For a tourist like me, it is an exceptional experience. Cool, relaxed people having a good time without the hustle of looking "good". Nice and polite service. Affordable prices. A unique and authentic American bar.
Great place to bring your friends or family in a Monday night. Get steak dinner or Salmon and nice crowd and dancing. Relaxing not to crowded . Great little local place. Supports Our Veteran. Staff is super nice and accommodating. Chef makes amazing fresh hot food. 10 Stars!!!?
Old watering hole from the 80's when i was in the USMC. Came to our 40th reunion and stopped in to wet our whistle and reminiscing about old times. Beer is cold whisky is poured. What else can you say except drink up and have fun.
Thursday is a big h-down barn dance with the quintessential gentlemen cowboys ready to dance with you. If you're unfamiliar with the Two Step they will teach you. We had so much fun!!
Great tacos and cheap drinks. You cannot beat it. It's a dove bar but with amazing food.
This place is awesome, an authentic cowboy style bar that takes you back to a different era of life!! The staff was friendly and fun, great selection, all sorts of memorabilia, funny pictures and tons to look at while you enjoy a cold one!! Cal is a great guy and I’m glad I was able to meet him in his bar! Next time you’re in San Juan Capistrano, check out the Swallow’s Inn!!
Stopped in randomly because we heard country music 🎶 great vibe.casual.interesting visuals....don't forget to sign your bra and leave it behind! Also for the smokers there's an old school cigarette machine and outdoor patio to actually smoke
What a great place to hang on a Saturday afternoon. I’ve been lucky enough to play there with the band Tightrope over the weekend. But on the stage or in the floor, the drinks are good and the crowd is fun.
Very fun bar with live band. Closest to country saloon bar in SoCal. Lots of interesting decorations hanging from the ceiling. Good to dance and loud singing.
This is on the 'must see' list for friends/family visiting from out of town. 😊 So much history within the building and the ever-famous ceiling covered in bras. 🤣 Everyone has loved the visit and talked about it for weeks after.

A great cowboy dive bar! Its been in SJC for years! Local party spot mostly mature folks who still like to kick it up and country dance. A few 30yo’s! Great bands! Generous pours! Come On Down!! Security are young Marines 😉🥰 and the Manager was a Gunny 😎
Went here for the Marines 250th Bday. Outstanding place to be. Great food, good times, fantastic people, awesome history. Met the owner, Ret. U.S. Marine, phenomenal gentleman. Look forward to going back just for the hell of it. RETREAT HELL!
This place is legendary, what a vibe. This is the dive bar we all need in our lives. Bartender poured them heavy which is appreciated and great prices. We even bought some hats because they were so dope. Band was awesome and just made for a great ending to our night. Do it, go… I dare you not to have a good time! :)
They have food from outside vendor after 2pm. You can order food from Restaurant across the street and go pick up. This place is a Dive bar. Great drinks and bands.
This place is a favorite among old-school folks. The people are super friendly and always ready to give advice. The food is made with Mexican flavors and is really well-prepared. They have a full bar and plenty of security guards to keep things safe, even if there are some rowdy patrons. It’s a great place to meet new people and enjoy some live music and dancing every night. It’s like a piece of American South tradition.

Best dive country bar in town! cheap drinks, fun vibe, always have bands
The good old days 1999 - 2004 on Sundays Tiny would serve up some great orange yum yums(screwdrivers made you perfection)! Great place to hang out and the crowd was intermixed with the rich folk coming over the hill with the locals! Had great times with a lot of good people! God Bless Joey Cumo!
This is thee dive bar in San Juan Cap, and is a stark contrast to the rest of the more upscale watering holes in this part of town. This is where you find all the Harleys in the parking lot. But we arrived here by rail. This is just a skip from the train station. Enjoy the decor indoors, which largely consists of used ladies undergarments, or soak in some of the foul mouthed humor from fellow seedy types on the patio. Good times.
Went on a Sunday afternoon, following a band I like. There aren’t enough counter bars, or places with a true dance floor - so points there. Their tap selection was good, and a beer was $8. It was a little too small, incredibly loud, crowded, the bar tender was rude to my friend, and the energy was chaotic. The vibe was “spring break, but 30 years later.” The clientele was extremely irritating, with drunks crashing into people in the dance floor and trying to flaunt… something? Pros: country, dance floor, live music, good beer, dancers

We have been going to The Swallows Inn for many years. We take the train and it’s a whole day thing. This last Saturday we were treated very rudely by manager Clayton ( that’s the name that was on his shirt) We arrived a little after 10:00 so we could get a large table for our group. The band wasn’t going to play until 2:00, but our group needs to be able to sit, so we arrived early. We sat at two tables that were on the side where the restrooms are. There were stools on both sides of the tables. We moved the tables together to accommodate our group. When the so called manager and security came in around1:30 or so, we were told we could sit against the wall and had to move the table back t the way we found them. So we did just that. Then the jerk of a wanna be security kid came over and told us to do as we were told. I went to the bar and encountered “Clayton” who has no customer service skills whatsoever. I explained that we had been there since 10ish and nobody said anything to us about the way we were sitting at the table. He said he didn’t care, we needed to put the tables against he wall and only 3 stools to the table. So where were we all supposed to sit????? He was just a total jerk!!! We ended up staying for the band and had a great time, but I will be very recluctant to go again. They have no ADA seating as he told me. 4 out of the 8 of us are handicapped. He was more worried about us taking up space on the dance floor than working with us to accommodate everyone.

Presented our ID’s to two different bouncers, both refused to let us in or check with managers about our IDs, they could not provide a valid reason as why we were denied other than “we were out of state” and other made up excuses such as missing security features. They asked for our passports to prove it, but since we were traveling domestically we did not have access to them and would not accept photos. I understand that the bouncers do not want to lose their jobs, but coming up with multiple false excuses on the spot does not seem professional in any sense.
Refused to serve because they get to tell if an ID is real I guess they’ve never seen a REAL ID first bar I’ve been rejected from will never recommend nor return

Unfortunate experience, zero wow factor. Upon entering, I was greeted with "welcome, we don't allow you to bring your water in. I wanted to spend my money there however, I was not impressed with that comment and went elsewhere. I do not recommend this place due to this experience.
