Oscar Store 02-10-25 I have been wanting to try this place out for a couple of months. The timing never worked out or my grandkids didn’t want to try anything new. We finally made it! And am I happy we did. The friendly staff sat us as soon as we arrived. They took our drink order and appetizer order right away. Oh My Gosh! Our Appetizers, The Fried Mushrooms were flavorful and served with ranch dressing. The Fried Squash is totally awesome. It also was served with ranch dressing, and my daughter ate them with honey mustard. The Fried Pickles were good but not that exciting. Don’t get me wrong. I’m just not a Fried Pickle person. Two of my grandsons really liked them. We ordered for our meals: The Chicken Fried Steak with Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Home cut Fries, and a roll. The steak was tender and flavorful. That was my dish and I really enjoyed it. The Chicken Tenders, with Gravy, Fried Okra, and Huge Onion Rings which were cooked perfect! Chicken was moist and tender. Good Batter. The Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich, Home Cut Fries, check out the photo! It’s bigger than the bun! The Large Double Meat Cheeseburger with Home Cut Fries. It was huge! Not sure if you can tell that I was very pleased with our visit. The staff were friendly and efficient. They have a large dining room with others available. We look forward to coming back to Oscars and trying different items on the menu!

We love Oscar Store. Always have, always will. They serve good food at a reasonable price and the atmosphere is as small town Texas as you get. Make sure you ask for Meghan and tell her best good friend Ashley sent you! They have dishes like chicken fried steak and burgers. They serve beer, wine coolers, and wine based beverages.

Very unique place to dine. A group of us decided to head over after church and although it was very busy, the wait for our food was not bad, and the service was also great. I had the famous CFS, and the wife had the fish plate. I tried the fish, and it was good. Batter was solid and crunchy as it should be. My CFS was also very fresh and the light flaky batter had a great flavor.

Hands down the best burgers I've had! I've heard the chicken fried steak and catfish are both award winning! Been 3 times and I still just get the burger, because it is just that good. Service is amazing. The staff really cares and when a F1 tornado bears down and starts ripping things apart. Every single staff members focus was on getting ever costomer safely to shelter, than safely home. Good people, great food.

Oscar Store in Temple, Texas is truly a diamond in the rough. It’s literally in the middle of nowhere but it did exceeded expectations. From the moment we walked in we knew we were in for a country dinner treat. We started off with the corn nuggets and chili cheese fries, which were the perfect combination of crunchy and savory. The corn nuggets were crisp on the outside and bursting with sweet corn on the inside, while the chili cheese fries were smothered in gooey cheese and flavorful chili. For the main event, I couldn't resist ordering the chicken fried chicken, mashed taters, and fried okra. The chicken fried chicken was perfectly seasoned and fried to crispy perfection, while the mashed taters were lumpy just like I like them. The fried okra added a nice crunch to the meal and rounded out the plate perfectly. My wife opted for the loaded chicken breast with mashed taters and green beans, and she couldn't stop raving about how delicious it was. The chicken breast was juicy and topped with a generous amount of toppings, while the mashed taters were the perfect comfort food side dish. Overall, our dining experience at Oscar Store was top-notch and we will definitely be returning when we return home to Texas. The food was delicious, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. I highly recommend trying out Oscar Store for yourself - you won't be disappointed!

Was in the Temple area today on business around lunchtime. I Googled “best restaurants in Temple” and Oscar Store popped up with the reviews stating “best chicken fried steak hands down”. Well, that’s a mighty bold claim I’ve heard MANY times before, and I’ve literally tried them all over Texas. I wanted to check out this mythical place for myself. I got the CFS plate with mashed potatoes and fried okra. Holy Cow!! It didn’t disappoint! Chicken Fried Steak Plate 9/10 - the meat was a thicker cut than most. I personally don’t like the beat to death, paper thin sliver that’s all crust. This my friends was a CFS with substance. The meat was seasoned well. The batter was crispy and well flavored. The gravy was above average and very good. I really enjoyed it! Mashed Potatoes 8/10 - good consistency and texture. The flavor and overall vibe of the potatoes was they were homemade. Gravy was same as CFS. Fried Okra 6/10 - nothing special here. Seemed like run of the mill frozen okra. They were still good though. Roll 9/10 - not sure what kind of roll they put in the plate, but it sure was good. Almost seemed like a honey butter flavored roll? Service 9/10 - everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. Can’t say enough about the small town hospitality! Thank y’all! Atmosphere 8/10 - old building with rustic charm. I think it was built in 1932 originally. Lots of cool items inside and out. Overall 9/10 - highly recommend you try it out if you’re in the area. Heck, we might road trip from NB to try it again! It’s worth it!!

While traveling in rural areas near Temple, Tx, we found Oscar's Store and decided to stop for lunch. The building was an old antique tin barn (by design) on the outside, but beautifully furnished and cool (105 degrees outside) on the inside. The menu was great with all my favorite Texas comfort food. I chose chicken fried steak, my wife chose a grilled chicken sandwich, and another in my party chose the hamburger. All the items were fantastic! Service was quick, and our waitress was happy and friendly! We will return to Oscar's in the future! You must try Oscar's! Plenty of parking and their garden at the front door was well kept and gorgeous!

Been wanting to go here since I moved to Temple. It did not disappoint. The place is huge, the staff is friendly, the food was pretty good. If this review was just for the food it’d get 4/5 stars. It’s not gonna blow your mind but it was good. No complaints. Will be coming back for sure, hopefully when there’s music. Something for everyone in the family.

I love their chicken Fred steaks and their waitresses are so polite and get you whatever you need. The prices are pretty reasonable offer.

Excellent lunch stop for a HOG group ride. Very biker, friendly and allowed us to park our bikes behind the building on a cement surface. Food was reasonably priced with generous portions, and the service was friendly and efficient. The taco salad bowl was one of the better ones I’ve had recently. Took home a homemade blueberry cheesecake, which was fantastic. Nice little place if you can find it, definitely recommend.

Been coming here for years. Tonight it was dinner on a Saturday evening. It wasn’t too busy so we were seated quickly. I had a Thomas Burger and it was delicious but way more than I could eat. My fries were underwhelming as they weren’t hot and were on the soggy side. Our server wasn’t too attentive and quickly dropped our bill at our table before we could order desert so we had to order desert to go while paying our bill at the register. I like Oscar Store and I recommend it to friends but I think the servers could use a little more training.

You can only use handicap parking if you use a wheelchair or walker. I use a cane due to a permanent disability. Had to park and walk a long distance from a non-paved area. Avoid this place!

Father's day was the first time I went to this establishment. The outside concert venue set up was awesome and at that time already made plans to come see a concert should we like it. Now for the menu and such. I am an easy going cat and don't mind changes but one of the weird changes was when our excellent server informed us no hamburgers and sandwiches. She didn't know why but today since it would be busy none of that. That doesn't seem like putting a patty on bun takes forever. We did come to conclusion that they wanted the consumer to buy the more expensive items on the menu. That set off the bad taste in my mouth. BTW no signs indicate that there is/was a limited menu The food was decent. That's it nothing special but that maybe because of the bad taste in my mouth due to the limited menu. A few people cost 87 dollars which was irksome. This restaurant knew what hustle they were pulling off when they took out handheld out of the equation. This place has been round forever and I am sure will be around forever more. Just be on the lookout for suspect changes on menu they don't advertise. Service was AWESOME. My experience was okay not horrible and I may come back.
