The meat was so fresh. The beef is extremely good high-quality. You don’t feel sick after you eat it. You digest everything super well I cannot wait to be back. Wow what an amazing Korean barbecue. It’s hard to find the vibe is immaculate.
This restaurant is a must try!! I was so impressed with the food and James is the best manager I’ve seen in a very long time. It’s clear his professionalism comes from years of experience in the industry. My friend and I sat at the bar for a quick drink on a quiet Wednesday afternoon but ended up inviting more people to join us for dinner. We left full, happy and so thankful for the incredible service that is rare to find these days. I stopped taking photos after the bar but I’ll be back again. 10/10!!
We had an awesome time celebrating my son’s birthday . The food , atmosphere and the service was top tier . I knew we were going to have a great time when we walked in and my son was able to spin the wheel and won a free glass of wine.
As an NYC native, Barn Joo has been high on list since they opened in Union square. This is one of those places that just keeps you coming back for more. With so many Delicious and creative menu options to choose from, the dining experience at Barn Joo never gets old. The staff is so friendly, and the atmosphere is warm, inviting and elegant. I recently had the pleasure of being served at the bar by Chris, he made me feel at home on arrival and indulged me with creative cocktail creations with a personalized touch. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for great food and drinks in a welcoming and fun atmosphere. This place is great for large groups or a solo seat at the bar.
Every dish we ordered was more delicious than the last! Great spot to bring friends from out of town & conveniently located to meet up with friends from NY. We’ve had dinner for three and for eight, and have also stopped in after work drinks too! My favorite three fishes might be the kitchen pork belly & jap chai. The crunchy tofu and fried roll are out of site. I also recommend the Paloma cocktail, it is very refreshing. Great service too! I highly recommend Barn Joo.
It was the different Thanksgiving Than I have experience before. I thought it was going to feel Thainksgiving it didn't represent the holidays time but not only I hear christmas music but the moment we enter we were warmly welcome by Mr. Nick. We were able to order our food with him and get recommendation of different types of plates. At the end I order my stone plate bibimbap bulgogi. They were also able to accommodate for my child taste. My child ask me to write that it was delicious and very tasty food. My child drink the mint tea and found it delicious 😋. My cosmopolitan drink was not too strong but smooth. Exactly how I like it.
As a restaurant on union square, I already knew the food would be a little pricier—I didn’t expect it to be actually really good. I got the 3 tacos with the spicy pork and it was fantastic. As a Korean, I’m always a little wary of Korean fusion foods, but the pork really tasted like Korean spicy pork in a taco, and I loved how the veggies and sauces that went with it. Service was great. And it looks like if you make a reservation, you get to spin a wheel for things like a free beer!
The food here is absolutely excellent — flavorful, fresh, and perfectly prepared. On top of that, the service we received from Nick was outstanding. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, and his attention to detail really made the experience special. Dining here truly felt like being “up the hill” — everything was a step above the rest. Highly recommend both the food and the service!
Food was awesome the wings (photo not so good, my bad) were juicy and crispy and the sauce not too over the top, shrimp tempura were plump and nice texture. We also got the oysters which were super fresh! The place had a great vibe, music and servers and hosts were super friendly and accommodating as we had 2 small kids. Coming back again for sure! Would highly recommend!
I stopped by this Korean bar/restaurant after work before heading to a movie. The food was flavorful and satisfying. The service was friendly and attentive, making the visit comfortable. The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting, perfect for a casual meal. Overall, a very good spot to enjoy Korean cuisine!
Ever since I first came to Barn Joo on a date with my ex, I’ve been in love with the ramen, not the man! Deep down, I completely fell for the rich, comforting bowl of beef ramen. Honestly, it made me feel like I didn’t need anything else in life… just that perfect ramen. Who needs a boyfriend when you have that? What made the experience even more special was our server and host, May Thant. She took such thoughtful care of us, anticipating what we needed and making everything feel so warm and personal. It wasn’t just a meal, it felt like being genuinely cared for. Every time I visit the Union Square location, I find myself drawn back to that same cozy feeling. I always leave happy and full both in heart and belly. The hospitality, the warm welcome, the little touches… I never regret coming back to Barn Joo. It’s my little happy place.
My friend and I came for dinner. I highly recommend making a reservation. You get to spin a wheel and win a free item. We got incredible pickled vegetables. Our waitress, May, was so friendly, attentive, and patient. She let us know that if we post our photos, we get a free shot. I already posted my delicious watermelon cocktail on instagram so we got shots of their house soju. We got the truffle fries and fried tofu. Beautiful presentation. I loved the caramelized kimchi. We both got the bibimbap, which remains steaming hot while I'm typing this review like 25 minutes ago. It comes with delicious kimchi on the side. I always wait for my rice to get super crispy at the bottom. We had a great time and will absolutely be back :)

The creamy seafood dish is one of the best dishes in the entire city. Very interesting Korean and Italian fusion going on. Good service. Will go back and have gone back multiple times
George was great. The food was awesome. You can’t go wrong here. We got the meat platter and it’s the best Korean bbq in Union square.

Great food. Good service. Friendly environment Menu was wide. Food options for veg and non veg. Would def go back again. Asparagus and dumplings highly recommend.
Super cozy spot to take friends for some elevated Korean food. For starters, we had their truffle fries and crispy tofu from the tapas menu. Both were tasty but the crispy tofu was a real standout. I tried the Kimchi Fried Rice for my entree and it was quite balanced. Perfectly spicy and not overly salty like some other establishments. Drinks were quite expensive, and frankly above what I was willing to pay for them. We tried the apple + pear infused soju, which was somewhat underwhelming. A mason jar-sized drink was $25. Would highly recommend either going for all shareable tapas or all separate entrees, (skipping the drinks) if you're looking for a tasty bite at a more affordable price.
Well designed concept. However, the cocktails are ripoffs with lots of ice priced at around over 20 bucks. I had the Black Pink and it was not worth it. The Makgeoli, however, was worth it! We got a whole kettle of alcohol for the same 20 bucks. The tuna tartare was all right, a bit bland, and the Sundubu tasted like Shin Ramen powder was added in. The menu needs more variety of tapas share plates.
I came here for dinner on a Friday night, not my first time at this location. This place gets crowded so make a resy if possible; it is a bit expensive. Food isn't too salty, which is great. They don't distribute banchan / side dishes. Service was slightly slow but I chalked it up to the restaurant being busy. Ordered the truffle fries (wish it had a bit more truffle flavor), seafood paella was phenomenal (don't expect a Spanish paella), and the seafood pancake.
I think the food was great overall, and very filling. However, I want to say that the seafood paella wasn't that great as there were so many of the squid that every bite had squid. They should control the amount of seafood put in there. The salmon tartare was amazing probably fav one of the night. The braised short ribs and potato croquettes were delicious too. Overall though, the service was great and the atmosphere was date-worthy and party-worthy. Would come here again but get different things
I came here for dinner on a weekend. We ate at the regular tables; not the BBQ. The service was good, and the appetizers were great, but the bibimbap was just okay and overpriced.

It's a great place to enjoy meals and drinks with friends, offering a wide variety of options. To spin the Wheel, reservations must be made in advance.
Excellent for korean bbq, with the BBQ wisely located on the top floor so the rest of the restaurant doesn't smell. And the food is excellent, although like everything in New York, it's not cheap. …

food was great. Place was a little loud. Be careful not to double tip as I did - the bill comes with gratuity included !
We wanted the BBQ but they serve it for dinner only. So, we opted for pork belly, and Japchae bulgogi. Food was ok and service was quick. ambience is great. If you pay cash, you will get 5% off.

Came here for HH, it's a beautiful space, food was very tasty, love the bar area, the price is a little higher than the most HH places, over all it was great.
Pretty good selection of Korean fare but kinda of pricy. Very good bar selection though!

Visited Barn Joo today at 5pm. Good service and food (korean bbq) but saw rwo rats running around on the upper floor after finishing eating. Avoid until they get rid of the rats!
I was invited to a birthday dinner here. I was initially excited to have some Korean food. Upon looking at the menu, I found it difficult to find something that I would enjoy. However imagine my surprise when the one thing I love regarding Korean food, Bulgolgi, wasn't available as a standalone dish. Its only available as some rice bowl. It was soooo dry and not subtly sweet and flavorful at all. My husband wanted some more meat and we got a super thin 3 to 4 oz slice of ribeye that was about 1/4 inch thin for 54 dollars. The prices were very high against comparable K-BBQ places. I was aso seated in a spot where I had to climb over this massive wooden block every time I needed to get up. The drinks were good at least. We asked for our table's bill to be separate from the much larger party for ease of payment and were told it would be fine. Unfortunately, that wasnt the case at the end of the night and had to play zelle olympics with the rest of the guests. The servers were accomodating and nice. This is my first time dining in Manhattan in 3 years. Would I ever come back here? No.
This used to be one of our staple spots for Korean food and cocktails, but our visit today was really disappointing. The prices have gone way up, but the quality and portions have gone down. The bibimbap is now served in a soontofu bowl and the kimchi fried rice on a plate. The food tasted ok but it didn’t have the authentic flavors — it felt like it was just plated and served, nothing special. Each entrée was almost $30, yet the portions were easily half of what they used to be. The ambiance and service was typical. Sadly, it just doesn’t feel worth the price anymore.
Very overpriced and mediocre korean food—better to walk to K town and get something there. The bibimbap was just okay, it lacked flavor, crispness, or freshness of other spots. To eat it you needed the gochujang, which was also sort of plain. The kimchi and croquettes were fine, soup was not bad, creamy udon got tiring to eat. For the food id give it 3 stars (not too bad) but because of the prices I have to give it 2. Service wasnt great, had to chase down someone to get the bill after waiting for a while.
Tried the one in Ktown and enjoyed it and thought why not try this one. Not sure if the happy hour menu is the same but tried this one due to a good happy hour for $6~ a beer. I went in with a fr…

Mid korean food that's favored for tourists and bad management. They keep up with their reputation for messing up or forgetting drinks. Owner is stingy and cheap!
