Friendly and great bagels and coffee!
This is a fantastic little coffee shop with great food, better coffee, and a fantastic atmosphere! You can bring kids, bring a date, or just hang out by yourself and be completely comfortable!
Very nice. Modern and tasteful decor with a really solid menu. They obviously were slammed because the other coffee shop was closed for the week, and to be honest, this is the type of place residents of the area really want. The staff handled everything with grace even though though the line went out the door.
I went for my 1st time recently and my wife and I got coffee and baked goods. Both items were very good and will definitely go back. I was a little confused why all the staff were wearing masks though??
I love it, it was my first time there today. The staff were very nice, the inside was lovely. I wish I had more time to see what the outdoor seating area looked like in the back, I will save that for my next visit.
Scout is such a wonderful addition to our neighborhood! The coffee and pastries were great and I loved seeing so many neighbors there. I love how the owner restored the beautiful old building too!
They have one of if not the best breakfast sandwiches I have had in Wilmington. Trust me, I love breakfast sandwiches. I couldn't be happier my wife said we should try this Cafe. I hope word about the cafe spreads and they stay around.
This is gem and obviously a local favorite! 10/10. Food: 👍🏼 The menu is unique, reasonably priced, and absolutely delicious. Portions were reasonable. We had "The Scout" breakfast sandwich and drip coffee. I offer a chef's kiss to their "coffee hot sauce." Just enough heat, tangy, and subtly sweet. Excellent. 🤌🏼 Service:👍🏼 Service was friendly and quick! Locals were in and out often, and the workers knew many of them by name. That says a lot! Atmosphere:👍🏼 It is a typical coffee shop. That said, it is bright with lots of natural light, well laid out, and quiet! This would be the perfect place to get some work done or hangout with a cup of coffee and a good book. Plants and local artwork decorate the place and make for a very cozy feel. ❤️
One of the best coffee places in Wilmington! Great atmosphere and a lot of space! The coffee is also great and the employees are super nice. The prices are fair and I appreciate places that don’t overprice their menu. My only suggestion is to include name and price of the pastries, and also offer to warm it up.
I live in the neighborhood adjacent to Scout Cafe and I cannot say enough positive things. The building has been brought back to life in ways this community has long been waiting, indoors it is so cozy and welcoming and the back garden is remarkable from the underutilized space it once was. Coffee is delicious and pastries and food are spot on. All the pastries come from a local bakery. The sense of community and connections neighbors are building around this establishment is inspiring. I wish this business much success and I highly recommend it.
I was way overdue for trying this local coffee shop, and I could not have been more impressed! I sat with a friend in the back patio area and it was a really nice, charming atmosphere. My chai latte & sandwich were both delicious. Will definitely be stopping by again soon!
My husband and I have been waiting for Scout to open! I did not disappoint! The coffee and food were wonderful! We had lattes with oat milk and turkey sandwiches (with avocado and sprouts). Plus, they have Helle's Belles baked goods! Local businesses supporting local businesses! I love it! All of the staff were so friendly too! The owner took our order and remembered us from the summer. I forgot to ask for my sandwich to be cut, and the woman making it was so sweet about making sure my order was the way I wanted it! We will definitely be back!
This place is awesome. The location is great because there’s surprisingly more parking than I thought there would be and there’s very little competition in the area. As for the food, it was so good. I got a breakfast sandwich and I loved that for the first time, a bagel didn’t overpower the insides. Please never change this! I also really liked that the cheese was not one I was used to but paired so well. I was very impressed. One of my favorite parts of breakfast was the apple cider tea. It was very unique and just the right pairing with my scone—which was also delicious! The vibe was very nice. Loved the pillows on the back of the chairs. It was a little crowded at the start, but that’s a great thing for a new business so I wasn’t mad. Can’t wait for the summer to see if they add chairs outside. All in all, highly recommend!
I went for the first time on Sunday. I have to say it was a cute, quaint little place. Parking is limited but it's also the city so that's to be expected. Not tones of seating inside but it's also not a huge place either but they definitely make it work. Overall speaking it's clean, bright and inviting. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was great and well priced. Menu was not too big and not too small and was both intriguing and enticing. I felt very good knowing that I helped support a local small business. Especially, a little Cafe which is a nice thing to have in a city and is not in a typical place such as Market Street. I would highly recommend this place as a future and reoccurring destination to satisfy all your coffee and basic dining needs.
Love this addition to the Wilmington area! The staff are so kind + welcoming and the cafe itself is cozy + comforting. The back garden has been wonderful over the summer and provides a charming place to sit back to enjoy your coffee and lunch. So happy to have Scout Cafe!
I always try to find a good coffee shop when I travel and am used to the standard of Seattle, Portland and Los Angeles boutique coffee. It was difficult to find good coffee in Wilmington, but Scout takes the gold medal for this town. Good coffee brewed on a La Marzocco and really nice homemade salads and sandwiches. Nice corner location and a good place to study if not too crowded. You can tell attention to detail was put into the shop.
Breakfast sandwiches are great! Coffee and chai are wonderful! And the grilled halumi sandwich is transformative! Staff feels like family - so gracious and hospitable! It has such a great vibe!
Love this place! Great food and pastries with even better coffee! A super awesome patio for getting work done, too. They also host a farmers market a few Sundays per month.
Excellent coffee plus tasty sandwiches and light lunch at a good price. We always linger over books or games that are on the tables and shelves. Love this place! A destination coffee shop on Baynard Blvd in Wilmington!
I live within walking distance and really enjoy going to this wonderful cafe! It's a great addition to the neighborhood. The owner and staff are friendly, the pastries are fresh and delicious, and the coffee is very good. And coffee refills are only $1!
Can’t speak highly enough about this coffee shop. Love the coffee. Sandwiches are really flavorful. I highly recommend the haloumi and mrs van buren sandwiches. Also it has a thoughtfully put together ambience. The backspace is a unique addition. Tall trees and jute awnings make the space cozy on sunny days.
Really cute cafe with really good food! I ordered a cappuccino and the hummu-licious sandwich. Both were excellently prepared. I'll definitely be coming back here for a working day - there's plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor, outlets on the wall, Wi-Fi, and plenty of natural light.
Quaint, small spot with a lovely decor, helpful/friendly staff, reasonable menu pricing, and my Scout breakfast sandwich was fresh, tasty and deee-licious. Coffee was amazing too. It was my first visit and will not be my last. Great first impression. I certainly do recommend this spot. Enjoy!
Scout is without a doubt the best coffee shop around. Not only is the food and coffee amazing, but the vibes and atmosphere is perfect.
Absolutely the BEST atmosphere, service, coffee, and food! Everything on the menu is delicious, and you really can't go wrong. I especially recommend their sandwiches and salads, perfect when you're in a rush but still want something fresh, flavorful, and a little different. I'm a big fan of their black coffee, but their specialty lattes are next level. The lady latte (lavender/oat milk) and the ginger cardamom latte are to die for! This place is a gem and I highly recommend!
The best hidden gem in wilmington, de. latte was perfect, not too sweet or bitter. They did the cutest teddy bear with OATMILK, i have been to other cafes where they can’t do coffee art because it’s not real milk. Grilled cheese was to die for, apples and Dijon.. WOW. My husband got the Turkey club and it was so fresh tasting with sprouts! Highly recommend
Great food and delicious coffee. Staff is helpful and friendly. Trust the deli turkey sandwich and a latte and both were excellent. Would definitely come again!
Scout cafe is a delight! The Scout Bagel is absolutely delicious and I crave it at least once a week. The staff is always so friendly and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. The outdoor seating area is lovely during the summer months. We feel so lucky they are in our neighborhood. <3
Came in for the first time during the coffee crawl. I loved the ginger chai latte. It’s delicious. Came by a few days later and the experience was amazing. When I ordered the croissant, I didn’t know it had a filing. In case you order it beware it has a sugar filling in it.
This was our first time hear, and I was pleasantly surprised of how good the pastries were. We gad the plain croissant and the 4 cheese croissant which was wonderfully. My sister had the Raspberry bars she loved them as well as the Baklava. The coffee was delicious and $2 for a 12oz cup. We also got ge 12oz citrus mint ice tea the cost $3 and it was so refreshing on this warm day
Been here atleast 50+ times, food and drinks are always fantastic! I love their chai!
Scout Café is an absolute treasure—thoughtfully curated, beautifully executed, and effortlessly cool. From the moment you step in, you can feel the intention behind every detail. The interior is stylish yet inviting, with a laid-back atmosphere that makes it just as perfect for catching up with a friend as it is for a solo coffee-and-laptop session. The menu is refreshingly creative, full of fresh, vibrant flavors that go far beyond your standard café fare. Whether it’s a perfectly balanced toast, a seasonal salad, or one of their signature breakfast sandwiches, everything is plated with care and absolutely delicious. And the coffee? Smooth, rich, and consistently well-crafted—clearly a team that knows their beans. But it’s more than just the food and coffee—Scout has soul. The staff is warm, genuine, and always on point. You can tell this is a place that values community and experience just as much as quality. It’s one of those rare spots that feels both elevated and accessible, where every visit feels like a treat. Scout Café is one of the best in the region—an inspiring space that truly delivers.
Scout is my favorite neighborhood cafe in Wilmington and they're not even in my neighborhood!! I just like to go here on the weekend and pretend I live in this awesome neighborhood. I'm obsessed with their coffee flights, super creative and they change seasonally. Lovely staff and owner also, and I've made so many friends among the locals who frequent the cafe.
Scout Cafe is a gem! From the moment you walk in, the cozy, welcoming atmosphere invites you to stay and explore all it has to offer. The food is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The coffee is smooth and rich, and their chocolate drinks are a must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth. The outdoor heated patio is perfect for relaxing, even on chilly days, and gives the whole experience an extra layer of charm. One of the things that makes Scout truly unique is the range of activities they offer. You can find everything from local art showcases. It’s the perfect spot to meet friends, work on your laptop, or just unwind. It’s more than a cafe; it’s a community hub filled with good vibes and even better flavors. Highly recommend to anyone in the area!
Willing to travel for this coffee shop! I live on the other side of town and had read great reviews of Scout Cafe. Gave it a try and it was all I had heard - tasty coffee, immaculate vibes, and excellent food. Couldn’t find street parking on my first pass so took a loop around the block and had no problem finding a spot on the second go. They have a sweet and tranquil garden out back that’s perfect for enjoying a great cuppa on a beautiful summer morning. Highly recommend!
Stopped by on a whim on a gorgeous fall afternoon. The cafe was bustling, but the barista maintained a wonderful sense of calm even with a long line at the counter. I ordered a pumpkin spiced latte (which is somewhat out of character, but one must indulge in being "basic" once in awhile) and was in love! It was surprisingly wonderful - super spicy, only subtly sweet, and perfectly made. Scout definitely exceeded my expectations! I'll definitely be back when the mood strikes for another well made coffee creation. Check it out!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Scout Cafe in Wilmington, DE, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The presentation of the food was absolutely delightful, and delicious What truly set Scout Cafe apart, however, was the outstanding customer service. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of perfect, attending to every need with grace and efficiency. Overall, Scout Cafe exceeded my expectations in every way possible. If you're looking for not only delicious food but also a dining experience that is memorable for all the right reasons, look no further than Scout Cafe! Keep up the good work !
I have wanted to go to Scout Cafe ever since they opened. I’m not sure what took me so long. But it won’t take me so long to go back! This little place is so incredibly charming. The atmosphere is so carefully curated. I would have loved to have stayed and enjoyed my breakfast while reading my book, but I chose to arrive after First Saturday Mass… prime Saturday breakfast/brunch time. The cafe was absolutely packed, both inside and out. We’re in the middle of a very hot summer, so I decided to take my order to go. But I can’t wait to go back another time to be able to stay and enjoy my time there. The employees are absolutely fantastic. They are so friendly and kind. Each one called me by name once I ordered. The sweet employee who took my order gave me a really meaningful compliment without even realizing it would be meaningful to me. I was very touched. I ordered the iced caramel latte with almond milk and strawberry toast. Both were so lovingly prepared. They take their time to make each item with care, and it shows. Both my latte and toast were absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend Scout Cafe. I can’t wait to go back!
Super cute local cafe with a selection of middle eastern inspired sandwiches and coffee beverages. It has a really sort of chill New England feel to it - Complete with the occasional sighting of local city council members Speaking with perspective candidates, at the table next to you. You can get a coffee and a bagel with a schmear for seven dollars - Which is a pretty good deal in our six bucks (starbucks) economy.
I discovered this place through Google suggestions & it was rightly called the hidden gem of Wilmington. The cafe is cozy with a great selection of food & drinks. We are vegetarians and were happy to see some vegetarian breakfast options other than Avocado toast. Do try the Veggie head, you'd keep coming back for more.
Update: Besides having great customer service, coffee and food, Scout opened an outdoor section (see picture below) a few months ago. Very well decorated and spacious. Old review: They just opened and their coffee is great. I tried their Scout sandwich from the breakfast menu and it was very good. Friendly staff plus good coffee and food is a great combination.
Stopped in to check out the new kid on the block. We were very impressed overall. Scout Cafe is small and a little bit slow, bit what they make is truly worth the wait. I had a Hazelnut latte that was absolutely delicious. I also had their version of avocado toast which was also very good. They have a nice space with very limited seating. Parking is limited so just be aware of that. We highly recommend that you check this place out!
So glad to have a new cafe in the neighborhood and this beautiful once vacant building brought to life again! Good coffee and pastries (from Hell's Belles), and a really nice atmosphere. My boyfriend got The Scout sandwich and he really liked it. Next time I visit I will get myself a sandwich. We definitely plan on becoming regulars here.
I have visited the Scout 4-5 times in the last several months and have enjoyed every stop. I usually only get coffee, but one time I did have a delicious sandwich. The space is small but is comfortable with seating and design. My only regret is that I don’t get to the area very often and not a regular.
This place is incredible. Coolest cafe I’ve been to in a very long time. The building is beautiful on the outside and absolutely perfect on the inside. The food: delicious. The coffee, exactly how I like it with plenty of options. Perfect place to get together with friends or a brunch date or if you need to get work done on the laptop. We’ll definitely be regulars here
This is a really cute and cozy cafe in Wilmington! Definitely a great spot for a relaxed brunch. They also have outdoor seating area on the side of the cafe. They offer good variety breakfast items, sandwiches and salads with quality ingredients. We got the hummus-licious + haloumi sandwiches and thought they were delicious.
Scout cafe is heaven! This gorgeous, welcoming space couldn't be a better fit for its corner spot on Baynard Blvd. It has the warm ambiance of a neighborhood spot with the clean, refined sophistication of a truly craft establishment. The food is delicious (the menu has a number of exciting and healthy options), the staff is warm, and the coffee is delicious. Scout is super walkable, and makes you want to come and sit there all day. I am so (SOOOOO) happy that they have joined the neighborhood- we are so lucky to have you! 10/10 - BIG recommend!
Scout is the truly the best. The neighborhood cherishes the cafe: it is delicious, visually beautiful (inside and the garden at scout), and a warm vibe that brings our community together. They offer a variety of events- from mindfulness gatherings to drawing and gardening events to a farmers market to truly special chef’s dinners. We are so lucky to have Scout. 💕
Scout is a win for the neighborhood. nicest people, best pastries and food, great coffee! This place made us feel welcome in Deleware!
Scout cafe is absolutely spectacular. From the pastries, sandwiches, coffee, and the welcoming staff. I tried the BEC sandwich on a asiago bagel and it was delicious. My friend had the four cheese croissant and said the cheese was very flavorful. The drip coffee was solid and the cold brew was bold with good taste. The decor inside was awesome and plenty of seating. Definitely a top notch cafe for Wilmington.
This was an amazing Saturday morning well spent!! My best friend and I were looking for a cute coffee shop in Delaware and found the perfect one. From outside view to inside aesthetic! You feel very welcomed. The ambiance is very warm, the music is soothing and the decoration choices make you feel at ease. Loved seeing the friendly incoming customers making small talk with the one another. The food was very fulfilling and light on the stomach. Loved every moment spent! It is a newer shop so the drink options are limited but still amazing.
This is a charming neighborhood cafe with great coffee and pastries. I visited for breakfast and worked on my computer. The cafe has free wifi and plenty of comfortable seating, perfect for getting some work done. I would definitely come back!
We went to this adorable cafe for the first time while they were having a holiday Christmas market outside with vendors surrounding the building. It was very crowded inside, but we were able to snag the largest table since there were seven of us. I like that you order at the counter and pay and take your seat. They yell your name and bring your food to you. Everyone said their dish was delicious!
Cozy coffee shop with lots of natural lighting and awesome food and drinks. Its natural tones, plants, and rustic vibe are always relaxing whether you are solo or meeting a friend. There's also outdoor seating on the side. The baristas and chef are sweet and friendly. They always go the extra mile! This hidden gem is my favorite spot by far.
Absolutely amazing espresso based beverages. Their espresso is able to stand out and plays nicely with either dairy or non-dairy based drinks. Expertly crafted, properly aerated, I was honestly blown away with how magical their drinks are. The food is also fantastic. This spot has been on my mind since I went there. I just want to grab another latte, a good sandwich, and chill in the patio area all day. Also to note, I went during a rather busy time. The staff kept their cool, and were able to patiently handle any issues that came up (in this insance it was the other customer's blunder) and they came to a great agreeable solution.
We love Scout Café! My husband won’t skip a morning without his Hummu-licious Toast and latte, and I keep coming back for the Deli Turkey sandwich and Avo Toast (always with an extra egg). Drinks are amazing — I switch between the cold brew and the maple-spiced Lumberjack. Great food, super friendly staff, and a cozy back seating area that’s perfect to hang out or work a bit. Always a happy stop when we’re in Wilmington!
My daughter swears this is her fave cafe in the area so I felt compelled to stop in for lunch on a rare day I had time to during the week. The neighborhood seemed charming but the store itself was the star. Warm and welcoming inside (it was actually nice and cool on a steamy hot day!) the staff greeted me right away! I had a cold brew and the deli turkey sammy. Cold brew was nice and flavorful, the ciabatta was so fresh and crisp and the sandwich in whole did not disappoint with delicious ingredients! I sat in their peaceful patio and took in the ambience. What a great little cafe! Can't wait to head back for more menu features and especially coffee drinks!
I stopped by here for a quick lunch and coffee whilebpassing through the area. The Avo Mash (added an egg) was tasty and satisfying -- the hot sauce on top made it more interesting. The sourdough bread was decent, but not the star of the plate. My plain latte was tip-top quality and pretty much perfect for me. It's a pretty cozy space inside with back cushions all over, and there's also patio seating for a nice day. It was mostly quiet that Saturday afternoon. I'd be happy to come back here.
Been to this place for the first time and really like the atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and recommending what to choose for bread. Will recommend and revisit again. I got the scout sandwich with ciabatta bread and a latte. ciabatta is crispy outside and soft inside. The sandwich has bacon that isn’t crisp kind and the sauce is slightly tangy which is refreshing.
Next stop on our 2025 D&D trip Wilmington. We stopped in at the Scout Cafe and had a fantastic time. Not only does it share its name with my daughter, it was a delicious selection of sandwiches for breakfast and lunch. The coffee was also great. This is the perfect neighborhood coffee shop.
It’s such a lovely little cafe in the neighborhood. There are not many cafe with this kind of atmosphere in Delaware and I have to say this is definitely one my favorites. I normally get their latte as a go to. Decided to get their bagel sandwiches this time and they were delicious. Worth the visit!
Everything was delicious and tasted homemade! We ordered the Mrs. Van Buren and split it between 2 people. It came with chips and was the perfect size. Tasted fresh and loved the toppings on it. We also got the lemon pound cake and double chocolate cupcake which were also amazing. I ordered the lumberjack latte as well which was a maple latte and came with a delicious cookie on top as well. Overall this was a great lunch spot and I also love the outdoor garden seating area.
Stumbled upon this coffee shop and cafe and I’m so glad I did. The ambiance of the place is so mellow and beautiful. The coffee is great and so is the food, I got a halloumi sandwich and it was great. The baristas are so kind, and one of them named Jinx drew the illustrations on a lot of the shop’s merch. I bought a sticker to put in my journal :). Highly recommend a visit!
Scout Cafe has been on my list for a long time and I finally checked it out on Thursday morning. I was so impressed and will absolutely be returning! The food was delicious and fresh. They offered free cold water. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and answered all of my questions. The overall ambiance was calm and relaxing. Also I know I always have this question when trying out a new place, it is street parking.
Scout is so cute! It’s a bright and airy location with friendly staff. I got an iced latte which was amazing, the espresso is really smooth and high quality. It’s small, so get there early for a seat, or come on a more quiet week day. We ate the Asiago bagel (yum) and the Mr. Baynard sandwich which was delicious.
Fully remote working corporate girlie here, go here for a community vibe and great service! see my experience on instagram @life_lattely
The drinks and food were not very good. The avocado toast had a hotsauce that tasted bad and the bread was not toasted. I got the drink flight and could not drink more than one or two sips, all 3 tasted gross. The peach blossom tasted like dirt and a flower. My husband's caramel latte tasted very bland. I will say the blueberry muffin was good and so was the cookie we got. Overall I would not be back.
Don’t go if you are in any hurry. I ordered an iced coffee, and after 10 minutes of waiting I had to walk out. They pull a single espresso shot at a time, and make all lattes before they’ll pour a drip or iced coffee. The lattes they were making were iced so they didn’t even have to steam the milk I appreciate that they want to make quality espresso drinks, but they can do that without taking 5 minutes to make each drink.
Coffee is great but the food takes way too long and they got my order wrong and I didn’t realize until I got home. I ordered an everything bagel toasted with cream cheese and they gave me an untoasted plain bagel. Very disappointing. Also I’ve gone 1 hour after opening before and they are out of most flavors of bagels way too quickly.
This was a disaster. One register, a long line and we waited 15 minutes and didn't move in line. We and others walked out. If you can't take orders you won't make it as a cafe.
I’m honestly surprised by other’s high reviews and I want to experience what everyone else is! My husband and I so wanted to like Scout cafe but we have been disappointed each time we have tried. We went for the first time on their opening day and got a cappuccino, hot tea, sandwich and salad with chicken. My husband’s drink and sandwich were “eh” and my salad was not good. I can’t remember exactly what we paid for the salad but it was quite expensive for a small box of limp lettuce and chicken that seemed like it was frozen and microwaved. It was actually pretty gross. We left and gave the benefit of the doubt that opening days are hard and there are sometimes kinks that need to be worked out. We gave it some time and returned a couple weeks ago. My husband tried a cappuccino again and I tried a Golden Milk Latte. To be straight forward, the cap wasn’t good and the Golden Milk latte tasted like steamed milk with a few taps of cinnamon. It definitely was not a true golden milk latte. At the end of the day it was just $10 wasted so it doesn’t really matter all that much but other coffee lover friends of ours have also been disappointed in Scouts quality and expertise when it comes to properly made drinks like cappuccinos, matcha lattes and more. Unfortunately I don’t think we will be back, just not worth it when there are other options around that we enjoy. To end at least on a positive note, I applaud Scout on their kind service and their pleasant and unique atmosphere. They have those two things going for them!
