It's just good pizza. It's not perfect but any complaints I have are hardly worth mentioning, except maybe the cheese being a bit too oily. The dough in particular is perfectly stretchy and has that solid, earthy charred gluten flavor. The whole Abbot Square food court is a wonderful place to hang out, and most of the places there are highly recommended.
Pizzeria la Bufala offers 9 different pizza options. (But don’t ignore the gnocchi.) We ordered 11 pizzas - all 9 of the menu pizzas and also the gnocchi. All of the food was great except the Margherita (Does this pizza ever taste good - why do pizzerias even offer it?) The hands down favorite was the gnocchi and an off-menu pepperoni pizza loaded with green and black olives. Oh my!!! We had 23 people huddled around 4 tables and everything was gobbled up. Highly recommended!!!
Wow. Top 3 pizza in Santa Cruz. We had their Diavolo and it was so good. Perfect crust and the sauce has that perfect amount of kick without being spicey. We can’t wait to go back here.
We tried Margherita Pizza 12” and a slice of Veggie Pizza. Both were really good. Would definitely visit again. They tasted fresh, were crispy and piping hot.
My favorite SC pizza. If you love hot, thin crust, Italian style brick oven pizza this is the place to go. The ingredients are tasty, the service is quick and friendly. Hang out with students, art lovers at the MAH. Love love their pizza
Always keepin it fresh with the most amazing burrata in town.... This little gem tucked away in a corner of downtown is a must hit if you want an authentic slice of Italy. Thanks for keeping us fueled for the trail! . . . . . #santacruz #cafelife @visitsantacruz #fatforfuel #ridetheredwoods #travelbug #cali #norcal #littlesliceofheaven
I love this Italian establishment! I am not a pizza fan, and the pizza at La Busalla is off the hook delicious. The crust is thin and sauce is super tasty and light. All of the ingredients are fresh and organic, the salads are large portioned and heavenly. Words cannot describe the protons OMG. I highly recommend eating here, the ambience is great as well because it’s in Abbott Square. The owner is super kind and generous, will put extra cheese on your food if you like and not even charge. I’m a fan! My friends and I love the food and friendliness! 5 star all the way! Thank you Sandro and Team ! This Bella is HAPPY The pic is half of a single slice order wow !

There are a ton of pizza options within Santa Cruz, but this is the best option for wood-fired pizza. I have been to this location a few times, got several types of pizzas, and always enjoyed every slice I got. The dough is perfectly cooked, the sauce is amazing, and their toppings always have great flavor. You can grab a pizza here and sit indoors or outdoors while you enjoy your meal. Some nights there are bands playing at Abbott Square, which is fun for friends and family, and there are outdoor heaters for when the coastal breeze kicks in during the summer or to keep you toasty during the winter!
The atmosphere is so fun! Love the open vibe. I ordered the Diavola it was SO GOOD! The service was spectacular too. They were very busy on Labor Day weekend and we got our pizza in a timely manner. Loved it !

This italian pizzeria is located in downtown Santa Cruz food court amongst many others. What stood out is the wafer light crust. It’s probably the lightest pizza crust I have ever tasted! Tried vegetarian pie. Taste of the pizza is pretty okay. Would love to try their eggplant parmigiana next time.
Pretty decent oven fired pizza with a puffy thin crust. Found within a food court setting. The toppings were good quality, only thing perhaps missing is a bouncier texture in the pizza crust. Large pizza is approximately $30. Also serve cheesecake, but it didn’t look homemade.
We shared a Capricciosa pizza here yesterday and the pie crust was delicate and crispy. The texture of the combination is also well orchestrated except that ours was missing the Tomatoes !! Will be back to try the Margarita for sure. The area is neat w plenty of outdoor seating w shade. Free wifi would also make it possible to get some work done.
Pretty reliable pizza place in Santa Cruz for good Neapolitan pizza. I’ve probably had a dozen of their pizzas and enjoy them a lot. I like to add arugula to my margarita, and they’re always good I saw another reviewer who was upset their pizza was soft rather than crispy….. But this is Neapolitan pizza, not a New York style slice restaurant. If you understand the difference and enjoy Neapolitan pizza I’m sure you will enjoy this
Wood fired pizza with fresh and authentic toppings. Staff is friendly and even tossed the pizza dough high to show my kids how it's done. Lots of options for other food, drinks, and spirits in Abbott Square. Everyone in your group can get what they want and still enjoy together.

I went bc a yelp review said they had GF slices. That must have been in the past. They do offer it in the 12” which is better than most that only offer it in a large. Pizza is ok. I have had better and better GF crust. The topping slide right off the pizza which was less than ideal. Overall meh 🫤
Crust is good, hand tossed. But the ingredients unfortunately lacked major flavor. Tried the Margherita pizza. The Meatballs on the other hand were excellent 👌

Used to love this place. Went there last Friday afternoon and there were like 4-5 guys standing around in the kitchen. Walked up and was ignored. Stood around looking at the menu on the way and there were 3 of the guys just standing around a wooden counter top behind the cash register shuffling cards on the wooden top and had a stack of $$$ (bills) sitting there too. Kept playing with the cards/moving the money around with their backs turned to us. Finally one guy comes up to the register like he might take an order but we were grossed out so decided to just eat somewhere else.

Looks pretty but zero flavor. Now im down $30 on a pie I didnt enjoy even a little. 2 stars bc at least they have a vegan option.
This pizza was very disappointing. Especially after reading the reviews. In my opinion it was expensive and fell flat. The 4 of us ended up grabbing another pizza somewhere else to satisfy our craving.

I hate writing this since I absolutely love them but my last order was sub par. I ordered the four cheeses and there was barely any cheese at all. Disappointing... maybe they are getting lazy?

The lasagna was really gross and I hardly ate it because it was so bad. It is the worst I have ever had in any country (I am from Europe). The cheese tasted like vomit, and a lot of the layers just didn’t have anything inside.
