The OGs Tulum

First time I’ve ever been inspired to write a google review. Had one of the best restaurant experiences of my life at Sustain/OG Tulum. The owner Jonathan is a molecular mixologist and his bar program stands next to (and for a few drinks, topped) any that you’d find in Chicago, New York, or London. Extremely creative with specialty cocktails as well and classics that were just gorgeous, complex, approachable, and exciting (the bartender made some fantastic mezcal Negronis in addition to the specialty stuff). Dinner was also amazing, with a smaller menu and local and sustainable ingredients. There was one small-plates dish that we didn’t love, and they graciously took it back and made the experience right with a round of cocktails. All of the other food we had (especially the whole fish) was absolutely incredible. The bartender, waitstaff, and chefs were so kind and took a lot of care in explaining the menu ingredients with a lot of pride and detail. They were also very conscious about a lactose allergy and made sure any sauces that contained butter was served on the side so that my dining partner could still enjoy it. We ended up talking to the owner for a long time at the end of our meal, exchanging stories about life, cooking, cocktails, and the pursuit of following what makes you happy. I dunno, this review might sound totally goofy but we felt like we had enjoyed dinner with friends and will definitely be back for at least some more cocktails before we go home. If you’re looking for an elevated food and drinks experience that still has the hospitality of the smaller spots in Tulum, this is the place.

The grilled vegetables with hazelnut butter, the corn flat, the tacos with bone marrow, and the catch of the day were a 12/10. Want to go back before we leave and try the rest of the menu.

Friendly & attentive staff, great atmosphere, great food. Had the mushroom tacos (they made a vegan version for me), octopus taco and pork belly corn tortilla (for my bf), and kale salad (was great but really big portion). They recommended a G4 tequila shot, was great. Dessert was red wine, red berries w blueberries. We liked everything we ordered. I would highly recommend this place 👍👌

We went to OG’s for my birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing, we had a pasta dish with shrimp, the beet salad and the rib eye. Everything was delicious. The mixology at this place is worth noting, the drinks are average prices for the area but they are so much better than most drinks I’ve had in Tulum. Jonathan was inviting, friendly and shared his ideas behind every drink that we tried. Highly recommend evening stopping by here to try some of his concoctions!

New favorite restaurant from my recent trip to Tulum. Quaint semi-outdoor setting, warm service, featuring fire-grilled food and inventive drinks. Portions are large and good for sharing. Highlights: - Spiced Sour (scrumptious cocktail topped with a velvety cream of Chambord) - Catch of the day - Corn flat al pastor Menu offers plenty of gluten-free options.

One of the better meals we’ve enjoyed in Tulum. The establishment takes pride in sourcing all-natural, sustainable ingredients from local producers, adding a touch of authenticity and freshness that elevates every bite. The dishes offer flavorful combinations that are cooked to perfection, showcasing the chef’s prowess in blending traditional and innovative culinary techniques. Furthermore, the excellent service, highlighted by a warm, attentive, and knowledgeable staff, complements the outstanding experience. The restaurant is also dog-friendly, catering treats and water to our four legged friend.

Exceptional. This is fine dining but with a casual air. The waiting staff struck a great balance between being attentive and relaxed. I was told the chef trained with Michelin starred chefs and it really showed! I think the stand out dish had to be the gnocchi but the bar was set incredibly high - it was all delicious. Overall, an outstanding restaurant in a very unassuming location. I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone in Tulum!

Incredible food, excellent service, great music. This place was such a vibe. I snuck away from family for a solo dinner on the last night of vacation. I asked for and followed all of Jonathan’s recommendations. He picked a three course menu with cocktail and wine pairings- everything was excellent! The space was beautiful. A must visit for elevated modern Mexican cuisine.

EPIC BRUNCH. They have a killer birria quesadilla with blue corn tortilla. They also have Industry Nights with amazing cocktails, great mezcal, and attentive staff. Good for brunch or dinner!

Came here for breakfast and almost missed the entrance. Very nice little cafe. The waitress was very friendly and explained me the menu Into detail. Ended up having the chilaquiles birra. Food was very good, wish I could’ve eaten more. Definitely recommend the place!

I’m actually crying this food was INSANE. Everything is made fresh and tastes like it. Even the veggie plate looked like a mini forest 😭🙏🏻 snack plate, fish tacos, the short rib - all 10/10. Loved the atmosphere and will absolutely be back!

Marcelo and Carolina, our waiters, provided impeccable service with genuine warmth and attentiveness. They made sure every detail was taken care of, creating an experience that felt personal and special. And let’s not forget Vicente, the bartender. His craft cocktails were out of this world! Whether you’re a fan of classics or love exploring new flavors, Vicente’s creations are a highlight of the evening. OGs is more than just a restaurant—it’s a destination for incredible food, exceptional service, and a truly unique ambiance. Chef David and his team have created something extraordinary here. I can’t recommend it enough!

Wow! Such a beautiful experience at this place! The food, the service and ambience exceeded all my expectations! There are few places in Tulúm like this. The quality of food is like in Arca or even better when it comes to presentation and flavors. I stopped here for breakfast and enjoyed it so much. So I decided to come back for dinner. And the dinner menu was great. The short rib was fantastic! The best I have ever had. The presentation of the vegetable salad was like a piece of art and all veggies were cooked perfectly! The service is top notch! Hugo was super friendly and helpful. They have great selection of Mexican wine. And they do a tasting for you so you can choose what you like. Absolutely love this place. Perfection in everything!

This has been so far the best value for money in Tulum. Great ambience, they even have lamps on the tables so you can see what you eat. The food is fresh and made with love and Caroline provided a great service. This is how a restaurant should be.

Always looking for the best of the best, yes we have found a hidden gem in Tulum! The place is nice, secret garden in Tulum, the salad was first surprise, beets and a souce very tasty, the birria was super and I know the best in every place, this was super for brunch, we will return for dinner, the dessert was the cherry on top of the food, wine selection excellent, we ask for a spirit hard to find in most of good places, they have it! Benedictine served as it deserves and coffee also as expected very good! Overall excellent!

Dope door in La Valeta. It’s deep in the cut, but don’t let that fool you once you get there the atmosphere is beautiful and the food and drinks are top notch. Definitely some of the best cocktails I’ve had in Tulum. I have a miss Kayon tequila tasting room attached to it.

My cocktails were absolutely delicious. My partner thought the bone marrow tacos were the best tacos she has ever had! The food was great. The server was playing the Smiths all night which I appreciated. It was a very chill night full of delicious food. I would recommend!

It was an unexpected find on Google. More sophisticated and expensive than others but a lovely experience, very peaceful, excellent food. It’s more the price that gives it 4. If you know it’s more expensive than average, then you will love it! Such beautiful surroundings and good view of the open kitchen.

Visited April 2024 - Really creative and different menu, taking local classics and putting a refreshing and exciting twist on them. Overall, great food at the OG's, the 'Roasted Beet Salad' and 'The Taco' (Tempura fish, jalapeño mayonnaise) were the best dishes, more punchier flavours than traditional mexican cuisine and delicious. The 'Lamb Barbeque' was beautifully cooked and fall off the bone as you expect, but just lacked flavour/seasoning to bring it alive from that amazing flame grill. Being quite pricey, I just expected a bit more. The chocolate cake was divine and the chocoholics amongst you will not be disappointed. The service was fantastic, really friendly staff and kind. The prices are high with the restaurant being more in the Tulum tourist area but I think it is worth it for their creativity and originality in cooking and giving us something a bit different.
