Fresh, delicious sushi and super friendly staff! Everything we ordered was so tasty, and the fish was really fresh. The Double Blue Fin roll was absolutely amazing—definitely a must-try. Became my usual sushi spot!
Absolutely the best sushi in nyc! You have to try everything on the menu. It is really that good. The service is one of the best. Isaac the owner is also very kind and very involved with making sure customers are happy and enjoying! And the vibe is a vibe! Great ambiance and attracts great crowd! You won’t regret coming here! Heard they’re opening in miami too so have to check that out once it opens Bh!
Where to begin! What an experience… Welcoming decor, attentive staff, great cozy upscale vibe, owner a true mensch, and the food, simply impeccable and dreamy. Kudos to Isaac and his team for creating such an amazing place. For those in NY who wouldn’t normally schlep out to Queens, think again…. I would come running back to it every week in a perfect world if I could. Seriously - can’t say enough amazing things about this place and the quality of the fish. Worth every penny. I have been to probably hundreds of sushi restaurants at this point, this is top 3, if not the absolute best. Thank you Isaac and the entire Otoro team - you guys went above and beyond and we’ll never forget this dinner!
Everything we tried was delicious. We will be coming back to try the 12 or 15 chef's course because it looked too good to miss out on it. I must admit it did get very busy Sunday at 7:30pm but luckily we went earlier. I would definitely recommend a reservation if you like to eat dinner 7pm or onward.
Everything at Otoro was incredible. The omakase was buttery and fresh, and the flavors across the menu were bold but balanced. Loved the Branzino with parsley butter along with the attention to detail in every dish. Beautiful space, great energy, with food that seriously delivers.
Came here the other night, no words! Owner was so involved and passionate about his business. Everything was so perfect, I was amazing at the creativity of his multiple sushi chefs and what they were making. We ordered the 15 course omakasi which was beyond delicious. The owner who is the nicest guy gave us a roll on the house. Problem is, once you come here, it’s hard to sit back in economy class:) Best of all, pricing was very fair. Highly recommended!!
Had the 15 course Omakase menu. The quality of the food was exceptional. The highlight was aged bluefin otoro, a real treat. The service was a little slow but understandable given we where there new years eve. One of, if not the best kosher option out there. I can't wait to go back.
Nice atmosphere Great service Staff was quick and helped with suggestions and was nice The food was great had some beautiful tuna and salmon that’s a must try if you’re going Get the king salmon and Otoro 🍣 Prices are very fair for city sushi One of the best kosher sushi spots I’ve been too can’t wait to try the rest of the menu Awesome host Great owner really doing an awesome job and service for the kosher foodies out here that want to eat a classy meal ;) check them out if you’re around the area and like fresh tasteful fish
My daughter and I had an amazing meal at Otoro , the food were on point, and every dish was beautifully put together , the delicious tea and dessert with the kindness of the staff by the way thank you to the chef’s for there beautiful presentation complemented the food perfectly!
I was at a restaurant with my sister, the service was excellent, the place was clean and well-designed, and the food was of very high quality. Fresh and delicious food. We will definitely come back here again!
One of the best omakase experiences I've ever had in NYC. Simplify amazing. Sit at the counter and watch the expertise. Outside of Japan this may be my favorite spot.
The sushi is decent, and the fresh rolls are delicious. The establishment is nicely designed.
From someone who eats in both kosher and non-kosher restaurants, this is one of the best kosher restaurants that I’ve ever tried. Many of their dishes were just as good, if not better than other non-kosher alternatives. Each dish is crafted with high-quality ingredients and innovative flavors. The service is outstanding—attentive, knowledgeable, and welcoming. The staff takes the time to explain each dish, and the chefs attention to detail is unparalleled. If you’re looking for a unique and elevated kosher dining experience, this is the place to go. Highly recommend and will be definitely coming back!
The experience was absolutely amazing, 10/10! The service was great and the food was even better. Such unique dishes and tastes, and the atmosphere is incredible. Highly recommend!

I really liked the presentation of each dishes. Everything was so beautiful. The food was great and the pana cotta was unreal! I also recommend the crispy cod.

I dare you to find me a better sushi place than Otoro. I highly recommend the place. The quality of the food, service and ambiance is unmatched! I personally recommend the edamame, the Yellowtail roll, and the King Salmon nigiri! I'll be back here for more. I am here a few times a month
Food was incredible. It's a gem spot that I go regularly now. Omakase is a highlight but if you don't want their 15 course chef tasting, they have great options from the kitchen. Their fish is so fresh. Trust me don't go anywhere else for sushi.

Went with my friends for the first time and it turned out to be a really great sushi spot. The rice was perfect and the fish was fresh. Every roll we tried was great. I’d definitely recommend the charred green salad, fish and chips, crispy potato, double bluefin roll, and the fried black cod roll. All other foods that we ordered were delicious. I honestly want to try everything on the menu. Also, I usually don’t like carrots, but their carrot cake for dessert totally surprised me. It was actually really good. Great food overall, definitely worth checking out. I noticed a lot of Jewish customers too—might be kosher!
Very cute place. We went on Sunday and it was not very busy. The drinks were light and tasty. They were a little inconsistent when we got the same drink but we loved the cocktails regardless. Our server was very good. Unfortunately we had to get him few times but he always had a wonderful smile which really helped. Our food came fast. Few reminders had to be given but again the waiter was very kind which made up for the delays. The lobster roll was delicious. The Korean cauliflower was also great fritters to enjoy. The carpaccio …fried rice…special rolls…so many delicious things to eat. We did not enjoy the Beet dish - definitely skip that. It didn’t work with rest of stuff. Our bill did have 20% tip …even on drinks. We went there simply by reading reviews… we had great time. Should try - Great Job
Decided to go to Otoro on a Sunday night to try some new Japanese food. We ordered the kani salad, bluefin tuna tartare, black cod sear roll, volcano roll, and some beet dish I forget the name of. We were greeted almost immediately by a girl with curly hair and she took care of us for the night. She was super sweet and attentive, even spent a couple minutes giving us recommendations which we ended up ordering. All her suggestions were great! She suggested the tartare and two rolls. And my friend and I decided to order the kani salad which was dry and unbalanced. It said it comes with a mayo dressing but it was so so dry. And the beet dish was just unassuming, it was decent but maybe just something the both of us didn’t like. The vibes were good, interior was nice and the tables were nicely set up. Although, my friend and I didn’t have a great time because of the couple next to us. We had ordered some items before and then ordered again after the couple sat down, so I think they assumed they placed their orders first but our food was coming out before theirs. They then spent the next 10 minutes asking every worker to check on their order, even though food takes time to make… regardless if it’s raw or cooked or whatever. Mind you, they ordered 2 minutes before this. The gentleman spent the rest of the night complaining about the service and how the servers are all messing up and how the interior is cheap, etc. My friend and I tried to finish our food asap so we didn’t have to hear this anymore. There’s room of critiquing but the way he was speaking sounded so entitled and it left a bad taste in our mouths. Another thing, this place is expensive! I don’t know if it’s cause of the neighborhood or where the fish is sourced but most areas in Queens that are the same standard of food that this was, the bill is never over $100. The tab was around $170 without tip. We don’t mind paying for food that’s expensive but the plates were all small and it just didn’t feel worth it to us.

I’d rate this place a 6/10. The food at Otoro was genuinely great, especially considering it’s kosher sushi—the rolls were fresh, flavorful, and hit the spot in a way that’s hard to find with dietary restrictions. That said, the service was absolutely horrible and really dragged down the whole experience. Right from the start, our server didn’t even greet us properly; he just walked up to the table and bluntly asked, “Are you ready to order?” No hello, no menu explanation, nothing. When he finally took our order, he didn’t give a third of our group a chance to even mention drinks before abruptly walking away—it felt rushed and dismissive. The worst part was the wait: We placed our order around 8:45 PM, but our entrées didn’t arrive until 10:15 PM. That’s over an hour and a half! We flagged the server at 9:45 to check on it, and he said he’d look into it, but it still took another full half hour. When the food finally came, I asked the manager what happened, and he explained that the order somehow didn’t print in the kitchen. Despite this massive mix-up, the manager did try to make it right by promising to comp the entrées. However, when the check arrived, the entrées were still listed, plus an item we ordered but never actually received. The manager was nice about fixing the receipt and even threw in complimentary dessert, which was a thoughtful gesture. All in all, I’d go back only because the food was very good and I live very close by, but I really hope the service improves next time—otherwise, it might not be worth the hassle.

I don’t normally leave reviews, but Otoro was so disappointing that I feel obligated to warn others. My fish came out dry with zero seasoning. For a place that markets itself as an unforgettable dining experience, that’s inexcusable. The sushi was somehow worse. The fish tasted like it had been sitting out all day, with a strange odor that made it hard to eat. The rice was hard and clearly not fresh. It felt like they were trying to do too many things at once and failing at all of them. Service was just as bad. Our waiter disappeared for long stretches, messed up the drink order twice, and when we politely asked about the fish being dry, the manager shrugged and said, “That’s how our chef makes it.” Unbelievable. On top of that, the atmosphere didn’t match the price point at all. Sticky tables, dirty glasses, and loud music made it feel more like a dive bar than a “fine dining” restaurant.
