Fist time Eating here, and both of us loved the food. Millie had a soup starter and I had the best Pork belly skewers ever. For my main fish and chips, millie had chicken supreme. We shared a Pecan tart which was excellent. It's not cheap BUT the food was worth the money and our time

We had family of 14 lunch (2.30 on a Sunday) Pre ordered food It was scrummy worth every penny They had also set up table in u shape seating round outside so able to talk to all xx It was wonderful xx

My new favourite pub 😋 Fabulous setting, great service, extensive menu and exceptional food - all at a fair price. Every table was taken, just proves if you get the setting, staff, price and choice right there’s still a demand for a great independent pub.

Well, this was a treat. From when we stepped in the place to my last spoon of desert. Also a very pleasant place to eat. Staff are very polished and assertive. The menu was very inviting and the food was extremely well cooked. Never wanted it to end. Highly recommended.

A delicious, perfectly balanced lunch using high quality ingredients. The service was excellent and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. Overall, a very positive experience. We look forward to our next visit!

Really liked this gastro pub, not too fancy but food was excellent. The waitress who looked after us was very down to earth and joined in on our birthday singing, as did the other tables next to us. I particularly enjoyed the monkfish and prawn skewers as a starter.

5⭐️ food, literally no complaints about the food it was stunning, and the service was amazing! The staff were so friendly and helpful and attentive to us! Thanks guys. Only negative would be I think it’s ridiculously over priced, I think it’s ridiculous to charge people what the food costs especially when it’s quite small portions (take the fish and chips for example - £22) other than that - the food and service is incredible. Thanks for a great evening. Side note - the garlic aioli dip? Best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend, and the bread and butter pudding! Exquisite. I will be dreaming about that one!

Company Christmas function last Wednesday- mass catering is usually absolutely average; this wasn't. Excellent 3 course supper served with much enthusiasm and professionalism by the table staff. Can recommended the Sirloin (cooked to rare perfection) Wish this place was 30 miles south. Thank you team Malt Shovel.

Thursday lunchtime and it was busy. Says something about the place. Prices are not too bad, food was well presented and decent quantities, all good.

Lovely food with an interesting menu, well presented and cooked. A step up from the average pub food. Nice for that special meal. A little more expensive, but not so much as to make it too expensive for the extra quality you get.

This is an outstanding gastro pub. I have only been here twice but I have been very impressed with the dining. Fantastic

A Truly Outstanding Dining Experience We eat out regularly and have become quite selective about where we return — many places don’t make the cut. But this restaurant exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The atmosphere was relaxed yet refined, and the food? Absolutely top class. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour. It’s rare to find a place that gets everything right — service, setting, and sensational food — but this one absolutely did. We’ll definitely be back.

Absolutely delicious food here. The scotch egg was absolutely perfect - another level altogether if you have never tried it. Fantastic.

Great pub, lovely staff and amazing food. My wife and I had 2 hours without the kids and treated ourselves to a roast beef dinner and a glass of wine. One of the best roast dinners we've eaten (outside of home), great taste and massive portions, would highly recommend a visit. Dogs welcome at the bar area, a pleasant beer garden and plenty of parking. Book ahead and enjoy the visit!

Really great place to go, we had a lovely meal it was delicious. The staff were great very polite and helpful. Well recommend it. Went back today to eat I think the place has got better. Good service, polite staff ready to help. We will be definitely back soon.

Perfect Friday night fish & chips with a nice pint of beer. Been here lots of times and just keep going back. Lovely atmosphere, great food and really friendly and helpful staff.

Lovely atmosphere with great food. Would definitely recommend! Dishes chosen included were venison, chicken and the pork belly. Absolutely delicious! A massive thankyou to Franco who made us feel very welcome and looked after us and provided us with his very own entertainment! Will definitely be visiting again!

I was very impressed, lovely outside sitting area and when we went into the private room, it was so pretty and welcoming. I was there after a funeral, so it was a buffet, they kindly made up a plate of food for me that was GF. They couldn't have been more helpful. I would like to go back and try the restaurant.

This is a lovely place we visit as often as we can. Unfortunately and unusually the service was poor, we waited ages for drinks and Sunday lunch was missing the vital roast parsnips.

Popped along for Sunday lunch, friendly staff, good speed and good food. Had the roast beef, was quite pink and wound have been nice to get mash, stuffing and pigs in blanket too for the price. Scotch egg as fantastic and the cheese board is massive, well worth it 👍🏼

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch at The Malt Shovel. The food was tasty with decent portions, though it’s a bit on the pricier side. The vibe was great, relaxed and perfect for a weekend meal. Would definitely come back!

Food and service was excellent only spoilt by putting us right next to a birthday party. Was unable to talk due to the party, felt like just was just fitting people into gaps rather than a dining experience.

Visited here for dinner with my partner and my parents. The waitress who served us was friendly. The food was not the quality expected, given the positive reviews. I found it very average. It is quite expensive for what it is, but that is expected due to being in Solihull area. When booking I Requested a table in a quieter area of the restaurant due to not coping in noisy environments. We were given a table next to a loud party of 10 or so diners. We were unable to move as the restaurant was full. Eventually we were able to move into a slightly quieter corner at the end of the evening. When we fed this back to member of staff, possibly a manager, there was no apology and no concern shown. We won't return and wouldn't recommend.

We visited the place on the bank holiday. The food choice is very limited and was very pricey for what you get on the plate. The portions is like in the 5star Michelin but the quality is VERY questionable. I personally had bad tasted chicken and when mentioned that to the manager, he was actually arguing with me instead of offering apologies and not charging us for the bad dish. Definitely will not visit it again and will not recommend to anyone as it was disappointing to say the least. The best what you can get from this place are desserts
