Avis sur Brothers Cafe San Mateo
Looking for a nice breakfast place by redwood city/woodside, my partner and I stumbled upon brothers cafe. With a few other locations in the bay, I knew this place must be pretty good. It was indeed pretty good. We ordered the St. Patty’s benedict as well as the Bananas Foster French Toast. Both dishes were pretty delicious and the service was great. The cashier was very patient with us as we navigated their menu and as this restaurant is an order then sit down restaurant, it was very easy to get seated. It is in a pretty isolated area, so I am not sure how busy they would get here, but it is a pretty good breakfast option.
You order and pay before you are given a table to sit down at, making it super efficient. I've been here a couple times now and the quality is consistent - pancakes are fluffy, the toasted bread, etc. love that the banana foster had the sauce and toppings come as separate so that it doesn't make the dish soggy if you didn't finish and wanted to take home. Fried chicken plate was great and fried well (not greasy). The fries with feta cheese and garlic is a great side to choose!
Very nice restaurant cafe with large menu for everyone to pick something to their liking. I like the setup of ordering first at the counter and picking a table out after to have your food delivered to your table. The interior is very clean. Has outdoor seating. Tried the spaghetti carbonara and the Mediterranean chicken plate. Both were excellent in taste and portion size. The orange-carrot juice was freshly squeezed and delightful. Service of employees was top-notch.
This was our first time here, and walking inside gave a pretty warm inviting feeling for a Wednesday morning. Simply decorated and well lit. It was pretty busy as well. I was greeted right away, and my order was taken promptly. Both people who helped me were super nice and made sure my order was complete. We ordered: 1. Corned beef hash and eggs - Tasty and couldn't get enough. The red peppers and seasoning went well with the crunchy hashbrowns and over easy egg 2. Meatlovers breakfast sandwich - It's a good hearty sandwich with a lot of flavors. Something you can eat on the go, but why rush perfection? 3. Chicken and waffles - The waffles were light and had crunchy edges. To me, it didn't need syrup or butter. I could easily polish it off in one sitting. I'm the type that doesn't eat chicken and waffles stacked together. I eat it separately. The chicken was crunchy and juicy. I loved that it came with gravy, I wish I had asked for more. It was a perfect combo. 3. Brioche toast - Cinnamony and sweet. Not your regular french toast, but it was good. It's not super eggy, like you can taste the bread and the seasoning. Overall, we were happy with our visit and will be back soon. Highly recommend this to people who are looking for classic American Breakfast with a light twist.
All the food we ordered was delicious. We got the French toast, breakfast sandwich, and kids hamburger and fries. They give big portions and plates are very filling. We also ordered coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice. Delicious! Service was quick. When we arrived, they told us to grab a menu, choose our own seats, and when we were ready, go back up to the counter and order our food. After we ordered, it took about 20 min to get our food. (Very fast for our 6 person family.) It was a family friendly place with a relaxed, chill atmosphere. They had seating available inside and outside. Parking wasn't a problem. Lots of open spots. Some farther than others.
This place is popular for brunch. Dinner was pretty calm. I got the fish and chips with a Cesar instead of fries. It was great. The fish was very flaky. The fillets were a little small. To drink I got the ghost town hazy. I really liked it. The only complaint was they have one person working everything. It was kinda stressful seeing our food ready but the lady was busy at the register.
Always exciting to have a new breakfast spot so we had to try it. The service was fast, super friendly and welcoming. The location was bright and warm. Food was delivered fast as well. We had the pancakes, French toast and biscuits and gravy. The French toast was soft on the inside but had some batter still uncooked. The gravy was a new flavor for us, not particularly our fav as we prefer a more traditional gravy. Pancakes were great. Syrup was tasty and served warm. Eggs, great. Pork sausage was ok. I’ll have to try the chicken or bacon next time. Overall Everything tasted really fresh and not greasy / oily. The coffee was fantastic, and piping hot. Cappuccino was great too. Apple juice is fresh pressed from an apple. You’re not getting the fake stuff and even if the kiddo doesn’t like pulp, you know I drank it for her. Our experience overall was good. I would happily go back again and try a new dish. They also do lunch all day so there’s more to explore!
Great new addition to the San Mateo food scene! The club sandwich was delicious, as was the buffalo chicken salad and chicken fingers for the little one. Looking forward to trying out their brunch menu soon. Large parking lot in a the Laurelwood shopping plaza, and conveniently located next to some Tesla Superchargers!
Was excited to see a new breakfast place on the map and decided to try! And glad I did! Great location and yummy menu! Very cozy and open setup inside with a lot of natural light. The breakfast sandwich was delicious! Defiantly coming back to try the Benedict!
Super fast and friendly service! On weekends there is generally a line for breakfast. The menu is interesting with a few options from Central and South America. One unhappy thing… the muffin for the Eggs Benedict was cold… not toasted. The Platanos Fritos was OK with plantains with no particular taste. Perhaps a twist of lemon would have enhanced the taste. On the whole a bi e spot.
I really like the chicken & waffle. The size is large (4 pieces of chicken), it’s enough for me to finish in two meals. Always easy to park, and close to Piazza, which is a very nice grocery store as well.
Nice, quiet spot where you order up front and they bring the food to you. I got the eggs benedict and it was cooked perfectly. Also I loved the hash brown as it was one crispy, delicious rectangle. Bottomless coffee and nice people. Would totally come back.

How am I only now discovering this place?? It's so good! We had huevos rancheros and french toast and it was outstanding. It gets crowded so be prepared to wait. They don't take reservations, I think.
Brothers Cafe is my go-to in the area for a simple, high-quality brunch. The menu isn’t fussy: just well-made staples like eggs, pancakes, and solid coffee, and everything comes out fresh and consistent. Service is warm and quick, the space is clean, and prices feel fair for the quality. It’s an easy stop while Tesla supercharging nearby.
We showed up on a Sunday with a party of 30 with a traveling girls volleyball team. They made us feel welcome and accommodated us rolling in all at once. Great service we are appreciative of your hospitality and we will come back again
On October 27th, I visited Brother's Cafe around 3:00 PM while running between appointments. I was looking for a quick, protein-rich meal but was unsure what to order. The staff member at the counter was exceptionally patient and helpful, guiding me to a perfect decision. The service was quick, and the food was delicious. Thank you!!

My husband and I just landed in San Mateo from Taiwan. This is our first family reunion breakfast since 2022. We are SO happy to see our beloved children and enjoyed the delightful breakfast.
I recently visited this cafe for the first time with friends, and we had a pleasant experience overall. Upon entering, we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff, which made a great first impression. The menu offered a variety of food options, making it easy for everyone to find something they liked. We ordered the country fried steak, fried plantains platter, and the breakfast wrap. While the eggs were a bit bland, the country fried steak was delicious, and the fried plantains were particularly tasty. The atmosphere was enjoyable, especially since we were there early in the morning when it was calm and relaxed. The only downside was the pricing; it seemed a bit high. However, the portions were generous, which somewhat justified the cost. Overall, it was a good visit, and I would consider returning for the friendly service and tasty plantains.
Killer French Toast and fresh squeezed orange juice is an exceptional duo for your taste buds —might not be for sugar intake, but sinfully good! Also had the classic Eggs Benedict with tasty ham and hash browns. Good service. Bustling restaurant. Great visit!
Sunday breakfast at Brothers Cafe. Ordered breakfast with coffee (refillable) . Ham, 2 sunny side eggs, biscuit (very good), corned beef hash. Good breakfast. Tasted also their pancakes ( VG!) may come back later.

The Home Run sourdough breakfast sandwich was excellent and I would order that again x100. The hash brown serving that came with the sandwich was ginormous and I ended up needing a to-go box for that! The latte however was not to my liking, tasted bitter to me.

Had the BLTA and bacon was cold and stale. Extremely hard to read the menu on the wall from where you order and the order taker doesn't advise of options. Overall, quality and level of service makes it not worth the high price point.
