Been going there for years and it's always been a good choice. They have a plethora of delicious and very creative dishes that are also well presented. I once had pink mole there and marlin chilaquiles a while ago, both great. On this occasion we went for breakfast and I had the seafood omelette (had shrimp and octopus) that was accompanied with a small tasty tamal with a side of black beans, very filling and the octopus was deliciously soft. My 88 year old mother had the lengua (tongue) in green sauce that was very tasty and soft which we had asked since she has sensitive teeth and she loved it. It was accompanied by Peruvian beans. They also offer you three kinds of sauces that go from mild to hot. The service is excellent, our waiter was so professional, friendly and accommodating. This is a high quality kitchen that I recommend for breakfast, lunch or dinner. You won't be disappointed. I never have been and I bcan add I have always walked out of there with the satisfaction of having had a great meal.
Great atmosphere, packed to the brim for a Tuesday morning. The Host asked in Spanish how many I replied two He asked the name in Spanish I got it mixed with a number again I said 2 he smiled and said "Name" Embarrassed I said my name. They got a wait staff who spoke English after that, without me even asking. My mom wanted seafood, and the guy offered one that had octopus, shrimp, and Marlin, which was interesting combo, my mom wasn't sure because she never had Marlin before. The waiter said if she didn't like it he would pay for it. We'll she said she loved it, didn't share at all, lol. I ordered the Shrimp Enchiladas, with a beer. The Enchiladas were light and tasty. I only got a partial Pic of it as I ate befor taking a pic haha, my mom finished hers to fast to take a pic of.
Catering to the US customers. Marenca is a well orchestrated restaurant, they go above and beyond to make human connection. The server greeted is with a calid warning highlighting their priority to the curated table settings. The menu is easy to like and you taste the quality of the food. The wonton is crunchy and the tortillas chewy. The fish is fresh and the pears prepped. The servers come to the table in a rhythmic choreography. We left a closer four of friends, feeling nostalgic of the performance of the food pre-covid times.
Wow! Marenca is without a doubt one of the best restaurants in TJ. Very classy establishment, but allows for casual dress attire--the staff are incredibly friendly and our waitress went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. The menu is in Spanish, and sadly, we are not fluent so she made excellent recommendations based on what we like. They offer complimentary pastries and baked goods as soon as you sit down--they are fresh and delicious! We started with quesadillas and they were outstanding. My husband had the steak and eggs, which was extremely flavorful and I had the shrimp Diablo chilaquilles with the perfect amount of heat! We look forward to our next visit.
Great finding for breakfast. From the service upon arrival to the end of the meal, this was a fantastic experience. Had the Pork Belly Omellette and it was amazing. Perfect blend of flavors and texture! Will definitely will be coming back and recommend to anyone looking for a great breakfast while in Tijuana.
I love this place. It is so welcoming and their staff is so nice and friendly. They are often asking if you need anything. I like the fact that they literally show you what they are making. They bring you the plates itself so you can see what you are eating. The chef also comes n tells you the ingredients on your plate! I've been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner and everything I have tried is delicious. I recommend their camarones Al ajillo...it's so bomb. And they are drinks look and taste bomb. Overall the place has a really nice vibe. Highly recommend.
It was one of the best dining experiences. Every drink, every entree, appetizer and dessert were exquisite. The presentation was wonderful too. The only thing that I'd improve is the speed on the serving of the bar drinks, which were very picturesque. My kids gave it 5 stars+, my husband and I agree! We'll definitely be back.
Ok This place is the spot to be. It has a Middle, upscale look and feel to it. Service was on point. Beer was good, homemade tortillas were, thin & awesome yet strong enough to hold what you put in them. The soup was Carrot If I recall correctly, I will order it again when I go. The lobsters were built as porta Nuevo Style (I'm aware I miss spelled it). They were very good, but not Porta Nuevo Sir The wife said her dish was awesome,I did not try it, but it looked good. Tasty little bean flour taco prior to the meal. with three levels of salsa, the very hottest one must have been sead oil, tasty and very hot like I like it.
Food was amazing, fresh squeezed orange juice. Omelette was tasty. The service and complimentary pastries. It’s a must try friendly staffs. Breakfast love the place. Will be back for dinner and will update
Little by little the place is loosing the taste and originality. The options for omelets is a lot but without any flavor
I haven't had any good clam chowder @ TJ's restaurants and this is no exception, the bread make this cream to stand out, I was hoping to be served on a sourdough as typical but instead it was served on a semi-sweet bun type bread supposedly "artisianal". The other plate tongue and mushrooms is meat soaked in a gravy. The food was served hot but unfortunately unflavorful. I can only recommend the red wine from La Reyna vineyards.
We visited this place twice during our three week stay in Tijuana. The food was hit or miss, meats lacked flavor and drinks were mostly sugar and little alcohol. The chocolate desert was good on the first bite but subsequent bite had a very tough texture, may have been old?. Service was good the first time but pretty poor the second time. Its a good place to go once if youre in tijuana for a while.
This is another restaurant in this area that is really delicious. Nice location, very little or no parking, and this restaurant is popular so expect to wait for a table. Service was friendly and quick. I ordered Chilaquiles with Mole and eggs. Price is on par with all the other restaurants in the area. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here, as there are at least a dozen restaurants with a very similar menu, however if you are already there this is an excellent choice that will not disappoint. Can’t wait to try the barbacoa…
The restaurant does not have good decoration or ambience. It's too simple, and the furniture looked like a "school cafeteria." The service seemed like we were in a diner instead of a restaurant. The hostess was sitting at one of the tables - eating food she had delivered from another restaurant, and all the staff were taking turns, eating at that same table, right in the middle of the main restaurant - instead of having a designated place for the employee dining room. Our designated waiter also sat down to eat, without notifying us, and so we had no service for more than 20 minutes. The whole time we were there all the waiters, the hostess, and bartenders were talking loudly and yelling across the room at each other. They were also playing around - singing and whistling to the songs that were playing - with the volume too high - giving the place more like a "bar" feel than a restaurant. They all behaved like kindergarten children without a teacher present. Then there was a janitor cart with chemicals and cleaning supplies in the middle of the restaurant, which was so inappropriate and unappetizing to have it there - since it gives a bad appearance. Then we first ordered our appetizer, and the waiter brought it without the bread that comes with it, and so by the time the waiter brought the bread, the appetizer was already cold. It was also very salty and tasteless, and the shrimp tasted and smelled rancid. So, instead of giving any more of our hard-earned money to this undeserved place, we decided to ask for the bill and go elsewhere. So maybe if you are looking for something very casual, with zero expectations, it would be fine. But we wanted a nice dinner, and this definately is not the place to provide such.
