Avis sur Sagar Sweets San Jose
In 1983 or so, this was one of few Indian restaurants in the area, operating under a different name, and the curmudgeon you encounter there was still a young man! My first visit to this establishment was over 40 years ago, where I had my very veg thali. Since then, I've spent something like 150 days across 10 states, eating meals ranging from 40 Rs. to 4000 Rs., and I still look forward to the treats I buy at Sagar Sweets!
You must try the fresh samosas, which are crisp and flavorful. The shop also offers a wide variety of sweets, all at reasonable prices. The owner is warm, humble, and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. The snacks and Jalebi are fresh and delicious.
Fantastic service. Ordered Samosas and gave us a big bowl of sweets to snack on while we wait. Everything was delicious. Very friendly. When we were done eatting he gave us Mango Lassies and continued to top off our drinks throughout the meal.
One of the best places in Bay Area. Uncle Ji is sweetest. I understand sometimes he gets frustrated but he requests customers to have patience. Just be nice to him & he will be extremely nicer back to you. I’m a regular visitor here & must try his fresh Jalebi in mornings. Give him a call & heads up; he will make fresh food for you & he also greet nice people to him with complimentary Tea & Snacks always.
This place serves best Samosas ever. Call ahed if you don’t want to wait cause they make the food when you order. Wide variety of sweets, snacks. Reasonable prices makes it best place for bulk ordering.
If you are looking for a place with excellent/authentic Indian food, affordable prices (hello inflation), large portions, and don't mind taking your food to the nearest park or home. This is the place for you! A little hidden gem where you have to talk on the phone, ask for w'hat you most want, pick up your food, and by the way, take the sweets that you most want to have a final sweet (the place has a variety of typical sweets where you can choose a bit of everything). I know the photos don't do the food much justice, but I was hungry and impatient to try the food. Yesterday I had: - Aloo Ticki (spiced, crisp potato patties. Topped with mint and tamarind sauce, onions, and cilantro). - Gobi Masala (cauliflower coated in a masala made with cumin, fennel, ginger, garlic, coriander and secret seasoning. Garnished with cilantro). - Lamb Biryani
Came here half an hour before closing tonight. I got the samosa chaat and a pound of mixed mithai (sweets). The samosas are huge! They're some of the biggest samosas I've seen at a restaurant in a while considering the size everywhere seems to be getting smaller. The sholay were fresh and flavorful. The chutneys on the chaat were yummy as well. This samosa chaat is probably the best that I've had this year. The brown barfi looking pieces were delicious. The mango barfi was decent but the gulab jamuns (brown balls with the coconut) were not cooked thoroughly because all the middles were a bit hard. The service was friendly and the inside looked clean. They've done a good job about separating the register area and by providing hand sanitizer by the door. I'll definitely return!
Best sweets and samosa in the Bay Area… Inlove with the vibe that uncle gives!!!!! Must visit spot as it’s open for 45+ years and is a historic spot in Bay Area!!!
Had Samosa chat and veg korma… great food and uncle is very friendly….!!! Try the food and talk to uncle… you will feel like home..!!!
Fellow Indians, In case you're feeling homesick, do yourself a favor and come here for the chats and the Jalebis. P.S- probably the best mango lassi in the Bay area!

Best Samosas and Jalebi! Just make sure you call in advance for order. We always call for a pick up Samosa and uncle prefers it that way. Freshly fried samosa with raw papaya and tamarind-Date Chutney.
I have eaten at a lot of Indian places and this by far is the best. The owner is super nice. The food has just the right amount of spice and flavor is absolutely amazing. He even gave me a few pieces of some sweets and those were amazing. I have found my new favorite Indian spot. Highly recommend it. Reasonable prices also
Sagar Sweet Store is a great place for Indian sweets and snacks. Their sweets are the best, and every bite is full of flavor. The samosas are crispy and packed with delicious spiced potatoes. The chai is also amazing—rich and aromatic, it goes perfectly with their snacks. Uncle, the owner, is a really nice man. He welcomes everyone and makes sure you have a good experience. If you're in the area, definitely check out Sagar Sweet Store. You won't regret it! Call Uncle before arriving and inform him you'll be there, he will make sure your food is ready by the time you arrive.
Great sweets at a great price! The owners are also nice
Came to pick up samosa order placed by my sister. While picking up, choose to get jalebi also. Delicious

The somosas and service were great. You really have to call in up front for the somosas as he only makes them fresh. These are times that he is going to give you a few hrs time frame for them. Street parking only which can be an issue at times. Place takes major credit cards and is on door dash also.

Walking into this restaurant feels like stepping into a time machine that drops you off in a Punjabi sweet shop from the 60s and 70s. The owner and his son seem like they’ve been transported straight from that era too—complete with the charm (or lack thereof) of a government office canteen. Their customer service style? Let’s just say they have the enthusiasm of a clerk on his fifth chai break—zero interest in you, but 100% commitment to reminding you that you have no other options. But hey, if you’re up for some entertainment and have plenty of time, this place is a gem. The food is good, I’ll give them that. They made pakoras and samosas fresh, which took a cool 30 minutes, but when they finally arrived, they were perfection. So, if you have an appetite for humor with a side of pakoras and patience, this place is worth the visit!

Sagar sweets is my goto place for Samosas and Ghee Jalebis. My last 2 experiences here though have been poor. The Samosas were burnt and crumbly. The owner also has an attitude. I called 15 mins ahead and upon reaching to pick-up.. I was told 15 mins are not enough for the oil to heat up and I will need to wait ....which i did only to find crumbly and burnt Samosas 😀

Food seems good, but the service ruins it. The owner was a bit condescending, and the worker was even worse. The worker and owner seemed very irritable for some reason while talking. After asking about the Samosas, the worker got mad and insulted us. We ended up just leaving. Not good at all. I was hoping for a good first-time experience since I saw a lot of good reviews, but it was not welcoming at all. In India, there is such hospitality, but these guys do not embody that at all. If they were having a bad day at home, that is fine, but they should keep it separate from business as it isn't professional.
Horrible customer service, owner was super rude to answer any questions. He seemed like in a bad mood and grumpy for no reason. Will not recommend and will not be back
Called for an inquiry. Displayed such rude behavior over the phone. Unprofessional and disrespectful! Will never call back.
The opening hours are wrong. The owner wasn’t friendly and rude. I don’t know what happened. I don’t want to go there again. It seems to be a homemade place and good food. However the owner wasn’t friendly and communicated.
This is the worst shop ever and for more than food the old man there has 0 manners and yells at his customers for simple questions. Wish there were more ways to make this review more loud and public. We are going to try our best to circulate this over to our circle to make sure no one goes there.
