I've been coming here for years now each time I'm in LA. The care that they put into staffing their business really shows as its not only quality food, but the service detail is always impeccable. If I could share just one reason why I continue to go; its the lobster bisque... not kidding; it's just so right. So if you're ever wanting authentic modern seafood or just the best lobster bisque in the city, go here. You won't be let down. But do schedule a reservation on the weekend I've found they can get quite busy!
Love Oysters had to try this place out they had about 6 options for free oysters. 8/10 on oysters. Had a drink pool boy 10/10 and Jesus was a great server 10/10
Came here for Valentine’s Day because we had been craving seafood and had a wonderful experience! The food and drinks were great, and our service was top notch (thanks Joey!) We ordered the oysters, calamari, hot lobster roll, and the Portuguese fish stew. Everything was DELICIOUS! They made a perfect-ratio dirty martini and even had blue cheese olives!!! (My fav) We left feeling very satisfied and can’t wait to come again!
I don't understand how this place is closing when the line to get in was out the door, but we had the best time here on our visit to L.A. Delicious, refined New England comfort food and amazing fresh seafood. Service can make a good experience a "great" experience and our server Joey was absolutely phenomenal! He had us cracking up the whole time, gave excellent food and wine suggestions and took great care of our group. The manager or owner who checked on us was kind and friendly. Loved it!
Our first time to this classic seafood restaurant. From the warm greeting to the thoughtful menu to the beautiful seafood, we had a delightful experience. This is like going back 20,30 years were presentations were simple, their was integrity in the food and the service was genuine. We will be back!
I'm originally from Rhode Island and grew up in Boston, so this place brought back happy memories of all the little divey seafood shacks back home. My fish was delicious and cooked perfectly. Service from Joey was outstanding.
Excellent service, the waitstaff was wonderful and very attentive. The maine lobster cooked to perfection- slid out the shell (and having grown up in Boston, you better believe I know lobster!)and the squash dish was unique and delicious. My son and his family all said what they ordered was delicious too (hamburgers, steak). The atmosphere was terrific in a wonderful area. We were on a private terrace outside lovely! So happy we came here for my 69th bday! Will definitely come here again and again.
I came to experience, George’s of Galilee, Rocky Point, Lidos beach and other memories of the Rhode Island summers I remember as a kid. It did not disappoint! The chowdah and clam cakes were definitely a higher level that those RI slots but very good. The whole fried clams (with the bellies) outstanding and what I originally came for. They were exactly as I remember and more! My server Lawrence very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be back!! It is NE clam heaven right here in LA ❤️
Connie and Ted’s continues to do what few places in LA manage—serve up seafood that actually tastes like it came off the boat this morning. I had the sockeye salmon, cooked to that perfect midpoint between flaky and tender, with just enough char to bring out its richness. But the surprise hit? A new vegan creamed corn that deserves more fanfare than it’s getting. Silky, savory, and a little sweet, it somehow pulls off indulgence without the dairy. Service was exactly what you’d hope for at a place with this much polish—attentive but unintrusive, with a team that clearly knows the menu inside and out. Whether you’re a regular or just stopping by for a seafood fix, Connie and Ted’s holds its own as a West Hollywood staple. Every plate that hits the table reminds you they’re not phoning it in—freshness and execution are the whole point here.
Connie and Ted's is simply marvelous! I love everything about this place. The food. Service. Ambiance. Design. It really makes you feel like you're in New England with a touch of the West Coast! We had reservations for Mother's Day and arrived about 15 minutes before our time but we were seated right away. We started with the halibut crudo. WOW. The fish was cut perfectly and the plate was beautifully decorated. And the quality of the fish was amazing. So soft that it literally pulled apart with the gentle tug of the fork. The fish was soft, light, and the pickles and citrus notes on top made the perfect pairing. Now for the main dishes. The fish sandwich was simple yet perfectly executed. The brioche was light and fluffy. The coleslaw was crunchy. And that fish was so perfectly fried, the batter was light yet so crunchy and stayed crunchy while eating the entire sandwich. Fries were fried to perfection, crispy, crunchy, lightly salted, and tasted just like fries should! The shrimp chilaquiles are seriously some of the best you'll have in LA. Those chips stayed crunchy the entire time we ate through this dish! And the sauce had a robust, spicy, savory kick. It was cheesy and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. And those gorgeous yolked eggs on top were the perfect kiss. Now the Lobster Croque Connie. Oh my. It might be easy to think "let's just throw some lobster into a croque monsieur" oh no no . . . we gotta make it Connie and Ted style! The toast was light but so crispy and held it's shape to soak up all the sauce. The lobster I think was just ever so slightly overcooked, like 30 seconds, but it did not ruin the dish at all. It was still soft and so sweet. Gruyere cheese for the perfect richness and that figaro sauce - basically a tomato hollandaise - was nuts. Not only did I run my croque through it with every bite, I used the french fries from the fish sandwich to dip it in the sauce too! The best part - desserts! The key lime pie was ON POINT. The crust was dense, rich, toasty, and oh so good. The key lime filling had pieces of lime - outstanding - it was smooth, tart, creamy, delicious. And that merengue - you know they toasted it to order because it was still warm when it arrived! I love that! Light, sweet, airy, amazing. And that newly made special Orange Creamsicle Ice cream? Wow. Creamy rich ice cream, decadent caramel, tart orange and kumquats, and candied walnuts. The best sundae ever. I definitely need to come back asap.
This place is always packed, so make a reservation before you go. Seafood was fresh and portions were generous. Loved the seafood tower and herb crusted fish. The jumbo shrimp lived up to their name (they were very large). Even though I'm not a big fan of zucchini, the side was delicious. The zucchini spears were tender and prepared with slivered almonds and two sauces on the plate. The server was polite and attentive. The only drawbacks were the uncomfortable chairs and tables too close to each other. It was a bit noisy. Also, valet is $17, but there was plenty of metered parking on the street.
Fantastic place for seafood. I’d love to come back. We had the chowder sampler (the traditional one was best), oysters, lobster roll and the Sunday’s special fried chicken. I recommend the lobster roll (hot) and the oysters for sure. The chicken was somewhat subpar. It’s probably best to get seafood at a seafood restaurant, not chicken.
Found this gem while researching seafood spots for my Cali visit. The atmosphere is nice, I personally like places where you can see in the kitchen. When I'm looking for seafood, there's nothing wrong with a place that has people grabbing live crab out of a tank to cook. It adds to the vibe! My wife and I shared a side salad, three chowder sampler, a dozen oysters, and a seafood boil. Yes, we were hungry. 🤣 But honestly, the portions weren't huge. One could argue it's pricey for the portion sizes, but we were satisfied. All of the oysters from the chef selection were delicious. I enjoyed the chowders as well, but Rhode Island was definitely my favorite! The seafood boil was great, but probably better suited for one person. There was only one piece of lobster and shrimp. The rest was full of clams, muscles, and potatoes. The service was satisfactory and everything came out at an appropriate cadence. I would come back if I am ever staying in the area!
We ate here during DineLA, and had a great experience! The service was great from all staff. Everyone so friendly and kind! My bf loved the bloody Maria and I LOVED the espresso martini! The New England clam chowder was so delicious! I would love to come back and try the chowder sampler. My bf and I each got the cod sandwich with fries. My bf loved it, I thought it was just okay, but take it with a grain of salt because I’m from WI and have ridiculously high standards for fried fish. The cookie for dessert was warm, fresh, and delicious too. We would love to come back here.
Upscale but relaxed and casual- nice vibes. We had a great view of the open kitchen from where we sat. However, the good feelings waned along the way. It was a very busy restaurant without doubt but we were still a little unhappy when told some items were sold out as it was only 7.30 p.m. I felt the food was pretty ordinary or perhaps my expectations were high. The chowders were diluted and I highly recommend giving it a miss. The portions were rather small.
I’ve done lunch and dinner here several times, and my rating tends to vary between three and four stars from meal to meal, but mostly three stars. The atmosphere is nice for a fish restaurant but nothing exceptional. Grilled calamari is tasty, but small and seems to be breaded. Fried calamari is good but not very meaty. Crab cake is so buttery you don’t taste the crab. Butternut squash side dish is very very sweet. Ocean trout was over cooked but otherwise okay. Friends I was with didn’t like the fried fish nor the fried calamari.
3 stars because the food was delicious (with an exception for the peach pie) but the service was below average which ruined the overall experience. The hosts should leave their attitude at home and a smile would be nice too! After waiting a while, someone came to take our drink order and then our waiter finally made an appearance to… get our drink order. We ordered a shrimp cocktail and smoked fish dip which took more than 20 minutes to come. Both were very good though. Both fish were delicious. We then waited another 15 minutes (at least) to finally get someone’s attention to ask for the dessert menus. Our waiter had disappeared. We should have just stopped with the fish… the peach pie was really disappointing. Don’t bother with the scoop of vanilla ice cream… it’s the tiniest thing you’ve ever seen.
The staff at this restaurant consistently displayed unprofessional behavior. On multiple visits, I heard servers and barbacks openly complaining about customers and making inappropriate remarks. I speak both English and Spanish, so unfortunately I understood comments that were clearly not intended for guests to hear. The food lacked flavor, and the overall service experience was disappointing. Several staff members were openly discussing their tips, and the manager—who seemed disengaged—handled a customer concern poorly and appeared to side with staff rather than address the issue constructively. Additionally, the restaurant’s culture felt out of touch with the neighborhood. There appeared to be very little diversity among the staff, and based on conversations I have heard management only hires a certain amount of “non-white” server,, which is extremely concerning and backwards “progress”.. Overall, the management structure appears ineffective, the service was unprofessional, and the food and drinks were not worth the price. Unfortunately, I will not be returning after a few years of regular visits. I’m telling my friends to do the same. The service level at this place is going downhill and they pick and choose like who to treat well.
My brother’s friend used to eat at this restaurant, but what happened today was absolutely unacceptable. When I came to pick up an order as a delivery driver during my off-hours, their security guard shouted at me aggressively, telling me, “You can’t park here, go outside,” while frowning and acting extremely rude. There were plenty of empty parking spaces, yet he still pointed at me and yelled repeatedly, as if I wasn’t even a human being. His behavior was deeply disrespectful, hostile, and clearly discriminatory. After this experience, I will never come to this restaurant again, and I will make sure others know how delivery drivers are treated here.
