Great value for money, service was quick, owner very nice and the food excellent
The food and atmosphere were great, but best of all is the owner. Mario is a beautiful soul and we found his company to be very valuable.
Perfect stop on our way to Zermatt. Warm fire. Kind host, lovely staff. We had big bags which were not a problem.
Wonderful place to stop for lunch. The pizzas are fantastic but if you try the specials you will be rewarded. The spaghetti cozze was delicious. The owner is very friendly, speaking some English, French and German and visiting every table. Feels like you are eating at a friends home.
Stopped here as it was close to our hotel, and it had good reviews. I ordered a calzone, and the crust was perfect! The meat was plentiful (but I think they forgot the spicy salami). It was too much for me to finish without being miserable. The owner was a joy to talk with. We will probably go back before leaving the area.
Nice place, close to the station, but feals really authentic! Some places to sit outside, inside has an nice, old atmosphere with brickwork ceiling and wooden furniture. The staff was very friendly, taking their time to explain the dishes and checking how I felt. Had gnocchi with chestnuts which tasted amazing, unlike anything I've ever tasted. Very reasonably priced as well!
One of these rustic places with amazing food, a charming owner, a fire place, and absolutely ok prices. Really unbelievable that it is so close to the train station. Usually you only find tourist traps around the stations. I had polenta with a HUGE quantity of mushrooms, my friend some homemade ragout. Super tasty. The wine too.
3 of us dropped by as the restaurant came up on Google within walking distance of our accomodation in Domodossola as well as being open late. The place had good reviews so we decided to go for it. We were well greeted by an elderly at the front desk. There is no need to order table upfront and this Tuesday evening very few guests were there. We decided to have our food indoors but outdoor dining is slso availsble. We were shown to our table by a young man that also took our order. We ordered drinks, beer, water and cola, all delivered quickly. Whe then all ordered the same pizzas, unfortunately I cannot remember the name of it, that had mozzarella, rucola, spicy salami, chili peppers and some more. As with the drinks, short wait for the pizza and the pizza maker himself brought out some chili oil an pepper for us to add. Now.. a conclusion after this long story... right out fantastic pizzas. If you are in the neighborhood or are ready to take a ride for a good pizza in a clean and good environment with great service... be sure to visit Pizzeria Fontana.
Local pizzeria with the most amazing flavours packed into one pizza. Beautiful dough, crunchy yet chewy at the same time! A must visit when in town

Awesome place, awesome owner. First quality food. For 5 guys we paid around 100€ so the price is quite cheap. Highly approved

This is a large, popular, family-friendly restaurant... The team is welcoming, everything runs like clockwork, the menu is trilingual and the food is industrialized. The pizza base was chewy and bready, but the meat dishes and salads were better. The tiramisu was spectacular: lots of subtle flavours and really fresh.
Carissimi! Don't be fooled by the book's, er, the cook's cover. It's a bit worn-looking outside and dark inside, but it's spotless (also the bathroom, so mi raccommando! behave yourselves!). Authentic everything with owner Mario's smiling generosity. Wood burning oven churning out the Real Pizza that doesn't leave you thirsty. Super fresh cozze / mussels every Friday and Saturday. The almost overflowing oil laced with peperoncino in the ceramic jar with its perfect top. Mario is multilingual: Italian, Valais French, and German as the base. He's also super-friendly, and runs a tight food and entertainment ship with events! Qui si mangia come una volta, with quality and price ratio. We danced before entering when we saw fresh mussels tucked on the bottom left of the varied, focused menu posted outside. Such menus are traditional with the advantage that you can only eat Well in such a no-nonsense, no useless frills Osteria . . . including the most reasonable €25 bill for two. A good sign: Regulars like the border police and local tourist guides. After you've packed away your robust serving of fresh cozze, pizza, pasta etc. all washed down with my fave wine, Primitivo di Manduria, you will be in an excellent mood to either experience Domodossola or drag your bags and tackle the station's platform stairs. But given La Fontana's lightening quick service, the only things you will have to wait for will be your train and your next trip to this town. After arriving in the station, you can make a beeline for La Fontana, only a 10 minute walk going left after exiting the majestic station and stopping at the vertical sign about 200 meters later on your right. N.B. An extra star for Mario's gentlemanly customer caretaking: He saved us from parking fines by urging us to put our cardboard time card on our dashboard. Mi raccommando! However, don't expect such service on Monday as La Fontana is closed that day! So plan your trip in advance and sit back to receive. See ya soon, Mario! And Grazie Mille! A presto!
Authentic osteria frequented by locals and tourists alike. It has a small outdoor terrace right on the entrance stairs. Staff is very friendly and service is good. We had pizza which was nothing fancy, but more classic style. Very tasty nevertheless. Limited parking is available in the whereabouts. Prices are average and reasonable.
No English menu here. Glad that someone from the next table offered to translate. I wanted to order a pork spaghetti, ended with with penne. Had a glass of rose wine as well. Food is ok. Not very f…

We found from posts that its opening hours was from 17:00, so we arrived there for dinner at around 17:30. After entering the restaurant, we could not find anyone (neither staff nor customer) but all tables were already set-up. Any advice in such situations in Italy?
