The best bbq and atmosphere around. Always friendly and helpful on the menu.
Wagon Train catered my kids birthday party for the past two years (ribs, pulled pork, chicken, brisket, mac n cheese, potato salad, macaroni salad, rice & beans, and corn bread). Wonderful both times. Danielle is easy to work with and gets right back to you. Food was fantastic. Food was ready and hot out of the oven at pick up. Everyone loved the food. Will continue to use them again and again.
My wife and I have been meaning to check this place out for a while now and finally had the chance recently. Our 4-year old son and 3-month old son were with us, and we were impressed by how quickly the food came out. They were also very accommodating to our kids, which we really appreciated. I got the pulled pork sandwich and it was probably the best pulled pork sandwich I've ever had (meat cooked just right, flavor was great, etc.). We also really enjoyed all the decor, and that really kept our 4-year old entertained! Prices were very reasonable as well.
We just used Wagon Train to cater our engagement party. I worked directly with Danielle, and she was beyond helpful on guiding us to how much of everything we should order. I also have food allergies that she was more than willing to find out more info about. We ordered wing, pulled pork, brisket, chicken and corn bread and everyone at our party loved all of it! Personal favorite was the pulled pork!!
Really good pulled pork. Nice and tender. Might try the challenge one day lol
Neat decor, good food, fast friendly service
We love this place. The staff is great. Nikki, Rachael and Michelle are always great. The food has always been pretty good but has actually gotten better/ more consistent over the last 5-7 years. I would recommend changing frenchfries but am a fan of the food. Wyatt Earp burger is a great choice, anything brisket or burnt ends is always good.
Excellent little restaurant with a pretty decent sized menu. It's a little bit on the pricier side, but they do a great job with their meats! Their beef brisket was especially good.
Best hot wings I have had in this area.
Wagon Train catered our wedding up in Lake George, and they did amazing! We had around 120 guests, and they provided all the appetizers and food. The buffet barbecue had the same high level of quality that a sit down meal in their restaurant has. So many of our guests complemented the food and wanted to go eat at Wagon Train. They were very accommodating--even providing accommodation for last-minute changes to our wedding. They provided so much food that our guests were able to take a lot home, and we had several Wagon Train meals the week after our wedding. Staff were very friendly, and they were even able to bus tables after the buffet was done. We would highly recommend Wagon Train to anyone looking for a great meal, or for anyone wanting a large event catered!
Went right at opening time for a weekday brunch. Onion rings were crisp, oil was nice and clean. Burgers were the definition of medium and the buns were fresh. BBQ sauce is on the sweet side which is more of a heads up than a judgement. I love all sauces but my wife is picky (rightfully so). Inside is bonkers. I love it. It works so well. Staff was very friendly especially considering they had barley unlocked the door. Beer selection was a good choice for maximum appeal. If you live in the Capital Region and you've never been, you've driven past it a million times probably. Get over there.
My wife and I stopped here for the first time this past weekend and were greeted with smiles, hospitality and a unique decor that can keep you busy for hours just exploring. I did not have high expectations for the food as I have constantly found terrible BBQ in the Northeast. Best Hush Puppies I have ever had!!! The ribs and chicken were both very good. I asked for them naked and was pleased that they were not crusted in a rub that was not to my liking. Really enjoyed the spicy BBQ sauce, and I typically hate all BBQ sauce. For desert.........a banana upside down cake that was the most decadent desert I have had in years. We will be back to try other items.
So glad we found this place. Amazing staff, food, and crazy cool atmosphere. Can't wait to go back. Recommend Rodeo Chicken sandwhich. House BBQ sauce was super tasty.
The staff is so kind. The food was greatttt. Huge portions too
They assembled the perfect catering to-go order for my family reunion. Danielle was very helpful in helping me to assemble a menu and accommodating on the pickup time even though it was outside of their normal restaurant hours. Everything was meticulously packaged for easy transport, and the food was a big hit! This is the first time I've hosted an event without having to play Fridge Tetris with leftovers!
Great food friendly waitress and a passionate chef what more can you ask for? Very cool atmosphere as well.
These burgers will rock your world. Their bbq sauce is phenomenal and I love the decor. One of the best spots I've ever eaten at in my 15 years of living in upstate NY.
Great bbq, service and atmosphere. The place is homey and inviting.
The place was very busy and they have 2 servers so be very kind to your server! Food was delicious!
Always a delicious experience! We catered my sons graduation party with platters of pulled pork, pulled chicken, eggplant Parm, and other items. The food was delicious and super fresh. Everyone raved about how good it was ! Always recommend this place!
I love the wings here. All the smoked meat is awesome, wings are Fire. The potato and macaroni salad is ehh, in my opinion. But the meats are fire
Amazing service and very kind servers. The atmosphere is great. We brought our toddler they were great with him.
Now THIS is some real bbq! Every dish we tried was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor and tenderness. The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, with a perfect smoke ring and a savory bark. Cornbread was great too, just the perfect amount of moist. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, and the Annie Oakley burger was AMAZING. I even ordered a pulled pork sandwich to go and I’m so glad I did!! My only complaint was the strawberry cheesecake slice wasn’t great, definitely seemed just like the generic store bought slices with artificial strawberries on top. But that’s not bbq so I can’t really hold them accountable for that. Restaurant is extremely clean and filled with very pleasant and attentive staff! Will definitely be returning for more!
Loved it! Best BBQ joint ive ever been to, and ive tried alot. Very original for decorations, will definately keep everyone occupied looking at all the cool western theme. Staff was helpful and nice too, always a plus when you have kids. Prices were reasonable and helpings were huge...so delicious!
Omg the coleslaw is freaking delicious. Best in the area! BBQ was also delicious. My first time there so I sampled some. Brisket is cut thin, which is not my preference, but it was smoked beautifully. Pulled pork and burnt ends were my favorite. Their BBQ sauce is really good too. Definitely coming bsck in the future. I love BBQ and try every place I find.
Well done ,wonderful atmosphere,(fits the motif). The food was delicious , with a slight smokey flavor for the barbeque foods with I believe a Kansas sauce. Friendly service and accommodating for as busy as it was. Free beverage refills,Lots of parking. If I ever find my way through Rotterdam NY I will definatlly be back.
1000/1000 would recommend!!! I had the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw, cornbread & extra BBQ sauce. My boyfriend had a pulled rib sandwich with French fries, cornbread & extra BBQ. This place was AWESOME. Any reviews saying they're "bland" are totally out of this world. The meat was so tender and juicy, the BBQ was extra tangy and delicious. The French fries were super crispy and the coleslaw was super good and crisp. You could tell the food was made with love. We liked the food so much we forgot to take a before photo! The atmosphere was super cool and definitely BBQ-esk. Clean, waitstaff was Very nice and attentive. Would absolutely go again! Prices were very good for quality of food!
What a great experience. I came here for the Grave Yard Burger and it didn't disappoint. It had great flavor and was loaded with tons of toppings. Pulled pork, beef brisket, cole slaw, bacon, cheese and Jalepeno. I opted not to get the two fried eggs that typically are part of it. Five and a half pounds of food with the included fries and onion rings. My server, Katie was very personable, friendly, and efficient. Well worth the ride. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate this 9.2.
Friendly staff. Great tasting food. Lots of dinner options.
Amazing atmosphere! Old guns, taxidermy and a real wood burning fireplace. Amazing food! Kinda expensive but if you’ve got a hankerin’ for barbecue come an get your fix here!
I loved the food and the atmosphere, the burger and fries had a delicious homemade taste and were some of the best I've ever had. Hats off to the chef 👍
Great BBQ, very attentive and friendly staff. We got there mid/late afternoon, sat right down. There was a line waiting when we left. Southern/country western atmosphere. Lots to look at inside and out.
Stopped in for Valentine's dinner. Very attentive staff. Very warm and cozy setting. Burgers were fantastic! Will be coming back to take on the graveyard burger challenge!
We just went tonight for their restaurant week special and it was outstanding!!! So much delicious food for an amazing price! We love wagon train and we are happy we were able to get back there and enjoy it again! We would recommend this place over and over - if you want good quality BBQ - go here!!!! No matter what you order - you’ll love it! Can’t say enough amazing things about it! Yummy!!!
I love the wagon train burger. Best burger this side of town. Thick patty and the toppings are perfect. I wouldn't mind a better French fry. We do enjoy the decorations and staff is always so kind.
This is one of the nicest BBQ places that I have ever been to great view on the inside lots of things on the walls 🧱 😀 stuff animals especially guns etc but loved the experience and the food good verity of BBQ food and friendly service this place is my go to for lunch when I'm in area 😀 looking forward to going back try the tombstone burger 🍔 😀
We unintentionally stumbled across Wagon Train more than three years ago and were thrilled by our experience. Now we make it a point to stop every time we’re on our way to visit family. We just brought a big group here after a trip together and everyone was wowed by the food and atmosphere. Service is also always great. Facility (including bathrooms) are always clean. Highly recommend the ribs and burnt ends!
Yummy food, great service. I'm from Texas so I'm picky about BBQ. We came because we had the pup with us and we read reviews saying they let dogs hang out in the outdoor dining area - unfortunately when we arrived we found out they no longer have an outdoor dining area, BUT they let us bring her in and just sat us where we wouldn't be too close to any other patrons so she didn't bug anybody, which was a huge help. The food was great and the staff was super friendly. They also had several gluten free options which was great. We were just in town for a vacation but will definitely return if in the area again!

We were on our way up from NYC to the ADK and parked across the street to charge the car and wanted something to eat. As soon as I walked in I knew it was going to be great—the smell of hickory smoke and the unique decor. I had the grilled chicken sandwich, and my husband had the burnt ends sandwich, both were absolutely delicious, and affordable! This will now be a staple travel stop for us. Highly recommend!
We used Wagon Train for my husband’s surprise 60th birthday party, and I can’t say enough good things about the experience! From the start, they were incredibly friendly, quick to respond to my email, and so accommodating—even with our last-minute requests. The whole pig roast was absolutely amazing! We picked it up and it was ready right on time, just as promised. It was cooked to perfection—the skin was beautifully crisp and golden, and the meat inside was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Wagon Train helped make our celebration unforgettable, and I would highly recommend them for any and all of your party or event needs!
The burgers that we had were so good. The bbq sauce that they use in the nachos is delicious and you can use as much or little as you want on your food. Super dog friendly! They brought a bowl of water and we ordered a burger patty for her meal. We were allowed to have her inside with us.
It was our first time here & it did not disappoint!! My wife got the pulled rib sandwich & said it was delicious!! I got the 2 meat platter(1/2 rack & brisket) both were fantastic especially the ribs!! The service was top notch, our server checked on us regularly!! The decor is also very cool, we will definitely be back!!
Rustic little place not too far off from the thruway. The food was amazing. Everything tasted homemade. Bought a bottle of their BBQ sauce and a couple slices of their homemade cheesecake to take home with us. Only downside is that they are 2 hours from where I live. I'll definitely make a point to stop here again. Maybe even make a special trip just to eat here again!
Awesome Western Themed BBQ spot. The outside is decorated with lots of fun Old West themed ornaments and statues and the inside has even more. Cowboy statues, stuffed animals and guns galore. It is really an amazing atmosphere. Our waitress was very friendly and recommended a few of her favorites. We ended up getting the BBQ Rib sandwich and the burnt ends sandwich. Both were AMAZING! The meat was tender and the sauces were delicious. Each came with a choice of a side and a piece of cornbread. We had the Mac and cheese and sweet potato fries. The Mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. They also have meat by the pound to go. From Baby Back Ribs, to pulled pork, and beef brisket. We came on a whim while driving through Albany heading up Route 87 but we will definitely be back next time we're in the area. Stop by if you're in the area. You won't be disappointed. 🙂
Food was delicious. Appetizers a bit expensive for what you get.
The collard greens were excellent and my husband said the fried fish was excellent. My brisket sandwich was exceedingly fatty. While I know brisket is not a lean meat, over 1/2 of the meat was not edible. The sweet potato fries and onion rings were also nicely done. We ordered our meals to go and they forgot to include forks. Not a big deal if it is going home with you, but we were eating as we traveled. The wait staff consisted of 2 people who were busting their a****s with a full restaurant and a healthy amount of take away orders so I forgive the slip up on the forks. They were efficient and friendly. Way to go, waitstaff. The kitchen had lots of people working. It was in open view of the register so I was able to observe. Sadly, I saw several large containers of commercial BBQ sauces. That left me wondering if any of theirs is house made? I would surely hope so if you are a BBQ restaurant! Decent place to eat if you are in Schenectady and want some good food.
Dishes can be excellent, and have usually been in the past. On my most recent trip, though, the collard greens were way too spicy (not descibed so) and the Smoked Burnt Ends of Beef Brisket had no taste at all. Worth a try.
Stopped in here by pure chance. I was in the area for work and had 2 hours to kill. The food was good, the service was good. Prices were adequate. However if I were not working I would have needed a cocktail which was not available ( only beer & wine). The decor with possibly hundreds of old guns was quite amazing to look at. Would definitely stop in again next time I'm in town.
Great barbecue taste. Good collard greens. The worse mac and cheese ...no flavor. But overall good meal. Burnt ends not southern style. Chicken was good.
I can't give this place 5 stars. The food was good. I especially enjoyed the collard greens, burnt ends and the what they call settlers beans. They get five stars. The rest of the food was okay. This place needs a bar. Have some events there like trivia night. It could be so much more than what it is.
Nice location .. went here for a late lunch / snack and it was good . 👍 there is also a Tesla charger close by for whoever wants to eat a quick meal as your car is charging . The ambience was different and I liked it a lot . Gave a country feeling and some of the decors inside was awesome ! Beer was nice and cold . They had few beers on tap . Service was good . I just ordered some onion rings and it was average . Was a bit oily but tasted good . Couldn’t eat the whole order .. restrooms are clean and good. Price wise it was ok.. 4 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
We came here on a Sunday afternoon. We were greeted by a wonderful hostess/waitress. The service was quick, the building is filled to the brim with charm and knock knacks. Our food came out quickly and it was hot and fresh. Meats were all delicious, cornbread moist and fluffy. Chicken was a tad on the dry side but nothing that took away from the rest of the meal! We were happy with our decision to stop at this gem! - try the Mac salad, it’s great!
Interesting spot, carny vibe of the old west, similar to the eatery served at fairgrounds. The food was decent, but somehow missed the mark. I was surprised that the barbeque sauce had to be put on the pork and chicken that was served plain. You get one side of your choice and a small serving of cornbread. It was good, and the place was clean. I would come back again based on the excellent service we had.
This place was pretty good. The meat was fork tender. We got the meat lovers eggrolls, the kid's chicken bites, Wyatt Earp burger, and the grilled rodeo chicken sandwich. The barbecue sauce was absolutely amazing. They were out of a few things on our visit but the temp and taste of the food was good to warm us up on the day we went it was almost 3°. Thank you for the delicious lunch!
Food was just ok but the friendly service and awesome interior make up for it. Good parking lot and maybe 10 tables inside
Pros: seating was very fast, food was brought to us very quickly, ribs were good, chicken was good, corn bread was good Cons: my Mac and cheese was quite disappointing Whole story: I'd give four stars if not for my Mac and cheese. It was rather bland, which isn't that big of a deal as I could have added to it(salt, pepper, BBQ sauce, hot sauce etc), but it was also almost room temperature. It had clearly been sitting out for quite some time. Service was great, we were seated immediately and our food came quickly. My ribs and chicken we're good, not "great" but definitely good and I would definitely order them again. Corn bread was good, not dry(most common problem) but I did think it a bit odd that the top was dry, no butter or honey butter or anything like that. I would come here again, but I'd probably try maybe potatoes or a vegetable instead of the Mac and cheese.
Average BBQ restaurant, ribs were good, "burnt ends" were the worst I've had.
Food was amazing! service wasn’t the best the waitress wasn’t the nicest and took a while to even get an order placed but it was sort of busy so as expected!
Overall a pretty disappointing experienced. The food has good taste but for the price point it was very underwhelming. The brisket was dry and really fatty. The majority of the slices were fat. As for the ribs they were very flavorful but also dry. Was expecting juicy bbg for price and reviews
I ordered a beef brisket sandwich and fries. I was quite disappointed. The fries were tasteless and limp -- like frozen fries that had been in the oven only long enough to warm them -- and the meat was tender and juicy, but pretty tasteless.
I found the meats at this BBQ spot to be somewhat lacking compared to other places I've visited. The restaurant wasn’t as busy as other BBQ joints, which was a bit of a red flag for me. If you're looking for a quick sandwich, this could work for you. However, I wouldn’t recommend it for a nice meal out. I’m giving it 3 stars mainly because it's conveniently located next to a Tesla supercharger, making it a good stop when I need to charge up. I do enjoy the burnt ends sandwich, which I thought was decent, so I may return for that.
Just had this place for the first time. My husband ordered medium burger and got more rare than medium. My fries were very “floppy” and tasted uncooked all the way. Mac and cheese was meh. Not a great first impression….. maybe just an off night 🤷🏻♀️
Good atmosphere: nicnaks, cowboy statues and such all about, but not over crowded. Always nice servers. The food is just more miss than hit. The few times I've tried the ribs, they have a black bark, and drier than a popcorn fart (it even came wrapped in plastic wrap one time, like they were trying ANYTHING to keep the moisture in). The Brisket has decent flavor from the rub, but not very tender or smokey (could use a few more hours wrapped in butcher paper back on the smoker). The pulled pork is the best meat here, pork butt being the easiest meat to BBQ, it had a good rub, tender, but very mild smoke flavor. The chicken isn't as good as Brook's BBQ, but still a decent representation of NY style BBQ chicken. The sides are either awful or amazing. They've had sweet potato sides that are always good (never tried the fries though), potato sides in general from here are good. The Mac and cheese is bland with soggy noodles, the cornbread is dry and bland (tastes like the box mix without anything special added), but the worst side is the greens. It's like they boiled collards and celery in plain water, then tossed in the dry, burnt BBQ ends without any salt or seasoning added. Definitely don't spend $70 for the Cowboy plate! Get a pulled pork sandwich, maybe a half chicken if you don't want to drive out to Oneonta for Brook's. Also kind of annoying they always forget to put BBQ sauce on the side if you ask for it when getting take out. Unfortunately Price Chopper has better brisket, ribs, and the same corn bread for 1/8th the price.
Huge disappointment. My burger was soggy and falling apart. They charged us almost 9 dollars for a small scoop of macaroni and cheese that my two-year-old wouldn’t even eat. Way overpriced for the quality. Won’t ever go back there. Huge rip off.
I've really been looking forward to trying this place, and going by their hours online, they should be opened. We just drove 45 minutes to get here, and there's a sign on the door that says they'll be open at 4pm. Not coming back. This is very irresponsible as a business. At least post the hours online if they're gonna change, so people don't waste their time!!!
Stopped in for the first time during lunch. I initially asked for water but it tasted so gross I had to switch to a Pepsi. Food was okay but portions were a bit underwhelming for the price of $28. I had the pulled pork sandwich and bowl of brisket combo. Brisket was not tender or flavorful. My girlfriend also ordered a $28 combo but asked to substitute a pulled pork sandwich for a bowl of brisket. They instead gave her a brisket sandwich with little meat on it for additional $4. In total, our entrees together cost $60. When it came time to pay I asked the woman at the counter if there was a 2.56% surcharge for credit cards like it said on the receipt. She told me incorrectly that they no longer charge a surcharge, so I decided to use my credit card to get points. I could have easily paid with cash or debit. After looking at my customer copy I saw they did add the 2.56% surcharge. When I made the woman aware of this she told me there’s nothing she can do about it and just apologized for giving me incorrect information. I likely will not be returning.
Not even real BBQ. You cannot smell it at all driving by. Not like Memphis king or dino bbq. Those you can smell. This is obviously fake
Extremely, extremely overpriced. I'll stick to Memphis BBQ where it's not $25 for a burger.
The meats there is no good . It has no taste . Imagine brisket supposed to be tasty but that’s not the case there.
This restaurant offers a 5lb burger challenge with sides that costs $70 and you have 30 min to complete, if failed you pay and end up on wall of shame...500 people have failed this. Maybe the owner and staff should sit down and force themselves to complete this challenge in 30 minutes to see if it's possible for others or is this just an advertising gimmick to get people to attempt then pay $70? There are very few winners of this challenge who only get a t shirt.
I ordered a full rack of ribs.and a cheeseburger for my young son. I think the rack came from a suckling pig. It was so small and cut in half to portray a full size rack. . It was more like a half of a rack. Very disappointed. Then my son took 2 bites of the the burger and wouldn’t eat it. It was very dry and not good at all. I expected much better quality especially for $60. I never write reviews especially negative ones. This is seriously not the spot for barbecue.
Stopped by recently and was very disappointed. Got the burnt ends sandwich and I've cooked and eaten my fair share of burnt ends and this was not brisket. I got chuck roast burnt ends and they weren't even simmered in a sauce. I got large chunks of excessively fatty chuck roast The half chicken tasted like it just came out of the oven. No smoked flavor. I had high hopes with the reviews and rating but it didn't even come close
We’ve lived in the area for seven years and have given this restaurant four chances, hoping to love it since it’s so close to our house. Unfortunately, it hasn't lived up to our expectations. On our initial visit, we dined in and noticed a very western atmosphere, complete with guns adorning the walls, but a thick layer of dust hovering above us as we ate. Most recently, we called as soon as they opened to order chicken wings, but they were very dry—seemed like they might have been from the day before. The mac & cheese was bland, almost reminiscent of buffet quality. It’s disappointing because we would love a reliable spot nearby, but we won't be returning. Hopefully, they can improve in the future!
I ordered delivery. Delivery was prompt and above average, the food on the other hand. I ordered the Brisket sandwich, baked beans, and potato salad. The Brisket was a , flavorless rubbery sauceless mess and tasted like it was made in the oven. The baked beans were a 3, smokey but flavorless. The potato salad tasted like it was store bought. The cornbread was the best part and it was a 3.5. I wish I could give this place a negative.
Was recommended to try this place out, i placed an order for pickup and when i got home I realized I didn’t have everything I ordered. No big deal, drove back and called to let them know I was missing two side meats and on my way back. They were completely RUDE and told me they know for a fact they put everything in my bag, I was in shock with the way they were speaking to me. The manager gets on the phone and tells me she needs to watch the cameras because they know they put it in there Like HUHHHHHHH!?!? When I got there, they opened my bag to examine it as if they thought I was lying. Then one of workers said oops there were two orders with the same name and they switched the bags by accident. I didn’t even get an apology!!! Will never return to this garbage establishment. Unbelievable how they treat there costumers.
