This place absolutely blew my mind! The quality of everything was top notch! The waiter made everything sound perfect, the bartender even participated in designing a custom drink for me. Every plate we got was a piece of art. The two favorites of mine were the Spanish beef and the 28 layer lasagna. Everything about this place is perfect.

With my parents spending their last week in the USA before heading back, I wanted to make sure we created some special memories, and this dinner turned out to be a perfect choice. We started with the herb-grilled octopus and Calabrian shrimp as appetizers. The octopus was beautifully tender with a nice char, and the shrimp had just the right depth of flavor to wake up the palate. For pastas, we tried the gigli and tajarin cacio e pepe. The tajarin was comforting, rich, and perfectly balanced. The gigli could have been a bit creamier, but honestly, it didn’t take away from enjoying the flavors—it was still satisfying and well-executed. For the main, we shared the half brick-grilled chicken, which was juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right—simple, rustic, and done well. Apparently, the best way to enjoy it is by making small taco-style bites using the chicken along with all the sides and tortillas Dessert was the perfect ending: the tangerine tart was bright and refreshing, while the butterscotch budino was indulgent, smooth, and comforting. Overall, a fantastic meal with great food, making it a special evening and a lasting memory for my parents’ visit. Would definitely return.

Compared to other restaurants at a similar level, the service wasn’t particularly outstanding, but the food was mostly satisfying and the atmosphere was very nice. We especially appreciated the complimentary sorbet to celebrate our anniversary, which was a thoughtful gesture. For that reason, we’re happy to give this place a 5 star rating.

Fat Ox delivers on all fronts. The ambience is polished but relaxed—upscale without feeling stuffy. The food is genuinely tasty, well-executed, and thoughtfully plated, and the service is dialed in: attentive, knowledgeable, and not overbearing. It’s the kind of place that feels worth the hype and the reservation.

Definitely our new favorite in Scottsdale! We only booked this place initially because it’s part of CSR’s curated restaurants to use our credit. We got one appetizer, two pasta (cacio e pepe and mafeldine), the swordfish and the salmon and they were all absolutely delicious. They also gave us a complimentary dessert for our birthday. Phenomenal customer service and food. We definitely recommend this place.

Fat Ox is a great spot for a fancy dinner. My husband absolutely loved his garganelli, and I really enjoyed the appetizers: especially the meatballs and the steak tartare. The tangerine tart dessert was excellent and a perfect finish to the meal. We’re not sure what happened in the kitchen, but we were mistakenly served both the polenta cacio e pepe and the extra cacio e pepe pasta dish. Between the two, I would definitely recommend the polenta, incredibly creamy and full of flavor. Overall, a very good dining experience with delicious dishes and a refined atmosphere.

Fat Ox offers a really stellar dining experience. The staff are all very friendly and attentive, but not intrusive. The menu has many delectable option. The restaurant itself provides many different settings for a quiet date night, al fresco dining, group dining, or any kind of dining experience you might be looking for. I had an early reservation and the restaurant was very busy. I highly recommend getting a reservation and sticking to your time! Overall I would come back here many times over. For future diners: The restaurant offers free valet parking. Skip the wagyu carpaccio, it didn't have much flavor. Ask for Gabby! Incredible service and super friendly.

Steak was tender and flavorful. The seabass was above average, a little on the small size and could have less salt. Overall is great first time at Fat Ox.

I’ve been to Arizona twice this year and it’s rare for me to prioritize going back to a restaurant I’ve already been to versus trying some place new, but Fat Ox is delicious. I also loved my server. By coincidence had the same server both times. I forget her name, maybe Skyler? But she makes my experience great every time!

We drive from Wickenburg, Arizona to Scottsdale and experience great food, and service. One of our favorite restaurants is Fat Ox. Absolutely amazing food and service. Tonight we had Gabby for our server. Such a sweet young lady. She added to the great food and atmosphere! Pictures to follow!

Had a large group for dinner. Family style was great and gave the opportunity to try multiple dishes. Veal meatball appetizer was amazing! Scallops, ribeye, and stone chicken were great entrees

We had a fantastic time dining at Fat Ox. I had the branzino and my girlfriend had the gargenelli. Everything was delicious! Great atmosphere, great vibe, and fantastic food and service!

Fantastic experience would recommend. Our server was Joel and he gave good recommendations and was on top of taking care of us. Our water was constantly refilled, plates were cleared and reset, and our dishes came quickly. We ordered the veal meatballs, burrata DOP, Caesar salad, beef cheek gnocchi, garganelli, and butterscotch budino. Everything was super good. Stand outs were butterscotch budino (must order- to die for), both the pastas were very good, and the Caesar salad was fresh and tangy. Only bad things were our table was not my favorite, just small and not in a memorable location and the parking was insane. But would recommend for amazing food and top notch service!

We had an absolutely incredible experience at The Fat Ox! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was welcoming and elevated, but what truly made the night special was our waiter, JJ. He provided exceptional service: attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. When he found out we were celebrating our anniversary, he surprised us with complimentary wine and a dessert, which made the evening feel extra special and thoughtful. The food was nothing short of amazing. The dry-aged steak was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor, and the scallops were phenomenal: easily a 10/10. Every bite was memorable. Thank you to JJ and the entire team at The Fat Ox for making our anniversary dinner so unforgettable. We can’t wait to come back!

Flavors were spot-on. However, the experience was severely marred by poor value and pushy service. The portions were small overall, and the price is very expensive. Compounding this, our server kept insisting we order more items. We reluctantly ordered more under pressure and ended up with lots of expensive leftovers, which was frustrating. While the taste was good, the combination of the very high price and the server's insistence makes this a frustrating and expensive dining experience!

Fat Ox in Scottsdale delivered a great Italian-inspired dining experience, though there were a couple of drawbacks. The restaurant has a sleek, moody atmosphere, but it was so dark that it was difficult to read the menu. The entire dinner ended up taking close to two hours, which felt longer than we expected. That said, the food itself was delicious. I had the steak filet with gravy and potatoes, it was tender and flavorful. My boyfriend ordered the half brick chicken, which came with a generous amount of protein and was very satisfying. Overall, it was a good experience, but we did wish the service was a bit quicker.

The food was absolutely amazing. But the service was very slow. They did try to make up for it though by offering us free dessert. Total dinner experience took 2.5 hours, even after providing them the complete food order up front. The dining room was extremely loud, very difficult to hear or have conversations. It was also extremely cold. We ended up going to the patio, where it was perfectly quiet and actually warmer because of the heaters.

So - overall a good restaurant, but a very, very expensive meal for 4. 3 of us had two drinks through dinner, and we each had a pasta dish, a dinner, and 3 desserts. At the end, with tip, we were a little over $650.00!! Be aware, it is a pricey meal. We sat outside (only options for the open table reservation was either bar or outside) though the restaurant wasn't full. Not a problem, except it was cold outside and the heater didn't work. Pasta's - had the parmesan wrapped noodles with pepper and just nothing but pepper (no parmesan taste, and no complexity to the dish). 27 layer lasagna was good, with nice contrasts. Had 3 filets and a shortrib meal - filets were fine but nothing spectacular, and the shortrib was fork tender but bland. Desserts were fine as well, as well as the drinks, but nothing much above "pretty ordinary" while being chilly almost the whole night! Servers were outstanding - helpful with food choices, and information (although multiple attempts at fixing the heater yielded nothing and there were several others that were close and not being used...). For 50-60% of the money, this would have been fine restaurant and a good outcome - but $150+ per person just seemed too high for what we got overall!

We ordered the burrata, mushrooms, beef cheeks gnocchi, and short ribs, and tiramisu, and were very disappointed with the flavors. The burrata was the best of the bunch, but we found the accompanying apple cubes and sauce to be way too sweet and overpowering, so we had to eat around it. The rest were just okay - nothing great or memorable. The flavors were just not there, and I could've probably cooked each of these dishes better at home. The short rib was the most disappointing of all, as it was very stringy in texture and one dimensional in taste. In the end, we were not at all impressed by this place, and would not recommend it.

We came here once before while in town and decided to give it another try, thinking maybe our first visit was just an off night. Unfortunately, this visit wasn’t any better. The interior is very nice and the bar area is impressive. It looks like the kind of place that should deliver a great dining experience. But the service was again disappointing. Our server was barely attentive, we had to ask for drink refills, and the table right next to us received constant attention while we were largely ignored. The difference in service was noticeable and uncomfortable. On top of that, the upselling felt persistent and pushy. The food didn’t make up for it. Portions are small for the price — paying $45+ for a tiny piece of plain salmon feels unreasonable. The lasagna was flavorless, and a side dish we ordered didn’t arrive until toward the end of our meal, long after it made sense to have it. Overall, it’s a great-looking restaurant, but the service, food, and value don’t come close to matching the atmosphere. We really wanted to like this place after giving it a second chance, but it still fell short.
