What a wonderful experience. Service was so attentive and our server Ricky could not have been better. He described everything eloquently, and anticipated all of our needs. The setting and atmosphere are second to none. After brunch we strolled around the beautiful property.

Only positive things to say about this spot. Located on San Ysidro Ranch, the drive up felt like something out of a movie. The service was impeccable and the foodbwas stellar. I will definitely come back when I am in the area. It is pricey though, so be sure to check their menu ahead of time so you don't get sticker shock. Regardless, the price tag matches the experience. The staff are knowledgable and very engaging. Shoutout to my main server Leon, he was fantastic! Thanks again to all the staff, can't wait to come back next time!

Stonehouse has been a favorite of ours for years, usually for dinner. This time we came for their Champagne Brunch and, for the first time, sat outside on the garden patio. It was a beautiful setting, and the weather couldn’t have been better - especially after SoCal had just survived yet another round of atmospheric river storms over Christmas. We were there with friends, and between the four of us, we managed to order most of the items on this special brunch menu. I started with the burrata and prosciutto, which was anything but traditional - in the best way. It was far more interesting and delicious than expected. I also ordered the shakshuka, my go-to at Stonehouse brunches, and it absolutely delivered. For dessert, I chose the profiterole, and it was hands-down the best part of the meal. I wish I could take those home with me. As always, the service was impeccable. Our server was genuinely warm and happy, and it showed. They kept the table perfectly managed - clearing and resetting seamlessly - and made sure our champagne, mimosa, and prosecco glasses were never empty. The worst part? Having to leave. Granted, we spent a leisurely two and a half hours enjoying the food, the setting, and catching up with old friends. Will we be back? Absolutely. We make it a point to come at least once a year. Stonehouse is an experience - it’s not just a meal.

We had such a beautiful, romantic evening! The gardens were lovely to stroll through, and their signature cocktails were the perfect start. The dinner itself was beyond extraordinary among the best food I have ever tasted. After dinner, we enjoyed a nightcap in the lounge, with cozy and elegant atmosphere. A very special mention goes to our server, Ivana. She was outstanding, warm, professional, and incredibly attentive. Her dish recommendations were spot on. She made us feel so welcomed and cared for, like we were the only guests there. Overall, this place exceeded all expectations!

If there were ten stars I’d give it for the atmosphere- the grounds are beautiful!! We had a family lunch and were able to enjoy the gardens. The food was of course delicious and the smoked drinks are fun! Friendly, courteous staff. They had a nice kid’s menu that was also a nice surprise// if nearby, it would be a treat for sure! Highly recommend-

The grounds and service are exceptional. The food was very good and the table side preperation options are nice. We enjoyed a cocktail at the speak easy prior to dinner and walked the grounds. They enjoyed our dinner at a beautiful outdoor table. It is a dining experience from start to finish. Give yourself time to walk thr gardens with a drink prior to dinner

We absolutely loved our experience here! You will not find a more beautiful setting, better service and great food at one location! They had amazing mocktail options for those of us who don’t drink and every bite of food was delectable. Every server and worker there greeted us with warmth and the absolute best service. It was a bonus to walk the grounds after dinner!

Five stars for everything. I am, self-admittedly, in possession of standards that are high. Our meal at Stonehouse at San Ysidro Ranch exceeded every expectation. We liked it a lot more than Caruso’s. As we entered restaurant, we were serenaded by a beautiful acoustic guitar. Our table was outside next to a majestic fireplace and surrounded by trees sparkling with twinkle lights. The atmosphere was romantic. Be sure to walk around the gardens after or before dinner - smell fresh rosemary, jasmine, and roses. Our server, Alejandro, was attentive, accommodating, and made great recommendations. Here’s what to order: Appetizers: the Korean beef tacos are a MUST. The agnolotti was also a must. Octopus and tuna tartar were yummy. Mains: steak Diane is prepared and flambèd tableside - such a fun presentation. If you get one thing, this has to be it. The Joel Du Robushon potatoes that accompany the steak are the best potatoes I’ve had in my life. I first tried his recipe in Tokyo about 15 years ago, and to experience the taste again was just a real treat. Dessert: soufflé all the way - they are delicious.

We celebrated our anniversary at Stonehouse at San Ysidro Ranch, and the evening exceeded every expectation. The garden setting is enchanting — peaceful, intimate, and surrounded by nature. A live guitarist played softly in the background, adding to the romantic and timeless feel of the place. The menu itself is a work of art — thoughtfully curated, beautifully presented, and rich in flavor. We had the salmon and chicken, both prepared with exquisite attention to detail. The banana dessert was a true showstopper — creative, elegant, and absolutely delicious. Service was impeccable — attentive yet unobtrusive. Valet parking was smooth and professional. This is easily one of California’s most atmospheric and refined restaurants, perfect for a special occasion or simply to treat yourself to something extraordinary. Highly recommended.

We came from Las Vegas to celebrate our anniversary and reserved the restaurant a month in advance. I asked for a beautiful table with a nice view, and we were given the best spot. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was amazing, and the service was outstanding. Everything was perfect and we truly enjoyed our evening!

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Stone House and couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional, warm, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. The setting is absolutely beautiful, with a romantic atmosphere that made the evening feel special from start to finish. Every dish we tried was outstanding. The Sweet Potato Mezzaluna was rich and flavorful, perfectly balanced with the prosciutto, sage brown butter, and goat cheese fondue. The Duck à l’Orange, flambéed tableside, was both a visual and culinary treat, tender, perfectly cooked, and paired beautifully with the barley pilaf and Grand Marnier sauce. The Jidori Chicken Breast was another highlight, with its truffle honey glaze, creamy risotto, and vibrant spring pea purée. We finished the night with the Traditional Bananas Foster, flambéed right in front of us, such a fun and delicious finale. Stone House made our anniversary unforgettable and we’re already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommend for any special occasion or anytime you want an incredible meal in a stunning setting.

The service at the restaurant was top-notch. The waitstaff were polite, attentive, and efficient. They were ready to assist with the selection of dishes and provide recommendations. The atmosphere in the restaurant was cozy and pleasant. The interior was stylishly decorated, creating a comfortable environment for enjoying the meal. The music was unobtrusive and complemented the overall ambiance of the establishment. Overall, my experience was very positive. I thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food, excellent service, and pleasant atmosphere. I gladly recommend this place for brunch and will definitely return again.

We went there for breakfast, and the place was so lovely. The food (breakfast) wasn't extraordinary, but the ambience was top-notch. The view from the restaurant was quite special, and the place felt warm and cozy. You get to enjoy the rose garden after the meal, which I think makes it a great dating spot. The valet parking is complimentary.

Stonehouse is a wonderful spot for a romantic dinner or a celebration. The miso black cod is delicious, but the burger is also worth regretting later. End with a baked Alaska flambéed tableside. And the bar downstairs makes some great cocktails. What’s cool about this place is that they have multiple different seating areas. You can sit on the terrace for views toward the pacific, in the garden among the landscaping, or on the patio where there’s sometimes a musician. Each has its own vibe. Service is always on point and they do carry a good selection of imported wines, not necessarily always common in SB.

We went to this restaurant for our anniversary dinner. The food, ambiance, and service was impeccable. The steak Diane and the black cod were amazing. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone that is looking for a higher-end experience.

Tl;dr:if spending $500+ on a dinner for two is a stretch for you then don't come. The definitive review you need. Lunch here is better to appreciate the grounds. It is expensive. You are in one of the wealthiest zip codes in the world, quality is not linearly going up with the price. Service is really great and the atmosphere was super romantic. The food was good, we had the steak Diane which they overcooked a bit to medium when asked medium rare. The Mac and cheese is quite ordinary. Overall the food but prices do feel inflated for the quality. For similar price you can get an even more outstanding meal at a michelin star steakhouse like Gwen's in LA. Again, you are paying a premium for the location. If you are saving for a special dinner/occasion I would not come here as you might be disappointed with high expectations . If this is in your usual budget range then you'll be satisfied and have a good time but wouldn't go out of the way to come here.

The setting is stunning — a softly lit patio, historic building, beautifully appointed in a way that feels special without trying too hard. Easily an A+ on atmosphere. Service landed closer to an B+/A-: our server was genuinely lovely, but we had to wait a bit to get his attention a few times. The food was more mixed than we expected. Highlights included the octopus (excellent), the duck l’orange (very good), and the carrots (also very good). The chickpea artichoke cake was solid, if not memorable. The fries were puzzling — billed as “the crispiest fries you’ve ever had,” which they… definitely were not. Our server offered to replace them, which we appreciated, but it felt more like a marketing mismatch than a kitchen issue and could have been easily avoided. Dessert was a real miss. The Meyer lemon tart was borderline bad — the pastry was thick, uneven and so hard I thought I might crack the plate trying to get my fork through it.

Let me start with the estate experience. Awesome garden, which they actually use most of it for their restaurant. Service experience is great, everyone was so friendly, right from the entrance and exit. Food presentation and how they serve the dish to you was amazing. Food taste was okay, nothing too exciting or unique about it. I wish they have more selections. Like their wine and cocktail lists. Overall atmosphere and staff services are top notch.

We celebrated my wife's 50th birthday here with five other couples. Starting with the positives: the ambience was absolutely charming, and the holiday decorations made the space feel especially magical. Our sommelier recommended excellent wines for our dinner. Unfortunately, the meal itself fell short of expectations. Given the size of our party, we were on a fixed menu, which is understandable; however, the execution should have been flawless at this price point. Two people in our group ordered the duck, which was prepared tableside, but neither dish was seasoned properly, resulting in very bland flavors. Others ordered the Steak Diane, which came with a side of potato gratin that were undercooked and unpleasantly crunchy. When we mentioned this to our server, we were told the potatoes were supposed to be crunchy, which was disappointing and dismissive. Considering the cost of the meal, we expected a much higher level of quality and attention to detail. There are several restaurants in the area offering far better food at a lower price.

Food was great once we got it. We ha a wait time between my iced tea order until I ask the if they didn't want to serve us. 45 minutes is to long to wait for food order. Food was great after ordering. Out in 5 minutes. I did get one egg and one drink off the bill for a 45 minute screw up. I usually don't complain but we drive an hour to eat there.

I decided on Stonehouse for my birthday dinner after hearing so much about it, and unfortunately it was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve had, especially for a restaurant that carries such a reputation and price tag. From the start, the service felt disorganized. We requested to sit in the outdoor area overlooking the ocean. We made reservations months in advance for the best patio seating but at 5:45 pm we’re told nothing available even though only 2 tables occupied. Instead, we were told to go to the veranda with vague directions on how to get there while others were personally escorted, we were left to figure it out ourselves. Once at the veranda, we stood at the door for five minutes while three staff members nearby continued chatting without acknowledging us. Only when we asked directly were we seated. At first, we were placed near the fireplace, but just five minutes later we were told we had to move. We carried our own waters and wine to a new table. What made this worse was watching as other guests were accommodated at the better tables by the fireplace. It felt like we were pushed aside. Our server was great, very knowledgeable, professional and accommodating! Nothing but great things to say about him! The food itself was the final letdown. For the reputation and the prices, it was bland, and far from Michelin star quality. Nothing stood out as memorable or worth returning for. They seemed to care more about presentation than flavor. The one positive was the Speakeasy, which had a great atmosphere. But overall, the experience at Stonehouse was far below expectations. it was not worth the price.
