Staff are very friendly and efficient. We had a problem with our table rocking back and forth. The waiter fixed it and apologized. Food was good and the atmosphere was nice. They even recognized a birthday next to us. The only thing I did not enjoy was the nacho appetizer.

My husband and I had an awesome time celebrating my birthday at Playa Cancun in Stony Point, NY. You HAVE to go eat there. The food was extremely delicious, the service was awesome, the ambiance is perfect and the views add to it all. We are planning our next trip and can't wait to try more wonderful things on the menu. I don't normally post reviews, but this place deserves recognition. Thinking about it is making me hungry😋

I love playa! The guacamole appetizer is so good, the chips are fresh, the shrimp fajita is the best. It's not dry like some places because it's got a sauce that it's cooked in. The sangria is the best I've ever had. It's not to sweet and you can taste the alcohol. The staff is very nice and the location is nice! This place is my favorite Mexican restaurant. We even drive 45 mins to eat there, that's how much we love it.

Absolutely phenomenal!!! Can’t rave enough! The food, the service the ambiance everything was spectacular. I am extremely picky and when I tell you you won’t be disappointed that is a promise. Tonight had been my wife and I's 2nd time dining here in the last 3 weeks. This time we brought our 2 Adult sons. We enjoyed the atmosphere, especially looking out over the Hudson River. The Food has been Great, and the staff Very Attentive. The Portions have been more then a meal. We would Surely Recommend You Visit. Food was great and portions were good. I had the shrimp tacos and the two sauces that come with it were delicious. They also gave us chips and homemade salsa which was also great. Due to COVID they walk out to your car to take the order and bring everything out to you. They are wearing masks and very helpful.

Fantastic Mexican just off the shores of the Hudson River. Beautiful views outside. Inside the interior is decorated for a Fiesta. Sometimes can get loud when full. The food is top-notch and the drinks are on the mark. Salsa is fresh home-made and the jalapeño margaritas are amazing! Everything you would expect from a neighborhood Mexican restaurant.

Great hidden gem that a local told me about. I've been here a few times now. One of the best margaritas I've ever had! I get the same thing every time and have not explored the menu but the shrimp fajitas are so good with a side of chorizo. I know they are closed on Mondays. Will definitely be back! This is the first time I've stopped here although I've passed by many times. Before covid they always seemed to be quite busy and since they are not on a heavily traveled roadway it's usually a good sign of returning satisfied local customers. Sometimes blue collar in work clothes but business casual would be more fitting to the place, but all seem to be welcome. The food is more like what you'd find in a fancier Mexican restaurant in California. I took an order to go, California Burrito and chicken Fajita. If you try this place bring hunger, the portions are large, we will have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. My girlfriend and I split each in half to sample. The sides of rice, guac and frijoles were super. The foods great, the service is excellent. I will be a returning satisfied customer.

Beautiful location with a view of the Hudson River. It feels like your transported out of Rockland. The atmosphere of the restaurant was wonderful. Inside the restaurant is beautiful, and there's even a well-built cute patio for outdoor seating as well. Even though it's a bit expensive, everything from the sangria to the tamales were so delicious, we wanted to go back the next night! Well worth it

Amazing food always, went here almost every week after I first discovered the place in jan 2019, never been disappointed.

I called restaurant in advance to let them know I was bringing about 20 people to eat after my son’s baptism and they had everything setup nicely when we arrived. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The waiter and waitress were both very attentive and kind !! Highly recommend this restaurant for the food/drinks and atmosphere!

I cannot be considered connoisseur of Mexican Food but this place is rock solid. Food is consistently good. Drinks are good. The staff are very nice. So much so that one of the hostesses gives us a kiss and chats with us for a few (we been there a bunch). The view of the river is excellent too.

This restaurant is a fantastic addition to the Lower Hudson Valley. It's right on the water which I would imagine is beautiful in the summertime. The restaurant itself is very spacious and colorful and has a fun vibe. Their margaritas are delicious and the bartender went out of his way to make sure we liked the way he made it. I had the vegetarian platter for my entree and it was high quality and delicious as well. The waitress was very kind and helpful and made sure to check back on us when we recieved our drinks and food. Service was also quick and everyone we spoke to was polite and friendly. They also had live music (two musicians both playing guitar and singing) and their music was beautiful! They even took requests and sang for individual tables around the restaurant. In my opinion, it was not only a good dining experience, but a place with good and friendly energy, making it a fun night. I will definitely be coming back!

Have visited twice in the last month, prices are fair, food is yummy and drinks are delicious. Located right on the Hudson River with both indoor and (a lot) outdoor seating. There is a parking lot and it is near public and street parking as well. I have gotten the Vegetarian Platter although they do offer many things on the menu. Can't go wrong with a margarita!

Went to have some brunch with some cousins not expecting very much and left pretty impress with all of the tastings I had off of the brunch menu. The French toast was fantastic, avocado toast was delicious, steak n eggs were on point and the huevos ranchero were amazing... and had unlimited drinks from 12 to 3. The micheladas are the best ones I have had on the east. Good time, brunch was a decent amount of money but we'll worth. Gonna try to go back at some point

A beautiful eye-catching restaurant from the outside in Stony Point, NY with a large parking lot. We went here for an early dinner, it was not that packed but it became more crowded when it was getting later. There is an outdoor seating area during warm weather and a bar counter inside as well. The host is nicely friendly, funny and informative. He didn't mind answering our questions about food and drinks cuz we had no idea what they were to order. The environment was wholesome, the food was flavorful and in big portions, and my Mango Habanero Margarita was on fire. I was hesitant at first cuz I was told sweet. Thank God it was not. Anyone who loves spicy margarita can't miss this one.

I had the chicken fajita and it was very good not spicy which I loved. The price is very reasonable for a table of four. The fried Ice cream and the tres leche are so delicious. Also when they brought us the bill they bought us a shot of kaluah which was pretty awesome.

This is quickly becoming one of my fave places to get Mexican food in Rockland county. I always get the chicken enchiladas and they are delicious and the rice and refried beans are always on point. Do yourself a favor and grab a pitcher of housemade sangria. Now that COVID won't let us be great they've moved to providing more outdoor seating and parking is pretty plentiful. The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is because the wait for your food is always sooo long. But the food is worth the wait. Just get another pitcher of sangria. 😉

This is above average Mexican food. Not only is the quality and taste a cut above, but the menu has the standard fare plus a bunch of authentic Mexican dishes. The night we were there a tequila company was sponsoring margarita samples in various flavors, so we got about 7 (small, free drinks) - icing on the cake!

A must visit Mexican restaurant near Seven lakes drive. We stopped by for lunch and the indoor was pretty busy. They have outdoor seating as well but since we had our pup with us and it was pretty windy that day, the owner was very kind enough to accommodate us in the tents they use for dinners only. He even brought in a heater and placed it by our table. This world definitely needs more people like him. As good as was the customer service, so was the food. Complimentary chips and salsa was good. The nachos were quite different than other restaurants yet very tasty. They looked more like a pizza. The veggie enchiladas had a really good flavors. Thank you for the amazing service, Playa Cancun. We will definitely be visiting again.

Two friends and I stopped in after hiking at Bear Mountain. We were grateful that they accommodated us at an outdoor table after a small wait. At our request they turned on the propane heaters which we really appreciated. The tables could've used a little more spacing but by the time we were escorted to the area, other diners had already left so we got the full 6+ feet of space from other diners. Playa Cancun's menu is substantial! All types of enchiladas, burritos, tacos etc. and all of the food was well spiced and large in portion. They also have some epically sized margaritas. It is really good Mexican food. Unfortunately the service was a little uncoordinated. Each stage of dinner was struck with some sort of delay. The waiter seemed to be slightly confused or forgetful about what drinks we ordered and then it seemed like the bar took a while to make the drinks. One of my companions asked for a spicy sauce. It was forgotten so she had to ask again. Another server stopped just short of handing us another table's order. I couldn't help but notice the glitches pile up. Bottom line: I would still go again but I'd be wary of the service timing and teamwork.

Great sit down Mexican restaurant. As with most restaurants around here I’ve found the acoustics terrible and the noise level too loud.Outside is amazing View.. can see from most of inside as well… service was friendly and available but not on point. Food was excellent and fresh. I could tell my enchiladas were waiting on his fajitas which came out sizzling! All the fixings with excellent Salsa and average chips. All was great. We were offered boxes and dessert because of course we couldn’t finish it all!! We will return to sit outside when it’s not so hot. Maybe try one of their delicious looking Mango Spicy Margaritas!

Wait staff slow and not responsive to filling water and chips when empty. I got a veggie skewer with shrimp, chicken and beef. It had absolutely no seasoning on it. Not even salt. The one redeeming quality is that the view is beautiful and atmosphere is fun and festive.

It's not easy to stand out among Mexican restaurant because there are so many and people are used to Mexican food too much. So 3 stars here mean it's nothing outstanding, just average. It was interesting to have live music by the musicians going around the tables but it could be annoying for some people. Food was OK and the service was OK.

I would of honestly gave this 5 stars but my food was so salty and drink were watered down. We had a really good waiter, he really tried his best. Food all came out for my husband and I to enjoy together. Had about 5_6 drinks and not even a buzz. Orderded Enchiladas for my husband and I and we both thought the meat was so salty. Disappointed.

We went yesterday to Playa Cancun, we got a table in minutes which was great considering everywhere else we had to wait 1hour or more. The food was that great yesterday, I come here when I’m in the area and food is usually good. But our server was amazing her name is Katherine giving that we were a big party she was very patient and she would come to our table every so often to ask if we were okay or if we needed anything, which in other restaurants they barely do that which is bad. But thank you Katherine for your assistance:)

The restaurant is very vibrant and pretty. Love the views of the Hudson. Staff is always visiting your table. Food was GREAT. Clean bathrooms. Well-priced menu. BEST TRES LECHES CAKE EVER, seriously. But the drinks… UGH. Our party got a total of 6 different drinks, and you could not taste alcohol in any of them. I’m not a big drinker, and I wasn’t even tipsy after 3 drinks. That was our biggest disappointment. If they had a better bartender, this would be a 5-star review.

I was expecting a much better experience than what we had. The restaurant has a premium location that any restaurant owner would for. It's right on the Hudson River with dining views. Sadly though, that was the extent of the excitement. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered shredded beef burritos that had a little bit of flavor but it had so much meat that it became hard to chew and cut the burrito and it really lacked flavor. The rice and beans were again nothing to write home about. The drinks were okay but again nothing exciting. Yeah atmosphere inside of the restaurant was somewhat on the bland side but nicely decorated. The windows allowed for a great view outside which added to the ambience. The staff was incredibly nice that I have to say. They were attentive and very courteous and professional. I just wish they would put more emphasis on food presentation, and food quality. It's not to say that the food isn't edible it is but it's just not something you'd write home about and come back time after time after time and brag about. I think the owner has a wonderful opportunity in having this place by either getting a better chef and improving the quality and flavor of his food so that it can thrive even more than what it is and become something much bigger. I was disappointed because it had such a great rating 4.5 stars. But I can't give it more than three. So I guess what's really disappointing is its location and in comparison to the food and the place itself.

Disappointed with the food and margaritas. Good service though! We ordered a pitcher from which I drank three glasses and did not even get a buzz. Pretty sure they forgot to add tequila in it. The steak was rubbery and tasteless. The fajitas had maybe two slices of bell peppers.

After having a bad experience a year ago we figured we would give them another try. Ordered our food and drinks . Drinks came right away with chips and salsa. Other people were filtering in after us being seated. Their appetizers came soon after their drinks...ours came forty five minutes after our order. Then our main course took another forty minutes to come out. The food was average tasting and a beef dish was over salted. It looks like the regular customers were getting better and quicker service as they were getting much faster service. The real shame is with its location and view of the water this place could be a gold mine for the owners. Needs better management. Will not be returning.

Ive been here in the past and have always had a great experience but this last time was horrible. Came here on a Saturday at about 1:30. There were literally two tables occupied. We had to call someone over to get us drinks. Then waited another 15 minutes for the waitress. On top of already being quite annoyed for waiting so long for the food since it wasn’t busy - when it came out the food was nasty. The chicken in the enchilada was dry and flavorless. The tostada was soggy and the beef did not have a good taste. Chorizo taco also tasted horrible. I was waiting for the waitress to ask how the food was but she never came over to inquire. We actually had to walk over to where she was sitting to give her the bill - the owners are so nice but I won’t be going there again.

The food was not fresh and the bathrooms were dirty. Waiters also brought the wrong order and we had to wait about 15 minutes before they came to pick up plates and bring them to another table.

As a Mexican, this was a slap in the face, this is not Mexican food. But it makes sense though given the location. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food look elsewhere. The best thing I had was the beer I ordered. Music was good at least and got a free shot, probably cause the waiter saw the disappointment in my face.

All Mexicans avoid this place. I promise you will be disappointed. No where near authentic, if anything the food taste processed and straight from a can. Very weird vibes right from the getco. No water was offered either when seated. And theyll charge you gratuity if you come with less than 6 people. (It says they will charge gratuity with 6 attendees, we were a party of 5). I guess it’s true when people around the world say NY has the worst Mexican food. The green and red sauce wasn’t even spicy, mid experience.

Garbage food!! I was there with my family on a Wednesday afternoon at about 4pm at 5:15 pm we were asked to leave our table because they had “other clients” coming there for dinner! First off, we are Stony Point residents for over 20 years who have been supporting this restaurant since they opened and have had our own children/family work for the establishment!! The food quality has greatly declined and I had to complain after ordering a simple steak Taco salad. Even the second time they brought my food out it was presented in poorly cooked steak strips and a dirty plate. Along with appetizers we ordered entrees and 2 pitchers of Sangria. The second pitcher of Sangria we gladly took home to enjoy n the comfort of our beautiful home since there were too many bugs outside to even finish enjoying drinks. Service was definitely not appreciated. One star because 0 is not an option!!

I had high hopes for a pleasant evening but our experience was thoroughly disappointing due to the poor service and unprofessional attitude of our server. From the moment we were seated, the server’s demeanor was dismissive and borderline rude. Never even got served water nor were ever asked for it, making us feel like an inconvenience rather than valued guests. The attitude was so off-putting that it cast a shadow over the entire meal, turning what should have been a relaxing night out into a frustrating ordeal. The food itself was decent, nothing extraordinary but passable. However, no amount of decent food could salvage the evening when the service was this poor. It got to the point where I had to politely request a different server just to feel comfortable continuing our meal. The lack of hospitality was astonishing, and it’s clear that the restaurant needs to seriously invest in training its staff on basic customer service and professionalism. I won’t be returning unless I hear significant improvements have been made in this area. A truly pathetic experience. I Couldn’t leave a tip, because it never made any sense.

The only reason why I’m making this post is to warn other people and hopefully have them avoid the experience I had. I went to eat here with my best friend who is a frequent customer at the restaurant and she raved about it. So we went this past Saturday excited to have a good dinner only to be met with the rudest attitude the moment we stepped in. I’m not sure if it’s because how we were dressed, because I had a face mask on, maybe because the staff thought we were a couple, or because my friend and I are Hispanic which would be ironic given this is a Mexican restaurant. Anyways, this older man with salt and pepper hair and a white polo looked at us with disgust and ignored my friend that told him we needed a table for two. A waitress came up about a minute later and sat us right where the service area and Back of House start. We get a second waitress to take our drink order and it takes almost 15 minutes to have our food order taken. We try to get the attention of multiple staff that walked next to our table because we were hungry and wanted to order but were constantly ignored. When we finally get our order in, my friend gets flautas and I get the veggie enchiladas since I’m a vegetarian. The entire time so far we have felt ostracized and staff kept ignoring us. We get our food and from first glance we already felt something was off. My veggie fajitas were covered in this sauce that was 90% oil and the rest a weird tomato sauce that was bitter. The beans tasted like they had no flavor and the rice smelled almost rancid and was hiding a giant piece of chicken, even though I ordered a vegetarian dish for a reason. The beans on my friends plate looked so hard and stale. I came from Texas and this is not what Mexican food should look like. I have also worked in food service and have cooked for massive groups myself and being Hispanic I feel I can speak on how Latin food should be prepared. This food was inedible but I was so hungry I attempted to take a few bites but the food just tasted terrible. My friends food was also terrible. Being hungry I tried the second batch of chips and salsa we got but then the salsa smelled and tasted like it had soap or a cleaning chemical in it. We decided this food and service were not worth it and that we would just pay the check and leave but it takes another 10 minutes to get the waitress to get our check but she is then called to the back of house. We wait another 5 minutes for the check and we don’t want to talk to anyone we were just disappointed and none of the staff cared to resolve any issues even tho they were standing right behind us. Eventually the same rude man with salt and pepper hair and a white polo came to us and was so condescending and asked if there was an issue. Since we felt insulted already by the terrible service we just wanted to pay and leave but he was rudely pressuring us to give us and answer. I told him sir we just want the check and to leave, this food was not good. He then shrugged at us and was mad and screamed at staff in Spanish about us wanting the check. He was standing next to me talking about my friend and I even tho we speak Spanish. I couldn’t hear the last bit he said given the loudness of the restaurant but I understood when he complained that we wanted the check. So our original waitress brings the check over and apologizes but it did not feel genuine and we walked out feeling humiliated and mistreated. I felt even more upset because there was this family that I assumed was South Asian that was also treated terribly by that same man that gave us the attitude from the beginning. This food is not worth it. Honestly, I’ve had better Mexican food at a truck stop than this blasphemous place called a restaurant. You will not last as a business with this type of service and I don’t expect for anyone in management to even care about this post.
