Avis sur Restaurante Salvadoreño Van Nuys
This place has a fun atmosphere. Stay away if more than ambiance music is not your thing. This place gets lively. The pupusas are goo, and the service is helpful, quick, and friendly.
I always order through doordash and the food has always been fresh, hot and delicious. I love their mixed pupusas, the chicken tamales are fire!!! I always order their fried plantains which are super yummy. Prices are extremely affordable. I’ve never dined in person so I can’t say much about the service, but the food is great.
This place was really good, I was surprised actually because I don't believe the rating it had before does it justice. Their pupusa were incredible. They were big, fluffy, and had plenty of filling. They have a full menu that has most of what you might be looking for in a Salvadoran restaurant.
I asked for a Regia ...nel. I asked for a Pilsener...nel I didn't order Pupusas and the waitress asked me twice if I did. Overall I liked the good looking chela mona I messed up, I should I asked her for her phone number. But !!! She looked so married, nevermind.
We saw this place because it is near my work. I decided to try it. Place was busy and it only had 1 waitress. We were able to sit wherever we wanted. Server was so busy she got to us eventually. We decided what we wanted quick and it just took a while for our food to get to us. Once we got out food we shared it amongst each other. Rice, shrimp, and chorizo was good. I got pupusa and it was okay not the best.
I ordered a beef soup and I was so disappointed! I had asked the waitress what type of meat they put and she said beef ribs. Well when they brought the soup it was bone with fat and no meat and the soup itself didn't taste good. I then brought it up to the waitress attention and she said " hay Dios Mio!" I'm like " I'm sorry but I'm not going to pay $17.99 for a bone with fat soup and no meat. " So, she took the whole soup and had the nerve to want to charge me for the soup. She literally argued with me until she eventually removed it from my bill. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO NO ONE ITS A WASTE OF MONEY!!! THIS IS MAINLY A BAR !!
Only the pupusas are okay. Everything else was not good. The food was disappointing, and the service was poor. Overall, not a good experience and not worth returning.
The place sucks! Tables were very sticky the server was not attentive nor was she acknowledging that we needed something. The pupusa had to much masa very lil ingredients the beans were very salty there want enough chicharron in the pupusa and the salsa was watery not tomatoes on it and the curtido barely any… and gave us very little napkins and tried to give us more towards the end when we were about to leave.. I don’t ow how this place is still opened
Staff was not friendly and food is lacking in taste. Visited for the first time and probably will not be back again. Edit : The review is for the right place and you were not closed when I visited. Very rude and unprofessional like your comments. Do better!
Walked into the restaurant and sat down to have a meal. I order a cup of water and give water bottle since to push me to order to go. I order to sit in and enjoy my meal. When handed the plate it was thrown at me. When leaving I was judged to the point of defamation of character.
Weather was 100 outside & we come in and it was soo hot they never put the ac on upon request it was horrible! Food was ok and tasted not the best . Never coming back
Called to order ahead, (first time calling and going there). The lady hung up on me (probably by mistake). Called back and ordered, asked what they recommended and she said “whatever I want to eat “… got there in person and asked the same lady (Hispanic in her late 30s early 40s recognized her voice) for a recommendation for a plate but that would be quick, and this time she said “I don’t know”. Now I understand why the 6 people sitting at the tables seemed so quiet and upset. I ended up ordering some pupusas and asked for some extra coleslaw and she said she would sell it to us, which I told her that was fine. I gave her the cash and just left. She didn’t give me my change ($5 more or less) but I could care less at that time, just wanted to leave. I didn’t really want to leave her a tip though.
It took us almost an hour to get our food. The food was not great the chicken tasted like it was yesterday. Also my sister ordered a hamburger which came after every got their food. She also said that it had a lot of mustard like a lot. But honesty I wouldn’t come here again.
One star, staff is friendly and the horchata is good. The food and desert i ordered looked good but it lacking in taste. The two pupusas were revuelta, more cheese on one and more beans on the other, it did balance flavor. My platano empanadas had a funny after tasted, maybe they were yesterday's leftovers. The sauce for pupusas was runny and bland. To top it off they are super over priced. Not coming here again.
