Avis sur Sean Patrick's San Marcos
The head bartender was great! We got to try a few beers before purchase. His beer recommendations were on point. One of their brewers came out and sat by us at the bar. Had a nice conversation about their brewing process. We didn't get food, but it looked pretty darn good.
If you want to experience a bit of Irish taste my recommendation is Sean Patrick's. A good and varied menu and a pub house atmosphere very much like what I experienced on my visit to Ireland. Closer than any of the other Irish based restaurants I have sampled stateside. It is a favorite of my daughter and family so we go on special occasion. Because of the location parking can be a thing but I think it adds to the hometown feel. Prices are good and their menu is varied. Clean, attentive wait staff - without hovering.
Didn’t eat here but had some drinks before the ASU-Texas St game. Bartenders and service were great. Good atmosphere
my two favorite menu items: (and I think this place has the worlds best chicken pot pie) & the shepherds pie. I'm not a college kid but the staff are always incredibly friendly to me and it's just a great vibe. There is a lot of history in the old building. The other day I got three of the pot pies carry out and put two in the freezer and aye one right away - and can I also suggest just try the green beans you won't believe the the incredible flavor
Traveling through, so we came downtown. Great in house craft beer, Irish eggrolls, Irish Boxty was all delish! Definitely will return when traveling. Everything seemed made on site and not typical restaurant food. Dog friendly patio as well! Downtown also has lots of great shops to offer.
🤩 My new favorite pub 🥰 The Irish egg rolls are a must try if you’re any part Irish 😄 They built the ideal Guinness, food was 5-stars, people working there were kind and deliberate in their efforts, the music and games in the atmosphere were just right. Overall, best American Irish pub I’ve experienced yet! I am ready to return and try the next item in their extensive menu. The Sheppard Pie was delicious, the Irish Eggrolls were my favorite, the fried ravioli was tasty….Oh and there is soo much more. I highly recommend eating at Sean Patrick’s in San Marcos, TX!
My girlfriend and I love Sean Patrick's, its our favorite restaurant in San Marcos and it makes any random day a special occasion whenever we go! The staff has been seriously fantastic every visit! They are some really friendly people and the environment is a nice cool place, I highly recommend checking it out!
The food was great! The atmosphere and service is awesome. They customized my margarita like I liked it no problem. The Brad pudding with ice cream is tge best I've ever had. They grow their own fresh mint and other herbs. Great views, in the heart of San Marcos Texas. And they have happy hour and live music on certain evenings.
I got an Irish Boxty and my friend got a Beef and Cabbage, both were phenomenal. The corned beef was perfectly tender and tasty, definitely the best I’ve ever had. Also had a nice selection of quality beer, was not disappointed. This is place is now one of our local go-tos, will come often.
We picked our seats and were given our beers quickly. The waiter was nice and helpful. The food (I got fish and chips & my dad got their philly) was great and the portions were big. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was awesome. Overall, a great bar with genuinely great bar food. Would go again for sure.
The bartenders Lilly and Aaron were great helped me out all night throughout the fight night! Highly recommend watching your ppvs here
We had lunch today on the patio at Sean Patrick’s. It was wonderful. Our server was a young man named Kellen, who was the BEST!! He rushed our food out to us because we were at a retreat and had less than an hour for lunch. We had wings, fried pickles and chips - everything was delicious. I haven’t had a server as efficient, kind and accommodating as Kellen anywhere!! He even offered to send us away with cold drinks to go....outstanding!!
Found this place while a my group and I were strolling about. Thw food was fresh and delicious I have to bangers and mash and my hubs had the fish and chips. The sausage I had was delicious but a little greasy, but the salad that comes with it helped cut through it nicely. The mashed potatos were nice and peppery, and the fries were tasted homeade! My hubby also really liked them imported beer.
Nice environment. Bartender was fast and polite. Menu had a wide range of foods. I would say something for everyone. The prices were also not too bad either
Stopped in for drinks, kitchen was closed for repairs. Good well poured Guinness, excellent beer selection. Will be back in a few days for the food. Excellent atmosphere.
Very good food, I order off the "traditional" part of the menu which is Irish/Texan dinner food. Beautiful decor/vintage interior that used to be a grocery store in the 1800s. No table service, you order at the bar. Not enough menus to go around. I also happened to go once on football night so it was an extremely loud sports bar then.
Staff friendly, band was great and food was bomb! My mom and I had the double bacon burger and corned beef and cabbage and it was so good we took our family there for lunch the next day and ordered the exact same thing. Everyone’s food around me looks amazing. Bartender was patient and knowledgable with the craft beers and brought me back three samples of something she thought I would like and that is greatly appreciated as far as customer service at a bar! Also best corned beef and cabbage I’ve had anywhere ever.
My wife and I stopped here for breakfast before heading back to Houston. This place had a great atmosphere, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. We got prompt service and our food arrived promptly. The food was great, and the pancakes were some of the best we have had. I like lots of butter on my pancakes, so we asked the waitress for some extra butter. She had also had to round up some more sugar and creamer for our coffee’s. We are not normally messy people, but we had spilled both sugar and creamer and made a mess. The waitress was very pleasant, patient and friendly with us. Overall it was a very pleasant visit.
We came from San Antonio to visit because we read about the Irish food. The food was amazing! The beer was also amazing! My wallet fell out of my pocket so we had to drive all the way back the next day to get it so we decided to eat again since we were already there. We had the chili cheese fries and omg their chili is the best we have ever had. Most of the time you go to a bar and expect some easy, quick, and unremarkable food for drunk people who aren't that picky. Our experience here is the total opposite of that. Everything was phenomenal. I will make the trip in the future just to eat here.
The food is always great, the servers do their job to the highest quality. The manager that oversees everything is an awesome person. This place also hosts live wrestling events.
This place is awesome! The staff is top notch, super attendant, and fun. The burgers are 10/10 hands down super delicious! Great drink and food options. Definitely making this a must visit next time we're in town.
Saturday 7/17/21 11 am Was going to eat and have a couple beers at the Tap Room but Did not realize they didn't open until 1130. So we went here thinking we can have a beer and then walk up the street to eat. My wife had the club and I had the habanero fish tacos. The guy at the bar was phenomenal and we decided to stay and eat. Good choice everything was wonderful. It's so refreshing to see a person behind the bar with a good attitude. He absolutely made our trip from San Antonio worth it.
Food was great. This was my mom's first time and she said the beer was pretty good, and her Shepard's pie was well done. The toddler liked their big classic cut fries and the fact that they gave her more crayons than hands. I had the pulled pork sliders and not to sure what is Irish about that, but pub grub is always good.
Great atmosphere and bartenders. The fish in the fish and chips is really good but the chips are just American style, mediocre fries, not the chips you'd find in Ireland or Britain.
First time visiting with my boyfriend and it was AMAZING. They have daily specials on drinks and appetizers and together with drinks, app, food it was $60 with tip. We tried the pretzel with queso and the Guinness BBQ burger w the truffle fries. AMAZING!!! Must stop spot on the square. Bartenders are friendly and fast!
I really like the food here. This is one of my favorite restaurants in San Marcos. My favorite dishes are the Chicken Pot Pie and the Shephard's Pie. The patio is dog friendly, and on my most recent visit, I brought my puppy, Bogart. The waitress brought out a bowl with fresh water for him, which was nice. I look forward to my next visit.
I was craving fish and chips, so I tried Sean Patricks for the first time today. OMG, soooo good. My food arrived piping hot, just the way I like it. The meal was exactly what I was expecting. Flakey, delicious fish, with a light breading. The chips were seasoned perfectly. The staff was helpful and friendly. I will definitely be retuning. Can't wait to try more of their dishes.
Stopped in San Marcos on the way north to Austin from New Braunfels. According to Google maps, this place has the best burgers in town. Turns out the DeLuxe Nachos are amazing. And there's a few beer on tap.. The "Austin Amber" red ale from Independence Brewery is delicious. My son liked the Cherry Lime Seltzer. Nice selection.
Okay so things have changed back to the way they were. Great place to go eat, great food, great customer service. The manager that was rude was downgraded to a bartender. The Manager and waitress who brought me back was Keri and Matthew (both are gone now) Brittany is The Manager now and she is the best 🤘🤘 12/24 Food is Still Great, Fish and Chips were always good then they started to become Salty but Now they're Great... Guinness is still Amazing Here... 6/25 food is still great. Fish and chips are perfect! Guinness the only place to get it in San Marcos is here at Sean P's... It is 9/27/25 at 6:01 PM I'm here now . . Still Great.. Quick Question To The Owner.... If I come in here and Order a Pint, what am I supposed to be served?
Great place for a drink and a bite to eat. Service is great. Prices are reasonable. Worth checking out.
Two words. Blackjack quesadilla. Its my go to everytime I go there. The people and the energy is great.
We enjoyed our lunch and drinks. Freshly prepared food. Great drinks We will be back.
Great local bar, the Guinness Fish and chips are great! The service is great, fast and courteous. The bartenders are on top of it, even when they were busy, they took care of me. A friendly neighborhood bar with a great atmosphere and great food. I love this place. Usually has easy parking, sometimes close to the door. Pool table, shuffleboard, I thought I saw a Dart board and lla great selection of local and imported beer. But most of all friendly service and comfort food. Come sit at the bar and say, Hi.
Oh my goodness. This place was absolutely delicious. 10/10. The bartender was super friendly and very knowledgeable. I'm not a big beer person but he let me try quite a few samples until I found something I loved. It was a cider so still not a "real" beer. But I was happy with it! Our food came out so stinking good. Of course we had to get fish and chips and the fish was so flakey and the tartar sauce was fresh and tangy. We also got the Irish boxty which was like a corned beef potato crepe. It sounds a little different but wow was it good! I would definitely recommend it! They also have plenty of tvs for all the games and my husband said he's definitely going back next guys night
I think it is very unusual for a bar like this to have food that is so exquisite. I’m not talking about uptight, white tablecloth, fine dining exquisite. I’m talking the flavor profile of this comfort food is just insanely good and you have to try it. Just got the bangers and mash and it was so good!!!
Erin was the best. On point and professional. She really knew her beers and hooked it up. Great service ! Go see her you won’t regret it !
I went there this morning with my family to watch football. The food was all VERY good, the Bloody Mary’s were great, and the staff is awesome. There was a mistake with my order and they were really awesome about fixing it. I ended up getting my food to go and HOLY CRAP the chicken fajita tacos are soooo good lol. Even hours later. I’ll be back this place is really cool. Thank you to the ladies who were working this morning. Yall are a great team!
Sean Patricks is a true Irish pub experience with plenty of character. I had the Irish Boxty while my wife ordered the Fish and Chips — both were excellent, but the Boxty really stood out as something special. The menu pairs perfectly with their huge drink selection, which includes a ton of beers on draft as well as cocktails. Ordering at the bar helps keep things moving, and our food came out hot and fresh without a long wait. The atmosphere definitely leans into the Irish pub vibe — grungy, sticky floors and all — which adds to its authenticity. We sat outside on the patio, which offered plenty of seating and a nice change of pace. Pricing was fair for the quality, and overall it’s a spot we’ll return to. I’d recommend Sean Patricks to anyone who enjoys the classic Irish pub feel, whether you’re there for a hearty meal, a wide beer selection, or just the laid-back vibe.
I have come to Sean Patrick's since it opened in 2003/2004 when I turned 21 for over 20 years. It's still here and I'm still above grass, both of those are great. Massive selection of beers 🍻 but Guinness is still my favorite here. A "Guinea" off the spout please!! Was my punchline 20 years ago. Full menu of great food to soak up your Irish drinking tank when you're ready to eat. I typically get the Corned Beef and Cabbage, but you do you 🙃
Planned on hitting another restaurant/ bar while in town, but the nostalgia of the place lured us in...for 1 beer. Katy let us know the hand made quality of the Irish cuisine was worth the stay, & hands down she was right!!!! The staff was beyond amazing, especially Katy! The craft beer menu, tantalizing. And if you're not in to craft beer, you can get domestics. All around, hidden gem. We will definitely be back.
Wow! Dropped in this place on a spur of the moment and glad we did. They have amazing fish and chips, and I must mention, phenomenal drinks (full bar and a large selection of craft beers). They also have two pool tables, an old school arcade and a shuffleboard table. Just so you know, you order at the bar, they give you a number. and you pick whatever table you want. The waitress/waiter brings your food when ready. If you are looking to hang out for few hours with your family and/or friends, check this place out. You won't be disappointed!
Don't let the stars fool you, let me explain. The food here is consistently amazing. Absolutely wonderful. The service/atmosphere is rated as such because it is still a bar downtown in San Marcos and there are times where they're just simply too busy for the amount of staff present. It's not a fancy place or an upscale place, so higher stars would be really misleading. Despite that, if I'm in San Marcos, I'm eating here every time. The Beef on Weck, Fish n Chips, and Philly Baked Potato are all top notch choices.
I love the atmosphere and the live music playing helped with that as well. Several ladies helped us out with friendly faces and smiles. Food presentation was fantastic. My only concern was th he truffel fries i received were a bit salty and my daughters parm chicken sandwich, the marinera was not great. Ketchup fixed my fries, removing side fixed the sandwich. That did not take away from the experience for us. Burger btw was very juicy and filling.
Great food and great bar staff. I've not been the about pub food before, but I've got to tell you, Sean Patrick's is the best! I had the chicken strips. You ask, "What can be great about chicken strips?" Well I'll tell you, these were hand drenched and seasoned perfectly, served piping hot with a huge bed of fresh, homemade fries. I loved it!. The bartender was knowledgeable about her craft beers, and super helpful. I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant evening. I'll definitely be returning. Thanks!
This place is known for burgers (which are excellent), but my favorite thing to get here is brunch! Affordable, absolutely delicious, and with good service (and the ability to get any of their incredible number of home brews on tap, even first thing in the morning--I don't drink, but people I take here always enjoy that!). Even something as simple as their pancakes are excellent and feel very well worth it, even stacked against the other excellent options on the brunch menu. The atmosphere is cool and timeless, making it easy to bring anyone here without feeling out of place like many other college hangouts. One word of warning though; the women's restroom stalls are VERY tiny! I'm 4'9" and 90lbs and my knees still nearly touched the door of the stall. The theming in there is awesome, though! And you pass all the brewing on the way there--fantastic visuals!
One of my favorite restaurants in San Marvelous! Great service and great food. They have a really unique Tex Mex Irish style menu with ample Paleo & gluten free options! They offer an amazing assortment of drinks on tap and have a large bar, for those looking to enjoy an alcoholic beverage. Also, it's dog friendly, which is a rare occurrence in this town provided the absurd local policy that many food and beverage establishments + citizens are not pleased with. 100% A+ you can't go wrong with this lovely restaurant and bar :D
My first experience was awesome, even though they were busy we still got our food and drinks super quick, and the waitress was so nice and funny that I decided to take my family here while they were visiting. On this night our waitress Courtney had to be under the influence, she made little sense while talking to us and even started arguing over menu items. I was so humiliated. I still give it four stars because my first experience and the manager were great.
I’m not Joe, I’m Sarah and I went specifically because I had the black and bleu burger before which was amazing. This round it didn’t even have the onion ring on it that it usually does. And I asked the bartender for a pickle on the side and we ended up with a plate of fried pickles lol Always feels like a hit or miss.
Great place, had the 512 IPA draft and the Texan burger. Both were great, the bun was unreal soft and tasty. The music was good. Ozzy in a college town. Crowd was a mix of college and older. Bartender was really nice and attentive. Loved it.
I come regularly for good food and trivia night, Wednesday nights. My partner and I love coming, and trivia night with Austin is always so well organized! Never had the same trivia set twice, and it’s obvious he puts a lot of work into it.
I tell you. It's a nice place to party. We went early to watch a game. Hard to give it a 5 when there was 1 exceptional lady working her tail off. Serving drinks and food for the entire place. Maybe next time it's better.
We stopped in on our way down on a mini vacation from Dallas area. Overall this bar/restaurant was good, but it's a very light-touch experience. If that's your thing, awesome! You order your food & pay for it at the bar tap, then get a number for someone to deliver your food. Once that person drops off your food, that's about it. We didn't order any alcohol, but my assumption is you just go back up to the bar to order additional drinks after the first one. It's a sports bar atmosphere, which is totally fine, but my husband and I had a really hard time hearing each other over the TVs with various sports games on. The food was good - he got a club sandwich and I got the reuben - but not the best we've ever had. Not bad at all, but not exceptional. Bar food, which is totally fine for the type of place we were in. Again, overall it seems like a great place to hang out if you enjoy that atmosphere, but if you're on a date or looking for something a little quieter and more low key, this might not be for you. I will say this would have been exactly the place I'd have hung out in college, but nearing age 50 and wanting to be able to have a conversation, it wasn't quite what we'd hoped. Still enjoyed it overall, though!
Stopped here for a beer while walking around downtown. We were greeted right away and with a smile. A pleasant change from the place we had lunch at earlier. The beer selection was better than I expected and even offered a couple of in house brews. Overall we enjoyed our experience, service was great, and the food that was being served to the other patrons looked tasty. Next time I am in San Marcos I will definitely give it a try.
It’s a bar and restaurant so we should have figured that it would be noisy, but it was enough to discourage us from returning. Although it seems popular for the younger crowd.
I've been coming here since it opened, and Sean Patrick's has changed again and again over the years. The atmosphere is relaxed with lots of sports on television throughout, pool tables and shuffleboard are interspersed among the tables making it a good hangout. The food is tasty and you get good portions for pretty much everything, although to me it'd kind of pricey. I've had both good, attentive waitstaff here and some that I've had to wave down (understaffed at times?)... Last time it took us 25 minutes just to get our check and the place was definitely not full. That being said, most of my experiences here have been a lot of fun. The outdoor patio is nice as well, and the bathrooms here are always clean!
The Guinness BBQ Bacon Cheddar Burger has become my new favorite. The burger patty was delish, the bun soft, and the onion nice and thick. Then the sauce was awesome. I'll definitely order this again. UPDATE. This is definitely a place to go for atmosphere. Not so much for lunch. But if you're going for a beer and lunch then yes definitely here!
The food was good. The noise level is loud. The experience was ok except for rude clientele interrupting our date we were sharing together that evening. Some people don't know how to shut up.
I'm not sure why, but this place is starting to turn into a dump. The interior looks trashy and unmanaged, and table service has vanished. The bar has removed about 25% of its seating to make room for walk-up ordering of food and drinks. Maybe owners/managers have gotten lazy or overwhelmed by COVID fears. The food is still really good and their prices remain reasonable. Their craft beer selections remain superior to similar venues, and they offer their own brews plus guest beers on about 50 taps. Service is friendly and prompt. Once a great place, it's now pretty average. Get well soon!
Don't expect to get traditional pub fair. It is pub food with a texmex flair. For example, we had boxty that came in a tortilla!
Service was good, beer was good the onion rings as well as the Fish and Chips were not so good. Too much batter and water logged with grease that had something burnt it it. I will say that there are other items that look good and would be worth giving the food a second try.
Seems a pretty cool place. On weekends one can get there drink in a small pitcher (beers and wells) for about $7. They have a bunch of taps, friendly bartenders, and food. But the kitchen closes around 11p. Overall it's a fine big-box Irish/sports bar feel. I've been to much better and much much worse.
PROS: The beverage selection and quality are top notch. If there is a draft beer you enjoy, they have it. Also the service is great. CONS: the food is very greasy, and the price to portion ratio is terrible. 12$ for 6 mozzarella sticks is outrageous. Especially when they are the same quality as sonic, but 3x the price. The onion rings are so heavily battered you will have GI issues if you finish them. The music is alright, but it causes the drunks to start singing along, which drives customers such as myself to hurry up and leave. It is sometimes so loud you cant place an order until the song is over. Overall, grab a drink, sit outside, and you will enjoy the experience.
We highly recommend the chef to check out MO’s Irish Pub outside Houston. The Bomb. Sean’s shepherd is very small, not very tasty and potatoes tasted like instant. Salad and house dressing very good. Fried eggrolls were lacking cheese, more meat and real sauerkraut flavoring (mainly what was in the roll) and pricy for appetizer. My hubby ordered the roast beef sandwich with horseradish sauce and au jus, thin sandwich, missing Swiss cheese, he did not like but I loved it. Could have been fuller and with cheese, yummy. Potato chips home made but hard as a rock and lacked flavoring. Sweet potato fries good. Nothing was piping hot though. You do order at bar, so service was so so. One waitress very sweet the other a lemon. I think I counted 16 tvs and a screen. That was awesome. Atmosphere was nice, restrooms clean but a little spooky to get to. Was so disappointed. Non drinkers but tea was good. May try again, may not.
They dont play Irish music 😭 Edit: the staff did when I asked only played one song didnt know any Irish songs and told me they only play the music when the gm is there 👎🤣
Other than my cremated onion rings, the food was very good. It did take about 30 minutes to get it though.
Usually the lunches and dinners are good. We decided to try the brunch and it was average, would not do it again. It was not the greatest brunch atmosphere with loud music playing making it difficult to have a conversation. I did ask the waitress if she could turn the music down to take the edge off the volume a tad, but didn't notice any change. This is a beautiful old building which is part of its charm. It does needs some attention and refurbishing, the bathrooms are in poor condition and the bathroom hallway is smelly. If these things don't bother you I would recommend trying lunch or dinner.
⭐ Mixed Feelings, but the Truth Matters I came into this experience with high hopes—it was festival time, and I expected a vibrant crowd and great energy. Instead, it was just a regular porch gig with a few families eating fries. But that’s fine. I still did what I always do: I showed up, gave my all, and engaged anyone who would listen. The staff initially seemed kind—they offered me a beer and something small to eat. That went a long way. But what happened next erased the good will. I had just finished playing and was sitting quietly behind the stage area to rest and eat, after performing at two gigs that day and fighting to keep busted gear working. I told the owner I needed a few minutes to decompress alone. Instead, I was told—rudely—to move so they could shoot some fake videos. No heads-up, no respect. Just “move.” Let me make this clear: I wasn’t in the way. I wasn’t causing trouble. I was simply trying to take care of myself after giving everything I had for their guests. And when I asked if my 80-pound dog could have a little food to stay calm while I played, I was given a single slice of bacon. That’s not compassion—that’s a gesture made for optics. Their response to my original review is the kind of passive-aggressive gaslighting that proves my point: when someone like me—who's lived on talent, hustle, and decades of marketing and performance experience—tells you what they need and what they experienced, you listen. You don’t dismiss it, spin it, or play victim. You listen. I’ve worked with real crowds, real clients, real engagement. I've made a living reading people, not protecting my ego. The truth is, this is just a glorified Chuck E. Cheese porch in a small-town theme park. And that's fine. Just don’t pretend you’re running the Apollo when you can’t even show a shred of basic respect to a performer or their needs. This is my review, unfiltered. You don’t have to agree with me. You just have to respect that this is my experience. And that’s something you don’t get to rewrite
Meh. It was okay. I guess. I ate it all so I guess it couldn't have been that bad but I would definitely describe it as meh. The sweet potato fries were burned. The patty melt was bland. The mozzarella sticks were over priced. My husband's drink was only refilled after we finished the meal even though it was mostly empty when the food was delivered. It was mid-day on a Friday and not very busy. There was really no excuse for how long the meal took or the lack of refills. I definitely could have spoke up at the time to get the fries replaced, but didn't really feel like waiting for them again. The buffalo chicken sandwich was great though. Would recommend. Ask for extra ranch before the waitress walks away or you won't get another chance.
The food was excellent and 3 of the 4 staff members were engaging, knowledgeable about the beers, and the atmosphere was fun. One shaven headed bartender ruined all of that. I don't understand how someone so ill suited for the service industry could be a bartender. The long haired bartender was very nice however and we ended up waiting just to speak to him. Probably won't go back, although the food was really good.
By the pictures the food looks great, unfortunately after sitting there for about 10 minutes it was clear there wasn't a server or they just don't care. This is a seat yourself so there is no interaction when you just get in and that's probably where the problems start. As a place that serves food, you should always be aware who walks in.
Not sure if it was an off day but service was not what it use to be. Wanting to sit down and have service Is not what you get you must place your order at the Bar and get your own refills. Philly cheesesteak was great. However, sweet potato fries came out burnt. They were happy to replace them, but I was already finished With my food. Bartender wanted to get an attitude after I asked for a bag of chips that came with the meal since I didn’t get proper order of sweet potato fry’s and didn’t want to take late order of onion rings. Enjoy your $1 it’s really more than you deserved. Cheers!!
I really wanted to LOVE this place!!! We have been looking for an Irish Pub. They have that covered. We walk in and the waitress was friendly, and attentive. She told us to sit wherever we liked. We sat at a high-top. We noticed she was fairly busy and the bar was empty. We decided to move to the bar. The bartender was not the warmest. I said "We decided to keep you company." The music was loud so she did not hear me (I assumed). As she came closer I repeated, Nothing!!! My wife asked her to wipe the bar down.No response. (but smugness) As she was wiping the bar, I said again "we decided to come keep you company." She barely gave a nod, but more of a smug smirk. When we shared our experience she was more defensive than apologetic. We decided to leave. As we walked away the bartender (manager) said "Have a nice night" in a loud sarcastic tone. We advised the server, Courtney that it had nothing to do with her and we shared our experience. She convinced us to stay. Premise brewed Irish red is pretty good. Strong start with a smooth finish. St. Norman's Red. Wings were good. Try the Irish Egg Rolls - Basically a reuben egg roll. Pot pie was about a 5. Not a great pie crust, more of a melba toast topping. I hope to give it another shot....but since the bartender is the manager, I have little hope. She had ample opportunity to redeem herself. Her inexperience and personality are detrimental. I can imagine she causes more concern b/w front and back of the house than she is worth. She sucks. If this is her norm, she would NOT be working for me. I highly suggest to the owner that ALL OF THE STAFF read and report on "Raving Fans" As we left the staff huddled in the corner watching i us leave with smug smirks. What pisses me off is that this MANAGER, seriously believes she did nothing wrong. I seriously hope they did not spit in my beer or food. Even the "doorman" was a slug. He passed us a dozen times and spoke not a word. As we got up to leave, he left the door and joined the staff in their hackle of a corner. I am highly disappointed.
It's a sad day. So to start i have been coming here for over a decade. I rave to people about the bangers and mash. Now it had been a while since I have been in. Alot has changed and not for the better. Luckily the food hasn't changed. It is still the same great food I have always remembered, except the fried pickles. There have gone cheap by going from spears to the coins(not even the good kind). The service has turned to garbage. We went in as a group of 8 to celebrate a birthday. This wasnt happy hour or even in the evening. This was a late lunch at 2pm. There was a couple of tables with other people but NOT BUSY. We get greeted and told to sit any where. Group of 8 handed 1 menu. "If you want more menus you have to ask at the bar." Red flag #1. "When you are ready to order go to the bar too" At this point I'm thinking, "so what do the servers do around here?" We all sit down and start going through our 1 menu. It took sometime. In that time we were approached by not 1, not 2, but 3 different people all telling us to make our order at the bar. I told the last person, "the next person to approach our table to tell us what we already know had better have a pad of paper and pen" When we're ready to order we all got up and headed to the bar. Thats what they wanted. All 8 people got up and made our orders. Bar tender was clearly overwhelmed by this. To think it could have been avoided if 1 person had just taken the order like a normal restaurant. All of this is on one ticket. No splits or multiple orders, all one. They come out with the food and they didnt know where anything went and forgot several items. The appetizer were cold probably because no one communicated we wanted them all at the same time. They asked and we said yes. Now at this point I asked myself, "do they even want a tip?" It's places like this that shoot themselves in the foot then complain that it hurts. I tip good service. To say I've had better service at a mcdonalds would be an understatement. I was appalled by the laziness I saw. Nobody cleared the table of the stack of dishes that piled the end of the table till we were actively leaving. No drink refills. The atmosphere has gone trashy too. Used to be filled with school spirit and Irish paraphernalia. It's an Irish pub in a college town. Not they just put whatever everywhere. One booth looked like a hobby clearance sale of vintage looking comic strip plates. Why? Doesnt fit at all. Food is still great but if they can't get their heads out of their seat warmers, it won't matter. IF I go back it'll be too.
Came here for a good Irish pub and the reviews. Place was disgusting and filthy, bartenders were lazy and looked like they rolled out of bed, I had to get my own drink out of the fridge, the Shepard pie tasted like what I'd imagine at food would taste like, ...what irish pub has tacos on the menu. So sad. Such a waste of space for what could be a truly traditional pub. This place was ghosted when I arrived and others were thriving. (A shabillion red flags) don't go. Not worth it.
Highly disappointed in this place. The corned beef was tough and over done. My kiddos french fries were not cooked and when I mentioned it they just said sorry. No one would wipe down seats for people. Place was just about the $$$ Fados knew how to celebrate 💚
The bar is the best part. The food was not good. They would do themselves a favor by letting grubhub replace the kitchen. Fish and chips, remarkably flavorless and undercooked coating. If I were Ireland I would sue to have my country disassociated from this restaurant. I really think the chefs left and something happened. I hope that this place figures it out because the potential is ridiculous. The menu sounds amazing but is executed with every flaw possible.
Unable to leave zero stars for the food! Food came out burnt, took one bite and it was bitter and disgusting. We asked the bartender who takes your order to re-make our food and not only were refused but rudely told by the bartender "on one else complains about the food here", refused to refund our money for food that we were not going to eat. Don't waste your money here!
*Response to owner's reply* The increase in price is insignificant to the decreased quality of service. You don't need to explain inflation, we all live it. If you're going to increase prices 30%+, your quality & service should remain consistent at the very least. If you need a napkin, silverware, or even more water, you need to get in line or wait for the bartenders to finish making drinks, which they are rarely available. The food was overcooked, and brought out in incorrect stages. One appetizer came after the entrees, and there was a 10 minute interval between the two entrees served. I still recommend this place for late night eats but folks shouldn't expect a great sit down experience. *Update 9/24* Moved to counter service. Prices have increased. Long lines that move slow. Expect to spend 15+ mins to order when they're busy. Took 30 minutes to bring out appetizers, most of which were over cooked. This restaurant is not the same as it was years ago. I would avoid and eat at one of the many superior surrounding restaurants. One of my favorite places to drink and eat in San Marcos. Great staff, great drinks. A few billard tables and shuffle boards offer some entertainment. Wood furnishings give you true sense of a pub. They have daily deals and great happy hours. Place is routinely clean (including restaurants). They even allow dogs on the outside patio. Great location and this place tends to lack the company of F-boys. Sean P's FTW
I was in the food industry forever, so I am empathetic to a busy night, understaffed crew, and other restaurant quirks that the staff has no control over, however, attitude is something that is 100% controllable by staff. My friend and I sat at the bar, and we were ignored for so long it felt like us being there was an inconvenience. (It was not close to closing time) Two people sat next to us and left because they had been ignored for long, and again, they got there after us. The bar tenders looked at us and never acknowledged us, like at all, and when they finally did it was with a borderline disdain and definitely not apologetic for being ignored for so long. I don't know what happened before we got there, but I can attest to the complete lack of respect, care, and attentiveness we were shown at the bar. We had one drink and left, it was uncomfortable how comfortable they were with being so bad at customer service.
Seems like a lively bar, but I sat at the bar and the bartender stood in front of me most of the time and apparently didn't see me. Barbacks were friendly and said hello, so I wasn't invisible to everyone there, but I was hungry and got tired of waiting, so after 15 minutes I left and found a good meal down the street. There's far too many good places in San Marcos to consider going back, and I recommend giving this a miss
Service is mediocre, menu prices are wrong was told they would adjust and they did not. Food is alright at best.
In response to the owner's reply to my review (which called my review spam), this is not spam. I used to go to Sean P's a lot but the service has gone down in the past year and ive never experienced anyone here try to fix it. And that is apparent in their reply to my giving 1 star. Didn't realize I had to explain myself when I decided to review this place 1 star but now if I could go lower, I would😊
Spent Halloween 2026 at the Square for the first time, looking to experience something new. I decided to step into Sean Patrick’s first because it looked inviting from the outside — lively, good atmosphere, and plenty of people inside. I figured that was a good sign… turns out, not so much. When I walked in, I noticed an “Order Here” section on the right side of the bar with a long line, but saw others seated at the bar being served directly. So I grabbed a seat and waited to be approached by a bartender. After a long day of work back in San Antonio, I was ready for a cold beer and a hot meal — but instead, I was met with one of the rudest encounters I’ve had in a while. One of the bartenders immediately snapped at me after 5-10mins of me sitting patiently, and yelled “If you’re trying to order here to skip the line, I’m not giving you anything. You can have water.” No greeting, no explanation — just attitude right off the bat. They yelled so loud that everyone in the establishment literally stopped what they were doing to look over. That’s how loud they yelled 😂 As someone who also works in hospitality, I know that’s not how you treat guests, especially first-timers. This isn’t a bad review for Sean Patrick’s as a whole, but for that specific bartender. Management really needs to address that behavior — it completely kills the vibe for new customers. So, are the bar stools just for decoration? 🤔 If you’re planning to visit the Square, skip Sean Patrick’s and head to Valentino’s instead — better service, better food, and better beer. Valentino’s can have my business any day.
