we loved everything about the starlight theatre. the food was very good. we had the brussel sprouts (huge portion), they were fantastic. i had the chicken sandwich and my hubby had the chili. all was good. drinks were great, not a good selection of craft beer so i was forced to drink liquor 😳. i enjoyed both drinks. had a scorpion margarita. the prices are very reasonable. overall we loved it!

Enjoyed a great fillet! Seriously tender with proper seasoning on the garlic green beans! Fun place with great stage and live music!

Had a lovely meal here. The food was absolutely delicious! I got the Famous Diego Burger and was shocked at how big it was! Definitely could have split it! We also got the smoked brisket queso and loved it. The only thing I was dissatisfied with was the margarita. $16.00 for the house margarita and it came in a little glass cup like you'd put beside your sink to have a drink of water from in the middle of the night. Based on the portion sizes of the food I was expecting a nice big margarita glass for the price. Food was great, server was very friendly and nice, margarita was an overpriced miss. There needed to be twice as much margarita in my cup or half as much cost for what I got. Overall, I'd still recommend this place and definitely go back.

We almost did not go to Starlight because the internet made it sound a little kitschy, but we ended up going and couldn’t help but go back the next night. The food is very tasty and fairly priced. Cocktails were delicious and creative. The conversations on the porch and at the bar were fun and interesting and we were lucky enough to have Katherine serving us both nights and she was awesome!

Came here alone on a Sunday night 5:30 and there was already a decent crowd. I ordered their chicken-fried Texas antelope and my gosh it was good. I also got their homemade pecan pie which I brought home and ate it while watching a movie! It was decadent but hey you gotta treat yourself sometimes!

Make sure you get a reservation!!! If not, you’ll be eating at the bar or later in the evening. Place opens at 5PM. Food was very good and sitting at the bar was fine. Very busy when they first open but seems to go quick as most are there to fulfill their bucket lists. Lol. Very friendly staff and a full bar.

This is a fantastic old theater turned into a restaurant. We arrived an hour before opening and spent time in the store next door looking through the fascinating souvenirs. I highly recommend arriving early because there were many people hanging around waiting. There was live guitar music being played. The hostess was lovely and sat us quickly. We would have had a prime location if they had any performers on stage. They didn’t the night we went. Our waitress was lovely and polite, but she made us feel a little rushed and brought things out too quickly. The food was fantastic! We enjoyed brisket, chicken, antelope and the street tacos looked incredible! The bathrooms are outside and suuuper hot.

Disclaimer: Parties of ten or more can get a reservation, but the food is “while supplies last”. So get in line before 5PM if you want to have the best shot. If you need restrooms; they are next to the ‘Terlingua Jail’. This place offers amazing food and is a perfect slice of true West Texas culture. Our waitress, Kat (possibly Cat) was very attentive and always made sure we had drink refills. She even was courteous enough to provide my mother with a salad as she was unable to eat the broccoli/cauliflower mix. Decor was amazing. Mom had the quail, brother had the brisket, I had the salmon, and dad had the chicken fried antelope. May edit once I know how dessert went. Edit 1: For those of you who have read this far, I had the Churros for dessert… they were amazing. Edit 2: We attended the dinner tonight (11/04/25) as well. I had a Prickly Pear’ita… cuz when you’re in the desert… you gotta try the Prickly Pear. I had the pork medallions with the Spicy Chipotle reduction… absolutely amazing. It is spicy… but not burning the entire time hot. Just “phew… that’s warm…”. Pro tip: if you’d like to cut the heat, try mixing it with the Blueberry Balsamic reduction. No dessert tonight, though. Made apple cobbler the other day…

My husband and I went to our big bend anniversary adventure. We had our anniversay dinner here and did not disappoint. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great also. Our server was excellent. If I could give 10 stats I would.

The 1.5hr wait is WORTH it. We got Fried antelope fpr appetizer, and antelope burgers. All DELICIOUS!!! We also enjoyed fantastic drinks from the bar. The view at sunset is stunning!!! They had music tonight, he was very good, and funny!! This is a must see!

10/10 experience, wait was kind of long but expected during the holidays. While we waited for our table we were allowed to order appetizers from the bar that came out fairly quick. The live music was great and when we finally got our table the menu was superb which was completed by a short wait time after placing our order would definitely visit again!

Once you’re in, it’s a great time! Have a great bar next door while you wait. The food, like the Pork Medallions, is really good and the cocktails are fantastic. Get there early before they open during busy season. Got to check out the Live band afterwards.

Great food. Had live music while we were there. Bit of a wait, but very manageable. Would definitely go again. I had the ribeye, it was exelent came with mashed potatoes and a cauliflower broccoli mix. My fiance had the quail. With the same sides.

Arrive early (or late) or wait for a table, but it's worth it. We went Friday night around 7 and it was a two hour wait, we came back Saturday late and were sat pretty quickly a few songs before the live music concluded. The food is fantastic, don't sleep on the quail with the blueberry sauce... Who knew! Great service, fun atmosphere. It's a good sized place but it gets busy so plan accordingly. Parking is easy with a large dirt parking lot, I mean it is a ghost town right? We split the mixed grill and it was plenty for two.

Really cool historic place. Plan to get here early to put your name on the list for dinner. No advance reservations. There's an old jailhouse beside the place and a store with lots of things to temp you spend $. The menu is broad, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding something you like. I had qual and my wife had brisket tacos ( bring a big appetite for the tacos - 3 large ones). Our waitress was excellent. She was very attentive and met all of our needs.

There’s something magnetic about Terlingua — a place where the desert feels endless, the sky seems larger than life, and time slows down just enough to notice every detail. My visit began wandering through dusty streets and historic ruins, surrounded by the wild beauty of West Texas and the spirit of travelers who never quite seem to leave. As evening settled in, I made my way to the legendary Starlight Theatre Restaurant & Saloon, where live music, good food, and stories from across the desert come together under one roof. It was the perfect welcome to this quirky corner of the Chihuahuan Desert — equal parts history, community, and adventure.

We were so nervous after hearing about the 4-hour wait times, but we arrived about 30 minutes before opening and only waited 45 minutes. Totally worth it! The place was so cool, the food was absolutely delicious, and the service was impeccable. Prices were very reasonable. There was even a live band playing, but it wasn’t too loud and we could still talk. The brisket was amazing!

Really cool atmosphere. Food was fine but really appreciated the live music and great service. The wait can get very long. We showed up at 4:30pm, 30 min before they opened and there was already a line. After we put in our names, it was probably still a 45min wait until our table was ready. The hostess told us the wait can easily get up to 3hrs so Just keep that in mind if you plan eating here.

I was expecting this place to be overhyped but it was absolutely not! It was soo good! The food and drinks were delicious! We did get there right before 5pm so we were the first ones to get a table so we knew the food was fresh and fast! Highly recommend getting there early as there was a long line that formed really quickly. Kids loved it! There’s such a great atmosphere and the servers were very kind. We had a great time and it’s honestly one of the better places we’ve eaten since being in Texas! Definitely worth the visit! 🙌🏼

Loved this spot, me and my partner were there for about 4 hours! Food was DELICIOUS, drinks were great, too! The bartenders (namely, Cory and Zay) were incredibly kind and made us feel so welcomed. Will surely be coming back here on our next visit

We visited Big Bend for roughly four days and thought it would be nice to try something different than the park's restaurant. Admittedly, it was about a 45 minute drive to the Starlight Theatre but well worth the trip. Service was prompt, they had live music and the food was very good too. I had the mesquite brisket, a margarita and we shared churros and the pecan pie.

L
Leticia Hernandez

Fun and unique setting, delicious food, and great margaritas! The live music was a plus. Perfect way to end the day! Heads up, it can get packed pretty quickly - be sure to get in line and get your name on the list to secure a table.

M

This is quite the nostalgic experience. The food is great, the atmosphere is rustic and old western and the service was excellent. Granted we were dining late and there were only a few tables being served at the time but it is for sure a bucket historic place to visit.

The Starlight Theatre has been calling to me like the drums in Jumanji ever since I first heard about it years ago. After spending 4 days at Big Bend National Park, I finally had the chance to take a well-needed break here, and it was everything I hoped for. I was a bit nervous about how crowded it would be and heard it could get packed without a reservation system, which did feel a bit finicky at first, but I decided to just go ahead and grab a seat at the bar. The primary bartender was a super nice dude, and helpful, and the rest of the staff were equally friendly. The bar crowd was an interesting mix of locals and regulars—definitely an eclectic bunch, but everyone was nice enough. I started with a few ranch waters (Espolon & Topo Chico with lime), and they hit the spot per usual. And the Prickly Pear Margarita was elite. As for the food, I definitely over-ordered, but after days of camping, I wanted to try a bit of everything. The fried antelope was incredible—definitely the highlight of my meal. I also tried the special for the night, tacos (I think it was either chicken or pork, but I honestly can’t remember), and they were fantastic, especially paired with the sweet green sauce. Can’t wait to come back one day, hopefully with some friends or family to share in the experience!

吴锐恒(Ruiheng Edbalt Wu)

It is our first time to eat antelope. The rib eye is also really nice. They have super big burgers.

This is a must while visiting Terlingua. Every time we visit the area we go there. There is always a long wait. Yesterday we waited close to 2 h. They have a waiting list, and you will get a text message. Letting you know when to come in. We usually don’t mind having to wait and like to stay outside or check out the little store by the restaurant. There is an outdoor open patio where they serve drinks and some food options. They usually have live music, what is also entertaining, but the place it self is very cool. I had the brisket tacos and my fiancé had a burger. Service was fast and friendly. The restrooms are outside, what is inconvenient but a small price to pay for the overall experience.

K
Kaitlynn White

I was worried this place was overrated but wow did it impress me! We came back a 2nd time during our stay to get the brisket tacos, quail, and fried antelope! Queso and margaritas on the porch were delicious I forgot we even had a long wait. Staff was attentive and friendly. Can’t wait to come back on our next visit to BB

Great experience! Neat old venue with a very sophisticated menu! I arrived about 25 minutes after they opened for dinner and there was already a wait - which was fine and I sort of expected... had a drink at the bar then was seated about 10 minutes later. Waitress was a gem called Rachel (I think?) and she made some great suggestions. I started off with chicken fried antelope strips served with a delicious gravy. Great flavor and a little grainy which is expected from antelope. My dinner salad was nice and fresh but the dressing - oh, my! This was a creamy cucumber dill which was absolutely sinful!!! For my entree I had the ribeye which was juicy and cooked to perfection - this was served with sautéed mushrooms and garlic perched atop the steak. Along with the steak I had a loaded baked potato and steamed veggies. For dessert, because why not, I had their homemade Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie topped with vanilla ice cream. This. Was. STUPID. Good! Everything was a treat here. Locals and tourists alike swarm this place for great food and live entertainment nearly every night (check their website for current and future shows).

This is an amazing restaurant. You have to eat here if you stay in Terilinga. Everything was perfect. I had the brisket and it, along with the beans and potato salad, was the best I have ever eaten. The portions were huge, I couldn't finish it although I really wanted to.

G

This restaurant is beautiful and fun! The food was great, live music was great, and everyone was friendly! The vibe here is relaxed and fun. Even if you don't get food, grab a drink at the bar and enjoy it while sitting on their porch. Wait time was less than an hour and totally worth it! My husband got the antelope burger and said it was one of the best burgers hes had. Definitely recommend this place!!

D
Danae Chesney

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious dinner here and enjoyed listening to live music as we ate. We were told there would be a 25 minute wait around 7:45 pm but were seated in about 10 minutes. I am vegetarian and substituted an impossible burger for the chicken in the chicken saute and it was a delicious option.

G
Gerald Jozwiak

Best bar in town. Went on Saturday at 5:30, as they get extremely busy, late in the evening. Drinks, food, and service are excellent. Authentic Texas style music started at 7, and made for a fantastic vibe. Restrooms are outside by the jail, and are a little tricky. Nice Texas type store is next door, if you arrive early Recommend

A
Andie Peters

Everything was Wonderful! There will be a long wait no matter what. But it was very enjoyable! The cantina outside was nice to grab a drink and chips at while we waited. They did have more food to order out there just not a full menu. Could have easily gotten chili and beers for dinner outside and had no wait for the inside restaurant. The Diego burger inside was amazing! And massive, so worth it!

L
Lisa Woods

Very fun place for a nice dinner. Great atmosphere, and our food and drinks were all good. The live music is a nice touch. We had the brisket plate and shrimp tacos. The tacos had more heat than expected, but they were delicious. I suggest passing on the bourbon chocolate pecan pie, which was more like a brownie than pie and was way, way too sweet, without much interesting flavor. Otherwise everything was great. The gist ship next door is a fun place to browse while you wait for a table.

D
Dawn J

Very cool dining experience. We visited the gift shop next door and bought a couple of beers to enjoy. We got in line at 4:30 before opening so we could get our name on the list. (Our thanks to the Rio Grande Village park host Gina for suggesting this strategy!) We were seated at 5:20, which was perfect. They seat tables slowly so that the wait staff can serve you quickly once you are seated. Our food was outstanding! We had the brisket queso appetizer and the grilled quail and chicken fried antelope for entrées. We agreed that both could have been served at any fine dining restaurant. The sides of corn, mashed potatoes, and bread were also great. The atmosphere was fun, and the live music that started at 6 pm made the experience perfect. We highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Big Bend. Parking can get tough if you arrive after 5:30.

M
Michael Routh

Got there just about half hour before it opened, short wait, well worth it. The service was phenomenal and the food even better. Huge portions. I recommend anything BBQ. There was a bluegrass band playing which added to the atmosphere.

This was a great experience. The venue is very nostalgic. The food was tasty and the staff was friendly. We had a bit of a wait, but we could order from the bar and watch the live music.

Rolled into a ghost town, only to find some amazing food and a live band playing at the Starlight Theatre. We arrived at 6pm and had no wait and by 6:30, there was a 30min wait on a Saturday evening. Highly recommend

M

The Starlight Theater is an excellent venue to visit for anyone in the area as well as for anyone visiting Big Ben National Park. We stopped by at 6 p.m. on a Saturday during the holiday season. This is also peak season for traffic. The hostess let us know it would 2.5 hour wait. We checked out other local businesses during the wait. The hostess let us in when we checked back. It was worth the wait. They had live music and incredible food. This spot is highly recommended.

Brisket Tacos were really good. Also had the chili cheese burger with fries that was really good.. Finished it off with some ice-cream that was delightful.

There's not many restaurant options in Terlingua, and especially not many with this much history in and around the building. You must 1. Visit and and expire the ghost town while waiting on your table at the Starlight 2. Don't miss shopping Terlingua Trading Company for your unique road trip finds and if you're lucky enough the owners or one of the family will assist you in your purchase. 3. Wait for your table, explore the ghost town, grab a beer for the trading company or the Starlight bar and then, have a seat on the porch where you're guaranteed to catch someone singing and picking some good tunes, and making new friends, dogs welcome even though the signs say otherwise. 4. Take a seat at your table, grab a drink and enjoy the surroundings. We suggest ordering the brisket tacos and or the Terlingua Chili Cheeseburger... You have to, the brisket takes like candy and melts in your mouth said my son and I have to agree. And the Chili is perfection on that burger. So, stand in line get a table and enjoy the wait, it's well worth it in Terlingua when you're at the Starlight Theatre.

A

At first glance, it looks like an average tourist destination. But I have to say that we were very surprised. We read "award winning dish/drink" etc many times on our trip. But the award-winning chili at the Starlight Theater was absolutely fantastic! I can see why it won an award! It was very tasty. The steak and drinks were good too. Friendly staff, lively atmosphere.... we would come again!

On a recent visit to Big Bend, we had the good fortune to eat here twice. Yes, it was worthy of a second visit. Everything we had was outstanding, and watching the sun set on the mountains was a beautiful way to end the evening.

Great place in the Ghost Town. They usually have some good entertainment and some good food. I tried Antelope for the first time, was not impressed. The Quail was good and the prices were not outrageous. Definitely worth the visit.

S
Soumya Mukhija

Their Brisket Nachos were possibly the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly smoked and along with one of their cocktails (something called Pear-fect…) was a gorgeous meal in the ghost town. Their ambience was also lovely, with different forms of art and live music. The waiters were great as well. Also, just beside the place is a cool ice cream truck that I loved. Their home-made chocolate ice cream is delicious!

J
Jeffrey Wilson

Definitely the most upscale place to eat in Terlingua. The menu was unique, including antelope and quail. The Texas style brisket was moist and well prepared. The entertainment was enjoyable. Our server was very personable and bartender was very attentive and quick to get us a drink while we waited to be seated.

S
Steven May

They can get busy on the weekend with visitors to Terlingua. Be patient. Go early or get your name on the list and enjoy a drink at the Cantina or walk the town. They charge $3 extra to share a plate but they increase the portions and bring it out in separate plates. This is great if you don't have a huge appetite. Prices for drinks and food are fair and portions are good. Remember the real reason you are there is for the history and the entertainment so enjoy yourself and take it all in. Don't forget to say "what's up" to Clay Henry.

M

So you find yourself in Terlingua and you are wondering where to eat? Eat at the Starlight Theater. Live entertainment and reasonably good food. Nice selection of Margaritas, I recommend the Prickly Pear. Service was extremely good. They work very hard. Ask them about the food if you are unsure. The chips were very good, probably locally made. Authentic BBQ and other foods await. They do a really good job of managing the waitlist and you can sit at the bar and wait. About 6 the tunes begin. It’s a part of this areas history! P.S. Opens at 5PM.

M
Mayra Hall

Amazing atmosphere in this place! The stage has a beautiful painted background, the tables are all super fun with different designs. The service is great, everyone is so polite and kind. The cocktails are great, and the Margarita is a must! Food was delicious and very well served.

This place is simply amazing. The chicken fried pronghorn is perfect. The margaritas were perfect. Heck, even the corn served on the side and the dinner rolls were amazing.

My wife, my brother and his wife and I showed up about 10 min til 10pm. We didn’t realize the kitchen closed at 10 pm. However, the host went to the back to ask if they could squeeze us in and they did. Was very awesome of them to do. Waitress took our order right away and the food came out promptly. Food was delicious and so were the drinks. The music and overall atmosphere was great and we left extremely happy with our impromptu visit to the starlight. 10/10 definitely recommend and will go back anytime we’re in Big Bend.

The experience here was unexpectedly amazing after a weird introduction to Terlingua, which is tiny. We didn't come in with high hopes, and I was amazed to discover one of the better meals I've had in a long time. We had their fried brussel sprouts, which were probably the best brussels I've ever had in some kind of pepper jelly glaze. A chicken in mushroom cream sauce was a great entree and others enjoyed their burger and chicken sandwich. Really highly recommend this spot. Service was great, atmosphere is really cool, and you won't go wrong.

M

Loved loved the vibes here! Great music, cool ambiance! The absolute best gift shop is right next door. Very unique place overall! Recommend the chicken sandwich, brisket queso, Brussels sprout. Excellent customer service. Don’t recommend the ribeye.

This place is a home run! Amazing food, great atmosphere, awesome service. Hard to believe in such a small town, definitely a hidden gem. Do not miss eating here if you’re passing through. Wife had the brisket plate and I had the brisket tacos, and it was hands down the best brisket we’ve EVER had. Our waiter Corey also recommended the goat milk cheese cake with prickly pear drizzle, and it did not disappoint, absolutely delicious. Prices totally reasonable, and they had Yeungling on tap…Highly recommend this place, do not miss the brisket.

We really didn't know what to expect. Since the line was out the door and along the porch, we were pretty sure that was the place to be. The wait was an hour, but it seemed to fly by with the interaction of other customers plus the huge gift shop at the other end of the porch. The service was very good and the food was amazing. I highly recommend the Brisket Tacos and follow it up with some ice cream or chocolate bourbon pecan pie.

Came here to celebrate my birthday on a Tuesday! It was packed but we were able to get sat within 2-3 minutes. The service was amazing with Shannon serving us, loved her energy and she gave us a little background about herself. The food was good we had the quail, but it was a little tough. The salads wasn't my favorite but the desert made up for it! Overall, would definitely come back and try other items on the menu!

We did a 2-day 20 mile hike in the Chisos mountains, leaving us very hungry as we arrived in Terlingua. We were recommended this restaurant by locals and it did not disappoint. We each got the chili cheeseburger and it was exactly what we were looking for, delicious and filling! The theater itself was cool, almost like a historical speakeasy!

Outstnding table service and fun atmosohere. Live music and good food. The mixed drinks are a little pricy but the overall experience is great. The Starlight Theater is a "must do" in Terlingua. We were there on a Saturday evening. The wait was long but they use an app to track your place in line so we were able to walk around the ghost town and visit the store next door while we waited. Parking in the main lot fills uo fast but there is plenty of parkinng a short walk away.

Good food, great atmosphere. We got there around 6:30 on a Wednesday and had about a 15 minute wait. It got much busier while we were there. The food was good, huge portions.

Good restaurant with variety of options. Tried antelope for the first time. It was good. Didn't blow my mind or anything. Chili was good as well but it is texas style, and I prefer beans in my chili. I had the chicken saute and my girlfriend had salad with grilled salmon. We both enjoyed our dinners and were too full for dessert. Jenna our server was great. They don't do separate checks which is stupid but oh well. Just do the math yourself and they will charge the credit cards accordingly. Highly recommend if you're willing to wait!

Nice building in and out. It got its name, Starlight when there was no roof. They shave a roof now and still have a stage and dancefloor. Nice range of food for all. The chicken fried Texas antelope was tender, unique and delicious. The gravy was based on lone star beer . It was thick and the flavors of beer present from first to last bite.

We were on the wait list for nearly 4 hours. They send you a link and you can monitor the list from anywhere so we went back to our trailer and watched movies and played games while we waited. It was New Year's Eve and the wait was pretty crazy. When they finally called us we sat and ordered drinks. We also ordered the brisket queso which was quite tasty. The question was decent but the brisket added a nice taste. Wife's beer took awhile to arrive and we had to remind them that she had ordered it. They brought me a tea that I didn't order which was a little unusual. Daughter got the chili burger. It was very large and she enjoyed it but couldn't finish it. Son had eaten earlier so he just got chicken tenders as a bit of a snack but he said they were good. Wife had country fried antelope which she said was really good and not gamey at all. I had a standard cheeseburger which was cooked medium and was good. They had live music as well which was nice to have something to listen to while we chatted and ate.

This place seems legendary around here. It does have fun live music and the food seems to reflect the area. We stayed at the Big Bend Holiday Inn, which is owned by the same family and we walked over for dinner. There was an hour 45 min wait but we could go back to our room. We also had margaritas and chips/salsa/guacamole at the patio while we waited. Every night we were there, there was a long line, and cars everywhere. I had the brisket plate.

We were in line by 4:15 but still were told we would be in the second seating. It was spring break and there were several large parties ahead of us. They only have 15 tables. We got a drink from the cantina and went next door to shop and kill time. The store has a great selection of merchandise. As we were walking back they were calling us - we got the last table for the first seating! Our waiter Ben was very helpful. The fried Brussels sprouts he recommended were outstanding. My husband had the chicken fried antelope and I ordered the French dip. Everything was prepared well and served hot. A local musician played guitar and sang while we were eating. We brought home enough food for one of us to have another meal! We talked with a couple who were arriving as we were leaving around 6:30 and they later told us they couldn’t get on the list as they were full for the night.

We came in on a Sunday evening for dinner and it wasn’t packed which was very nice! The atmosphere is pretty dope, dim lighting which I enjoyed! The menu is okay not a large selection but a good selection, we got the chicken sandwich and brisket tacos! I loved them both but ended up loving the brisket tacos more! The chips and salsa were good as well, definitely a chile flavor on the salsa which is different than I’m used to but it was so good! The staff is great and the food came out fast

This place has some HISTORY. Nice to dine in a place which goes long back. I ordered a chicken entree. It was salty and to my liking. The people are friendly and accommodating. I wish I ordered something else. And they are also open till late. Their bar and decor is cool. Not sure if I will be back.

The Starlight theater is a nice restaurant to go during your visit to the Big Bend National Park, be prepared for a +2h wait during weekends if you arrive after 6pm. You need to go to the restaurant in person to add your name on the list, however they have a nice app for you to control your place in line. There is live music and decent food. Don’t forget to try the Pecan Pie! I would have come back, if the waiting time was shorter.

J

For us it didn’t really live up the hype. We did get there early to get a table as soon as they opened but unless you’re standing at the door, people will get in line in front of even if you have sitting outside in the benches for an hour. Food was decent. We liked the brisket queso. However, their brisket is too fatty. Prickly pear margaritas were good. Liked the side salad and Salmon but didn’t care for the plain white rice. Service was friendly. The chocolate pecan pie was more like a chocolate chip cookie than pecan pie.

We've been here twice for dinner. The food is very good for someplace in the middle of nowhere. The atmosphere and live music are what make this such a memorable experience. On our most recent visit we tried Prickly Pear and Santa Elena margaritas and they were both top notch. We had the brisket queso and it was good except for the big globs of fat in the brisket. I wish they'd trim these away. My husband had the filet. It was tender and perfectly cooked. I had the chicken with fire honey special and it was very good, but chicken was a tad dry. Maybe use a bone-in chicken breast? The fire honey was wonderful. We will definitely come here again when in the area.

H

Not so impressed with the food as I feel it’s quite overrated and judged it average at best. However, it being historic and little to no other options around in the town makes it probably worth eating here. There was live music and our server was very courteous. Their award winning chili is the best dish I had here.

Get there early before they open, there will be a line. They seat slowly to not overwhelm the staff when they open, perfectly okay with that. Service was okay after that, no complaints other than our drinks stayed empty for a bit longer than normal but they were busy. Margaritas were all good! Brisket and queso was great, chips are great. We had the Chicken Fried Antelope w/ mashed potatoes and veggies and the Chicken Sandwich with sweet potato fries. Neither were great. The Antelope breading was great but antelope was pretty bland. Mashed potatoes was great, small portion, and the corn was very bland. Chicken was cooked well, there was an overwhelming amount of the goat cheese on it. Make sure you like the cheese if you order. Can't say it was a bad sandwich, it just did not flow together. Sweet potato fries was very salty and barely warm.

The place was packed during our visit and when I mean packed they have 1-2hrs wait so ensure yo go here at 5/6pm to get a place. This restaurant is one of the famous one in Terlingua, TX. While waiting you can order snack and alcohol and stay in their outside sitting area. They have band playing as well every night. The place was so cool that I feel different from other Texas city or town. The host in the front who does all the organizing of the people in line, she was acing it! Very accommodating and approaching too. I am giving 3 stars because of the food and server. We ordered Queso brisket and that was really good! While the Cheese Burger was lacking of taste and dry - the patty and bacon was overcooked too, the fries was good tho. The pork medallion was like a barbacoa taste and the only difference was the meat is sliced - the veggy was good and the rice was dry, there’s a kick so it was nice (depends on your tolerance). Server was nice and approachable but charged us a drinks that we did not order. She’s not organized that night as the table besides us was also have mixing check and receipts to pay and sign. We hope she’s okay - but this situation must not happen luckily we were able to check through again our check before we left the restaurant. Overall, it was still a nice experience will surely go back and try other menu.

You kind of feel obligated to go here while in Terlingua. It was a mixed bag for us. We enjoyed the view but the crowd on the porch was a little rough around the edges. We had appetizers but opted out of eating at the starlight and grilled steaks at our casita instead.

Was recommended this restaurant by a few people we had spoken to, waited only 20 minutes for a table which was perfectly fine, had a drink and sat outside in the sun whilst our table was being prepared. A live singer was performing who was very good. The food was somewhat mediocre, we had a shared started of fried Brussels sprouts with a seasoning and sauce and a main of beef chilli and brisket tacos. It was nice food but I have to say I have had better at another restaurant in Terlingua for less money. Wasn't the blown away meal we were recommended.

I have to give Starlight three stars. We tried to get in one night (Saturday) and were told of at least a 2.5 hour wait so left. Came back Sunday when no music and had no wait. The one dining room has a lot of atmosphere but not a lot of tables. they were out of the brisket platter, the Brussels sprouts app was tasty but pretty salty, the antelope strips app was nothing special, the quail dinner was disappointing as there was so little meat and the blueberry sauce was only fair, and others in my party were unexcited about the taste of their dishes. The prickly pear margarita was too sweet. Still, we came back again later in the week when there was music, a Thursday. That night we had only a 30 minute wait and it wasn’t very crowded. We learned from our first time there to stick to simple items on the menu and we were all happier with what we got. The chicken sandwich was very good. The hamburger was solid, but not exceptional. Sweet potato fries were good on the side. Chili was good. The people playing music were pleasant to have in the background. Beers were fine. Overall worth going to but not worth waiting 2.5 hours for and I’d suggest sticking to the simpler and less expensive items on the menu.

This place was fun but felt like a tourist trap. The food was fine but nothing special. We waited over 30 minutes after being seated just to order drinks, so service was slow. We had way better meals at the food trucks in town.

I’ve been coming to the Starlight Theatre for years and have always recommended it. Upon visiting this time, I had even brought two friends who are visiting Terlingua for the first time and had been raving to them about the restaurant - even warning them ahead of time that there’s a long wait but browsing the gift shop next door is a good way to spend the wait. Unfortunately, our experience tonight was very disappointing. The bearded gentleman at the host stand immediately “greeted” us with an annoyed tone when we walked up to inquire about the waiting list. He told us immediately “we’re not taking anyone else tonight.” I said “oh, ok.. like, we can’t put our name on the wait list?” “Nope.” “Well, can we come back later?” “You can try.” “Uh, ok, should we come back tomorrow?” “There were 150 people waiting at 5pm today so good luck.” There was 0 hospitality involved, no mention of the outside bar that serves drinks and some appetizers that was open and available, it was such a turnoff to be made unwelcome at a restaurant I was so excited to show off. Really truly bummed at the experience that we were given by this host. I understand if you’re busy and booked for the night - that’s great. Just don’t be a jerk. Why not put up a sign instead? Very disappointed at this experience.

Fun spot for the family, underwhelming food. This place may look like the one, but unfortunately it isn't. The vibes of the place is nice, there's a lot of fun for the family, as well as friendly staff. Food however did not meet expectations for a restaurant with such enormous wait times. Our favorite dish were the brussel sprouts, and every other dish seemed to be missing some key ingredient. Another huge oversight is the lack of bathrooms. The only 'bathroom' to service both the restaurant and cantina are 2 outhouse on the side, both with lines as long as the table wait list. With a lot of alcohol being served, having only 1 serviceable outhouse is not only a logistical nightmare, but highly unsanitary. While this restaurant has a rich history with many ups and downs, modernizing on amenities such as bathrooms would be a huge step in the better direction.

Unfortunately after all the hype about this place l was underwhelmed. Their beer selection is uninspiring with the same old mass produced bottled brands. We got the antelope strips which were quite good. I wish l could say the same for the BBQ mesquite brisket. I was told it was slow cooked for hours but it was rather tough, overcooked and tasteless and the sauce was nothing special. The potato salad tasted mostly like raw onions. The beans were average. Basically it was an average meal. Nothing special. The ambiance and service was good. I would come back again and just get appetizers.

My wife and I ate here twice on our trip to big bend. The first night showed up at 5. It was either a 1 hour wait or sit at the bar so since we were just out for a casual dinner after hiking that was fine with us to sit at the bar. Had a good meal brisket queso( which had a large chunk of lard in it) and the antelope burger. Both were satisfying and washed down with some tastey (but small and pricey) margaritas. The second night for our anniversary we showed up at 430 and was seated for a table about 510. Great seat facing the stage hoping to catch the band coming on at 6. Ordered our drinks and appetizer looking to just have some good conversation and music with my bride, but were extremely rushed to order our entree being asked 3 times in 15 minutes if we were ready on the second time of asking us I mentioned we wanted to enjoy our time and watch some of the band. The waitress quickly responded,"there is a 2 to 3 hour wait tonight and that if there were seats in front of the stage available then we could sit there." Being clearly rushed along. After getting our entree before even completing half my meal we were asked if we were finished and trying to take our plates. Asked again 2 more times in 10 min if we were finished and then again by the manager/owner that was standing by for a total of 4 times!!!! I understand being a small restaurant and worried about getting more customers in the door, but should also be concerned with your current customers experience especially when theyre out for a special occasion. If you are that concerned with making more money, I'd suggest expanding for more tables say outside? If that's not feasible, because of a tiny kitchen, then make due with what you have but don't rush the customer out turning a potentially great evening to being turned off by the establishment. Because $$$ seems to be the only goal in mind in this restaurant and not the customer experience I give it 2 stars.

L
Lauren Terry Inspired Art

Okay, the only issue with my low rating was because we were starving and we were told they served food late and when we got there they only served drinks because a band was playing. That didnt make sense to me because you'd want to have food so people could stay longer. We were really bummed because we wanted to try their food that everyone kept talking about and hear live music. It was REALLY hard to hear my husband and we were sitting right next to each other. We had to yell. The waitress wasn't very nice either but she did make a suggestion on where food was being served so that was the only good thing that we experienced there. The service was not good because everyone swarmed the bar and it was hard to get someone to come over to our table. We waited maybe 10 min for someone to come near our table, but we really didnt know who worked there and who was a customer. It really wasn't our vibe. I love live music but it was too wild for us.

C
Cecily Hedrick

Waited 2 hours to sit, food was the worst we had on our 4 day trip through Texas. Wait staff was fine. Bathrooms were outside and disgusting. Don’t waste your time. The live music wasn’t great either and that was our main draw to wait.

A
Aline Westermann

I am torn because everything was going well. We were sat down quickly and served quickly. The food was good and reasonably priced. After we got dessert. I still had half my glass of wine to finish and we were asked to leave the table and sit somewhere else to finish my drink because they have a line outside building up. I was going to be probably another 10min to finish my wine. I would have left a 5 star but I found this so incredibly rude and poor customer service that is leaving a poor taste in my mouth.

A

One of the worst dining experiences ever. The biggest issue is there are limited options in Teralingua and they know it.They treat you like it as well. The waitress was terrible. Never brought a refill, never offered. Her attitude was indifferent at best. Save yourself the disappointment and go elsewhere. I may add we didn’t have to wait. It would have been 10 times worse if I’d had to wait!! Food was meh.

E
Eric Neidig

This place was a complete dump. We came for our anniversary and were told to expect a 2.5-hour wait, which we accepted. After waiting patiently, we were never notified that our table was ready. No text. No call. Nothing. To make it worse, the area felt uncomfortable, with people loitering around who appeared intoxicated, and the overall atmosphere was chaotic and poorly managed. When we finally spoke to staff, there was zero apology or concern. We left without eating after wasting our entire evening. Terrible service, terrible experience, and no accountability. Absolutely not worth the time.

H
Hannah Bearden

Food was great! Service was horrible, bartender started arguing with us and the guest next to us over politics and it was very uncomfortable. We all understand the importance of the wall and how detrimental it would be to this area and NONE of us were in favor of the wall but the bartender still continued to bring it up and telling us that we were wrong (again, none of us were in favor of this wall). Respectfully, I have done what I can do as a citizen such as sign the petition and contacted my representatives but I do NOT want to talk about politics while I am trying to eat dinner nor do I want to talk politics to the person serving me.
