Avis sur The Velo Rouge Cafe San Francisco
Grateful to the SF Velo Rouge Cafe for taking my phone order while I was on a hike through San Francisco’s iconic trails with my Northern California Camino group. Several of us called ahead and they had our food ready when we arrived. I scarfed down the BALT sandwich served with the best house salad. I am very picky about salad dressing and it was a song for my taste buds. 🎉 Thank you to the lovely person who took my order and had it ready. You must drop by when you’re in the area. Our group enjoyed the food at the Presidio picnic area overlooking majestic views of the city. It was the perfect day made even better by great food.
First time trying out this place even though i’ve passed by it a bunch of time, got me the breakfast burrito which came with a side of pico de gallo which tasted really fresh plus the freshest chips i’ve ever tried, was sorta of empty when i arrived but got full when i left. Plus i recommend the Elvis sandwich(PB&J). The bread they use for their sandwiches is really good, thick but not hard like all other thick breads i’ve tasted, really soft & fresh.
One of my favorites, great breakfast sammich and great coffee.
Warm, weathered, attractive, ambience, menu clearly posted at the door with plenty of offerings. Staff was very pleasant and efficient. All the selections shared by our party of five were fantastic great Homie, creative breakfast and lunch comfort food, the kind of place that adds their character to the city..
I absolutely love this place, great atmosphere and always the sweetest people! Hands down the best breakfast burrito I’ve ever had, I highly recommend trying them when you’re in the area!
An absolutely charming cafe! The service was excellent, as was the food. Both their breakfast burrito (called the Leipheimer) and their classic diner-style two egg breakfast (the Arguello Breakfast) were excellent, as was the latte I had. The cafe is a cozy, comfortable spot to take a nice leisurely coffee break or meal. The proximity to GGP is another big plus! If you aren't a bike person, you won't find the bike theme to the cafe over-the-top or annoying. But if you do like to bike, their menu is full of bike-related easter eggs (the Leipheimer Burrito, etc), and there are lots of fun old school bike racing pictures and posters around the place!
The Velo Rouge Cafe is a hidden gem in the Inner Richmond! The food is delicious—my eggs benedict with crispy hash browns and fresh orange juice were perfect, and my friend’s classic breakfast plate was just as good. The staff is warm and welcoming, and the service was quick even during a busy morning. The cafe has a fun bike-themed decor with a cozy neighborhood feel, and it’s dog-friendly outside, which makes it extra inviting. Definitely a spot I’ll return to for both the food and the vibe.
I’m so happy that we picked Velo Rouge Café from multiple others! I’m picky, I really am. But here - portions are decent, absolutely delicious food, well cooked and tasty. Coffee - extra star for that! Tasty. Cozy. Healthy. Highly recommended! P. S. Thank you for your support of Ukraine 🇺🇦, that’s melted my heart
Good breakfast spot made for bicycles and the riders.
Ordered my favorite Salmon Egg Benedict for the new year lunch! So yummy and delicious! Feeling so grateful to enjoy my lunch time with friends at this cozy and clean place. Thanks for the staff providing this awesome food and the great service. It really makes my first day in 2024!
Oh my god, what a find! Delicious breakfast & hearty portions. We stuffed ourselves more than we should have & oh boy oh boy - what a post-vaccine brunch did it make! We ordered the burrito, egg breakfast & banana pancakes - I blame the vaccine, they make you hungry!! Utterly delicious, highly recommend. Sit outside & soak in the sun on a nice chilly, sunny SF spring day.
Loved the atmosphere, outdoor seating, latte, and scone. Best latte in town, to date. Had the spinach scramble; it was not only yummy, it was so much that I took half home for the next day!
Hey. This one is worth a try! The care and attention to detail! Sweet! That combined with the portion size makes this place well worth the time for breakfast. I'm giving it my coveted "Clean Plate Award!"
Velo Rouge is neat little cafe perfect for a bicycle ride pit stop. They have bicycle racks outside and is on Arguello, which is a busy bicycle thoroughfare to the Presidio from Golden Gate Park. You don't even need to lock your bike up because of the seating outside. We had coffee and a breakfast burrito $14. The coffee was not bad. The breakfast burrito was very tasty. Service was fast and friendly. Great job staff at Velo Rouge.
It’s a good spot! I had the 2 eggs any style breakfast and was very satisfied. I also ordered a mocha too. Solid taste and temperature. The prices were fair for SF (and for the quality of food). So what’s so great about the place? Well, the atmosphere. Nice soft rock music at a good volume to have a conversation. Classic SF cafe interior look (think rundown SF shop…it’s a good thing). Very nice lady running the cash register. Close proximity to GG park without the tourists! LOADS of bicycle parking. Now my personal favorite, I hate when restaurants give you like 2 or less packets of jam for your toast. I’m a guy who likes a solid foundation of jam per toast ratio. There’s a whole area in the cafe where you can gather how ever many jam packets you need! (Also hot sauce and condiments are there too) I love that kind of freedom. If I’m in the area again I’ll definitely be back!
My friends and I were craving some socially distanced brunch before hitting Golden Gate and stumbled upon this gem. I loved everything about Velo. Prices? Affordable for SF. Portion sizes? Generous. Service? Speedy. Overall taste? Bomb. My partner and I ordered the french toast and smoked salmon benedict, which came with hearty roasted potatoes and fresh fruit (a nice touch - the orange and apple slices helped clear our palates at the end of the meal). Both dishes really hit the spot. I also liked how quiet and peaceful the surrounding neighborhood was - my friends and I were able to have an uninterrupted heart-to-heart conversation.
I loved the cyclist theme & atmosphere. Also good healthy food

Breakfast sandwich was really yummy!
I had a great experience at Velo Rouge Cafe on 798 Arguello Blvd in San Francisco. The service was excellent friendly, attentive, and welcoming. I ordered a sandwich, and it was amazing: super tasty, fresh, and the portion size was generous. It definitely hit the spot! A cozy spot with great food and good vibes. I’d happily come back again!

Four stars for friendly and patient staff members. Minus one star for lack of cleanliness. However I do see they have a help wanted sign so maybe once they're fully staffed the clean factor will improve. I could not finish my coffee...just sort of nursed it along so as to be polite, but it wasn't bad. Very mild and not burnt tasting which is a major plus. This place is obviously a street bicycle riders fun stop so I would definitely recommend it as a hang out place for cyclists.
Great food and atmosphere, and typically service is fast and helpful. This particular time in, I ordered food to go, which typically takes 15 minutes to prepare. The hostess, Yasmine I believe, took an entire line of customer’s orders, before I got back into line to ask for the bag of food that was waiting for me. The first server was great and polite!
It’s a pretty cafe, with nice menu and great coffee drinks to offer. The bacon cheddar scramble is extremely tasty but the Arguello breakfast was just meh , i asked for a side of sausage they said yes, but when I tasted it it tasted like spam ! Salty and tasteless which I was disappointed with. It took Quite a while for the food to arrive more than 20 minutes. My cold coffee was good. They serve freshly squeezed orange juice. Lot of baked goods as well .
We ordered Arguello breakfast and eggs Benedict. Both were delicious. Only downside to the eggs Benedict were the eggs, they were overcooked
I live in the neighborhood and enjoy going to Velo Rouge for a cup of coffee while I do some work. The staff is friendly and I love the atmosphere. It’s a bit pricey and they continue to raise prices every few months it seems (cappucino used to be $4 a year ago, but now it’s $5.75), but it is what it is. My only true complaint is that the poached eggs on the benedict are severely overcooked 9 times out of 10, which defeats the purpose of the dish for me. Would love it if they could fix this!
After a visit to the De Young Museum in Golden Gate Park we were seeking a casual lunch spot. We drove the short distance to Velo Rouge Care close by, just a block off Fulton Street (on McCallister Street). We entered the small-ish shop and read the menu (on the wall). There are painting and pictures of bicycles throughout the cafe. - other patrons were there enjoying a hot beverage or a bite to eat. My wife ordered the Eggs Benedict - traditional but with Acadaco, served with house potatoes (or a green salad). I went with the Coppi Turkey Sandwich. In a short period of time the server brought the food to us as we sat on a bar facing the street. My sandwich was tasty - Turkey with Jack Cheese, Cranberry Sauce and Spinach. It was served with a substantial side salad (which was enough for a meal, honestly). Both of us enjoyed our meal and said we would definitely return here. Prices were reasonable for The City and its location is close enough to Golden Gate Park. We did find parking just across from the Cafe on McCallister. They’re open for breakfast and lunch only (closing at 2 or 3PM).
Great taste and generous portions. The staff wasn’t very friendly though.
Wonderful atmosphere in a great location. Excellent and eclectic breakfast menu. Service is somewhat lacking (I stood for five minutes at the counter without so much a "hello I'll be right with you") and the prices are quite high.

Pretty good Bagel with Lox, I especially loved the accompanying fruit salad, but just wish the bagel was better.
This place gave me a unique look into a history of cycling I was unaware of, pretty crowded but a lot of cyclists ride in this location. Menu was a bit pricey, for the quality. We ordered the Club sandwich the French toast. Club sandwich was dry with soggy tomatoes and the salad on the side was not fresh like damp. The French toast was dry and came with 4 soggy strawberries. Yeah the atmosphere was friendly, but our food was distasteful.

I live 2 blocks away (less than a 5 minute walk) and I never go here. Why? Their coffee is horrendous. In the early days of living near this cafe I tried ordering a latte about 5 separate times, each time it was disgusting. The milk was burnt and ruined. Someone needs to teach every employee at this restaurant how to properly barista. The food is fine, mediocre.
Always understaffed . Granola to yogurt ratio is 10/1
Turns out this place is bicycle-friendly but not people friendly. I moved to the neighborhood almost two months ago. Instead of making coffee at home, I like to get a cup of coffee from either this place or Cinderella Cafe 3-4 days a week. I like these kinds of cafes, small businesses, and supporting them. Today, I came here for breakfast because I worked six days this week, and I thought I deserved a proper breakfast at a lovely place. I ordered Eggs Benedict, and it took some time for the server to understand me, which I totally get. I know it can be challenging because there are thousands of different accents out there. What I can’t understand are the reactions she showed me, saying “what, huh?” When she brought my food to the table, she literally threw the plate onto the table. If you think I’m lying, please check the cameras; it happened between 8:00 am and 8:20 am. What the heck did I do to deserve this service? I was going to ask her if they had free refills, but I didn’t even mention that. There was another table with a couple and a kid, and I saw how she served them—she wasn’t rude to them at all. Why me?? I’ve been wondering if I did something wrong or if there was a miscommunication that caused her behavior, or if that’s just how she is. I even tipped 20% before I saw her attitude. I worked in restaurants for six years, so I know how annoying some customers can be. That’s why I always treat servers with utmost respect. However, if you’re not happy or overwhelmed, I am not the person you should take it out on. I’m not coming back, obviously. I know it’s not really going to hurt the business since I only get coffee twice a week, but it’s a shame that such a beautiful place has staff who are incapable of reflecting that beauty.
Update: I had originally rated this place a solid 3 stars, but after the owner called me an imbecile in their reply, I take back my “friendly staff” comment. Maybe whoever made my burrito made a mistake, but I can only review what my friend and I ate (we both thought it wasn’t good). I hope the owner’s day gets better, that response is …certainly something. Original review: It’s fine, nothing special. Friendly staff but everything tastes like it was bought from Safeway and slapped together with no thought or spices added. The sweet items are definitely way better than the savory ones, if you go here I’d stick to the sweets. The burrito is abysmal for SF standards.
Dude who took my order hates his job or didn't like me, either way the service sucks. Sandwich was ok, definitely not worth the price. The one star is because it's bike themed.
Was Not impressed by one oF your employees! Some Curly hair woman, Asked For a LARGE cup oF Milk, And what does she proceed to do. Bring out a small! Looked at the cup and gave her a weird Look Confronted her about it, saying that I asked For a Large cup. And she came back with Yea okay sure Like it was No big deal that she did that with a smirk on her Face! And I know damn well she heard Me, But yet decided For whatever stupid reason to give Me a smaller cup anyway, And I could swear she did it on purpose trying to be a smart ass about it. Very uncalled For and disrespectful at that! IF this is the kind oF people you got working For you, Might wanna check them out. Great way to Lose business! Might wanna keep that in Mind. That’s Just it! It wasn’t done by Mistake, it was done on purpose, That’s what I’m getting at.
