10/10 experience all the food was so delicious. All the staff were so kind and attentive. Best quality fish ever. It melts in your mouth. I think this is the best place to get sushi in DC.

Perry's is becoming my favorite neighborhood spot in DC, essentially everything about this restaurant is perfect. I also love that they've been a staple of the community for decades now and I can easily see why! The sushi is incredible and high quality, especially for the price point. I had to try the famous udon carbonara, and it is my favorite dish I've had at any restaurant in DC. The service is great every time and everyone who works there really makes you feel welcomed. The only minus is that the indoor seating can be spaced closely to other tables in some spots, but understandable given that the restaurant is in a busy part of the city. Otherwise, the ambiance is beautiful and very cozy!

Incredible Sushi, Cocktails, and Value! My experience at Perry's in D.C. was absolutely amazing! If you're looking for fantastic sushi, this is the place. The sushi was incredible; the fish was super fresh and every piece was excellent. We loved the variety of fresh options to share. Their cocktails were also a hit! I would totally recommend Perry's for a nice, yet affordable dinner with friends. Just a heads up: it’s clearly a hot spot, so make sure to book a reservation well in advance!"

Really unbelievable DC gem. Gorgeous restaurant set up inside and really wonderful rooftop with first-come-first-served bar seating. I cannot say enough about how incredible the food is here. Very accommodating to dietary needs, like vegetarian and gluten free, without feeling like there is even a tiny bit of diminished quality or value. Kind, thoughtful, and helpful staff, too. Might be one of my all time favorite restaurants.

Perry’s is the best! Julia was my server, and she was amazing. She was so attentive, kind, and gave us great recommendations. She was very knowledgeable of the menu, and was super accommodating when it came to my allergies. I had the Udon Carbonara, and will definitely be coming back.

This was our second trip to Perry’s. The sushi is fresh and appetizers and other entrees well thought out and prepared. The Karaage fried chicken was just incredibly tasty. This place is a favorite!

I can't say enough good things about this place. The service was great with spot on recommendations. The shrimp burger was mind blowing. Who knew shrimp could be a burger? These folks, that's who. The mango cocktail, the name I've forgotten, sorry, was so good. A little spicy but just right. We also had the upon carbonara, which again, who knew that was a thing. I got to smash the egg yolk and mix it around in the noodles before eating it. 😋 I can highly recommend eating here if you're in the area!

We went to Perry’s to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday with family. The atmosphere was modern and clean. The food was delicious no doubt about it. Out of everything we ordered what really stood out to me was the fried rice (a must get) and the sushi. The service was friendly but we were waiting a while to order entrees and get the check during a busy time.

This is ALWAYS a good place to go. The drinks are super good and the service is great. But the food is the star of the show. I highly recommend the squash blossoms as well as the carbonara. Also any sushi you get will be good.

Yes, I would absolutely go back. It's not your traditional sushi joint - the vibe is more chill and social. The sushi - wow, I wasn't expecting it to be so good. There's a wonderful selection of fabulous fish cut just right. And their Sake menu is something to explore. The service is good and attentive. And for three people ordering 4x apps, 20x pieces of sushi, and 2x rolls with fresh Wasabi- it was about $360 in total. (20% service charge is included)

Went here for restaurant week and the entire experience was amazing. The staff were phenomenal, very kind and professional, the food was amazing, and the atmosphere is great. Perfect for a date or to treat yourself. The happy hour is also a great deal for the quality of food and drinks. Their rooftop is also amazing. Zero complaints. Absolutely will be back.

If you’re looking for an excellent experience with brunch + drag queens show, that’s the right place! Go for it and you won’t regret! I went today (Sunday morning) with my partner and we had a such great time, with great staff serving us and a delicious food. At the end of the show the performers came up to us and appreciated us and we took awesome pictures. It was a blast! 💜Thank you, guys!

Perry's came highly recommended and did not disappoint. We had some hot sake, the garlic edamame, kaarage fried chicken, mochi agedashi, udon carbonara, shrimp katsu burger, Okinawa shikuwasa tart, and the red bean mondaka. Everything was fantastic and very unique. I love the decor, and every staff interaction I had was very pleasant. Can't wait to come back.

Perry's in Adams Morgan offers an exceptional dining experience that seamlessly blends traditional Japanese flavors with modern culinary techniques. During our recent visit, we indulged in their Restaurant Week offerings, starting with appetizers like Miso Grilled Lotus Root & Avocado, Fried Shishito Peppers and Eby Fry Caesar Salad. The Sashimi Poke Bowl, Wagyu Curry Rice, and Roasted Trout with Miso Romesco stood out among the mains, but the Udon Carbonara was the undeniable highlight—its rich flavors and perfect texture made it a must-try. Desserts like the Warm Miso Chocolate Cookie with Vanilla Ice Cream provided a delightful conclusion to the meal. The Japanese Negroni was a refreshing and well-balanced cocktail choice. The service was impeccable, and the ambiance struck a perfect balance between casual and elegant. Perry's continues to be a top choice for those seeking innovative Japanese cuisine in Washington, D.C.

Perry's Restaurant is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Adams Morgan. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was captivated by its charming ambiance and warm hospitality. The menu offers a delightful array of Japanese dishes, each one showcasing the chef's culinary artistry. I was particularly impressed by the Salmon Lovers platter and the Edamame and Parmesan Dumpling. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the presentation was exquisite. The Udon Carbonara was a standout. The service was impeccable. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel right at home. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a leisurely meal. If you're looking for a truly memorable dining experience, I highly recommend Perry's Restaurant.

Great time! Really kind service and fantastic food. I started with the Cherry bomb cocktail which had less of a cherry flavor than a spicy and Mezcal taste but I loved it. The sushi was fantastic and I loved the ceviche appetizer. The steak was awesome and tasted like it had a miso based sauce. Such a fun time. Server Julia was great!

I haven’t eaten here in ages and wow! The food is very good. Very fatty tuna. Loved the butter miso clams. Little loud.

My roommate and I decided to check out Perry’s during restaurant week and I am so happy we did! Located on the second story of a building in Adams Morgan is this aesthetically pleasing restaurant with top notch service and food. Nate was our server and he was very accommodating, knowledgeable and friendly. The food was delicious, especially the Seafood Sunomono and Beef Curry and Rice. The drinks were also wonderful. Can’t wait to come back again

I mean, I cried. It was that much of a wonderful time. We went here for Perry’s Drag Brunch (Top Drag Brunch in the Nation by the way) and had theeee Best time! Food is in a buffet style. Everything was seasoned and tasted amazing. For Brunch (3) ladies performed and the phrase “Take My Money,” will never be the same again. We loved the atmosphere, music, performances, food and everything else. Come here at LEAST 20 minutes early to find parking. Bring cash or bills to exchange please. Really can’t express how great of a time it was. Awesome staff/management team and really beautiful atmosphere. I’m definitely going again. Also, Congratulations to the Performers who were celebrating their Birthday and upcoming Wedding, respectively. It was beautiful meeting you all. Encourage anyone and everyone to go.

This spot was recommended by family who live in DC. Was lucky to find a table at short notice, and when we arrived we were greeted by the friendly staff - which I suggest you chat with to get an insider’s look into the best dishes on the menu (& the specials for that day). Best was super attentive & helped us choose the very best this charming place has to offer. Don’t be fooled by the variety of options, as everything these guys serve is perfectly prepared. The sashimi is fresh & simply melts in your mouth. I would definitely recommend the Hamachi Crudo (amazing) & Fried Rice. Critics are raving about this place, and now I know why. Excellent all around.

We got an appetizer, entrée, and a sushi platter. All of it was full of flavor and very fresh! Servers were very professional and attentive, they were sure to make sure we were comfortable and went the extra mile to make sure there was no tonic water in their alcoholic beverages for my mother who is allergic. Everyone here is rather quiet and respectful, the atmosphere was lovely inside and on the rooftop!

Adams Morgan feels like an embarrassment of hidden riches sometimes, like the low key 40 year run of Perry's which features some of the most innovative Japanese cuisine anywhere. Paired with the service by Devin in a bustling and energetic dining room, it was an incredible experience from start to finish. We enjoyed everything we tried, there were zero disappointments on the entrees and appetizers. Some of the sushi felt a bit pedestrian, but there was plenty of strength elsewhere on the creative menu. Asparagus & Whipped Ricotta (Ramp pistachio pesto, sesame zucchini pickles, amazake focaccia, togarashi) - superb blend of flavors and textures, one of the most memorable starters Shrimp Katsu Burger (Deep fried shrimp patty, togarashi tartar, potato buns) - Really delicious shrimp katsu flavor, accented well with the tartar, and soft sweet potato buns. Udon Carbonara (Sanuki-style udon, parmesan, jidori egg yolk, crispy prosciutto) - definitely one of the standouts, quite indulgent Garlic Fried Rice (Dashi steamed Koshihikari rice, poached egg, butter w/ pork) Shiokoji Wagyu Steak (Aonori hash, spring green salad, Ponzu jus, chili oil) - most tender wagyu I've had in a while, and the hash was next level in terms of flavor per bite For dessert, we loved both the Matcha & White Chocolate Tart (delicious!) and their take on the Matcha Chocolate Chip Cookie with Vanilla Ice Cream concept was a mini masterpiece. Cocktails were also superb. Very creative and pretty well crafted, slightly on the sweeter side but within bounds to keep it balanced. We enjoyed the Rising Sun, the Dragonfly, Sweetheart, and the Cherry Bomb. All exceptional. Last but not least, to be served by the friendly and knowledgeable manager Devin who's been there for 25 years was quite a treat and honor. What a great experience, and he was a big part of it.

We came here for the drag brunch for my sister's bachelorette party. It was the best! Each person buys a ticket and it comes with entry and a buffet and then drinks are an extra charge. The drinks have fun names and the food was excellent! They had a large variety of foods and lots of vegeterian options. And the desserts were fantastic! The show was so much fun. The performers really get into it and sometimes pull people in from the crowd to dance with them. They even brought all the people up who were celebrating a birthday or bachelorette party and gave them each a shot and had them dance for tips. There were lots of laughs had. I would definitely come back and watch these talented, entertaining queens again!

Perry’s really popped up on my radar when chef Masako Morishita took the helm last year. Since then, I’ve heard wonderful things and seen quite a few interesting dishes on Instagram. Had to try it. It took a little while to find a weekend reservation that lined up with my schedule, but it was worth the wait! We started with a tasty cocktail - the “Dragonfly.” And my wife had a sake. First, a couple of sushi rolls. We went with the Chesapeake and the Spider Roll. I am not the biggest fan of fish, but the sushi tasted fresh and delicious. Next, we tried the garlic edamame dumplings. Delicate little dumplings, blanketed in soft Parmesan they were great. The star of the show, and the dish that really caught my attention, was the udon carbonara. The texture was really interesting and the flavor was great. My wife and I split all of this. I’m glad we did, because some of the very rich dishes may have been overpowering on their own. The service was great throughout. No complaints.

Saied Azali is a veteran of the Washington DC dining scene. He knows how to run a restaurant and he scored another home run with his new chef Masako. Our evening was exquisite from top to bottom. The drinks were great. The atmosphere was fun . The food was fantastic. Highly recommended. Bravo!

Food quality was good and decent portion for the price. Will come back to try other dishes! They also have good happy hour at the bar for food and drinks.

My first trip there. We had a group of 12 and had a blast. I couldn't believe the length of the buffet line. There was a wide variety of food, and all decently done. I was probably most surprised by the fried chicken. It was like popcorn shrimp, except it was chicken, and tastier than expected. I tried a piece while serving myself just to make sure. Staff was good and the "ladies" gave it their all. The music was lively, costumes good, and performances appropriately exaggerated. A nice surprise was the Emcee calling out special occasions and individually addressing each person. A great time was had by all.

For some of the best Japanese food in D.C. go to Perry's in Adams Morgan. It's a D.C. institution- it's been around for almost 40 years. But their chef is new and creating innovative dishes for their menu. My wife and I went for dinner on a Friday evening and the place was full (a good sign). Our meal was the best we've had in five years or so. Here's our experience. 1) Food: There wasn't a bad dish, but the standouts were the garlic edamame dumplings and the udon carbonara. I'll crave both. The shrimp katsu burger, roasted persimmon (a fall item), and the Pink Panther sushi were incredible. The sweet red bean cream monaka was one of the most unique desserts we've had and so, so good. 2) Drinks: The cocktail list is large, but we went with the Japanese inspired cocktails. If you love sweet (but not overpowering), order the Japanese Passion Sangria. It's very refreshing! 3) Service: It's impeccable. Our service has been with Perry's for most of its lifetime and knows the space well. Timing was perfect and he guided us through the menu with ease. 4) Space: It's on the second floor of a building with one large dining room, a long bar, chef's counter, and a rooftop. 5) Neighborhood: Adams Morgan is a fun area with lots of bars and restaurants. Parking can be tough, but we always find parking in the neighborhood...eventually. (Our food was comped, but views are my own.)

First time trying this restaurant, went there during happy hour at the bar which saves you a few dollars on drinks and some food items. Food was fast, tasty and nicely presented. Tried the sushi, the shasito peppers, the garlic fried rice and the waygu frito pie. Sushi was good but average, nothing special. Garlic fried rice was excellent as well as the peppers. The waygu frito pie was an interesting experience, basically nachos with frito chips and some beef and cheese. Glad we tried it but not really that special. Basically you are eating a bag of chips with some meat on top. Dessert was delicious. I would definitely recommend and come back.

Have been a fan of Perry's for some time but brought a friend from NYC here and just had the best experience. Hugh was amazing and I imagine the other staff is just as wonderful. Udon carbonara, edamame garlic dumplings, corn toast, salmon nigiri and hot sake on a breezy night on the rooftop...this experience solidified it as an institution in my house and will be back often.

One of the best spots in Adams Morgan and all of DC! Super friendly staff, incredible food. Be sure to get the edamame dumplings - one of the best bites in the city. The drag is also a fantastic experience

Favorite place to eat in this neighborhood. I’ve never had a bad experience here. Food and service are always top notch, and the cocktails, sake, and whiskey selection leave nothing to be desired. One of my favorite spots in DC!

Perry's in DC Visiting from the NYC, where sushi is not too shabby. Arrived for a reserved 6:30 Sunday dinner for four, place already crowded. Big party seated nearby, making a ruckus. Asked for somebody to calm them down or reseat us. Got immediately reseated at a corner six top - points for that! Waiter appeared, clearly knowledgeable and friendly. Menus, water, arrived fast. I ordered sake (#2 on a long and descriptive sake menu, long name starting with an A, $17 per glass). Had to inquire about it, as well as about our green teas, a few times - deducting points here. Ordered food - several apps and MUCHO sushi. The apps came fast, very tasty. Finally the drinks arrived. Sake served in a white wine glass - no bueno, but DELICIOUS, big points! Almost immediately after the apps plates were cleared, all the sushi arrived - a shocker (they did have a bunch of sushi guys behind the counter, but still). Huge points for expediency. Presentation - A+, two pieces of nigiri per order - A++, piece size, rice and fish temperatures, taste and prices - A+++!!! I'LL BE BACK!

Delicious food and excellent service for a reasonable price, what more could you ask for? Definitely looking to come back, if not for dinner maybe for the drag brunch. Our waitress gave some really great recommendations too.

The food was delicious!!! Happy hour prices aren’t exactly happy hour discounts but the portions are still regular sized so there is some discount. Would 100% come again!

Chef Masako and the crew are amazing. We've been visiting Perry's for a while now and have tried many of chef's dishes, mainstays and seasonal items. She is innovative and puts great flafoes together. Everything is always so comforting. Devin is the best! He's our all time favorite server and we are always happy to see him! The food is great, the people are amazing!

I wanted to try the Japanese breakfast by James Beard Award-winning Chef Masako Morishita. I also wanted to introduce my family to a good Japanese breakfast since I am Japanese. I personally enjoyed Nikujaga, which is a popular Japanese beef stew for children. Vegetable Agedashi was well-seasoned. I could tell they used fresh ingredients. The fish (Trout) was meaty, and I was surprised that its color was pink. Everything is typical of family meals. It's very Japanese, but it is flavorful. The waitress was very friendly. Why are the ratings 4 stars instead of 5 stars? It was because of Resy. I had an issue canceling the booking before.

We came here for happy hour and sat at the bar inside - very popular so we had to wait around 10 minutes for a seat but could still order drinks whilst we were waiting. The bar service was really friendly and quick. Tried both Japanese beer and sake at happy hour prices and they were great. The sushi was tasty and fresh but the karaage was a bit too greasy for our taste.

DRAG Brunch was EVERYTHING!!! Getting drinks to your table took ALLOT of work and the "buffet" wasn't very great selection and they stopped refilling the dishes at 1:20pm. Show was WORTH IT!! PARKING IS ATROCIOUS!!!!

Came here after a long bike ride and absolutely loved the rooftop vibe on a nice summer evening. All of the food was great! I thought the Japanese sangria was just ok--very refreshing but the flavor was lacking, imo. Service started out good, but we had to flag down our server after waiting 10-15 minutes for them to come back to take our order (to be fair we weren't ready the first two times). We also waited a very long time to be checked on again so we could ask for the check. Since we essentially had two servers (one was in training), this was a bit surprising. Again, while all the food tasted great, it was a bit pricier than I prefer for what I got--I think there are better places to go in this price range. The rooftop is really nice so I'll probably come back for apps/drinks sometime.

As far as casual sushi places go in DC. This place is solid. Really good selection of rolls and the entrees are also great. I just think it can very quickly become a pricey meal but a fun place to eat with friends and they have one of the best rooftops in Adams Morgan.

We made a reservation and went here for dinner on the rooftop. The atmosphere and string lights were stunning! We ordered sushi, ceviche, and carbonara. All delicious.

Great stop for dinner here. Food and drinks were solid. Ambiance was good, though brighter than expected. A little more casual than it appears from the outside. Overall a great experience, though nothing spectacular. We will definitely be back!

We had the Japanese breakfast here today. Highlights: great food and a pretty darn authentic experience that reminded me of the time when I lived in Japan. The flavors and the quality of the food were top notch. The trout was perfectly prepared and the skin was like perfect slightly crispy bacon. Lowlights: the hostess was about as unfriendly as you could be especially with as empty as they were. Also, we were on time for our reservation so it wasn't that. The only stumble on the food was that the crusts on the egg salad sando were a little stale. The servers didn't refill our water once during the meal. I had to flag a server down before we left to get a refill. The servers also did not explain any of the dishes to us but they did for every table around us. The 20% mandatory fee (not a tip as the restaurant tells its patrons 🙄) kept us from being able to ding the front of the house staff for their subpar performance. Bottom line: come here for the food, which is great, not the service. PS: I really wanted to rate this place higher based on the food.

Jeffrey Menzer

Came for restaurant week dinner: ceaser salad with shrimp was a good choice. Main of trout with micro greens, beets and some sort of puree lacked flavors—maybe salt would have helped, fruit tart for desert was pleasant. Table mates enjoyed their sushi. Chicken Karange was very good and freshly made Good and efficient service.

We started off with a great impression of Perry’s. The atmosphere was lovely, and the front-of-house team was excellent—the hostess was friendly, and the owner/manager greeted us warmly at the front. It had a very welcoming vibe. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill once we were seated. Our waitress seemed annoyed to be taking our order and honestly felt condescending the whole time. There was a frustrating moment when I asked to see the non-alcoholic beverage section; she just kept repeating, 'You want beer?' even after I clarified that I wanted a non-alcoholic drink. I ended up ordering nothing to drink. The food was average at best. The 'Salmon Lover' was particularly disappointing because the fish was dry. To make matters worse, our server never returned to check on the food or see if we needed anything. We eventually had to flag down a friendly waitress serving the next table just to get our check and to-go boxes. I really wanted to like this place, but it was a disappointing experience

H
Hannah Greenfader

The sushi is a bit overpriced for what you get. The quality isn’t exceptional, but it’s still tasty enough for a nice night out. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient…my water was constantly refilled, which I really appreciated. One dish, a peach salad (i forgot the name of it), was smoky and didn’t taste good, but the waiter promptly removed it from the bill, which was great. The main reason I’m not giving more stars is the price. With already a 20% service charge (which they clarified isn’t a tip), it made the meal very expensive.

D
Daniel Bell

Honestly, it might’ve been the company I was with, but it’s truly was a terrible place. Everyone is very loud. I couldn’t hear myself think. It didn’t help that I was being taken there by somebody who took people there for every first date they’ve ever been on. The second time I went there or I should say the next time I went there with a different group I watched two people get extremely drunk and was yelled at.

M
Malo

We dined here multiple times with my wife and always loved our experience. But the treatment we received at our latest outing at Perry's has completely tainted these memories. We were seated at the bar, had just finished our appetizers and were waiting for the entrées when the hostess very rudely yelled at us, ordering us to move because we "were blocking the area". We were taken aback as we had been seated 20 minutes earlier by her colleague in those same seats. By the time we finished our meal, the seats we had left hadn't even been filled. We felt extremely uncomfortable during the remainder of our meal, wondering if we were going to be asked to move again. It is shocking to receive McDonald's-level service in a supposedly fine dining establishment. We won't come back.
