Now I am aware there more than one locations of Jacks BBQ, however this one is the only one that counts and the only one that reminds me of home. The only thing missing from this place is a floor to square dance at and a mechanical bull, otherwise this is my home of the great state of Texas. The look and the oviaince ain't the only that reminds me of the State the food is exactly on par. They even make their own smoke sweet tea. The smoke brisket is tender and the ribs are always in no need of sauce. Although if you are a sauce person Jacks makes a good sauce which they also sell. Since I'm a southerners myself it reassuring that this is the only place that I know of where you can attain peach cobbler! So if you want true Texas BBQ go to SODO to Jack's BBQ 5 stars.
We ordered Jack’s smoked turkey hot and ready for pickup on Thanksgiving morning. The turkey was amazing! Moist, flavorful, and surprisingly big. It fed about 16 people with leftovers to spare. When we carved into it, about two hours after pickup, it was still warm. We also tried the pecan pie, though it was a bit too sweet for our taste. Highly recommend Jack’s if you want a memorable Thanksgiving turkey!
This place is a must try bbq place in seattle or surrounding areas. Asa was a great server and everything came fast but left us alone to eat as well. Food was exceptional, chili is the best ive had and the banana pudding is to die for! Everything else was of coarse delicious. Hefeweizen beer was a perfect touch to the dinner as well.
We visited Jack’s BBQ Steakhouse in Seattle and were very impressed. The meat quality was excellent, and the steaks were cooked perfectly—juicy, flavorful, and tender. The atmosphere is cozy, and the service is friendly and attentive. A great place to enjoy a delicious meal and a good time. Highly recommend!
It started with the service. Our waiter was energetic, funny, and attentive. He brought us out menus and told us a bit about the history of Jack's and their mammoth smoking pit. He got us our drinks and talked us through the menu. I ordered the pork ribs with collard greens and queso mac & cheese for sides. Everything was first rate. My wife ordered the Cobb salad, and rated it one of the best she ever had. I think we have found a new favorite place! Thanks Jack's! Update: We have gone to Jack's for our last two birthday celebrations. My wife chose to go there for the Cobb salad, I chose to go there for more carnivorous pursuits.
Jack’s BBQ was delightful! I had the two-meat platter with pulled pork and brisket — absolutely delicious. The server was kind and attentive, and I loved the welcoming, cozy environment. Overall, it was a really enjoyable visit.
We recently visited here as a family of 4 from England. From the outside it looks like just a small shack, surrounded by people parking cars and walking in and out with food boxes. When we got inside, however, its quite big and designed exactly how you would imagine a smokehouse. We were seated quite quickly. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich with Mac and Cheese, a cheese burger and the Texas Trinity (ribs, brisket, sausage, mash and fries) to share. It was arguably the best food we've eaten in a bbq smokehouse. The food was tender and not too smoked. I highly recommend trying here if you are in the area.
Another fantastic experience at Jack's flagship restaurant in Sodo. Mariah absolutely made our evening with her hospitality, friendliness, and great recommendations, and Wendy and Cristina were wonderfully hospitable and helpful as well. Big fan of this wonderful restaurant for many years now, and I always make sure to bring new folks so they can enjoy experiencing Jack's, too. Cheers!
We love Jack’s BBQ all year round, but a few years back decided to make it our thanksgiving tradition. They never disappoint! We always have leftovers and I am already excited to make turkey soup and turkey shepherds pie!
The restaurant was recommended by a coworker. I went in during lunch time and it had many patrons, but there were tables available, letting me know it's a popular place. The server was great and made very good recommendations about what to eat. The food was phenomenal! High praise to the mashed potatoes and the seasonal green beans; they were the highlight. The ribs were incredible and the brisket was good, but the jalapeño cheddar link was the most memorable to me. The sauces complimented the meats very well and the fixings were a must to enhance the flavors. I will return in the future and bring family and friends. Worth the trip, as it was a bit out of the way from the office.
Yummy bbq!! Perfect for big groups, attentive service. Food is exceptional. Drinks are average. But will come back for the bbq for sure.
Jack’s BBQ in Seattle is a true gem! The food was absolutely delicious — every bite was packed with flavor, and the portions were generous, making it well worth the visit. The atmosphere was inviting and vibrant, with a great mix of casual and cozy that made for a perfect dining experience. What truly made our visit exceptional, however, was the service. Asa, our server, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and taken care of. His friendliness and attention to detail were exactly what you hope for when dining out. It’s rare to get such personalized, thoughtful service, and it made the experience even more memorable. I can’t recommend this place enough — great food, amazing service, and an overall wonderful experience!
Great place for BBQ meats. Good for big groups as well. Staff were great.
Wow, what an awesome BBQ spot! Our whole group is from Texas, so we’ve got high standards, and Jack’s totally delivered. The BBQ was on point, and the sides? Next level—mac & cheese, cornbread, turnip greens, and cornbread pudding were all so good. We started with the fried pickle jar as an appetizer, and it did not disappoint. For the main course, we went with the $88 Picnic, and it easily fed six adults and four kids. But the real cherry on top was the service—Mike was amazing! Super helpful, friendly, and quick. Big thumbs up all around!
I had always wanted to try ribs in USA. Seen enough of food shows that proclaimed USA ribs are very good. So, i found this restaurant and took my family there We ordered a "Trinity" bbq plate. It consisted of Brisket, Ribs and Sausages. The Brisket was very soft and the amount of fat throughout the meat was well balanced. The ribs were charred nicely on the outside and soft on the inside. The sausages - one with cheese and one smoked were delicious. This main dish came with 2 sides - we ordered Gumbo and Garlic mash. There was complimentary - 2 slices of plain white bread (sadly no butter to go with it), some really strong pickles and some jalapenos. We also ordered an ice tea which just tasted sweet with no tea taste. We also ordered a pull pork burger which was delicious and my family loved the Mac N Cheese too. All in all a good experience. The meat were flavoursome and soft. Our waitress was very helpful. The atmosphere has a Texan deco and vibe.
I was working nearby and stopped in for lunch—great decision. The staff was friendly, the service was quick, and the food was excellent. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.
The best Texan BRISKET ever. Jake our servant did a great job tonight. Thank you.
Stooped by for an early lunch, 11am. Made a reservation the hawks game was on and the service and food absolutely amazing. Will definitely be back and bring my kids and family.
The service was absolutely amazing, and the food was not only authentic but also came in generous portions. I truly appreciate coming here—it was the best choice I could have made! A special shout-out to our waiter, Henry, who was incredibly caring, friendly, and attentive. He really made our visit extra special. Highly recommended!
Thursday is beef rib day. I think our eyes almost popped out of our heads when they delivered this massive 2lb beef rib! Talk about fall off the bone, smoky, melt in your mouth meaty perfection. Not cheap at $33/lb but definitely big enough to share and a memorable meal! We loved it! And they have a dog friendly patio☺️ 5/1/2025 So this beef rib has become a yearly tradition for us as an anniversary treat. This year we tried the buttermilk cornbread and all meat chili which were both 10/10. Cornbread had the right density and crumbliness with a hint of sweetness... The meat in the chili was tender and soft... No big chunks to chew, full of flavor and just the right amount of heat. We both agreed, the best chili we've ever had
If you love Texas Barbeque, please do yourself a favor and eat at Jack's BBQ. The food is phenomenal. I got the Brisket plate with Mac & Cheese and Chili, and I also got the Peach Cobbler. Every one of those dishes was phenomenal and had so much flavor. For my drink, I had an Arnold Palmer with smoked iced tea. The service was great, too. On their website they mention their southern hospitality, and they absolutely deliver on that. Overall, it was an excellent experience, and I'll definitely be back.
Ssssooooooo good!!! Some of the best collard greens I've ever had. Im visiting and lived in Texas, Arizona and Mississippi- so I'm a little picky on my southern food and BBQ. I'm always skeptical about brisket because it could be dry, even if a place is known for it- not this one! Super delicious and not too much fat cap. I ordered the spicy cesar, a pound of brisket, and a quart of collard greens (and I'll be here next weekend ordering another quart cause it's phenomenal). I also enjoyed a drink while waiting for my to-go. Bartender is super friendly and the drinks were also yummy. I want to say this will feed me for the week- but it will probably be gone by Tuesday 😀 they also have homemade pickles, but you have to ask for them (written on the menu)- also yummy and gone by the time I thought to take the photo. The Cesar portion is also HUGE and the bowl I have in the picture didnt make a dent in the overall to-go box..- that will most likely be the only thing to last till Friday.
Brisket Sandwich:** The brisket sandwich at Jack's BBQ was a delightful experience. The brisket itself was tender, juicy, and had a smoky flavor that was well-balanced and not overpowering. The sandwich was generously portioned, with enough meat to satisfy but not overwhelm. The accompanying barbecue sauce was rich and complemented the brisket beautifully, adding a tangy kick without being too sweet. The bread was fresh and sturdy enough to hold the brisket without getting soggy, making for a great overall texture. **Blue Chestnut Burgers:** The Blue Chestnut Burgers were another highlight. These burgers featured a unique combination of flavors, with the blue cheese adding a creamy, tangy element that paired wonderfully with the savory beef patty. The chestnut provided a subtle sweetness and crunch, creating a well-rounded flavor profile. The burgers were cooked to perfection, maintaining juiciness and flavor. The toppings especially chives were fresh, and the bun was soft yet held together well. The service at Jack’s BBQ was friendly and efficient. Our order was taken promptly, and the food arrived in a timely manner. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and offered helpful recommendations. Jack's BBQ delivered a satisfying meal with its standout brisket sandwich and creative Blue Chestnut Burgers. The combination of quality ingredients, excellent preparation, and friendly service made for a memorable dining experience. We look forward to our next visit to try more of their offerings. Would definitely recommend for BBQ lovers looking for a hearty and flavorful meal!
I love their service, they are always super friendly… but the brisket omg it’s mouth watering! It’s so delicious that I forgot to take a picture of it before I started digging in. The queso and chips is also so yummy. This time I was in a hurry so I only had the Caesar salad with brisket. I came all the way from Bellevue. I’m so excited for their new location opening up in Redmond in May! Can’t wait!
We had such a great experience and definitely plan on returning if we are back in town! I’m coming from out of state to visit family and this was the place that they said we HAD to try! Definitely was not expecting the food to be as good as it was! Service was terrific! Our waiter was training in a waitress and they were both really polite. They created such a pleasant experience for us and I can’t say enough good things about them. I also enjoyed the old doors that they used for decoration. I thought that was very creative and a great way to use the old doors instead of throwing them away. Now what did we order? We ordered the Picnic because we wanted to try a little bit of everything. Definitely worth it. We all got to try everything and we still had plenty of food to snack on later if we got hungry. If you can’t make a choice and you want to try everything then I would totally recommend ordering this as well. That way you can give everything a shot and see what you like best. I have photos attached of the picnic but unfortunately my family started to dig in before I could snap a picture. So to wrap up my thoughts, would I recommend this place to someone? YES. I do plan on returning when back in town. I found it to be a great environment to share a good meal with loved ones.
Minor tweaks to menu items. The Beans are no longer vegan, and have some pork meat in them. The Collards no longer have pork, but some beef rib meat in it. I don't remembet their 'Beef only, no beans' chili, but it is impressive. Deep dried chili flavor, could use a touch of heat adjustment, and there are plenty to choose from. Find a time when the parking lot isn't packed. Even then, they do an impressive job getting the customers taken care if, and the food out. Even for large work grouos, 10 top and bigger tables. Outdoor seating is covered from both the rain and sun. Easy access. As far as their award winning Pecan Pie goes... I'd prefer this portion sliced 5 ways. Trying to eat it with a spoon or fork sort of mangles it.
Jack's BBQ is the some of the best in the state of Washington! It's a small club since the PNW is not know for BBQ. This is Texas style BBQ, everything is smoked authentically, no liquid smoke used. They've expanded their menu to include steaks, fried chicken and catfish now which is great if you have a group of people with different dietary preferences. The portions are all shareable and the sides are just as delicious as the mains. Can't go wrong with any order here!
Where to begin because this is exceptional BBQ food. I haven't had this of good BBQ in a long time was about three years ago because there hasn't been a BBQ joint worth eating at. Last time I had the best was in Texas but then that is states away. Way better then Dave's BBQ which I wouldn't recommend, Dickey's BBQ or even Warthog BBQ. Jack's BBQ -SoDo they know what they are doing. Beef Brisket was super tender feels like it melts in your mouth the juices from it shows how tender it was. Ribes smoked to perfection. The hush puppies were good but the meat was the highlight. Best BBQ highly would recommend eating here. I definitely would come back to eat some fantastic BBQ. Super amazing customer service checked in I would say at good points throughout my dining experience. I am curious their Dr. Pepper was different taste then what I had expected in an odd but great way. Definitely can be loud with the other dinners but it's a BBQ restaurant so nothing much that could change.
Great smoke house diner. Tacos are very filling and delicious, I recommend the beef bacon! The nachos are amazing and huge. Decor is warm and inviting. Staff was friendly too. Large TV with sports on, bar, and kitchen. Excited to come back to try more of the menu.
My husband has taken some bbq class here and so I've gotten taste some pretty good brisket. Love the sides especially the Texas caviar and the cornbread. Hamburgers are made with the brisket. Not a fan of the sausages. Ribs are tender and really good with the smoke jalapeno bbq sauce. Service is always top notch!
The moment you walk in, it feels like you’ve stepped right into Texas! Great atmosphere and super friendly staff — our waiter even shared the story of the place, which made it feel personal and welcoming. I had the brisket sandwich with a side of beans and shared an extra side of coleslaw. Everything was really good — tender brisket, tasty beans, and fresh slaw. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to!
This stuff is super friendly like Texas style warmth and hospitality. Easygoing friendliness. Called on Friday about Dino Beef Ribs. In today’s age most restaurants give you the automated phone tree but no way to reach live person. After a brief automated greeting I was able to connect to a live host (John). He told me Dino Rivas are normally only sold on Thursdays but they still had one or two left. Fantastic! After enjoying my amazing meal a smooth, kind tall thin cowboy with a Dallas accent named Jack swung by my table and chatted with me in casual conversation. Came to find out he was Jack, the owner of the establishment. He made you feel valued as a customer and gave it a nice personal touch. Be ready though. This cut is not cheap. $37/lb and a bone weighs 1 to 2 lbs. very rich but the best! This is my favorite BBQ in Seattle PNW area.
I saw this place on tik tok and love bbq, so i gave it a chance. The food was incredible! the vibes were great and lived up to what was shown online. service was a bit slow and our waitress seems really grumpy, but we all have those days. Would come back again for sure.
My partner and I went before a show and had a great time. I cannot remember her name, but the gal taking care of us was absolutely wonderful. She want attentive, kind, and fun to talk to! I want to give a special shout out to their sweet tea and the queso- both amazing!
As I was driving by this morning, I noticed they were open for breakfast, so I decided to stop in on a whim. I wish I had taken the time to ask for the gentleman’s name, who was working the counter. He was a Hispanic fellow; extremely courteous and professional. When I asked him for any recommendations (as this was my first time visiting) he quickly pointed me to both the brisket breakfast tacos, as well as the bacon one. He even went as far as telling me what salsa he preferred to pair them with. The food itself was delicious! I’m usually not a fan of candied bacon, as for the most part I always find it to be overly sweet, but this one was perfect! Just a subtle hint of sweetness. The brisket was definitely my favorite; even in a breakfast taco where brisket is often masked by the other flavors, theirs stood out both for flavor and tenderness. Will definitely be back again to try out their dinner menu!
Hi, first time going to Jacks BBQ and it was ok :/ flavors were fine but nothing was very hot. My husbands corn was luke warm and so were my mashed potatoes. The brisket had a lot of fat on it and was dry, tasted like it was cooked a couple of days ago. Same with my ribs, tasted like they were made yesterday and heated back up. The chili had no beans, and again was not hot. But the flavors were good, the corn bread was wonderful. Services was good as well!
The food was flavorful and delicious but I have really bad spice tolerance making the sliced brisket (Dallas style) spicy but still bearable. I don’t know what Texas food tastes like but this a good first impression. Fries and Mac and Cheese was very good .
Meats are smoked on site, and have a very good, powerful flavor that was surprising and welcomed. Several appetizers to choose from, but we had to try the simplicity of Bacon lol it was perfect. At the time of our visit, I noted that the staff is very young and inexperienced, but they do make up for it with enthusiasm. Overall, it's great BBQ. This is the second Jacks location I have sampled. Parking was full, but after circling a few blocks we did find a place to park, but the busy 4 laner, with no center lane, and no crosswalks in sight, is dangerous. Just give yourself ample time to arrive.
Good food but depending on what you're getting, would recommend eating at the restaurant and not getting takeout. Trinity ranked: pork ribs, sausage, brisket—Ribs had smoky flavor and meaty texture, yum! Sausage was solid if that's your thing. Brisket was pretty good but was not as flavorful as the ribs, and part of what I got was kinda tough and bland. Greens were excellent, and the chili could be its own meal with how much meat was in it. The loaded fries were delicious. The cobbler was tasty, but I think it's probably only worth getting at the restaurant since the takeout portion is the same price but does not include the ice cream. Takeout was timely and well-packaged. I'd be interested to try the beef ribs and billionaire bacon to compare.
The steak special was exceptional, well seasoned NY cut and a good medium cook. I had grilled Brussel sprouts and chili, both very tasty. The March steak special drew me in as in the past I wasn't impressed with their ribs nor the side of greens I had. The steak dinner showed another side of Jack's and renewed my faith in their ability to serve good food. Service was good as well and place is clean and tidy too, another plus.
I had just finished a stay at an inn in Georgetown (Not DC) and hopped on the 124 Bus to Dwntwn Seattle and it stops to Let 2 college types on with Bags. Hold on…. is That Smoked Meats I’m smelling? STOP the BUS. I need that meat. Literally I Got Off..the bus and trampled back Luggage in Tow to What seems to be ‘the’ BBQ Spot in Seattle. Housed in a building That previously featured a 50 year running Italian Restaurant A Dive Bar and A Martini Taster. it was 12 noon and The Joint was Jumpin’ Cars pulling in and out and Lot Filled. With a Texas A&M based theme How could this go wrong? It doesn’t. I am pleased to State the Cue is Cuckoo Crazy. I opened the brisket Still warm after a 40 min Bus ride tasted then Devoured. With its thick Slice and serious Char Juicy yet Rubbed Down so perfectly I swiped the Left behinds on the paper with my Fingers licking. Then the pulled pork Pulled Up and I almost Took her out! The FLAVOR On the Smoke is truly tasty. Thorough and throughout. For a 1/4 lb I got the ‘hookup’ On the Ribs. Yes you would Think 2 Ribs isn’t a hookup. But you’d be Wrong Wrong. These Ribs include the Tips And Are USDA top notch for Sure. Tasty yet Not the Fall of the Bone, this is a Man Meal. So as I was leaving with Another Bag to add to My luggage issues I Perused a Piece of Cornbread that Called My Name…Literally it Seemed. I couldn’t resist If I wanted. Inevitability. The food was good not great. I went about 7 o’clock at night and I got a brisket with two links (one hot, one jalapeño cheddar) and two sides. The sides were cornbread and mac & cheese. The brisket was dry, so that was a bummer and the links were not plump. They were shrunk up in the casing, like they had been out for a while. The cornbread was unbelievable and the mac & cheese. I haven’t even tried yet. It was definitely not four stars, but it wasn’t three stars. This is my go to place in Seattle. It is what it is the service was phenomenal. The atmosphere is fantastic. It’s a great little barbecue place. I like it here.
The food was good. Ive been to just a few BBQ spot in and around the Seattle area. Jack's has been my favorite for a few reasons. The brisket was almost as good as Moose Creek. I appreciated that at Jack's you can sit and look at the menu and not feel rushed to order. It was also a win that your sides weren't separate. Your meal came with a choice of meat and 2 sides. I got the chili and queso Mac n cheese. Both were great. Our waiter Henry was great, his service 10 of 10.
The food here is ok. Just a little bit better than Famous Dave's with bigger portions. The Brisket, Jalapeño Cheese link, Hotlink, Mac & Cheese, and Mashed potatoes is 8 out of 10. Ribs 7 out of 10. Coleslaw and Pull Pork 5 out of 10. And the Collar Greens were inedible. Also $15 per 1oz Tito shot is ridiculous.
This place was good. The hush puppies were decent but could have used a little sweetness. The brisket was very good but the pork ribs lacked flavor and were fatty. I am hoping to go back sometime so I can try something else on the menu and maybe give the ribs a second chance?
Pretty good BBQ restaurant in SoDo. Lots of seating inside and a bar. Appears outside seating is no longer open. The BBQ was not really our style, good but not great. Hush puppies we really enjoyed. Potato salad was not great nor was macaroni and cheese. They have what they call wet brisket which we found to be more like a stew, we didn't like. They kindly gave us regular brisket at no charge. Perhaps a good choice if you like this style of BBQ.
Updated review 10/13/2025 They got me back in with a promotional “big dumper” mariner playoff tribute bbq sandwich. It’s a 1lb brisket sandwich with a hot link on top, pickled red onions and a dab of slaw on the bottom. It was a half off Monday special. Maybe they had left over brisket from the weekend? I ordered take out and let them know the last couple times I had been there the brisket had been dry and asked if I could maybe get a better/fresher cut which they were happy to accommodate. You can request “moist” which is getting the point cut of the brisket. At first glance the sandwich is massive mountain of brisket and it made sense to me to deconstruct it and eat the components separately. Before I did I decided to take a bite the way it was intended and I am sure glad I did. Something about the hot link, brisket, pickled onions and slaw just worked. The slaw didn’t make the bun soggy and the brioche bun held everything together. The whole was better than the parts separately. I ate some of the brisket on its own and it was a tad on the drier side on its own which was part of my original review. even though it was the point brisket vs the flat. I think they trim too much fat off of the point. I speculate there was a lot of brisket left over from Mariners playoff weekend. The Texas chili (no beans) was probably the best chili I’ve had here in seattle. I wish I had tried it sooner. My original review I normally based my bbq restaurant reviews on brisket and ribs. And it was when the restaurant first opened. Since then the menu has expanded, they’ve added steaks and a variety of other items. I think with scaling an having multiple locations has given them leverage to buy meats in bulk since I noticed most of the bbq plates on the menu showed great value and competitive with the seattle area. The pecan pie was also out of this world. Make sure to eat it with vanilla icecream since it is so rich. Although the brisket an ribs aren’t my favorite in seattle, I am confident you’ll find something tasty on the menu. I’m glad I came back to try this place again as I did not have a great experience the first couple times. The front of house staff was very friendly and accommodating. Original review when they first opened: The driest most overrated BBQ I’ve ever had in my life. Went twice and was disappointed both times. If you want real Texas bbq this isn’t it.
Came by and ate lunch today! Went to the bar and had great service and just chilling. Ate the chopped pork sandwich and it was great with collard greens to take home for later. Definitely had a Texas road house feel, served on metal trays with some extra jalapeño pepper slices.
An unfortunate scoop of slimy pork on a bun paired with a terrible soup of noodles in a thin cheese sauce, sold as mac-n-cheese. Frustrating because my friend who ordered the same thing was served a handsome sandwich, overflowing with delicious pieces of meat. The wild part is that the best looking food served at our table was a kid's plate made up of chicken tenders, fries and cornbread. I will go back soon and order that. Seriously, it looked fantastic!
No longer what it was sadly. When Jack first opened his brisket was world-class. I'm a native Texan who has eaten at all the great BBQ pits in the state. Jack nailed it. The kind of brisket that didn't need sauce. And then he lost it. Started expanding. Cutting corners. Now when I drive by I just think about what was once great Texas BBQ... :(
