This place is great! I was amazed by all the vegetarian and vegan dishes on the menu here. They even had some permanent menu and rotating options. I had to try three different tacos - Brussels sprout, sweet potato, and al pastor style hibiscus flower and they were all delicious. There was a short wait on a weekend and we sat outside. Beers were $4. Excited to return here.
I just found my new favorite Mexican restaurant in Santa Cruz! Stopped here randomly on our drive down when we saw it from the side of the road. Food was simply fantastic. I ordered a chicken taco and a carne asada taco - the steak was juicy and tender. The chicken had soooo much flavor! It was almost like a Chile verde chicken. The pinto prawns came with cheese on top, beans were cooked properly. The Spanish rice was delicious- now the color isn’t as orange/red like you see most places but the flavor was amazing, the texture was super soft and buttery. My boyfriend ordered the carnitas tacos— some of the BEST carnitas I’ve ever had- melted like butter in my mouth. The inside had a warm and cozy environment, food came out super fast. They also offered a ton of vegetarian options. Will definitely be back!!
One of the very few restaurants which serve vegetarian tacos without trying to imitate the meat ones! I tried all the three vegetarian special tacos and they were flavorful! I personally loved the sweet potato taco. My partner had the relleno and she loved it too! Recommend this restaurant for their food, for taking time and helping customize the order, and also for the nice service!
This is very authentic food. It's absolutely delicious and the portions are great! They also have delicious vegan options.
one of my favourite places in sc, the staff the food the vibes, literally every thing about this place makes me happy. i've never had a bad meal or experience at la cabaña 💜
Some of the best tacos of my life! I hate to admit this, but better than any taco I’ve had in Chicago IL or Austin TX, and I love their tacos. Should have gotten a beer.
I moved to Mexico and found myself longing for La Cabana. I cant hype this place enough, it’s too good to be true. Amazing vegan-veg options with super creative and authentic spin on dishes. 10/10 recommend.
My favorite place for nopales! Also really love their new seasonal vegan options.
I can see why this place is highly rated. The vegetarian posole is sooooo delicious. Just like real posole except w/out the pork or meat. I've eaten traditional posole but after eating this healthier version I'd rather eat this vegetarian stew. The non-meat tacos are better than expected..such as squash plate, sweet potato plate and the one they put Jamaica flowers in..I like beef alot but I prefer healthier versions of tacos. Ill keep returning here. Only other restaurant serving healthier Mexican food is Cafe Campesino. This and La Cabana are my favorite places to eat great Mexican food. Wouldn't frequent anywhere else that serves Mexican food.
There are a lot of taquerias in Santa Cruz and this is a good one; extensive menu with vegetarian options, great flavor and fast service If I lived nearby this would be a regular take out for me, but the music, decor and ambiance make it a good choice for dining in as well

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Santa Cruz, and easily the best place to but a burrito! The burritos are huge, and they have a variety of cool specialty options like nopales and jamaica. They also have multiple vegan and vegetarian options!

Local taqueria with burritos, quesadillas, and more unique fare. Order at the counter. Line gets long and food slow, especially on the weekend, so they use a numbered ordering system. Everything currently packaged to go. Limited outdoor seating, indoor tables, and free parking. The taco salad included taco shells placed on top of large chunks of iceberg and the burrito was soggy with butter, which was disappointing. Edible, but not exceptional. Could be an off day, but other competitors more enticing.
The rice is too soft for me and didnt have flavor. I got the regular bowl burrito and the steak didnt taste as much and the rice was so small portion than other place I've been... this is my first time in here and Im just maybe not used to the way they cook or I just maybe got a bad luck from the lerson who lrepared mtly meal... Otherwise I like the bean part.... I like that their restroom's toilet, sink and restroom floor seems to be pretty clean and neat. The toilet is hard to flush tho, the top flush is so tiny that my little fingers cant almost fit in it. Even though i used hand towel to flush, it ripped as I pushed down 😭Wash your hands thoroughly after flushing so you dont catch anything.......
Good carne asada burrito but the rice was white! Tasted like jasmine rice used for chinese food. Otherwise, the asada meat tasted geeat and so did the beans and other ingredients.

I was so disappointed in the service here. First off if you pay with your card as I did, you have to tip when you pay. Which makes you feel like you have to tip or else. My issue isn't with tipping but I tip for service. I tipped but my order was to go. I ordered two grilled snapper tacos. They made it one big taco with four tortillas. They just slapped it all together then wrapped it in one piece of foil and shoved it in a bag with online one pitiful slice of lime. They were giving everyone else these large to-go boxes. Even people who stayed to eat. When I asked for a to-go box she gave me this tiny desert box. I don't know what the deal was but I gave up and left. When I finally was able to sort my food out they had given me so much extra cabbage and what have you that even after eating most of the toppings I still had enough left over to put on two more tacos. A fish taco should be about fish. What a disappointment!
Food was average. The rice was good. I won't be back for seconds.

Stopped by here on a business trip and had a regular burrito Carnita with rice and beans. quite tasteless. very plain. was given a teaspoon cup of watered down salsa. Actually, if I lived in this area this would be my first and my last visit to this restaurant. In my photo is the burrito, after I put it on top of the rice and beans in a to-go container and poured one small cup of red and green salsa. The only flavors are the weak watered down salsas.
Updated: my son said there was more bread than meat..definitely not going back... Went tonight for the first time..we ordered to go..I ordered a combination plate..my son ordered a torta with side of fries..barely any fries. And my whole plate was forgotten and we didn't notice of course until we got home..we were given an apology..my husband had to drive back for my plate. ..my husband's carne asada was not traditional and we won't be going back.
Did they run out of tomato sauce? This place is usually consistently good but my rice came out fluffy (yay!) but no flavor. Disappointed and may not come back.
