Wonderful find while on walkabout on roads less travelled. Had burger and potato salad which was really good. Beer was tasty and even managed a game of old school pinball which was truely nostalgic. Friendly staff made for a great visit.
Stumbled across this gem in the Scott Valley. Honestly, the best steak I’ve had in a decade! Great service and atmosphere. The area is SO quiet and peace and it’s like stepping back in time. Can’t wait to get back up there. Highly recommend the Callahan Emporium.
Breakfast burrito - tri tip.

I'm going to give this place 5 stars, just a small town kind of place. I got lost driving through Shasta and this place was an oasis. It's been about 5 years since I was there and I still have good memories of my visit there.
Love this place, small town feel real friendly staff always go above and beyond to help you. Bar, food and little store with essentials
Great bar, friendly and fast service, good sandwiches, great beer, this place has it all, worth a visit.
Really great Burger, good drinks, and an awesome staff! I will definitely be back!
Very old town saloon vibes in a young hip atmosphere... homemade ice cream, pool table, fresh food made to order on their outdoor grill
Absolute gem for hamburgers. Friendly and helpful staff. Funky and fun bar atmosphere. The eating area could use some tlc, bit don't let that stop you from grabbing lunch or a steak for dinner.
Very classic old western tavern. No phoniness or kitsch here. Mostly local folks downing light lagers and having fun. And the air conditioning is excellent.
Great spot for beers and burgers. The food is very fresh and home cooked style with amazing family recipes. The potato salad is on point. Definitely stop by, very cool watering hole
The owner was SUPER friendly. She made us feel at home on our way up the mountain. When we returned down she remembered us. She even remembered what we told her before we left the first time. She even joined in on talking about ourselves. Will definitely stop by again the next time we're in the area.
Hitch hiked here out of the smoke on the PCT in August of 2020, what a Great place to be dropped off!! I spent a half a day on their porch talking to a local Aborigine until hitching up to Etna for a room. Great Food, Super Hospitality & Super Chill Vibe!! Hope to hit it again some day!!
I took the most wild way to get from the coast to Shasta, and ended up here looking for directions. First off, I walked in and there were several dogs in the place, which is always a good sign. The bartender was super helpful and gave me the perfect directions. I'd get lost in Callahan again just to sit and hang out here.
Callahan Emporium for the win! Hitch from PCT was kinda hard on a Friday afternoon...took about an hour in a half but totally worth it. Delicious deli subs and $1 Coors Light Fridays! Plus we got super lucky cause they just happened to have live music that started at 7pm and went until 11pm (call them to see when their next live music is). Normally they close at 6:30pm. Lady owner was super nice and she asked the hotel owner across the street and he let us camp there for free. Heck I would at least try to hitch here for a cold beverage and sub then grab a case of beer and hitch back to the campground at the PCT. Could do a full resupply here. Tell her I sent ya! 🤘 -Big Red of the MN Hikings
The Best Rustic Dive Bar in Northern California. It sits in a teeny little historical gold mining town. Great deli sandwiches, outstanding service, and a great general store!!!

Enjoyed a late lunch here while motorcycling through the area. Had a very tasty roast beef on wheat sandwich with a cold chocolate milk on their front porch. Friendly staff & customers. Also checked out the old gold blasting monitor on display across the road. A worthwhile stop.
Low key local bar that serves the MOST incredible Rib Eye steak dinner on Fri and Sat nights. We hung out with Jordan the bar keep and chatted up all sorts of topics. Our dog was very comfy there and well received, the wood stove was toasty and it gets lively with a few games of pool. Lots of ciders to choose from if you are not into beer. Swing by, grab a seat and relax!!

Callahan Emporium is the only place to eat in Callahan, but Callahan is a town of 200-250 people. It definitely seems more of a an experience to have. It is an old bar that has pool tables. It feels like what you would expect the town to feel like. The food was okay. The menu is small and simple, makes things easy. I got a smoked tritip sandwich French dip style. The bread was good, the meat was fine, but unfortunately it was cold, which isn't what I would expect for a French dip. As a non-alcohol drinker there wasn't a lot of options for me and the lemonade was probably just from a powder. My first impression is what it is, but as a new local, I will have to give this place another chance. I hear their burgers are good and I am curious about their ribeye steak nights.

i was on a motorcycle trip this summer when i realized my internal compass was not right. so i stopped here for directions. the and i hesitate to say lady, sent me on a wild goose chase because i was confused about where she said to go in the first place since i had just came from that way. not only was my gas situation low, we ended up going down a road no bigger than a game trail it seemed. i'm just glad i didn't have reservations at the motel in the town i wanted to get to , or i would have came back to the bar and raised some hell. it wasn't funny at all.
