The salt water horn and egg tart are great ! Will be back ! Take out only
Great little spot for take out dimsum and porridge. Really convenient if your not in the mood to cook. My favorite is the sticky rice and pork wraped in lotus leaf.
A hole in the wall restaurant with many selections of the usual dim sum...but on steroids. They are tasty and we go there every few weeks to buy some to take home for breakfast.
Best BBQ pork buns and pineapple buns in the area. Sticky rice is good too. Fish + ginger congee is very good
If you want traditional Chinese eats fast, this is the best place around. Porridge, dim sum, noodles, sweets, and small savory items to choose from.
Great little Chinese bakery, with a nice variety of steamed and fried food (I've only tried the different boas, meat dumplings, and shrimp balls).
Tasty baos at reasonable price. They also have small selections of dim sum.
Everything I have tried is awesome. Standouts are the Green Onion Bread, Egg Tarts, and any of the seafood dumplings!
This is honestly one of my favorite spots. Food is good & really cheap. I also really like their almond milk tea with pearls. Great place for take out, not really a sit down spot (though there are a couple tables). Can't beat this place for quick, cheap dim sum.
Had the following items: Shrimp dumplings: light and full of shrimp, melted in my mouth, paired perfectly with soy sauce and hot chili Baked BBQ pork buns: tender, with delicious filling Steamed BBQ pork buns: light and fluffy, and with great filling All for under 15. Service was also excellent. Definitely worth more trips
Ok. You should check this place cheap reasonable price for food where can you buy a $10 meal this days and the porridge is great with bbq bun and siomai white bun
Our local go-to for dim sum takeout. Reasonably priced and not overly salty. They have milk tea (HK style) with decent boba for $2!
Love this place cheap yummy fast service kind and the food it so yummy. For $ 34 I got me 2 combo pork porridge siomai buns shrimp siomai noodles porridge buns . Where can you find a cheap place to eat.. try this place I guarantee you'll love it..
You know a place to good if there are: 1. Line out the door 2. Amazing smells 3. Alot of Asians at a Asian restaurant :) Really affordable, tasty food. This place fulfilled my dim sum craving and still had leftovers for dinner. The congee was excellent as well as the shu mai and sticky rice. Overall everything was tasty and cheap!!
This is our favorite place for beef cheng fun. I think they call it beef rice crepe. There's a shrimp version, but the beef version is our favorite. I also like their BBQ pork buns, both the streamed and baked versions are good. The turnip cake is good. If you can afford the calories, try the deep fried sesame balls with sweet bean paste inside. Then try the version that doesn't have the sesame seeds and looks like a golden delicious colored rock, there's a savory pork filling inside...you won't be disappointed.
12/25/2022, egg tart not super sweet, crust flaky, har gow is okay, 9/26/21 not enough meat in Baked BBQ bun. Egg Tart is flavorful and crust is flaky.
First time visiting this place. Simple set up and everything works efficiently for the takeaways. Love the efficiency and convenience
Called and reserved a sweet rice cake (年糕)and daikon cake (蘿蔔糕) for Lunar New Year, plus some dim sum for lunch. The Dim sum is tasted pretty good, price is cheaper than others. The cashier attitude is super good.

Competitive price! Customer is decent will be plus if you can speak Viet or Chinese. Food are tasty and fresh. Price is so decent I could not believe in my eyes
My family's favorite place for dim sum lunch. Lunch combos are cheap for the amount of food you get. Love the noodles & the fish porridge and every dim sum we've tried tasted good. Personal preference, but these are the types of food services I prefer. Get in & get out, no frills, no thrills, just hand me a bag of good food and be on my way.
This place is great for my night shift spouse. I wish it was open earlier than 8am :)
Delicious food!! Definitely a great hole in the wall kind of place. My favorite are the shrimp dumplings and BBQ pork bun. The prices are great too! You can get a whole meal for $8! Will definitely be back :)
Today we found a solid alternative to the usual spot that we would always visit in San Francisco for dim sum. Pros: This place has a menu in English which is a great thing for those of us that can't read Asian languages. Staff that speaks English and are really pleasant. A huge parking lot. A great variety of choices for dumplings and baked goods. Item names, number of pieces included in the order and price. And they give you a receipt. Why I wrote this down, simple, many places you go to in San Francisco will start adding things up in a simple calculator and then add taxes, and whatever other things they want to charge you for "out of thin air", and then they will charge you and you are left sometimes (not always) wondering if they made a mistake and questioning why your bill was less than the last time you came. So having proof of your purchase is nice. The quality of the food is good and the portion sizes I would say a bit larger than other dim sum places, the flavors and textures for the different items we bought were also great. The place inside is modest and the surrounding area perhaps not the best, but in my opinion you won't leave disappointed with the quality of the food, so don't come in expecting servers and white table cloths, etc.

Great authentic Chinese food served at a very reasonable price. Lines can get long if busy and it favors cash but does offer credit at a 3% charge extra
Great and delicious variety of chinese dimsum options, but the youtiao (Chinese yeast breat stick) is a bit salty and not crispy as I would like it to.
Old school authentic chinese dim sum hole in the wall mom & pop take out. Good food, well seasoned, perfectly cooked....soups, appetizers, desserts, boba & tea. Easy location to find. Easy parking & they cater. Over look the grunge & enjoy the delicious food.
Standard HK fast dim sum affair but my favorite thing to get is the wonton noodles. Only $11 it makes for a filling and delicious lunch or breakfast.
Hole-in-the-wall good for ~$6 boxes of frozen wontons take-out, equal in quality to Koi Palace's costing much much more. Their combination lunches with congee is also a good deal - just be careful if you order their more expensive dim sum a la carte. You may also have to selective - their dim sum quality is uneven.
If your looking for dim sum go here. Pork bow steamed/ baked ha gow, shui mai, chow mein lotus balls. Chicken sui mai and more. Made fresh daily. Call a few days ahead for party quantities. 🙂
Of course when I come home to San Jose, I need to get some good food. We went and picked up some food from a dim sum and bakery. Lots of great choices and I was definitely happy and full. I didn't get a picture of the rice porridge with chicken and diced thousand year old duck egg, but that was devoured first and fast. #thisishowichow #dimsum #greenonionbread #friedtaroroll #potstickers #shrimp #shumai
My first time to enter this to go/pick up dim sum place. The atmosphere is not warm or welcoming so you can easily see that decor/ atmosphere is not deemed important. Since it is pickup only, I assume this is why no importance is given to looks as customers will not be eating in. I bought: shrimp fry ball( 2 for $4.50), 3 fried sesame balls($4.25), fried shrimp tofu(3 for $4.50), and a sticky rice lotus leaf($4.50). I immediately ate the 2 shrimp fry balls. It was lukewarm but delicious. I couldn't help myself and ate a fried shrimp tofu: delicious. I will eat the sesame balls, sticky rice and 2 shrimp tofu this evening. You might be daunted by the unattractive look and decor of this business but their strength lies in the taste of their food. I'm not a gourmand in dim sum. I'm more of a plebeian taste and this dim sum tastes good. The presentation and lighting in the display counters could be improved so the customer can clearly see what is available and how it looks. You should come at least once so you can taste for yourself whether the dim sum suits your palate.
Price isn't bad for what you pay for. Big portions. Lots of parking since its situated inside a plaza. They also have specials.

The dim sum was good , I wouldn't say great. I think most of the seasonings were a little on the light side. The Sui Mai was on the small side. Other than a few complaints the food was pretty good. The prices were very reasonable . I would probably visit them again.
One of my go-to places for a quick lunch fix. There are many dishes to choose from (buns, dumplings, porridge, noodles). I usually get a large century egg porridge and a variety of dumplings to share between 2. My boyfriend is a huge fan of bbq pork buns and frequently comes in to buy their 6 pack of buns in the fridge. The price is decent for the amount of food you get, but I will say that it has definitely gone up over the years. It's about $8 for their lunch deal which gets you a small porridge and some assorted dim sum (depending on the combo you choose). Their milk tea isn't the greatest, but it's not bad considering the convenience. They do accept card for orders over something like $10 or $15. There's some places to sit inside, but the tables might be sticky.
For fast simple Cantonese dimsum dishes. Has a larger variety then the original Milpitas location and tastes better for some reason. I guess the cook there is better.

The food is ok but the place REALLY NEEDS A THOROUGH CLEANING. The ladies taking orders are also collecting cash with the same dirty glove. I don't think that's sanitary at all.
This is a sister restaurant of the legendary Mongkok Bakery in SF. However, don't be fooled. The quality is not even close to the real McCoys.
Super convenient. Good food. Of course, it’s not the healthiest cuisine. They’re open pretty much every day forever! Things I like: congee with Chinese doughnut, baked cha siu bow, shu mai, and Don tots. Chow mein tasty but I think no meat. Same with chow fun.
The tongs look very dirty as if they dont deep clean them. Food are decent for the price. Owner/cashier/young/old doesnt matter whom, never smile, never happy. No customer service whatsover. Stir fry rice noodle is very oily.
Super cheap. GREAT place to go for take out. Pretty fast, don't be too discouraged even if the line is out the door, it zips along pretty fast. The dim sum is big, and good. This establishment makes me not want to go to the large sit down dim sum places(like ABC) anymore. - 2 stars for lack of seating, and customer service. They don't really have much space to sit, and they don't give you soy sauce packets if you're buying to go, and even if you ask they give you one packet. I went over the weekend, and got enough dim sum for three people, and I still had plenty of leftovers for $19. In general it's $1.85 for 3 pieces! Personally, I really like the shrimp dumplings. Looking forward to trying more items. People thought your review was:
Egg tart is really good. $1.60 per; buy 5 and get one free. The baked pork bun (Bao) was not good. It was dry and barely any meet inside. Very disappointing. Dim sum is $4 for 3 pieces. Price has gone up but not the quality. Siu mai (pork dumplings) not great and not that big.

Food was tasteless! Way too greasy and barely heated, invest in better food warmers please. The 2 stars is because the milk tea was pretty good.
Ok, after having read all the glowing reviews of this place I thought I'd give it a go. Stopped by and picked up an order of shiu mai, ha goi, fried shrimp dumplings and fried crab dumplings. First off the prices are about the same as Tai Pan, However the portions are questionable. My order of the fried crab dumpling came with 2 pieces. I remember them as 3 piece orders from most other places. I could be wrong... but let's set that aside. Since this is most a take out place the only criteria will be price and taste. So the fried crab dumplings were ok, perhaps with the proper dipping sauce it might even be good. But all they offer was the sweet and sour packets, so I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10. The ha goi was also decent. I ate mine with the accompanying packet of soy and chilli oil. 7 out of 10. The fried shrimp dumplings... Those tasted a bit stale and the crimped edges were unbearable to eat. Beware not to chip your teeth. I'd give it a 3 out of 10. And finally the shiu mai. I usually consider the shiu mai along with the ha goi, duck feet, steamed beef balls, and noodle rolls to be the litmus test in determining how good a dim sum restaurant is. So these 5 items are pretty important. Even though their ha goi is passable, their shiu mai is not. Not by a long shot. In China this place would be out of business inside of a week. No lie. I've eaten dim sum in over 100 restaurants, in over 20 cities, in 2 continents so I know a bit of what I'm talking about. About a 10th of the places are similar to New Hwong Kok in that they depend on largely takeout. And I can honestly say I would not eat here again. I know some here have given New Hwong Kok good or great reviews but.... I simply can't... Best of luck to them and I hope they improve and prosper, but until than....
I hate to see this place go since it's been my go to for years but their quality has gone downhill. I knew there was something off in the taste but I thought maybe it was just a bad day for them. Both me and my friend got food poisining after eating here. It's not worth the risk.
I used to adore this place, but it's quality had tanked over the quarantine to an unrecognizable degree. Every time they'd mess up, I'd let it slide and just hope they wouldn't do it again next time. But the most recent and egregious issue I've now had with New Hwong Kok was when the Tom Chien/Fried Shrimp Balls had sour, rancid meat in it's filling. A single bite into it and you could tell something was horribly wrong. While I'm grateful that they offered a refund on that order, I'm saddened to say that I will likely never return. Unless you have been going to this dim sum spot for years and know what is and isn't good, I cannot wholy and or comofortably reccomend that people come here.
2018-01-07 Very disgusting. I bought $12.30 today but the shrimp dumplings and other steamed dumplings came with smoky taste. I guessed that the chef smoked before he/she made those dumplings by using his/her hands. I threw them away. Won’t go back there anymore. Wasted my money on those tasteless, unhealthy, and non-quality food.
I bought yellow-egg noodle for togo, the woman/cashier packs it then the kitchen helper guy tries to disguise my eyes by showing other dimsums . When I turn to the cashier I pay and take the noodle box home. At home I open it and so surprised with shocked that is old near rotten broken white rice noodle while that day there is no white rice noodle in their tray, looks like white rice noodle left over. That means the owner/cashier already had another throw away noodle food boxed under the cashier counter and ready to swap ịt if customers don't follow her hands for what she is doing. I did not want to come back to argue with her as her harsh voice plus rotten languages to customers as usual. I never come back even as this place they keep changing business name as new-owner ship sign put on its front door wall once in a while of every 2 or 3 or 4 years but same owner from the mother to her daughter. Typical way to cheat by Chinese business owner here and eaters have to beware of this. Wish there is - (minus) -5 stars so I can click for this review
Don’t buy from this store not fresh reheat and burn. BBQ pork have hole on it. I will not go buy any more.

Not good, the shrimp crepe had a weird smell. I think it just sat there for a while. The chive dumpling just wasn't really good. it was more shrimpy than chivey, haha. I've had better and was disappointed, was really hoping this was a hit.
