Avis sur Sushi Ku Visalia
The restaurant is cozy and the food was amazing! The atmosphere was pretty lively with how many people there were. The server was quick to take our orders. The server brought our food and I asked for some extra napkins. It wasn’t until I was waiting for a bit and halfway done with my food that I happened to get her attention again that she mouthed to me “napkins” like she suddenly remembered. It was a busy night which is very understandable. However it looked like our waitress was more so focused on the bar, which is at the back of the restaurant and I was seated almost 2 tables away from the front door. It wasn’t until towards the end of my meal that even other waitresses started attending towards our table. I don’t think this was their fault, like I said it was busy. But the sections they serve should be closer rather than having a worker serve in both the front and the back. Just to make sure things like this don’t happen.
The rolls were delicious, the rice was great, there was a lot of filling, the ramen was excellent, and it didn't smell like pork like many places. Our kids ate everything. We'll definitely be back. I highly recommend it.
I'm kind of bouji with my sushi and only eat the best, needless to say, THIS, is my new favorite spot! I've almost tried all the specialty sushi on the menu, and just had the Nigiri set with a couple bottles of good sake. Everything here so far is fire!! 🔥🔥
By far the best sushi spot ive been too. I have my favorites of course. But this spot is above and beyond expectation. It is no wonder why this spot is busy every night. The chef..... phenomenal! And his su chefs compliment him with abilities others cant. I drove 5.5 hrs just to experience chefs amazing choices again. Blown away again!!!!! Thank you sushi kuu for another great experience!! Id go on.
This is the best quality sushi in the valley a d one of the best sushi places we have been to. We almost exclusively get their sashimi because of the high quality and that it is treated as true sashimi and not just a plain cut of fish. Their calamari is also fantastic and not heavy like most. If you like sushi, this is the place for you!
Amazing food and service. Will have to return with so many choices to try. My new must for sashimi and nigiri. Great beer and wine selection as well.
You know, im never all that excited to get sushi in the central valley. in my californian mind, morro bay seems like the shire and visalia is like mordor (specifically distance-wise) but then you think about it; the coast isnt really all that far. however, you might be slightly alarmed at the amount of sushi places in the central valley. sushi king, yumyum sushi, kuu sushi, Bobby’s One Stop Ramen ‘n’ Sushi Shop (Now with a Drive Thru!), the list goes on. then you eat the sushi here and u learn that there is only one Lord of Fish in the central valley, and he is kind to his hungry disciples.
A place that should be on everyone's list. If you're not from the area this place is worth the trip from Fresno or Clovis. If you're a person from Tulare or Visalia and you've never been then same on you because you are missing out. This place is always good and consistent. They're always busy so the word is out. The rolls, the sashimi, bento boxes, and appetizers are must orders. The service is always impeccable. For this visit we got the sashimi platter, spicy tuna, popcorn chicken, chicken teriyaki bento box, and another roll that I can't remember but it was topped with eel. My kids love it here as does my wife also. If you don't come, oh well more for the rest of us.
We learned our lesson arrive early or be patient. The food is absolutely worth the wait. Everything was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. I’m usually picky about nigiri, but every piece had me excited for the next. The service was excellent, and the overall vibe of the restaurant made the experience even better. We’re already planning our next visit, this time with friends, so we can explore even more of the menu. Can’t wait to go back!
I don’t know what your non-coastal sushi is like but this place is a hidden gem. 🤩 My favorite sushi is Shiro Sushi in Seattle, WA (aside from places in actual Japan) and this place is right there. With the freshness of the fish, the subtle actual use of real wasabi, real crab, and the perfect balance of sushi rice vinegar - I was in heaven. Amazing sushi chef! 👏 I had the Chirashi bowl, cucumber salad, and a craft import beer (see pic). I literally would have paid twice as much for this quality. Can’t recommend highly enough!
Wow wow wow wow wow absolutely unbelievable! Chef Albert you deserve every award possible for a Japanese restaurant!!! I hope the locals of Visalia realized how absolutely blessed they are to have Chef Albert and sushi Kuu! I work at a fine dining Japanese restaurant in Las Vegas and there’s no shortage of excellent Japanese restaurants here. we have many! Additionally, I grew up in New York City, where I ate at many incredible Japanese restaurants and I can tell you right now. It does not get any better than this! We stumbled upon this place during our week visit to the sequoias for lunch and we were absolutely blown away by the excellent service and even more excellent delicious fresh Fish that Chef Albert had to offer us. we loved it so much we came back twice for dinner before we went home to Vegas. This is high-quality fresh fish, and he has such an incredible assortment. A lot of fish that we can’t even get at home. The best part was having the honor and pleasure of sitting with Chef Albert at the sushi bar and being able to interact with him. This restaurant gets a 20 out of 10 we will be coming on vacation more just to dine at his establishment. Thank you for everything. We wish you so much success!
Best sushi in Visalia. Make sure you get there at the non busy times. When they get busy your wait will be long. Crew does a decent job on service but there is room for improvement there, especially when they are swamped. The food, sushi and atmosphere makes up for it. Newer location is much bigger. Albert the owner is a nice guy. You'll see him behind the Sushi bar every day.
Ok there is good sushi places then there are GREAT SUSHI PLACES!!! This one falls under great. They have the coolest no section service which means every server is your server and they all are so helpful and kind. We tried the pineapple saki and Man it was good. With a light beer. We had the lion king roll, green goblin (not pictured) and another super awesome one. But they were all so delicious. The environment was fun in downtown visalia. Also the owner Albert (I believe that was his name) was front and center making sushi. Also the other sushi chefs were so kind and helpful. We ended up needing our 3rd roll to go. And they boxed it up no problems. If I could this place would get a 10 out of 5. I will be back fs.
I am always looking for new places to try, and when I saw this restaurant on "dine and dish," it was a must. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and service on point. The popcorn shrimp 🍤 was a must-have. We would have had 2 of them. The dragon rolls were very good that we had 2 of them. The sashimi was OK, but in all fairness, it was fresh and very tasty. Would we come back? Most definitely. We had to wait 30 minutes to be seated and was worth the weight.
Me and my wife came here for early dinner after a long work week. I am not a big fan of Sushi but I wanted to take my wife out for something a bit different than our usual American food. In short this place really delivered and I was really surprised at how much food we got for the price very unexpected. I will let the pictures tell the story but would recommend but get there early as we were leaving around 6PM there was quite the line forming outside.
Bento box is filling comes with a side salad as well. Chicken teriyaki is flavorful and tender. Beef slices are thin and melt in your mouth. California rolls are good and taste like most California rolls I've tried. Called ahead to order and picked up but I would like to dine in soon; the atmosphere was very inviting and tables are spaced out nicely. Staff is quick to greet each customer and make sure everyone has been helped.
Excellent quality of fishes! Very fresh! They use real Wasabi instead fake powder. My first time ever see a restaurant write down each of fish name on the take out box by the their positions, this give me a hint that clearly knows what I’m having. Definitely worth every penny. Keep up the good work!!
Nice busy restaurant in the okay buddytown of Visalia. I wanted to eat sushi since there were many Mexican restaurants around. I wanted something different. I looked on Yelp and found this place. So we decided to check it out. We walked in, and it was pretty busy, but we sat down right away. The server was nice. Took our drink order right away. We ordered a tempura bento, sushi bento, tofu, and garlic edamame. The food came out pretty fast! Edamame was hot and had lots of garlic. The tofu dish was okay. I just wish the sauce came separately cause it made it soggy. The tempura bento box came with a pile of tempura, California roll, rice, and salad. The tempura was delicious. Battered perfectly and nice and crispy. The sushi bento was good. Choice between California roll or Spicy tuna and 5 pc nigiri. I chose spicy tuna. The fish tasted fresh. Spicy tuna roll was like any other place, but the nigiri was yummy. Nice thick slices of fish and not too much rice. Service was good. She checked on us a few times. I would recommend this place if you are craving sushi and don't want mexican or sandwiches.
Whenever we travel to this town, stopping by this sushi restaurant is a must. The dining experience here is truly upscale, thanks to the owner's artistic approach to sushi-making. He takes great pride in sourcing his fish directly from Japan, and you can taste the freshness in every bite. The sushi roll collection is not only extensive but also incredibly flavorful. It’s a delight to see the original owner crafting the sushi himself, showcasing both skill and passion for his craft. However, I must mention a concerning aspect of our visit. We observed an employee handling fried shrimp with her bare hands, transferring them into dishes without gloves. This was repeated multiple times, which was off-putting, especially since the sushi chefs, including the owner, were all following proper hygiene practices by wearing gloves. Overall, while the sushi remains a highlight and the quality is impressive, I hope the restaurant addresses the cleanliness concerns to ensure a consistently enjoyable experience. We’ll definitely return for the sushi, but we hope to see improvements in food handling in the future.
A small dumpling appetizer 1 soda A Katsu bento box A basic spicy tuna roll with no extra frills 2 pieces of mochi for dessert The total with basic tip just under $60.. the waiting area up at the front is small and can be cramped. We got seated right in the middle of the restaurant and it was pretty loud. You could hear both parties convos next to you like you were eating with them lmao. My sushi roll was a basic non premium tuna roll and it was boring and for almost $10 I could have gotten a more exciting sushi roll at the grocery store. The chicken katsu bento box was pretty good though and although it was $20ish dollars for that alone it was enough to share between two people. The dumplings were mid and over priced as an app. The two pieces of mochi as a dessert were dressed up with some whip cream and was a sad excuse for a $5 dollar dessert. The service was mediocre, they do not dedicate servers to tables and a few servers all float around and help all tables which can be chaotic and cause order confusion. The guy owner walking around with a lady who was shadowing him was very nice. The servers were kind but very busy and curt but not rude. Super busy for a Tuesday evening. Would I go again? Not unless I absolutely wanted to.
