The Flatiron is the #1 Sports Bar in the Bay Area. Alex & Lisa have a done a great job resurrecting the Flatiron with new school concept and momentum which includes craft cocktails, a selection of over 40 beers, and the Eclectic food menu with fresh organic ingredients, and local farmers. My favorite app is Calamari with Bingo Bob's cocktail sauce, Mom's tacos, pulled pork tacos, and build out your own burger. The AV & sound system are well thought out and inspire you. The staff including the Sous Chef, Shaffer the bartender, and Brenna, are reflections of Alex and Lisa, who are solid individuals. Alex & Lisa could have created a nice bar, restaurant, in the city or another town in Marin or Sonoma. They decided to create a place for us in San Rafael. I appreciate what Alex & Lisa have done to coach up the Flatiron in our community.

Quality selection on tap. Very nice atmosphere. Lots of sportsbar screens. Check out the cool rescued floors. I'll be back to try the food....

Asian Panda Salad with the ponzu chicken? Hell Yea!!! Not a Salad person.. get the Reuben pastrami, sando with the russian dressing... Its my favorite place to come and eat while I watch a game. Highly recommended if you are in town.

Shrimp tacos are tasty and the wings are on point. You don't have to worry about how you will clean your palette because their are many drinks on tap to choose from.

The buffalo wings are as good as Hooters, but the Al's Wings are probably the best chicken wing on the planet. Cocktails are good, many other solid apps and entrees as well.

Hands down the best fried chicken Cesar salad wrap in all the land. Their tater tots are crunchy and light. I really ought to branch out cause there are tons of other things in their menu. Check the butcher paper for specials: my brother in law says the burger is bananas. Super selection of beers and tons of screens for games. Parking can be a bit dicey.

Flatiron has been open since 1986 which is going on almost 40 years to make us all feel old 😁 It has weathered many changes in downtown San Rafael but it has remained because it has great cocktails, friendly staff and fellow patrons, all at a very reasonable price. If you are looking for a nice cocktail, maybe some karaoke or trivia, this place is a locals place that is the bees knees and the cat’s pajamas. Any place that has Empress Gin for a mere $11 plus tax is pretty classy. Thanks for a nice nightcap before I headed home to my hotel.

Oddly some of the best food in town. The menu is so creative. Can’t eat any of these dishes elsewhere. I don’t really go to bars, but my wife and I come here often.

I love coming here for drinks and some appetizers. The cocktails are delicious and usually served by a really cool and nice bartender. Their service is really good, and their vibe in general is just great. This is one of my favorite bars in the area.

Best bar I have been to in marin/San Rafael. The Tuesday night Karaoke is full of fun people. Drinks are reasonably priced and cheaper than most! Had a ton of fun and can't wait to come back

We eat here several nights each week. The food and staff are great. The menu has lots of variety without being overwhelming, and never gets old. This is our casual weekday go to. (Gets louder on game nights)

We went to watch a non-local NBA game. They were super-accomodating...out it on a TV in the corner. Beer and cocktails gr8. Food awesome (I REALLY enjoyed then Bulgogi Fries). Service exceptional!!!

This is my favorite place in the center of San Rafael, it is quite spacious, the music is not limited which opens the door to all communities, the service at the bar is very very good, the person in charge of security is quite friendly but always doing his job, whether you're just to have a couple of drinks or to spend the whole night there you will surely enjoy it, take your friends, family or partner, you will spend quality time. The drinks are quite good and you will feel safe.

The food is a little overpriced, but the staff are awesome and make it totally worth it. Always have an excellent selection of beer and alcohol. Bartenders always make drinks correct in my experience. Gets crazy on game nights, especially on warriors games. Good spot for Friday night fun and for a casual beer on a Tuesday.

Go in for happy hour and get the ravioli as a start. This place always has a great selection of quality beers. Staff are super friendly, they high five a lot! Great place to watch a game as well, get there early to secure yourself a prime spot.

The manager was on top of everything in there and everything ran smoothly. Just like every other time I go in there they already know what beer I'm going to order cuz I memorize their regular customers and guess what you can be the next regular customer. The bartender asked me what I'd like to drink and I asked him to surprise me and he made me THE MOST EXCELLENT drink ever. I can't recall the name of it but it was like a tequila Old Fashion. Great service!!!

I come here alot because they are consistently open late and serve food late til 10pm. I would recommend their coconut shrimp or fried calamari. Their signature burger is pretty good and saucy. Their banh mi is also super good. Whoever makes their sauces in the kitchwn for their food is on point.

Great sports bar, with good service.

Sports bar with enough TV's and alcohol to love up to that title. The beer selection is quite good, in that there are options to satisfy pretty much anyone. It's one of the few places I know where they pour Coors and Brother Thelonious under the same roof. If you don't like beer, they've got cocktails too. The food options are plentiful and varied and the food itself is good, although I pretty much always get the steak salad so I haven't exactly tried everything. There are several veggie options too (my girlfriend is vegetarian) in the form of small plates. It's a sports bar, so it can get loud. Not the type of place to have a quiet family dinner, necessarily, but totally the type of place to have some good food, beer, and watch the game.

Great Place To Watch Bay Area Games

Food was good, those Cabos fish tacos are no Cabos fish tacos but very close. Drinks were awesome too, mint spritzer looked awesome, but Anita our server was the best.

This place was great. Stopped on the way from SFO to our hotel in Petaluma, was not disappointed. Food was excellent, our server was fantastic, and the beer selection was top tier.

Excellent local restaurant/sports bar with a great menu and well-curated beer list. Francisco made sure our out-of-town group felt at home. Food was fresh and delicious - if you are traveling in the area, make sure you stop here!!! Do yourself a favor and try the Bulgogi Fries - AMAZING!

A great local spot for watching a game. Large TVs and a great sound system. The wings and burgers are great and they have a good selection of drinks. I heard the Golden State is a must have. Prices were reasonable for most items but the wings average about $2 per.

Fun place to hang out most days. Especially fun on Friday and Saturday nights. It gets packed those days. 4 stars though because even though they have great selection of beer, its a nice atmosphere, and bartenders are knowledgeable, they don't have enough bartenders working during busy shifts. Also, they only have one bathroom so there is mostly always a line.

The Flatiron is a good place to catch a game. Lots of TVs, they're happy to try to accommodate everyone by getting any requests up. The beer selection is good and there's lots of fun decor, even the floor is the old San Rafael High gym floor. The space in the back is the most comfortable for a dining experience, as they do have a kitchen and food menu. Later in the evening, after sports have ended, the atmosphere changes somewhat drastically from a sports pub to a usually crowded bar of intoxicated characters. However, if you're headed there after the sporting hours, that's likely what you're looking for.

Fun place to stop for a cocktail when heading out of San Francisco into Marin and/or points beyond. I detected that uniquely alluring "bar smell" (y'all lushes know what I'm talking about, hahaha) halfway down the block, before we even walked in the door. It's a sports bar that celebrates the San Francisco Bay area's greatness - past and present. Good music (never did find a jukebox, if any.) We sat in the back room, next to (3) pinball machines. The bartender was a sweetheart and slogged our drinks back to us, when she really didn't have to. Tempting food menu; however, the kitchen was closed by the time we got there (close to midnight). Look forward to grabbing something to eat there, next time!

This is a great place to watch sports. For playoffs you have to get there early, but there are lots of TV's for excellent viewing. The food is really good for bar food. I often come by for dinner at the bar for the food and the laid back, friendly vibe.

As a bar I'd give this 5 stars, as a restaurant 3 stars. I love the location and atmosphere for a bar, and the triangle shape of the building is very unique. Huge beer selection, dark wood walls, the floor is actually made from the floor of a HS gym, and there's a scoreboard behind the bar. I probably didn't make great food selections, as it turned out almost everything was fried - and it was overdone and dry. But the menu items were very interesting and I've heard the burgers are fantastic. Lots of TV screens with great pictures.

Very cool place but won’t go there to watch football again. To take my two kids two watch the game would be $120 minimum. I don’t know how long they will be doing it because they don’t answer their phone. It’s a shame because it was a solid football joint with good food and friendly staff.

Wish I could say something better. Bartender basically acted like she had something better to do. Place is cool but the Bay's influence is definitely taken the soul out of a place like this. Parking sucks.

I’ve visited Flatiron twice now and the service has been slow. Why not leave a drink menu on the bar or put the draft list on the wall? It takes me two or three interactions with the bartender to get a beer. I ordered the grilled cheese supreme and the portion was child sized. Perhaps that’s on me, but what left a bitter taste was hearing the bartender badmouth some guests who had just left. They were polite and I saw them receive slow dismissive service as well. I left Flatiron still hungry and wondering if the staff is on to discussing me now that I’ve left.

Don’t ask to have them put your game on the tv, even the manager wasn’t allowed to put a different game/show on the TVs than what “the owner” wants....even though he/she isn’t there.....cool place though and as far as I know, the best bar to watch hockey....though not a single Canadian been on the menu.....so maybe not.....I’ll find somewhere else to watch the next game of the playoff series.

The closing time is 2am I went there at 11:48pm and they told me the bar is closed while there was still couple people in there I don’t know how to explain or they need to explain

Oily food & bad service. I would consider skipping this place if you were in the area! The bartender in particular had a whole lot of attitude that didn't sit well with me. It could have just been a bad day for her, but it does not warrant her to ruin everyone else's day!

Didn't buy any merch at all. The company will take your cash and not ship it to where your located. They won't respond to trouble shooting emails or communicate at all. Just really dumb business. Don't spend any money on the cheap merch! I'm warning you.

Terrible service by the female bartender. If the owner is reading this, it's your bartender, working Friday on 7/30/2021! She went as far as to scream at me, asking me "are you going to be OK?". I just wanted my oder, to go home to my baby daughter. This happened after I walked in, waited for about 30mins to just pick up my food order that I had phoned in 10mins before I arrived. The order included a bottled drink to go. She missed this and proceeded to ignore me again, so I waited another 15 to 20mins, I had to get the attention of the wait staff, he declined to do anything but to tell me to ask the bartender. So I went back to the bar asked her to read the receipt and she went ballistic, threw a fit, grab the to go container and mad she made a half as*ed, watered-down "GoldenState", slammed the drink infront of me and walked off mad. I grab the half empty container (they charged me $24 for this! Yes just a half empty sugar container, I didn't know it was watered-down until I got home). I didn't want to deal with her any more so I placed it in the bag and went home.. By the time i got home, after an hour of nonsense, the food was cold and soggy. This $80 meal was ruined by the entitled Bartender! I do have recipes with order times and chip read time stamps (visa). I will upload later! And photos of the half empty drink. If the bartender is overwhelmed, maybe she should ask for help and NOT yell at paying customers and throw temper tantrums.
