Glad to be back to this place! It used to be my favorite when I policed in Fremont. The food is still good. Service is ok. Kinda easy tip based earning for the servers compare to what they have to do for us, but I tipped 20% anyway. Again, glad to be back!
Fun, Fun, Fun! A great experience. We ‘accidentally’ appeared at Backyard Bayou on Valentine’s Day, without a reservation. There was quite a wait but my Love found 2 seats at the bar and we were set. The Bartender was professional and Fun. The drinks were Awesome. The Food was abundant and delicious.
This was my first time and I didn’t know what to expect but I absolutely enjoyed myself! The food was amazing!!! I ordered the King Crab legs with corn, potatoes, and sausage (hot link) back-yard style medium heat with the Lobster Mac and Cheese on the side. The flavor was great, and the food was HOT when it came out! The service was excellent and this place is now one of my top 5 places to eat! I will be back soon!!!
If someone had told me before I left Texas last month for a work trip that I would find good Cajun food in Union City California, I would not have believed them. Not only was the food good, it was excellent. A dining gem in what has been a mostly mediocre series of restaurants I have eaten at since I have been here. PoBoy and sweet potato fries were perfect as were the beignets. Thank all for the best restaurant I have eaten at on the west coast.
This was my first time eating at a place like this, and the experience was amazing. When we first came in, we weren’t really sure how everything worked. I had ordered sausages from the menu, thinking they would come on the side, but later realized they were already mixed into the bag of food we were eating. I asked our server, Ivan, if there was any way to get something else instead, and he immediately offered to bring us potatoes. I also asked if I could add shrimp and told him I’d pay for it. To my surprise, he brought both the shrimp and potatoes on the house. That gesture really stood out to me. Ivan was an outstanding server—very friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The whole staff showed great hospitality, and the environment was really nice. Overall, it was a great experience. Fantastic food, excellent service, and a place I’d definitely recommend.
Backyard Bayou is a flavor explosion! 🦐🌽 I've been a loyal customer for years, and the flavors always leave my taste buds dancing. My go-to combo of calamari, shrimp, rice, corn, and potatoes never disappoints. 🍤🍚 Today, we ventured into clams and oysters territory—delicious! Situated conveniently by the movie theatre, this spot stands out among other nearby restaurants. 📍 Despite the competition, Backyard Bayou remains my ultimate go-to when I’m in Union City. 👍
We felt like having some southern food today and so we came across the backyard bayou. We were greeted by a really nice young gentleman and engaged in really nice conversation. He gave us a lot of time and suggestions of what we can order. It was my cousin's first time here. So I want to make sure she had a good experience. It's always fun when you get a bib and some gloves right? We ordered a one pound of shrimp, headless, and one pound of blue 🦀 We tried their house seasoning, which was a little bit of Louisiana flavor and it was delicious. We also try the crab with the lemon pepper sauce, which was also delicious. The potatoes, the sausage was on point. Wasn't a big fan of the corn not gonna like it wasn't the best, I can tell it was a frozen corn. So I'll probably skip out on the core next time, but I'll probably be back. Definitely enjoyed my time.
Great selection, fast and friendly service, good prices, tasty and spicy selections of seafood and po boy sandwiches. Asked about the offer posted on Gmaps for $20 off of drinks with a $100 purchase, was told it was only good at the other branch. A bit confusing, no limitations on the coupon itself.
I walked in expecting just another seafood spot, but I was pleasantly surprised! The warm, family-friendly atmosphere created by a wonderful host and a lively bartender made my visit memorable. I indulged in a fantastic seafood mix with shrimp, mussels, potatoes, and corn, all generously coated in house sauce. Each bite was a delight—the sausage was flavorful, the potatoes perfectly seasoned, and the corn was soft and sweet. The shrimp was abundant and delicious, and those mussels? Simply irresistible! What a great experience!
Food was good but pricey for the offering. I was surprised when our dine in meals arrived in to go boxes. He was also an additional $4 for extra backyard sauce!!!??? It was yummy, but underwhelming dine in experience for the cost. A few tweaks in presentation and offering would make it more appealing.... ie no alcohol beverage options, non-discouraging extras, plateware.... Not sure I'd return.
The backyard bayou is one my favorite places to eat at to grab seafood boils , wings and crab fries. I have been eating here for some years now. Typically they are busy on the weekends. I always go to the movies at Century 25 ,then go get food after. The restaurant has a good vibe and the customer service is good ,I have no complaints 👌🏾. The food is always fresh and served hot! Which I love. The food also has good flavor and seasoning yum! They have a bar inside and they serve good drinks as well. So if you want some good seafood, bomb crab fries , good drink and wings this is the place to go !!
Brought my cousin here for a birthday lunch and the experience was okay. The atmosphere is a little off as far as lighting and coolness. We sat near the entrance and to the right of us next to the bar is an area that just looks herrondous. It's a pile of old furniture thrown to the side (extremely tacky) 👎🏽. Food wise, the wings (dry rub) were actually good and calamari. The fries seem over cooked, hard in texture. The crab fries were good and edible because of the sauce and moisture from the crab topping. My crab roll was tasteless. Like I took one bite and gave it to my lunch date to take home my lunch. It had no flavor what so ever. The server said their crab is just mixed with mayo (a Japanese brand). There was no butter or garlic or anything to make this expensive crab roll worth a bite. Would I ever come back or recommend this place?... NO‼️
The lemon pepper was very salty, normally I eat with a lot of salt but those shrimps are extremely salty to the point of being inedible. I called back to the restaurant because my order was online pick up and they offer me only 15% refund or return to the restaurant and change my order (which would have been a 40 minute trip back and forth). Thinking whether or not if I will return to this restaurant.
My alligator was so salty and grissely that I had to force myself to give the next bite a fair chance that it was just that last bite that was so salty and chewy. My sause didn't help even though I paid 4 dollars for it. And my Cajon fries were so salty I could actually feel my blood pressure top out. MY GUMBO,SAVED MY LIFE. As it was good but not exceptional. The paper straw and my water were my best review. AND plenty of napkins to spit my unpalatable food into. MY ORDER WAS ,Gumbo, GRilled alligator and Cajon Fries, Cajon chicken wings, medium spice, and jumbelia. Cost was 76$ tip was 18%as that was the lowest option ,I had no cash at the time for a 10 dollar tip witch was more than the server deserved.
Not at all what I expected. Very expensive and flavorless. We ordered mac and cheese lobster over $30 ,catfish basket some of the piece were just batter. Self choice mussels, shrimp (overcooked), clams over $50, and collard greens swimming in a flavorless broth. Customer service was absent as they were young adults paying around. Would not recommended.
