Ottimo ristorante, porzioni grandi, cibo squisito. Polenta concia eccezionale!
We came with the family for Sunday lunch. The atmosphere is refined, clean, and full of period charm. The owner is very friendly and helpful. They have a small, very characteristic upstairs dining room. The dishes are fresh, typical of Piedmontese cuisine with hints of Puglia, such as the excellent extra virgin olive oil. Dishes are beautifully presented, with authentic flavors prepared in the right way. The wine is good. I didn't try the house desserts because we were full, but we'll be back! There's no set menu. Prices are average, but the quality of the products is decidedly high, so that's fine!
Family-run restaurant. Very courteous, polite, and friendly staff. The restaurant was recommended to me by friends, and I would recommend it again, as we had a relaxing and delicious lunch. The menu offers Piedmontese dishes at affordable prices, made with quality ingredients. I find it perfect for those who want a quiet lunch in a welcoming setting, or for those who want to enjoy a family lunch or dinner. There's also a bar and a small newsstand. They also have a party room. We'll be happy to return!
"Not just a pleasant discovery, but a true journey through flavors and culture." A place where the food is exquisite and authentic, and you can feel at home. The owner takes you by the hand and guides you not only through tasting traditional and delicate dishes, but also through stories of antiques he's passionate about, like a magnificent gramophone in perfect working order. Thank you for making our lunch truly special. Until next time... we'll definitely be back!
We've tried Claudia's cuisine on other occasions and were thrilled! The atmosphere was very welcoming. This time we tried the bagna cauda: truly excellent!! 😊 Followed by an amazing dessert: chocolate, pears, and walnuts.
Polenta-themed evening, a trio of appetizers: white ostenga polenta with porcini mushrooms, red pignoletto polenta with venison stew, local island polenta seasoned with Lanzo Valley cheese, and a cake with chestnut cream and melted chocolate. Excellent rating, quality ingredients cooked to perfection. The chef was excellent, and the husband was friendly and charming in serving. Definitely worth trying again.
We visited this restaurant for the first time for a family lunch. The place is beautiful and the staff and owner were very welcoming. The dishes are traditional but of excellent quality and very carefully prepared, from appetizer to dessert. The owner's friendliness makes the atmosphere very family-friendly. Excellent experience, we will definitely return and recommend it. Fulvia and Maurizio
On Sunday, we celebrated a family birthday at the Vecchio Borgo, and it didn't disappoint! Simple yet tasty and authentic cuisine, featuring seasonal, local ingredients. Instead of dessert, I ordered a marocchino, the best I've had in years. The owner is incredibly friendly and welcoming. A little gem is the gramophone, which works perfectly; ask to listen to it; he'll be happy to accommodate your request!
Excellent cafe and snack bar. Very clean. Very kind and friendly owners. You can also find a hard-to-find drink: Tamarindo! A truly refreshing nectar!!! Try it too!!!
Had lunch here for the first time. The welcome was very warm and friendly. The appetizers were excellent, especially the Russian salad and veal with tuna sauce. Both the first and second courses were good. The owner was very friendly and always available to offer suggestions on the dishes. Good selection of wines. The price was reasonable given the high quality of the food.
While searching for a last-minute restaurant for a Sunday lunch for two, we were immediately impressed by their hospitality. The kindness and attentive service continued throughout the meal, making it a truly positive experience. High-quality food, compliments to the chef, whom we met at the end of the meal. Each dish was prepared with dedication and using quality ingredients. The dessert was a perfect finish. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended. Now that we've discovered you, we'll be sure to see you again. Manuela and Riccardo
We dined at this restaurant on Friday evening. They welcomed us warmly, offering simple yet delicious dishes: Piedmontese appetizer, strascinati with basil pesto, and a delicate, harmonious braised beef. To conclude the meal, "the alchemist" Fabrizio delighted us with his lavender-based distillate. I'd say it was all excellent. Sincere regards. Thank you. Paola and Luigi
Been here for dinner Awesome experience I've tasted pretty much everything they had on the menu and it was all more than delicious Dishes prepared with care and noticeably top quality ingredients and tasted amazing, it's hard to find something better. (I could have eaten four portions of their ravioli and still want more) The owner is probably the coolest and funniest I've ever met (and I've met many), he created a nice and welcoming atmosphere as if we were guests at his own house. He genuinely cares about his clients and has ton of fun taking care of them. He makes homemade selection of grappa and various liquors which you should definitely try We had a nice chat about how he made them too Surely won't forget the good time we had I recommend ordering a full meal (starter, first, second and dessert), maybe try to order different dishes from the menu if you're not alone, so that you can get the most out of the experience. 10/10 Would definitely come back

We came to this lovely restaurant with our family for Christmas lunch. The menu was simple, tasty, varied, and beautifully presented, with friendly and efficient service. Despite the crowds, the atmosphere was pleasant and homely. A thoroughly positive experience, and I highly recommend this place. Its uniqueness is also due to the well-stocked newsstand/bookstore with local publications for mountain enthusiasts. We will definitely be back. Kudos to the owners and staff, who always have a smile on their faces!
Nice place, very large. I stopped in after a motorcycle ride and had a plate of agnolotti in walnut sauce, which was truly delicious. The Nebbiolo they serve by the glass is also quality. I had to wait a bit for my food, but they were almost finished serving, and I think the wait was a guarantee that they actually cooked my dish to order.
Seeking some refreshment in the Piedmont hills, we found ourselves in Ala di Stura, Ceres, and Mezzenile, and it was here that we stumbled upon the Il Vecchio Borgo bar and restaurant. Surprisingly, Fabrizio greeted us with genuine kindness and courtesy...not your typical noisy bar or restaurant, but with just a few patrons. We were served by the courteous staff, and the food was more than delicious: delicious (I'm holding back on a lower rating because I believe it can always be improved). We'll be back and highly recommend it.
Well... From the outside it's very nice... Then you go into the newsagent's... We had a very good dinner, in the sense that the dishes were tasty... The bread was embarrassingly fresh from the freezer and very limited. We ate in the basement under the stairs. The atmosphere was shabby, with stuff scattered here and there... it's not typical of the mountains. It's a shame because the gentleman serving us is very kind.
