder, and grilled fish, all of which are well-prepared and satisfying. For non-seafood lovers, there are options like burgers and salads that are equally enjoyable. Drinks: Mayes boasts an excellent bar menu with creative cocktails, a solid beer selection, and a good range of wines that pair perfectly with the seafood. Their happy hour specials are particularly popular and a great way to enjoy quality oysters and drinks without breaking the bank. Atmosphere: The vibe is casual yet vibrant, with a mix of locals and visitors. The interior combines a historic charm with modern touches, and the lively energy makes it a great spot for groups or a fun date night. On some nights, they even feature live music or DJs, adding to the overall experience. Service: The staff are friendly and attentive, even during busy hours. They’re happy to offer recommendations, whether it’s the best oyster pairings or their personal favorite dishes. Downsides: It can get quite crowded during peak hours, so reservations are recommended, especially for larger parties. The noise level might also be a bit high for those looking for a quieter dining experience. Overall, Mayes Oyster House is a fantastic spot for fresh seafood, a buzzing atmosphere, and a taste of San Francisco’s history. Whether you’re an oyster aficionado or just looking for a great night out, this is a place worth visiting.
Can we discuss? From staff to mgmt & beyond, all around great people, food & times. Highly recommended to all. Do enjoy, was a wonderful occasion for the Super Bowl.

A bit hit or miss. I think they just get a bit busy for their own good sometimes, but usually fun
So I can't speak to the food here, but the nightlife is great! We were here on a Saturday night, right before 10pm. That gets you in the doors without having to pay cover. After 10pm, cover is only $10, so it's really not that bad. The bathrooms are clean and the music was good. There are two bars - one up front in the mingle/bar tables area, and one in the back in the corner of the dance floor. The dance floor is a good size but it gets packed later on in the night. So if you're not into a squish-fest, you've got to plan your timing just right.
This is a review of the club. Pretty good crowded club on a Friday night. They have TVs playing the music videos. They play some older songs that everyone knows. $10 cover. Staff didn't seem that professional at closing time.
only been here for dancing and it is very fun, but music is very very loud. they have a decibel reader on wall and it stays above 100 decibels which can be a danger. bring earplugs just in case!!
Has anyone ever come here for the actual food? I'm not sure, but if you're looking to dance, then this is a pretty good spot. The music is pretty good and there's a fairly big dance floor. The drinks are ho hum, so don't expect the world's best old fashioned here. Word of the wise, watch out around midnight because that's usually when the Marina creeps down and invades this fun spot.
Great DJ for dancing. I've never eaten at Mayes, but I've been dancing on a Friday night and really enjoyed myself. The music was great and it wasn't too crowded. No cover at the time either and short wait time.

Came here for a friend's birthday party the day before Halloween this year. It was incredibly packed. We had ordered table service and were hoping to get some space, but the table service really just included the drinks and the table. There was no control over space or who was occupying tables (someone was sitting at our table when we got there). The crowd was obviously crazy, but overall a fun night. The music was a mix of old 90s to current pop and hip hop, lots of identifiable songs and not so much EDM or house music.
Lack of information on prices, prices are at the head of the customer and are not marked anywhere. I was told that a cocktail was at $10, they made me pass the card for that amount, 30 days later the statement showed me $16. From the moment the prices are not displayed clearly, in Europe this is considered a fraudulent sale. I got tricked for a total of $25, we had a lot of fun there, that's why I'm leaving 3 stars. But always pay in cash.
This place gets REALLY hot on a busy night. The dancing is ok and you get drinks relatively quickly. I wouldn't say this is the best place in San Francisco, but it for sure isn't the worst. If you're into the casual club scene it's a fun time.
This place is fun if you are looking for a rowdy night or love the club scene of Polk st. However, it is very crowded, hot and loud. If you do not like clubs, this is not the place for you. The wait for drinks is extensive, the line is always long to get in and there is almost always a cover. Can be a fun night out but is not for everyone.
Honestly this is my spot to go dancing but after charging discrepancies, I might reconsider. My cousin got two drinks for $32 and one hour later I got charged $43 for the same 2 drinks. This seems weird. The lady working Saturday the 10th definitely over charged, while the guy always charges the same (I believe he's the owner). Not the biggest deal, but not a good look.

We came here for a birthday dinner and comedy show and were pretty disappointed. I fell in love with their menu and planned a whole event around it. No where on their site does it say they don't serve food at their comedy shows!! We get there ready to eat oysters and fancy dishes and there was no food in sight!!!! They only had a bar, with low quality drinks and low shelf bourbon/whiskey options. We also paid for vip seats for the show and our seats were given away. The place is definitely a lower level than what their website advertises. Not up to the par we anticipated. Luckily there are a lot of high end food options nearby. We enjoyed food and drinks at other places that night. Don't think we will be back there.
The comedy show was cool. Some of the comedians were hilarious! Warning: they all throw the n* word around alot if that bothers you. The drinks were lacking tho :-( The cocktails are $15 each, but they didn't have Ameretto to make a sour...They also didn't have Apple Crown Royal and the Margarita wasn't the greatest. Overall, it was a cool experience.
Went here for a comedy performance. The setup was good and enjoyed the comics but the bar could use some more consistent cleaning. Not sure I'd eat here.
Avoid! I attended Laugh GPT. (Or atleast I think I did) Honestly I feel scammed, it was just a series of comedians and had nothing to do with Chatgpt. The comedians were OK but it was so miss sold to me. I spent the first 20 mins thinking I had come to the wrong place. The photos are different from whats advertised and the venue is pretty run down Pay a bit more and go to a better show
Is supposed to host good watch parties for games but we were honestly disappointed. No sound for the two hours of the game, no table to seat and expensive cover (40+$) without drinks included… Do not recommend.

Comedy show was not as advertised, nor very good. All the beer taps were down. We got mixed drinks and instantly felt sick when we got home.
IPHONE THEFT IS NOTORIOUS HERE I went to Mayes last night (5/4) and my iPhone was stolen out of my purse. I just wish I had read the reviews on this place prior to going because I would have read the plethora of reviews noting STOLEN iPHONES OUT OF PURSES. Security brushed it off. Its dark, loud, and we were crammed in like sardines. The most interesting part about it is this has been going on for years (one review even stated that 14 girls reported missing iPhones) and management is doing nothing about it. Why? Because they're most likely in on it and sending people into the crowd to steal phones. DO NOT GO HERE. If you do, be very cautious and deal with the risk. Find any other bar with music and keep your precious belongings to yourself. I'm sick to my stomach knowing that I lost something so valuable to me with so many memories. I don't want this to happen to anyone else!!!!
DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR! The " bartender " is bigoted and will charge you whatever she wants. I was charged 45 dollars for 2 drinks and when I asked why the drinks were so much her response was " cause" . I am fighting the charge with the credit card company but I am disappointed with the owner and management for allowing such a person to abuse power like that. Avoid at all costs. And anyone associated with this business.
I ordered two shots and two drinks with tequila and pineapple juice. It came out to be 85 in total, I tipped cash so I didn’t check the transaction. I saw on my account I was missing extra 15 so when I checked the transaction again they charged me 100. I tipped cash and I never would think to spend 100 on simple drinks.
Went to a comedy show this weekend. It was BAD. The comedians are not funny at all. In fact, the first comedian was so high that he slurred so much and we could barely understand anything. The second comedian- looked like she didn't have a script and just decided to say a bunch of random thoughts on the stage and lots of vocal fillers ("uhhs" and "umm"). The third comedian - so boring that we walked out. It's super cheap and SUPER BORING comedy. Save your money and watch some videos on youtube instead.
My friend had his birthday party here tonight and 3 of our friends had their wallets and phones stolen from there purses that were zippered closed and on their person. We were I outside talking to the cops and 8 other people also had their belonging stolen tonight and they said it happens all the time at Mayes. Don’t go here. Professional thieves target this place. I’ve been out all over SF and never had this happen to me or my friends in the four years I’ve lived here.
wish i could give a lower score… i went on a busy night so i get it being crowded and hot. what i’m upset about is that the bartender told me the tab was $65 i gave her cash tip, the next morning i check my statement and it went up to $74 at fist i wasn’t upset but now that i’m looking at my statement it went up to $80!! why am i getting an additional $15 charge?? on top of that i asked for a pineapple chaser and it was RANCID. never coming here again.
STOLEN PHONES! READ REVIEWS! STAY AWAY. If you read all the reviews, you will notice this happens ALL the time here. Went with my friends on a saturday night, 3 of us got our PHONES STOLEN FROM PURSE. A staff employee told us "oh 4 other girls just came to tell us they got their phones stolen too". Told the owner of the bar right after and he didn't seem to care and didn't try helping. All he did was say "I told security" and walked away. Reading from the reviews and how often phones are stolen here, I find it really suspicious that this happens so often and the owner/employees aren't doing anything to stop this. Please do not go and support this place until this stops! ONLY GO HERE IF YOU WANT YOUR STUFF STOLEN. Never coming here again.
Attended the NYE comedy show. It was advertised that some bigger name comedians would perform, but it was all very local, very amateur folks. It was also advertised that there would be seating, but they didn’t set up enough chairs. More than half the attendees ended up standing by the bar where it was difficult to hear.
They used to have good music selections. Now they just play typical pop songs you can hear all the time at shopping malls. I mean cmon it’s Friday. I requested a song for Dj, never played it!!!! Ain’t it

Stay away from this place. We booked tickets for ‘Laugh GPT: SF’s First AI-Powered Stand-up Comedy Show’, expecting something unique and innovative as advertised. Instead, we walked into an almost empty bar with a handful of local comedians delivering unfunny, low-effort sets. There was nothing AI-powered about the show…just some guys and the same tired jokes. It felt misleading. Definitely not worth the time or money.
Only thing funny about the comedy show was the taste of the tap beer. Paid for a ticket online and host further asked for donations.
Purchased expensive “VIP” comedy tickets for a night of disappointment. The comedians were awful and most were staff from the club, not at all as was advertised, the place is very run down and not at all like the pics on the website again false advertisement, there is no food! Do not get taken and book a comedy night elsewhere.
Decided to check out this comedy show and it was AWFUL. Please save your money and time, do not come to this venue/event. The space is very run down and the host (I believe his name is Damien) was rude and had no idea what he was doing, seems like they just let anyone do the job now.
My friends and I went to Mayes Oyster House for their Super Bowl watch party and it was a terrible experience. The event was advertised as free entry before 3:30 on Eventbrite, but when we arrived they told us it was not free and made us pay anyway. This seems to be a recurring issue. We know they do use Eventbrite because other people bought their tables through the exact same site and were let in without a problem. It honestly felt like a tactic to get people there and then charge them at the door. The audio for the game did not work for about 40 minutes after kickoff, so we missed the entire first quarter with no sound. For a Super Bowl party, that is unacceptable. We also ordered a bucket of beer and were told it would be 50 dollars, but we were charged 65 instead. Between that and the rude, unprofessional staff, everything felt overpriced and shady. Overall this place felt dishonest and poorly run. Just do not go here. This place sucks.
Went for a game, cover was a random number that was decided by the bouncer. High cover and no drink included and then high prices drinks too Sound was also not working and we were just waiting, also there were absolutely no tables to sit at Felt like getting scammed, deceiving bar. will never come back.
Super Bowl was a disaster. The audio didn’t work for the game. The bathrooms didn’t have any soap or toilet paper. Simultaneously people had to pay $20 to get in and $50 for 5 cheap beers… Would not come back here for any event. We went next door to the Irish pub and it was a million times better.
